I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I got a new T440s with a standard disk hard drive. My coworker gave me a Crucial SSD 512GB drive to swap in its place. I imaged the current drive on to the SSD and inserted it. Upon boot, before the boot sequence I receive the 2102 error. There is nothing in the SSD2 slot, as we didn't buy this option. The theory in my workplace (tech firm) is that I may have accidentally turned power on while swapping the drive while no drive was in the primary slot. How/where in the bios do I keep the machine from looking into this slot to boot? Currently what happens is the error is thrown and I have to hit escape to boot windows. This is a minor inconvenience, there is no loss of functionality, but when powering up on a dock or rebooting, it requires user presence. Thanks for your help.

A:2102: Detection error on SSD2 (M.2)

t440s might have three slots for drives - one sata III 2,5" and two m.2 slots. Usually new laptops with HDD are shipping with cache m.2 SSD which is placed in the 3rd slot. Since error 2102 is msata drive detection related I'd suggest to check out your laptop configuration and remove small SSD since you have primary SSD drive. But at first check out the function of small SSD drive - cache only or/and hibernation partition storage. And disable appropriate features for that drive.

Hi, I have been getting this error when I boot the computer and I have to press the escape key for over three months now. I've been doing all kinds of research on here and on google and tech sites. Everyone says that its because the drive in that slot is bad or the connection to it is bad. Well I don't have a drive there. I have also done all kinds of tests, Shot tests long tests and even longer tests and every single test passed with flying colors. I'm so lost on what to do right now. The computer is less than a year old, and I have had so many issues. Its crashed and burned three times in the last two months. I am always able to safe it though but this is something that I just an't seem to find a fix. It does not appear that a good fix for most users? What I don't understand is why I cannot I disable this in BIOS? Anyone have a real solution to this? I see no option to make this error go away? Anyone know if this part can be replaced i find no part number? It also looks like this model Laptop also has a fan issue. It's acting up and I want to replace it but its no longer available? Good day dear forum members! My brand new X1 Carbon arrived fully loaded......with errors. Right out of the box it hit me with a BSOD (CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED). The system boots from the second attempt, but BSOD pops up every 5-10min. All drivers/BIOS updated. 1TB Samsung nvme ssd (PM961 f/w3L0QCXY7) seems to be using a driver dated 6/21/2006 and so does its "Standard NVM Express Controller". Samsung nvme driver cannot be installed because it claims there's no suitable ssd, Samsung magician doesn't recognize the drive either, however, it is properly identified in the device manager. Any suggestions before I ship this back..? Any help appreciated.

Hi I have a 2nd Gen X1 Yoga (20JES00N00) which is not even a year old and, for the third time now, is giving me an error ("2100 Detection Error on Storage Device (M.2) \\ Press Esc to continue.") when I start it up (and pressing Esc as instructed only prompts a question where to boot from, and then leads to the same error again). First time this happened (in March), Lenovo Hotline Zagreb sent me a new SSD, which I had installed by an expert (turned out it was impossible to do without special tools, because a screw had been overtightened at the factory). Second time (in May), I got a new SSD and mainboard installed. (Needless to say, each time with significant downtime and hassle setting up the system by myself again). Now the error is back a third time. Does anybody know of a solution which really works? This is rather frustrating.

This is less than 1 week old X1 Extreme Gen2. I had to repair my ideapad 530s three times and wasted so much time on that so I thought let's try "professional" instead of "media" laptop. I reused my Crucial 1TB NVME SSD that was working just fine in ideapad and stuck it in X1. What I'm seeing in X1 are random freezes, parts of the drive not being accessible, whole drive not being accessible and finally 2101 boot errors. What I tried so far: made sure all drivers are up to date, swapping SSDs in the two slots (stock Intel 256GB with Crucial 1TB), using 1TB drive with external USB-C caddy and placing the 1TB drive back into ideapad. SSD works perfectly fine when out of X1 and creates the same errors regardless of where I place it inside the X1. I also tried some third party drive health check utilities, they all said the drive is fine and Lenovo's boot utility/system checker said the same as well. EDIT: I also tried changing Lenovo power saving plan so that disk never goes to sleep if laptop is plugged in. Another thing I also noticed is that every time I will plug in or out either power cable or headphone jack the screen will go black for a second or two, as if I was connecting an external monitor. Not sure what is going on with this machine. I'm trying to backup data right now and I type this on ideapad. Is there anything I can try before I return this laptop? About a month of regular use with my Yoga 3rd Gen. laptop, I started getting an inconsistent error whenever I attempted to power up the device. For about a week or two I attributed this 2100 error to the software side as nothing hardware had changed, or at least to my knowledge. After no avail after windows updates/intel updates, I then switched to the hardware aspect after reading online posts with a similar issue and potential solutions. I unscrewed the back cover with little difficulty and located the M2 drive. My plan was to reseat the drive as I had read online that this could be a quick fix. However, the stubborn M2 drive would not budge, resulting in some unfortunate stripping. I then tried to increase the padding to the drive as I had hoped the issue was stemming from my daily commute and movement the laptop was experiencing. I first using some eletrical tape as a way to decrease the distance between the back cover to the drive. After using the computer that night, this attempt appeared to be successful as I did not run into any error. However, the next day when I powered on the device, I was faced with the familiar black screen 2100 error. Once again, I then tried to increase the artificial padding and to see if I was on the right track. Today, the first day after the weekend, I had to see if I had finally found a solution but was faced with 2100 errors and constant blue screens/crashes after a few minutes of use. The only options that I have left whic... Read more

After a few days of use I decided to see what happened when I tried to access it via the eSata port. No luck, due to a driver on the eSata card issue with Win 8. So I powered all back down and plugged back in via USB. At this point the Storage pool went

Hey Guys, I ran into a problem today. I changed the SSD in my P52S to another one. Restarted my the computer an started reinstalling Win10. During partitioning I could not remove any of the existing partitions. Furthermore it showed many 0,00 size partition. In total there were around 8 to see in the manager. I quit the installation and rebooted. The SSD is not shown in the BIOS. And the computer shows after the lenovo boot manager the error message 2102 with the drive. During replacing the drive I did not first removed the cable. I removed the tray with the drive while the cable was connected in the controller. The tray sat in its holder very tight and it got free from it abrupt with a yank. During this the cable got riped of the controller on the board. After the error message I inspected the controller and saw the top pins on one side are bend up. Model: T450sEquiped as:Intel i54+4GB RAM256GB SSD (M.2) Configured as boot disk running Win 7 x64500GB HDD as additional storage Issue:Seemingly at random, approx once every one to two weeks while PC is on and at the desktop but not actively being used (meaning no user is sitting in front of it performing tasks) it will error and crash.  The error is a black screen with the following error: 2101: Detection error on SSD1 (M.2) Press Esc to continue. According to the user Esc does nothing and the only escape is to long press the physical power button until a power down occurs.  On reboot the system comes up without issue.  No user has actually seen the crash take place.   MY QUESTION(S):1st.  Is this most likely an issue with the T450s not being able to reliably boot from the m.2 slot or is this more likely an issue with the SSD installed in the m.2 slot?2nd.  Is this something altogether different?  Any (knowledgeable) advice or info appreciated.

A:T450s Thinkpad - ERROR 2101: Detection error on SSD1 (M.2)

It is hard to diagnose without seeing it, but my experience has been that the Gen4 and later CPUs (like yours) support a very low power state that is incompatible with some devices. (that would make it a problem with the card) Make sure you have the latest BIOS and power manager software installed. Look in the device manager and find the M.2 SSD. There should be a power management tab. Turn off the option to allow the system shut the device off to save energy.

I bought my P43s about 2 months ago, I added 16 GB of RAM and a Crucial P1 1TB NVME M.2 SSD to the laptop. After a month of regular use, I started getting the following error: 2101: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD).  Here is the troubleshooting that I have done:- Checked the SSD to ensure it is well position into its connection.- Updated the Bios.- I thought the issue was due to a faulty SSD but after I put the original SSD back in and returned the Crucial SSD, it still got the error. Now I am really not sure what the issue is. Is anyone having a similar issue? Could it be a problem in the miniSATA connection? Thanks

If I put seagate momentus (the previous one) it shows the disk but system freeze.  The same with the new one. BIOS recognizes new wd blue but tests keeps houres (its veeery slow). What could be the problem? The adapter is broken in some way or wd blue doesnt fits. The same is with another sata ii hdd (nothging at all) and with sata iii samsung 840 ssd (only once it shows in explorer) - then nothing. System doesnt see modern disks at all and freezes. Wd blue of course works fine plugged into hdd0. Greatings!

Ok, this is my problem guys, and i have searched everywhere and nothing is been solved.

I have an very old US Robitics 4 port router and a Linksys SPA 2102 VOIP adapter connected to the Router.

So what i am trying to do, that i could of done before is portforward. The thing that bugs me, is that i get 3 Different ip's from nowhere. !st ip shows when i go into command prompt, and shows my ip, then one shows on my router (probably my lan ip) and the VOIP shows my real ip. So my question is how do i portward through these 2 objects and get decent connection with Uttorent etc...

A:Router+ Linksys SPA 2102 VOIP-Portforward

Hi

Your PC has an IP address, such as 192.168.1.5
Your router has an IP address, usually similar to your PC address such as 192.168.1.1
Your actual address is assigned by your ISP, this could be 212.112.234.45.

To port forward you tell the router to send port requests to the IP of your PC.

So to port forward for utorrent you find out which ports are needed (such as 6165)then in your router port forwarding section you tell it to forward requests for port 6165 (example remember) to the IP of the PC 192.168.1.5.

See

www.portforward.com for further help.

Regards

A:Swapping hard drive on HP Minis (2102/110-1025DX)

If both laptops are licensed to run Windows 10 i.e. are "activated" you should be able to swap the hard drives. Windows 10 is activated by Microsoft servers and they should recognize that the transplant host (I will use donor and host to refer to the original computer that had the hard drive and the computer where it ends up, respectively) is OK to run Windows 10. Just to be sure I would have the Key for the host handy but you should not need to use it. Drivers will likely not be an issue as netbooks all are essentially the same hardware. If you are worried, drivers for the host system are held in a C:\swsetup folder on the hard drive which you could copy to use if needed in the host system after transplant.  The issue is the activation of the Office program. I am not as familar with how its licensing and activation works but I think there may be a copyright or EULA issue with what you are trying to do.  You can buy MS Office 2010 Pro Plus for not much cost: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-office-2010-Pro-Plus-licence-Key-download-link-digital-Edition-/152244963867?hash=item237281ca1b:g:6xwAAOSwLnBX3Qgk http://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-Office-2010-Professional-Plus-Full-version-For-32-64BIT-D-L-KEY-/262623934769?hash=item3d259b3931:g:AwgAAOSwQNRXME2X

Hi,

I have looked through previous posts and some come very close to answering my query but as an unforced error at my end is not acceptable I think it best I ask the experts.

Scenario:

My old (very old) machine running XP snuffed it (MB burnt out). As it wasn't cost effective to get a new MB/CPU combo vs a new machine I opted for the new Advent 2102. Cheap and cheerful and it works well.

I also bought a Dynamode caddy so I could transfer all data via usb from the 'old' Cdrive to a folder on the new machine. This worked reasonably well although for some reason some files were deemed outside of current permissions (seemed to be the odd zip file and modelsupport folders in Delphi projects. I can live with that but I would like to find out why)

So, I have a new Win7 machine and have not lost any data. However what I am now faced with a reinstall of Delphi 2005, Indy and whatever 3rd party components I had and all the updates upgrades etc since the original install.

This can be a pain to get right.

Objective:

Therefore I want to find out how to Dual Boot into either the current new Win7 drive or the old XP drive (which I can connect via the usb caddy or internally using the unused IDE port of the G31MX-K MB in the Advent)

What steps do you recommend I take?

Thanks.

I purchased an X1 Yoga w/ 512 GB SSD / i5 a couple months ago - loved the laptop.  After a week or so using it I started getting random blue screens of death.  Following the BSOD, the laptop sometimes reboots normally, other times displays an error during boot "2101: Detection error on SSD (M.2)."  If this error message is displayed, the laptop won't boot and has to be restarted again.  After restarting anywhere from one to five times, it returns to function normally.   After experiencing the same problem intermittently for a couple weeks, I finally called Lenovo and reported the issue and registered to return the laptop, ordered a brand new one (again X1 Yoga / 512 GB SSD, this time i7).   After waiting a couple weeks for delivery, I received the new laptop a few days and freshly installed all of my software, transferred my data over from the faulty laptop, and got back to work as of yesterday.  Everything seemed fine, but then again today I got a BSOD with the new laptop, and the same SSD error!   I can't find much information about this error via Google search, and only found one or two posts on the forum here referencing it that aren't very helpful.   It seems like this must be a relatively uncommon problem, but I've had it with two independent laptops.  I haven't installed any exotic software or made any customizations to the laptop - it seems unlikely that I am causing this problem myself.  ... A:Detection error on SSD (M.2) - X1 Yoga

Does anybody have a clue as to why I would have this SSD detection error issue on two laptops in a row?  The new laptop continues to bluescreen with a "Critical_Process_Died" message once or twice each day, seemingly at random.  It sometimes refuses to boot with the "Detection Error on SSD (M.2)" message.   I'm getting ready to send this second X1 Yoga back to Lenovo in the next few days if I can't find any explanation for this. Any advice from Lenovo?

The storage in my ThinkPad P51 is configured as follows:1TB SSD in the first M.2 slot (came with the Laptop)500GB SSD Samsung 960 EVO in the second M.2 slot1TB SSD Samsung 840 EVO (MZ-MTE250BW) in the 2.5 Sata slot (with an Eluteng mSata to Sata adapter)I'm not sure if it started happening just after installing the 960 EVO in the second M.2 slot or after some time, but when I turn on the machine in the morning (after a shutdown), I get the "2100: Detection error on SSD1 (M.2)" error.By simply turning the machine off and on again it boots correctly and everything works fine.BIOS version is 1.17 but it happened also with 1.16.

My P51 was bought with 500GB hard disk and I replaced it with Samsung PM961 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD. Windows 10 was installed on the SSD and all ran well. Then my P51 began to have this intermittent 2104 errors. Sometimes, I left the laptop running and hours later, the screen is showing the error message as shown in the attached picture. If I press ESC, then I cannot see the PM961 ssd either in the boot manu or in the Lenovo page through the App manu. In summary, the PM961 ssd just disappeared. I have to give the P51 a cold start and all will be running fine. Things I tried: 1. Keep BIOS updated. Now it is latest version (N1UET47W 1.21). 2. Re-install/seat the SSD on different slots. This 2104 error just keeps coming back randomly once per 1-2 weeks, which is really frustrating. I will appreciate any suggestion or comment on this.
