I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread. We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.DDS.scrDDS.pifDouble click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.Notepad will open with the results.Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results. Post both logs (no need to zip attach.txt).Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop. Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet. Information on A/V control HEREPlease download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.
GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.Exit GMER and re-enable all active protection when done.-- If you encounter any problems, try running GMER in Safe Mode.-------------------------------------------------------------Please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the followingThe cleaning process is not instant. I have already tried the EASE ACCESS option but could'nt find to stop this Short Cuts as these keys are well working in My virtual machine , Can any one suggest the answer of it.

A:Keyboard shorcuts opens, when i press R it opens the RUN Command window & when i press E it opens the My computer , How should i remove these shorcuts. When i use these keys in my Virtual machine it works fine, Kindly guide me in this issue

Hi ABDUL WASI,
Thanks for the post!
It seems the shortcut keys are messed up. Did you get this issue before?
By default, Win+R is used to open Run command, and Win+E for opening Computer. It seems these shortcut keys are changed. Now, if you press Win+R or Win+E, which windows will show?
If you figure out which application used this two shortcuts keys. Right-click the application, choose Properties - Shortcut Tab, what's behind the Shortcut key box? Change it with another shortcuts key.
Also fully scan your computer, and if you have a backup, a system restore could help you come back to a nearlier time.

I have upgraded a Dell Latitude with a much larger HDD. I re installed Win XP and went directly to Windows to update all patches etc... Once all downloads were installed I clicked on internet icon and was brought directly to the Internet Options dialog box. I tried changing the web address here and still had the same problem. I might add that I also installed Office 2003 with no problems but during my windows updating I did see some updates for Office as well.
Could Office have made some changes? I've only downloaded Office once or twice and have never seen this before.
Another thought, while downloading, sp3 and IE8 were installed.
Thanks, Tom

I have just installed Microsoft's One Works and now my IE opens with the message that reads "Internet Explorer is open without add-ons" or something close to that. I know this must be a simple setting somewhere, but I can't find where to enable all the add-ons again. I see under "Tools > Manage Add-ons> but they're all listed as Enabled anyway.

Internet explorer opens on its own, but no window appears i can just see it running in process manager(and sometimes hear the I.E clicking noise, as if its loading a page). If i close one another opens. i have it blocked through my firewall but its not ideal and seems to freeze up my computer from time to time. I did exactly as the guide said, but last night, i tried to run the gmer.exe it took hours and when i woke up the next day there was an error message saying corrupt files run chkdsk(dont remeber exact messages). I didnt and switched my computer off. then my computer wouldnt boot. i put the windows cd and ran repair and chkdsk through there and it booted up ok, so i have no log for gmer and not sure i should run it again. Thanks in advance for any help, perhaps it would be easier to just do a clean install?

A:Internet Explorer Opens By Itself

I think I may have identified and solved my problem. A couple of programs (Sk0.exe, Sk1.exe) were running in a temp folder. Maybe Trojans? I deleted them in safe mode, along with a batch of other recent temp files, and as of now, Internet Explorer hasn't opened independently. My computer is also noticeably faster than it has been the last few days. If there's any other suspicious looking programs running in the log above, please let me know. Since the gmer scan didn't find any rootkits, maybe there's no other problems. Anyway, thanks for the look!!!

Hello all, this is my first post here.I am having an issue with IE. It randomly opens windows. The biggest issue is that I don't even use IE, I use Firefox. I did a google search on the issue and came up with a closed post at "http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/128039/internet-explorer-opens-by-itself/"I read through it and followed the steps listed for SilverSol. Of the files listed to be uninstalled, I found CiD Help. I uninstalled the program and then rebooted. I then copy/pasted the line "C:\DOCUME~1\GINA~1.REG\APPLIC~1\INSIDE~1\Dent Base.exe" -uninstall into Run. Came up with an error saying that the file was not found. I Downloaded and ran Deljob.exe. Hello technicians at Bleeping Computer. I have a problem I have been trying to fix but to no avail! At random, internet explorer will magically pop open without any doing on my part. It does not display any malicious sites just the MSN homepage. It does not do it constantly but, when it does occur, it will open like 3 or 4 of them. Also, I do not use Internet Explorer. I use firefox and chrome. I have tried numerous ad-ware and spyware scans but nothing has come up! I'd appreciate it if you folks could help me vanquish this menace!

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE:... This could certainly be an indication of malware infection. Where does it go when it starts? If it goes to anywhere other than your home page, then it is almost a certainty your system is infected. I recommend you follow these instructions.

No idea how long for sure this has going on but it's been awhile. Internet Explorer keeps opening up on it's own and it's getting pretty annoying. The websites it opens up aren't harmless as far as I know but it's still pretty annoying.

After I get done using the dds.scr thing the logs will not pop up.
GMER keeps giving me a blue screen when it gets to a certain point.

Hello cmason,

We can't do anything without seeing a set of logs to find the malware that is causing this.

Use another computer to download the tools listed in our sticky topic New Instructions - Read This Before Posting for Malware Removal Help. Transfer the tools to the infected computer and run the scans.

You may have to save the scans to usb stick and use another computer to post them to us.

I will admit that my normal web access is through Mozilla Firefox but I do use I.E. on a number of occasions. My problem is that, when I put in a search, or type in a URL in to the address bar on I.E., it opens up and/or goes to the page in Firefox. I can't get off my home page in I.E.

I have tried only opening I.E., and/or closing Firefox but it still does the same thing. Can anyone suggest how I can fix it so I can use I.E. too?

[Text of this message copied from the archives of another help forum. There, someone suggested that user set IE to be the default browser. I tried that but it didn't work.]

A:Internet Explorer Opens Firefox Instead.

If you're using XP, give this a try.DefaultBrowser allows you set the default web browser for your user profile in Windows XP, without affecting the other users. I would first like to thank anyone and everyone that offers to help. My problem started yesterday. I personally haven't downloaded anything though I can't vouch for some friends that were over. I use Firefox as my main browser and only use IE for Windows Updates. I also use the View in IE Tab extension for a few sites that just look weird in Firefox.

My problem is that occasionally I will start to hear what seems like a Japanese game show or variety show. There is music and voices. It also sounds like it could be two different shows running at the same time. There are no programs open in the taskbar but the Task Manager will show an iexplore.exe process running. If I end that process the music and voices go away. They then come back some time later. It happens while I'm at the computer working on Firefox or not. I closed out all programs and went to bed but it was going when I woke up this morning. If I don't end the process, it does eventually go away/get quiet (though the process is still running) and then it'll come back sometime later.

So yea,
About a week ago my computer randomly started turning down the volume to 0, and then opening two copies of Internet Explorer, that start playing "Taylor Swift - 22" (not sure if relevant ?)

I've solved the internet explorer problem by disabling it, but it still turns down the volume to 0 every hour or so, which is quite frustrating..

I've spent several hours googleling this, cant find anything. So I turn to you ! Good people of techguy !

I like what IE7 is doing right, but I have one very frustrating problem with it. Every time I click on a program that is linked to a Website, or a site stored in My Favorites; IE7 opens two of that program or site. Very strange I know. With most of them it is just an annoyance to have to shut one down; HOWEVER my Word Search 7 - Bible Discussion Group, is such a HIGH memory useage program, that it totally Freezes up when two windows of that program open up. When I go to the Task Manager to End Task, sure enough there are two WS7 - Bible Discussion Group windows open, both saying "NOT RESPONDING". How do I stop this from happening?

This sounds like you have IE in your Start menu.
To remove this Go to Start >> Settings >> Taskbar >> Start Menu Programs >> Remove >> Startup and select the Microsoft IE icon and click on remove. This should stop it from loading each time you start.

Hi all!

I have a problem with Internet Explorer, when I try to open it you can see it in the task bar and click on it but it doesn't open on screen. I can see it flying to the left of the screen and opening out of site. I've tried uninstalling IE7 also tried to resize the taskbar as micrososft suggests or If resizing your Taskbar does not work, run Regedit and remove the following registry key values which are most likely corrupt. Do not delete the entire key, just the last word which will appear in the right hand pane.

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\window_placement

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas\OldWorkAreaRects

The latter one displays a value of 00 00 00 00 00 05 00 e2 03 00 00 fb ff 00....... after restarting and doesn't solve the problem

As the title describes, I'm having trouble with what I have no idea to define as other than an evil virus from the deep reaches of internet hell.

At the moment, my firefox browser crashes upwards of 5 times in a day. My computer is slow, though not unbearably so. What ticks me off the most, though, is the fact that I have disabled access to Internet Explorer (to at least hinder what was going on until I could get someone to repair my computer), and I can hear clicking in the background of my computer's sound occasionally, as well as various advertisements being played (the last one I remember was Bing), and occasionally a box will pop up, prompting if I want to set Internet Explorer as my current browser. Seeing as how I disabled it, I'm really, really baffled. I can't see it in the task manager when I bring it up under the 'applications' tab.

At the moment, I own CCleaner, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Using the latter two brings up multiple problems, which I have removed, and usually with Malwarebytes, the computer has to restart in order to finish up the process. However, once I restart, I find that I have the same problems with the computer. Scanning again with Malwarebytes returns just as many, if not more, problems than before. I've used TDSS to check for rootkits, but nothing is ever returned.

Can I get some help, please?

Hi,First of all, I see you are running Teatimer.I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system. When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again. If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.How to disable TeaTimer <== click me for instructions. After you disabled Teatimer, download ResetTeaTimer.exe to your desktop. Then run ResetTeaTimer.exe.This will only take a few seconds.I don't believe your Malwarebytes is up to date though, so First of all, please update MalwareBytes, because the databaseversion may be outdated.Start MalwareBytes and click the Update tab. There click "Check for updates"Once the updates are downloaded, perform a quick scan again. The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log, then we'll proceed from there with new steps.Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed w...
