Lenovo Y560 ATI driver with switchable graphics question

Q: Lenovo Y560 ATI driver with switchable graphics question

Hi, I have also posted this in Lenovo's forum, but perhaps someone here have a solution as well. Recently my HDD crashed, so I plugged in a new HDD with a fresh Windows 7 Professional 64bit. I am trying to install the driver for my ATI HD 5730. I downloaded the driver from the Lenovo support page, installed it, and it installed sucessfully. I clicked "view log", all successful;I went to the device manager, it recognized the HD 5730 as well as the Intel Graphic. CCC is in the context manual of the desktop, but it doesn't open. However, the resolution of the screen remains at 1024 x 768. When I restart the computer, it says something along the line of "No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning." I tried to uninstall it, from program files, then cleaned the rest with Driver Sweeper, and then cleaned registry with Glary Uitility. Reinstalled, and same result. I even tried to uninstall all display drivers, and let Windows find the "new" hardware. Windows recognized and install the driver for the Intel Graphic, but failed to install anything for the 5730. I searched the web and I can't seem to find a solution that works. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, I'm having extremely bad problems. I bought this laptop especially for the dedicated GPU and I play games such as Sims 3, Sims 4 and GTA V and even though they're set to "high performance" in AMD, it still uses the integrated GPU. Apparently it has something to do with OpenGL. If they won't let the GPU be used with OpenGL, then what's the point in there being the GPU? A lot of games use OpenGL..... Is there a way to force my computer to use the dedicated GPU? There's no fixed option in BIOS. Only UMA or Switchable. I've tried UMA and that disables the dedicated GPU completely. It disappears from device manager. Thanks.

Hello dear community, recently I bought myself a Lenovo ideapad 305. Mainly for office purposes, however the fact that it has a Nvidia 820m as a secondary graphics card is a nice feature, since I like to play games from time to time. Since my games aren't the most demanding either, they work just fine as long as I use the 820m on it. They do lag considerably using the Intel Graphics Card. So, the thing is, I am considering whether to upgrade to Windows 10, and one central question is: Will the switchable graphics work? You know, my parents taught me to "ALWAYS have the latest drivers on your computer!" so earlier today I went ahead and downloaded the latest driver for the 820m from the nvidia website. Unfortunately, my parents hadn't told me that that's not how it works with hybrid graphic pcs. Apparently if you have two graphics card in one pc only the drivers from the manufacturer will work. That explains why my game suddenly started lagging after the driver update (even THOUGH I had it set to use the nvidia card on the nvidia control panel). I went back to the original driver via the onekey recovery partition now, and it works fine just like before. HOWEVER that means I would need a driver directly from Lenovo that makes this switchable thing work under Windows 10. Is there? If so, does it work? Any experiences? I need to decide this rather quickly, what with work and also the free upgrade period ending rather soon. Thanks a lot in advance!Gre... Read more

I can guess what the official comment will be from Lenovo reps here... but I am wondering if some actual users of switchable graphics laptops can please comment on their personal experience. This is my first time using a switchable graphics laptop. Do I have to use the Lenovo website drivers designed for this laptop? Or can I go directly to the Intel and AMD websites, download the latest drivers for each separately, then install them separately?  Lenovo 510si7-6500 2.5GHzGPU Intel 520 / AMD R7 M460Win10 64

locked on the Intel Motherboard and unable to switch to ATI Radeon 3650 My W500 is locked into the motherboard Intel graphics card and I want to switch it to the ATI Radeon HD 3650 chip/ card. I want to switch the graphics drivers to the ATI Radeon drivers and chipsets /video card. My Catalyst Controll Center drivers are installed but they won't load because another driver or application or system is blocking them. I do not know which is the case because the error message is incomplete and I can not read the complete message.. I am also mystified because the product I purchased from Lenovo was a W500 with the ATI FirePro V5700 card (512 MB of VRAM). I used to see this card in my device driver when I first used the PC. But since last November the Device Manager has declaimed that the card is an HD 3650 card. I've made no physical change in the system. Also, the little green battery icon system that used to reside in the TASKBAR haqs disappeared. I don't understand where this icon went to and why did it go? I need help in restoring this icon to my taskbar. My current ATI Radeon driver inforce is: ATI Radeon HD 3650, Driver version:, effective 6/02/2008 Thank you. BEK477.

A:Lenovo W500 Issue. Switchable graphics feature

How should one go about determining that the video card is properly installed and working? I am assuming that the ATI Radeon HD 3650 or FirePro V5700 card is installed but how can I tell. Is there a way to open the back of the laptop W500 and to visually confirm that the video card is properly installed in the motherboard. I am refering to the idea that the card has been disconnected from the motherboard. I recall that the Lenovo support site had a schematic diagram of the video card's installation but I can not find it today. Does anyone have any idea as to how I can confirm the that the video card is plugged in and working?

I got a new hard drive and installed windows 7 on it. My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 custom quad edition. I installed the AMD driver for it and updated and installed the catalyst controll manager. On the intel gpu its just that gpu running and the ati one is off, but when I switch to the high performance one(ati), both of the gpu's are on and the intel one is supposed to be off. i can see this by looking in the device manager --> display adapters. On my old hard drive just one would be on at a time never both like the high setting is now. This is a problem because when the high performance one is on there actually both on which makes it run like the power saver one which sucks.

I've seen others online with this issue, posted on the HP site with high hopes in a response, and am hoping to get to the bottom of this issue.

Bought my Dv7-6195us around August (2011) and started having these exact same issues around the end of September.

My setup is included in the .txt file attached to this post.

I have done all of the tasks and suggestions that are given on the HP site, updated all of my drivers (that HP provides on there website, that Intel provides on their website, and that Windows Update detects), removed any possibly problematic new software (had my current setup all installed on a desktop machine before (custom built) with absolutely no problems whatsoever), ran the lastest anti-virus-malware-rootkit detection and found no errors or problems, did multiple Memory, HDD, and periphreal hardware tests all passing 100% successful with no errors reported everytime they are run, have ran SFC in command prompt and it comes up clean, no errors, and have tested both "Fixed" and "Dynamic" modes in the new BIOS update for the video setup, which doesn't seem to alleviate the problem.

Alright, that being said, here are the exact symptoms my comp. demonstrates when having this problem. Some sort of video processing is occurring at the time of the BSOD. It could be playing a video in either Media Player or VLC, Skype video-chatting, or the like. I haven't experienced the problem while watching in-browser videos, like on YouTu... Read more

Hi and Welcome -I searched the Microsoft Windows 7 forums and found this answer that fixed one "Error 0x490" problem. - - -Your boot information is bad. afaik, you will have to do a startup repair to fix it.I could not find a MS link for this but I found this >> http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html to boot into the recovey options >> (USE METHOD 2 !!!)and this >> http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html to do the startup repair which actually looks at things like MBR and the BOOT folder. As with anything of this type, I strongly recommend backing up anything and everything - create an image of each and every partition.Hope that helps. How did this happen? I rather suspect that something happened, the system rebooted, and stopped at a screen which had something like system repair as a default, the timer went out, it did its thing, and unfortunately incorrectly. i have lost opsyses that way.I strongly recommend always setting:Control Panel / System / Advanced System Settings / (System Properties) Advanced tab / look at "Startup and Recovery" , click settings button - in system failure: uncheck "automatically restart"This will enable you to see any errors that are causing a reboot.See if the information is any help to you -Regards -

2 gB of RAM isn't sufficient to take advantage of the capabilities of this system. I'd suggest a minimum of 4 gB with 8 gB being optimum (IMO)

You have both Norton/Symantec and ESET installed. Please do the following:

Anti-Virus Removal:
Please do the following:
- download a free antivirus for testing purposes: Free AntiVirus
- uninstall the Norton from your system (you can reinstall it, if so desired, when we're done troubleshooting)
- remove any remnants of Norton using this free tool: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_...080710133834EN
- IMMEDIATELY install and update the free antivirus, then check to ensure that the Windows Firewall is turned on.
- check to see if this fixes the BSOD's
NOTE: NEVER run more than 1 anti-virus, firewall, Internet Security/Security Center application at the same time.

Hello folks!

One of my friends having a problem with her laptop's switchable graphics (Intel & AMD Radeon) driver on Windows 8 OS. She wants to switch to Windows 8 from 7, but had issue with graphics driver. I also tried to help, downloaded the latest graphics driver for HP Pavilion G6 1215-et (64bit) named "SP59147" from the main site of HP, installed correctly but it says "WDDM 1.0.blablaba" on device manager, and shows its model as Radeon HD7000 with a caution sign..

I also searched the problem on the net a lot, but could not find anything, neither from HP support pages. Tried to install old but main driver from Win 7, it worked, but still had problems while switching, the game and videos didnt work well, also laptop heated itself a lot. Between all of these steps and the others, used Driver Fusion to clean/erase package remains, and restarted at each step.

Does any of you has a solution for that HD 6470M on Windows 8? Any idea/suggestions about it? All comments are welcomed!

Hi there. My issue is related to my switchable graphics option. I have an Intel hd 3000 and an AMD radeon (I'm not sure of the exact model as I can't search for it as my machine is currently stuck in a system restore loop so I'm having ti use my phone right now). There is one game I use regularly which, for some reason or another, is incompatible with my Intel graphics chip so I had previously used the right click on my desktop menu where I would select switchable graphics, and then manually allocate that particular game to my AMD chip rather than my Intel one. When the game updated yesterday, it reverted back to my Intel chip for some reason and when I right clicked on my desktop, the option to change it had disappeared. I looked on this forum for an answer to my issue and came upon this answer: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Switchable-Graphics-Options-Missing/td...Which appeared to fit my problem exactly. However, when I did as the instructions told me to and uninstalled both of my graphics devices and their drivers, and then rebooted, followed by installing the file linked to in the answer and rebooting again, this resulted in my Intel 3000 disappearing entirely from my device manager list, and my AMD chip being stopped by windows as it has reported an error.I tried reinstalling the previous driver linked to the AMD chip, but that did nothing at all. So I attempted to do a system restore (as I had created a system restore point before attemptin... Read more

The switch isn't broken (I've moved it back and forth), and I've tried the software switch ( Fn+F5), but that doesn't work either! I dual boot Windows 8+7, and neither OS has wifi on. I've also tried uninstalling drivers/disabling the adapter via Device Manager, but no luck! I also went into the BIOS, disabled the adapter through there, launched Windows 8, then rebooted and reenabed the Wifi, and that didn't work either =(.EDIT: Windows troubleshooting says "Turn on wireless capability: Use the switch on the front or side of the comptuer, or function keys if available, to enable wireless capability on this computer".My warranty ended over a year ago!Paying to send in the laptop for this would suck. Do you have the same specification as indicated above?
Would that be the same issue when it is on the lower slot 0 ?

So I have recently had an issue with the y560 ideapad laptop (I know WAY past use of life but it's still plodding along just fine).  The display driver I think is crashing after the windows load screen on boot.  Make a long story short, through my diagnosis of the laptop I thought it may be the thermals from the video card and CPU.  Ergo, I pulled the thing apart replaced the thermal compound and was still running into the same issue of the laptop not making to the login section on boot and occasionally throwing a black screen up in safe mode. Went in via safe mode (very odd by the way to get there on Windows 10) and nuked the drivers for the old 5000 series mobility AMD card.  I was still experiencing the same issues after a fresh driver reinstall so I just resigned myself to using the laptop with the built in graphics on the MOBO instead of the video card. Well after about an hour of putzing around feeling sorry for myself, Windows blanks the screen out and pops up with the drivers re-installed and the screen looking like normal.  So my question is two fold: Anyone have a solution for the blank screen after the windows boot screen (all research points back to this being a problem years ago but driver updates seem to have solved the issue). Is Windows 10 doing funny things with my drivers in the background unbegonist to me?  (While I have little doubt Windows IS doing things, I'm looking for a way to turn it off seeing as how... I have a laptop, HP4540s, which I use to capture video from a USB external capture card. It works fine, but I noticed that the laptop seemed to be using the Intel graphics all the time. On reading, it seems the default is not based on video processing, but that the laptop decides to use the ATI Graphics when 3D Video is being watched.  I dont' do 3D, but wanted to get the value of the high performance graphics, after all that is why I bought this laptop. So I set the Switchable Graphics to use the High Performance by adding the Capture application in to Catalyst Control Center and setting it to High Performance. I saw no change in preformance, and the Laptop CPU Occupancy remained just as high as when using the built in Intel Graphics. I had one occurance of a blue screen after a few hours running on the High Performance setting, and so have gone back to the default, and have lost my comfort in this so called High Performance setting. I don't know if it is even doing anything, and if so, if it is working correctly, due to the blue screen. (It was obviously rare, but I can't afford it to ever happen). I am happy to buy a new laptop, but even new ones are like this, so have a level of concern about this facility, and don't know what to do, to achieve the best performance with the best stability.  Laptop Specs: Probook HP 4540s Intel Core i7 3632QM at 2.2GHz 8GRam Windows 7 Pro 64bit SP1

Good morning everybody,

I have bought my laptop 1 year ago and everything was going ok, i installed many programs (Adobe illustrator) and games (PES2011) and many others and i faced no problems.
One day, my cousin used the laptop to watch a new movie but he forgot to charge the battery during that time until the laptop shuts down alone due to empty battery.
On the next day, i tried to power on my laptop it starts normally until it reached the Windows 7 logo it automatically shuts down. I tried again for several times with the same result then a blue screen with white writings on it was displayed on the screen (harddisk failure).
I bought a new Toshiba 500GB HDD and burned a new Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DVD to install a fresh new copy of it but i have faced the following:
1- when I power on the laptop it works normally.
2- I press F12 to choose the device to boot from (Boot from DVD)
3- It starts normally and a windows 7 screen appears with a loading bar. It is filled quickly in the first time then a new screen appears with a loading bar starts to fill but after around 75% of the loading bar is filled the laptop shuts down.
I tried to restart it for several times with the same result.

I make the following points to try to restart the laptop but always with the same result:
1- Remove the new HDD and then insert it
2- Remove the Rams and then insert them
3- Remove the battery and then insert it.

A:Booting problem with my Lenovo Ideapad Y560

Hello Hasan and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please forgive me but I'm a little confused. You say:

I bought a new Toshiba 500GB HDD and burned a new Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DVD to install a fresh new copy of it but i have faced the following:
1- when I power on the laptop it works normally.
2- I press F12 to choose the device to boot from (Boot from DVD)
3- It starts normally and a windows 7 screen appears with a loading bar. It is filled quickly in the first time then a new screen appears with a loading bar starts to fill but after around 75% of the loading bar is filled the laptop shuts down.
I tried to restart it for several times with the same result.

- Are you replacing the original laptop hard drive with the new Toshiba or is the Toshiba an external USB hard drive?
- Are you trying to clean install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 to the original laptop hard drive or to the new Toshiba?
- Where did you get the ISO file for Windows 7 Ultimate?

Hi guys,My Laptop configuration: HW: Lenovo y560 with ATI Radeon HD 5730 (no Intel graphic card on the board)         Intel Core i7-740QM, 1.73 GHz with 2.93 GHz max turbo, 4 cores, 8 threads, 6M cache OS: Windows 7 64x with latest updates. Video driver: ATI driver version: 8.752.0.0 Issue: The screen turns completely blank every time when I turn on my laptop and the windows logo disappears. The login window doesn't appear at all and there is no response. Besides, it?s not possible to reboot a laptop by using Ctrl-Alt-Del on this stage and only power button helps. However everything works fine in safe mode. Workaround that works:Start my laptop into safe mode.Reboot a laptop into standard mode without any changes. As a result, everything works fine untill I turn off my Lenovo. What has been tried in order to solve the issue with no success:- installed the latest drivers of ATI Radeon and beta crimson drives;- changed power options to minimize performance;- edited registry's values (enableULPS, EnableBrightnessInterface2);- updated the bios to the latest version. I have been really tired up to find a solution of this awful problem for three weeks. Please help.

Sorry for disturbing but my laptop has come up with another problem.
The left speaker gives off a screeching noise very often while playing sound, be it games or movies.
Most probably a hardware problem, but not exactly sure.

Hello All, I have a Lenovo Y560 [email protected] GHz Model laptop. Recently the ATI Radeon graphics card which comes along with the motherboard stopped working. I took it for servicing and they did reballing of the card. It worked for 6 months and I am facing the same issue now. I am currently managing without it. 1. I am thinking of replacing the motherboard. I don't see anyother option left now. Please let me know if you have any good options which would not let me replace the motherboard. 2. If I have to replace the motherboard which is Lenovo KL3 model then which is the other model motherboard that I can buy as I have been seeing lot of issues(personally and on other threads too) regarding the graphics card on this particular mother board? 3. I have already upgraded the RAM on this laptop to 8GB which is the maximum that can be supported by this motherboard. Anyother good option which would support 16GB of RAM would help me a lot? Regards,RS

Hello, i have a laptop. (Lenovo y560 ) And laptop's graphic card is ati radeon HD 5730.
(i have no another graphic card like Intel hd graphic)
Intel Core i7-740QM, 1.73 GHz with 2.93 GHz max turbo, 4 cores, 8 threads, 6M cache

I have a big problem with black screen. In a nutshell if i try to install amd grapchic card drive (latest drive, beta crimson drive, first drive of my laptop's manufacturer website , 14.4, 13.3 or others) with plugged in then i see black screen between the loading during.
But if i try to install this graphic card drive with battery (plugged out) then everything can be fine and there is no black screen. Also if i remove the ati graphic card drive on safe mode i can entry on VGA with plugged in or plugged out ( battery) there is no problem. But i have to install amd driver on properly for 3D programs and some games.

By the way i established windows 7, 8.1 and 10 (x64) but there was no solution. I always saw black screen. Also i should say that i tried to install with battery afterthat plugged in but the screen froze.

I searched, read and applied many method as people said to solve this problem. But i didn't solve yet.

I have been really tired to find a solution this awful problem for three weeks. I read many article, topic and i tried to every method what i saw on those places as this pages. Especially i performed regedit method ( change the crossfire 1 to 0 or 0 to 1 i mean ULPS, also i tried change the value of KMD_EnableBrightnessInterface2 1 to 0... Read more

HP DV6 6121tx
Windows 7 64bit

I just reinstalled Windows and I want to update my graphics drivers to the latest ones (13.1). I'm runnning Dynamic mode.
So at first I installed the latest HP provided AMD Display drivers from HP's website
AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver HP Pavilion dv6-6121tx Entertainment Notebook PC | HP? Support

Now I thought I'm supposed to install any new versions of HP drivers *over* this since this HP one contained drivers essential for dynamic switching. But if I run the 13.1 installer and view the log, it skips over the display driver part and just updates AMD install manager and some other useless components.

How do I install 13.1 without messing up dynamic switchable graphics?

A:Updating graphics drivers on switchable graphics

Unless HP decides to release an updated driver, you're basically stuck with what you have. As you found out the driver from AMD won't install. That is because it doesn't include/support the switchable graphics.

Now with that said there is this modded set,

that includes both the latest AMD and Intel driver, and is modded to work with most laptops with that combination.

This happens randomly, and there is no particular, specific trigger.
Has taken place twice.
The first time around, I went through the boot menu (F12) and selected my hard drive.
The second time, I did the same. But, a resume after hibernation made my screen freeze at a black screen with a blipping, white underscore (_). Ctrl+Alt+Del restarted my computer. And it is now working properly, or so I hope.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening? And how do I fix this?

HELLO TEAMI have bought a second hand Lenovo y560, and I have done a clean win7 Ultimate OEM x64 Bit install. After this I couldn't see the ATI  graphics card in the device manager. (im not sure it was there before install). I have done all possible methods to find it using AMD software update tool, but it says no hardware found.. it was showing 2 Intel HD Graphics Cards Later I tried fiddling with bios and changed some values in "Configuration Tab"related to switchable graphics  to "discrete", below that some parameter like VMM ( blame my memory not sure) . Later I rebooted after saving changes and the screen has gone black. I tried bios update recovery (Wincris USB bootable method) option mentioned in the forum, and it did not work.. (Earlier I had tried updating BIOS, it failed and I used Wincris recovery by making bootable USB and it was successful) Can any tech friends out here could help me getting back to screen, Thanks a lot in advance Jakes

Hello!  After updating my graphics card (Mobility Radeon 5730HD), it keeps crashing when playing games and it never did that before.  I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it fresh from the support site (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT072743), but the problem keeps persisting.  What can I do to make it work normally again?

Well, just tried uninstalling everything again, even the contents of the Drivers folder, but the same thing happened once again. Gonna open my case up and check if there are any visible signs of damage in there.

I Just purchased the HP Notebook from costco last weekend and it says it has Nvidia Graphics but when i look at the display properties i see the intel graphics adapter, so i looked online and on HP forums to see how to use the nvidia graphics and from what i found wasn't very helpful (I did learn a couple things) but it didn't let me switch intel for nvidia. i did install the new nvidia drivers from the geforce experience app on the laptop and i see both the display adapters and as soon as i tell it to use nvidia as defalut display and click apply i restart the system and check the display properties and it still says intel graphics adapter i am getting frustrated to the point to where i am going to return the product as i have a 90 day return policy  but i want to figure it out and see if there is a way to use just the nvidia driver or am i stuck with the intel to which i will be returning the product for a refund. i have even gone as far as letting the computer do a complete restore and see if that helps change things. so far it seems to be a decent Notebook for a 17.3" but i paid extra for the dedicated nvidia card and touch screen and i would prefer to use it as i have a nvidia card in my desktop and it seems flawless any help would be appreciated and acknowledged thanks

A:Switchable Graphics

You are not appreciating how the switchable graphics works. You set the video to work with the high-powered nVidia card on an app by app basis in the nVidia Control panel. So for example if you have a game or google earth and you want to use the nVIdia graphics just set that program to run on the nVidia. You cannot make it run at all times with nVidia nor do you need to. The Intel video is fine for email and regular web browsing and uses way less power.  If this is going to be too hard for you, take it back to Costco. I see where they now sell Alienware laptops. Probably a bit pricier but if you want to always be using the discrete video you need a gaming type laptop.

UPDATED! - 15 Feb 2013

Firstly, how do I get it working?

NEW: First, read through the list of current options (Feb 2013). More details and history below...
Long story short, download the latest OEM Windows 8 drivers (e.g. for HP, by finding your model on 24/7 Online support for HP's Home and Home Office Products | HP? Support, or using the NotebookReview: HP Drivers and Software Forum).

For other OEM Support see the Intel OEM Support websites and AMD Global OEMs pages.
Also, be sure to CHECK if you NEED TO UPDATE YOUR BIOS - see HP's Consumer Notebooks and Windows 8 - Overview of BIOS updates and this updated post for HP Windows 8 Support pages, options and updates on new HP drivers!

Alternatively, you could use the latest Leshcat (3rd party, community-supported) driver (see the end of this post for instructions).

If you THEN want the latest AMD versions, proceed to upgrade them after installing one of the above, using the AMD Catalyst 12.10 and/or AMD Catalyst 12.11 Beta releases. To get the best of both worlds, mix and match like this but ONLY if you know what you are doing (see here for more info).

If you are having (Code 43) errors with your AMD Radeon, i.e. ?Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)?, then the fix is to load AMD-signed Intel driver in Device Manager. For more details see this post, and this post on how to fix.

If you are upgrading from other drivers, see this post, option 3. Same goes for uninstalling ... Read more

A:Win 8 AMD Switchable Graphics FAQ

Eagerly waiting for Windows 8 to support switchable graphics. I am using Leschcat's driver for my 6770M on Windows 7 -- awesome performance.

One problem I have with Windows 8 is that it only runs on the AMD gpu, and not the Intel one. Due to this, it drains my battery really quick. Is there a way to make it use Intel only until switchable graphics are supported?

Also, the Intel 3000 drivers posted here crash after 2 weeks of installation. This has happened multiple times. The ones by Microsoft have the auto-bridghtness adjustment on and there is no control panel for the driver to turn it off.

I recently purchased a Samsung laptop with switchable graphics. I've selected the high performance card for GTA4, however the benchmark test for GTA4 detects the integrated card being used. Is there any way to check which card is currently active so I can determine whether GTA4 is detecting the wrong card or the Laptop is using the integrated card?

Thanks in advance.

A:Switchable Graphics

Switchable graphics determines which card to use based on load/demand. It should switch to the non-integrated graphics card when you launch the game. Do you really need to run the benchmark? You can compare the performance to other people using a similar graphics card to see if its up to par.

You can also do a comparison by turning off the switchable graphics in the BIOS, it can be re-enabled after doing the testing.

Hello, i have been looking around the drivers page for my laptop and i found an AMD graphics card driver i had a look online and the i found out that some hp pavilion notebooks have switchable graphics is was wondering if my laptop was compatible with it and how to enable it. i tried to install the driver and said that another device was detected.

A:Switchable Graphics

Hi: Below is the link to the product specs page for your notebook... http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/5355006/model/5435448/document... It only has the onboard Intel HD 4000 graphics. HP puts all the available driver combinations on the entire model series support pages. That means the switchable graphics drivers would be for the HP 15-e### models that come with the AMD/Intel switchable graphics.
