Q: MS Office 2010 Product Key

Bought the computer with MS Office Professional Plus 2010 installed. Now software is corrupted (programs/office/change - corrupted, reinstall). Before removing and reinstalling, I want to make sure if have the product key on hand. Is there a way to get it from Lenovo or otherwise? Microsoft support cannot help (tried already).I do NOT see a Microsoft sticker on the back of the computer.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi regulatorFix, welcome to the community,

The product license key would have been in the box or alternatively did you perhaps create a microsoft account in which case the key will be stored and retrievable through your microsoft account.

i have Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit sp1

all the time when i make download for M.Office i got this message
'' There are no products by this package installed on this system''

A:need help - product key for M-Office 2010

Looks like you are installing just SP1 update, rather than full version of Office.

In the same email with the product key there should be full links to download your full version of Office or at least customer service number.

Every Office key has a specific version for it, you can not download just any version of Office (example: keys for PRO PLUS are not going to work with Home edition etc).

Welcome Madamfrosan to the windows 7 forums.

The Key that is on your computer is the key for your windows version Not for office 2010. That key is only available from Microsoft. You can buy a key either on-line from microsoft or most large computer stores will see you the carton that has the key inside of it.

A:recovering office 2010 product key

Hello disturbed13 and welcome to the forums

This should be relatively simple

The Office 2010 product key is stored in the Software registry hive, however it is in an encoded format and we'll need a tool to decipher it.

I would like you to boot into Linux and open the file manager. Navigate to the following folder on your Windows hard drive:

C:\Windows\system32\config

You should see a few files in here, the ones without extensions are your registry hives. Copy and paste the file "software" (there is no file extension) to a a USB flash drive so we can access it from another computer.

For the next part, you'll need access to a Windows computer.

Now I would like you to download ProduKey (by Nirsoft):

ProduKey - Recover lost product key (CD-Key) of Windows/MS-Office/SQL Server

Direct download link for 32 bit computers: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/produkey.zip
Direct download link for 64 bit computers: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/produkey-x64.zip

Insert your flash drive into the Windows PC and run ProduKey.When ProduKey launches, press File > Select Source and you will be presented with a new menuOn this, select Load the product keys from an external Software Registry hive and you will be prompted to open a fileNavigate to the software hive on the external drive and open the hive

All of your product keys should now be displayed If you right click on them, you should be able to copy them directly.

I would recommend that you save this list elsewhere jus... Read more

I had Office 2003 installed on my laptop and when Outlook stopped working, I decided to remove 2003 and install Office Professional 2010. I followed all the instructions. I bought 2010 a while back and installed it on my desktop computer where it works fine. The box says that I can use it on up to 3 computers at home. I installed 2010 but I still could not open Outlook. After reading about a regedit fix on this forum, I tried it and it then opened fine (thank you Captain Sparrow!) Great, I thought.

However, whenever I open any application in Office, I get told that I have to activate the product. It then tells me that my product key is invalid. How is this when I had to put in the product key at the beginning when I installed it? Surely if it was invalid it would have told me when I first installed. I have checked that there are no other versions of Office installed and I can't see any on the Install/Uninstall programme. Maybe there is something still there that I don't recognise. There is a whole load of Microsoft Visual C stuff there. And another one is called Microsoft Office File Validation Add In which has been there since August 2014. I removed Microsoft Silverlight and Microsoft Works.

I am at the stage where I want to throw the whole damn thing out of the window. Someone PLEASE help me!!!

Hi

I work in a local large PC outlet and recently reset a laptop too factory for a customer who had Office 2010 Home & Student on it, she does not know any login creds nor has the product key but we have proof of purchase from my store - I called one Microsoft number who said it would be possible to sort out and that the customer & I could call another number he supplied, but when we did the person on that end was more sales based and said that it could not be sorted out and that she would have to re-purchase the product!!! I was totally astounded! at the shop I work at we swipe/scan all Microsoft cards/discs so the purchase goes too Microsoft, the 2010 Home & Student discs were purchased 18 months ago.

is there any way for MS too pull up the proof of purchase off our receipt and simply give the lady a new key and download link for H&S 2010?

I cant believe that she was told to purchase it again...if i lost my car keys I wouldn't have to buy a whole new car..its just daft.

thanks

Snadge, I do not believe it is possible to retrieve the product key from a restored system. If it was an original installed demo version of office then they evidently purchased the key while on-line. They should be able to go to the store and retrieve their key. Otherwise your out of luck.

I installed Office 2010 today from genuine disks that had a product key on one of the sleeves; however, it didn't ask for a product key as they ran and reran and reran it the rest of the day.

I'm sure that at some point they will have to use that key; but, I would like to know: What's up with that?

A:Office 2010 didn't ask for a product key on installation -- why?

More information: This was a copy of Microsoft Office donated by Microsoft to a non-profit organization and supposedly had a six-user license. They have been using this on several computers for several days now and there has still been no pop-up asking for a product key.

Surely someone here has installed Office 2010 besides me. What is your experience? What is your take on this?

This is a legit disk. Why is no product key being asked for?

Ok so I'm planning on re-installing Windows, which means I need to download Office 2010 again. However, I simply can't find the correct email that Office is tied to. I've tried the only 4 emails of mine it could possibly be tied to to no avail. The computer/Office were a gift from my parents for graduation, but their work/home emails don't have an account tied to them. So I'm at a loss.

I ran into this problem before, trying to switch from click to run to MSI. However, I was able to work around it by, I think, downloading the 30 day trial or whatever, and activating from there. However, I can't seem to find a 2010 trial anymore. A Google search for it takes me to where it would be, but then I click on "try it now" (as seen here Try Office 2010 - Microsoft Office) (Home and Student version, if it matters), and it redirects me to the new 2013 version, which obviously isn't what I want.

Any thoughts on how to work around this? I could always try customer service, I guess, but if there's some alternate source to get the trial from that would be great. Thanks.

Edit: Also, I really want it to be the MSI version, not click to run, so I think that would affect what to download. Thanks again.

I downloaded and ran the trial version of Office 2010 Professional Academic version. After a few days I decided to activate it and entered the 25-character product key which accompanied a purchased CD version of the program. When I go into any of the programs (Excel, Word, etc) and check to see if Office 2010 is authenticated (File > Help) I see displayed "Trial Product" and it says my trial period will expire in 26 days. Below that it reads "Product Activated." In other words, according to the almighty wisdom and omniscience of Microsoft I have BOTH an unactivated trial version and an authenticated version of their product. I would have thought that once I activated the product it would no longer say I have a trial version. Should the "Trial Product" bit still show there? If not how do I get rid of it? Office 2010 Home and Business no longer works after installing Norton 360. The title bar of any Office application shows Unlicensed product and a pop-up displays indicating that the license cannot be verified and I should repair the Office program via Control Panel.

I have repaired Office several times. I have also removed it completely and installed it again, to no avail. I tried to remove Office with Fix It 50450, but that program could not be executed due to an unexpected error during the installation of the package; there may be an error with the package, error code 2738.

I have been in contact with the Norton helpdesk and they have checked my system remotely. According to them the problem has nothing to do with Norton. The history showed no signs of Norton blocking anything.

Going back to a restore point is not possible, because with the installation of Norton all previous restore points were apparently deleted.

Office versions that come preinstalled are trial versions with the exception of Office 2010 starter which is a different animal. You can check your activation status this way:

Also, how did you install Outlook, outlook is not included in the home & student version. So its possible what you have now is standard or pro edition and thats why its asking for a key.

Just started using a new workstation with Office 2010 installed by OEM. Everything worked fine for a few days, and then every time i attempt to open a Word file or Excel file i get the MS Office dialog box that states "please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office 2010". The dialog box stays visible for 30-45 seconds and then the program opens and works fine.

Ran a repair, four times, didn't fix it.

All of my research leads me to a solution of uninstalling and re-installing. I'm not buying that if everything worked fine for several days, that a bad install will make the program stop functioning properly.

I also noticed, while visiting help within outlook, that the product was still a trial version and not currently activated. I have entered the activation code numerous times with no luck.

Any suggestions? This is becoming extremely inefficient.

Have you ever had a previous version of Office on this copy of win7?
or

Do you have any component of a previous office suite installed still

I have seen this in the past with Viso that was due to remnents of an earlier trial remaining on disk and in the registry.

I also found that if I cancelled the configuration screen the Viso would load without problems without the need to wait for completion.

There are some rather involved solution stems on Microsoft website - cannot find them at the present but will try to look for them.

The problem was that I could never get the removal steps to actually cure the issue and I put up with the error until my next re-install of Win7, which was not to long in the case of that system

A:Up-grade from Office 2003 to Office 2010 or Office 2013

I can't speak to Office 2013, but I've done numerous upgrades to Office through 2010.  When you install the new version, you have the option to keep the old version or just replace it.  Starting with Office 2007 the familiar menu bar has been replaced with the ribbons which take a lot of getting used to for folks used to older versions.  There's a little program called UbitMenu that will add most of the menu bar functions back in the 2007 and 2010 versions that a lot of folks find helpful.  If you do opt to have two different versions installed at the same time, what happens is that when you switch from one to the other, it goes through a juggling act that takes a minute or so.  It's a bit of a pain, but if you need it, it could be a convenience.

Good luck.

I tried deleting the key in safemode or by altering the permissions of it and running regedit in admin mode but nothing worked. I'm running win 7 x64.

I would greatly appreciate any help so I can clean this and install the office 2010 trial.

i am mail merging (word 2010 and excel 2010 database).

when i choose to send the messages as HTML, all is good.

when i choose to send text or attachment - i get this security warning. even after pressing "allow" - nothing happens. (nothing = no trace of messages in outbox and no mail sent)

i know that: "If you choose a format other than HTML, an Outlook message may inform you that a program is trying to access e-mail addresses and send e-mail. This message is a security measure designed to protect against viruses that replicate through e-mail. To continue with the merge, select the Allow access for check box in the security warning dialog box, and then select the amount of time that you need to complete the merge. Click Yes. If you are prompted again, continue to click Yes until the merge is complete."

thank you very much!!!!

Can this be done?

A week ago, I bought a new CD of MS Office Home and Student 2010. Before I did that, I asked my wife, who has occasionally used Access 2003, "do you still need a database program?". I SWEAR she said "no I don't use it any more". The FIRST time she sat down to use MS Office 2010 she asked me "where's the database program?" aarrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh....

So is it possible for me to buy a way to upgrade the version I have now, or must I buy a completely new stand alone CD for just Access 2010?

A:Adding MS Access 2010 to my MS Office Home and Student 2010

I have NOT seen any upgrade to a higher package.

I think the only way is to buy the stand alone package.

Now that you know, you will be buying the Pro version when you upgrade to 2013!

Hi all
Having totally WIPED office 2010 from my system and re-installed again the problem I had with the "Purge" folder not appearing now is SOLVED.

However you still don't get a line through the deleted items -- but they are in Trash folder now.

This is BETTER but still NOT WHAT IS NEEDED -- as another computer with Outlook 2007 doesn't get the "Non purged" items in the inbox which it should do.

IMAP should effectively leave items in the Inbox until purged -- otherwise I might as well go back to POP3 - more fiddly to manage whern you leave stuff on the server but it works.

What I'm resigned to doing now is to use the REST of the office 2010 suite (EXCEL etc) which is really good but stick with Outlook 2007 for email.

Cheers

A:Outlook 2010 Saga with IMAP, Can I use Office 2010 and

I do like the way 2010 deletes the emails without purge, but I have found that rules randomly fail and some mail goes awol for a while when switching between folders (it reappears after a while)

IMO outlook 2003 is still the best (I hated 2007) but I will reserve full judgement until 2010 is out of beta.

Just bought a new laptop with Windows7 64bit installed-my first exposure to Windows7. I had Office 2007 installed on my old Dell 32 bit machine. I had also recently pruchased Office 2010 and installed that on my new machine.

Now, when I try to open those 32bit 2007 files with 64bt 2011, Iget an error message that "no picture file is available", or words to that effect. When I try to "open with", the only option displayed is "Microsoft Office" with an icon that looks like a picture file. When I try to browse to the proper office program(Excel, for example), there are none of teh Office suite programs displayed, only "Microsoft Office".

I can navigate seperately to the proper progran, Excel, etc., and drag the file into the application, and it opens, and all seems to work OK. I "save as" the proper application file, but it still will not open with double-click on the file name.

I have not seen this particular item in the forums and would appreciate very much some help in fixing this issue.

Thanks,

Grubby

I'm running Windows 7 on my new computer, which came with a trial version of Office 2010. Rather than buy the full version when the trial expired, I installed the Office 2003 I had on my old -- now dead -- computer. I now find that I can't open the Word and Excel files I created with the 2010 version. Is there a 'cloud' site where I could send the 2010 files and have them returned to me as standard .xls and .doc files? Or is there a free converter available for download?

i remember with windows xp and office, you could go to a different part of the microsoft windows update website in Internet Explorer, and it would prompt you with ActiveX to allow updates for Office, and after you did that then when you went to the normal windows (xp) update site there would be a whole other section of updates for microsoft office available. That was with office 2007 anyway.

i use a dell restore cd for windows 7 professional, on a dell pc obviously, to install win7 from scratch.
I can do windows updates no problem.
I have microsoft office 2010 professional plus with a valid license key, these are provided by my IT dept.
Office installs fine, during the install i can go through the options and install excel, powerpoint, all shared tools, and so on. Once installed, it works fine. There is no service pack installed at this point.

From here if I go windows update, I never see anything for office.
From within office, Microsoft Word file menu help for example, it shows office is activated and if i click on check for updates there it then opens an IE window which says updates can be done from start menu - programs - windows update. If i do that, it's a normal windows operating system update and I get nothing for office.

I have manually downloaded from microsoft, Office 2010 SP1 and SP2, and have installed either one.
When i go to the help menu it then shows office 2010 SP # so the service pack seems to have installed no problem. But I still never see any upd... Read more

A:not showing office updates thru windows update for office 2010 win7

You mean what's called Microsoft Update. If you go in to the settings in Windows Update, do you have this checked:

I have Office 2013 Pro Plus, but the click-to-run version which updates itself and is not part of Windows Update. But I don't think there's a click-to-run version for 2010 Pro Plus so that is probably not the issue here.

Good Evening Everyone,

I have a few questions concerning the Installation of 2010 Office. I know that I have to uninstall Office 2007. I have no clue on how to save or where to save my documents from Office 2007. The documents consist of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and a few various folders. Should I from the Start Menue click on Documents select all and copy. Where should I place this copy? Can It be left on my hard drive? After I install Office 2010 can I then copy the "Document File" and place in Documents. Will all the files end up in the proper place for their programs, Word files go to Word, Excel goes to Excel so on and so forth. Thank you so much for all your help and cooperation. It is greatly appreciated. I hope I described my situation correctly. I look forward to hearing from you.

A:2010 Office Professional Plus to Replace 2007 Office Small Business

But you don't have to uninstall Office 2007 to upgrade to 2010. That's the general rule as you can generally upgrade from lower SKUs to higher SKUs (Small Business to Pro Plus). As far as saving your documents, you can really save them wherever you like on your hard drive or on any CD or flash drive if you wish to do so. As far as file types, after 2010 is installed, they should all register properly for their programs so that Word documents open in Word, Excel Documents in Excel, etc.

Though if you have all of you documents already saved within "Documents" or "My Documents" or some other folder you've set aside and you want to uninstall 2007 before upgrading to 2010, the documents themselves will be retained when you uninstall, you just won't be able to really do much with them until you install 2010.

Okay, I've never posted on anything like this before so bear with me please. I've got an issue and it's driving me nuts because I can't resolve it. I'll try and give a description of what I did. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I purchased a new Dell computer (Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) that came with a trial version of Office 2010. I had previously purchased an Office 2010 Pro so I wanted to install the full version on my computer. When I did, I had both versions installed, so I uninstalled the trial version. That's when I think my problem arose, but I can't say for sure that it didn't exist before that because I hadn't even looked.

Here's the problem:
When I'm in Windows Explorer looking at my files, my Excel and Word files (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx) show up with an improper file type description. Instead of saying "Microsoft Word Document" or "Microsoft Excel 1997-2003 Worksheet" (or whatever they're supposed to say) the simply say "DOCX File" or "XLS File". Not only that, but the icons don't look right either. They sort of look right, but they're smaller and sort of greyed out (Except the .docx icon is just a white page with lines object).

The strange thing is, is that ALL my other Office files show up with correct descriptions and icons etc. (.ppt, .pptx, .csv....etc - ALL of them!)

What I've tried to fix it:
I uninstalled all Office Products and then reinstalled Office 2010.

I tried MS's little bug finder pr... Read more

My MS Office files have generic icons, and when I open them, Windows asks me which program to use. Office 2010 isn't even on the list. A trial version of Office 2007 came with my laptop. I downloaded the Office 2010 beta, then uninstalled 2007. Since I uninstalled the old Office, all my Office files are no longer associated with Office, and there seems to be no way to remarry them. Office 2010 (beta) doesn't appear in the default programs control panel. The only way I can open those files is to open Word/Excel/etc, and File>Open. I feel like this should be simple. Any ideas?

A:Solved: Cannot associate Office 2010 (beta) with Office file types

Did you uninstall 2007 after you installed 2010?
If so you messed things up and you need to do a repair. Open Word, then the Office button, and then Word Options.
There on the Resources area, run diagnostics and do a repair.

I am running a copy of Office 2007 Ultimate that I got through an academic program. I need to install a key for Office 2010 on a new system. The cost for the key only is about $20 less than a 3 license traditional disk version, so I am considering upgrading every system.

However, I don't want to lose MS Access or MS Publisher to upgrade.

If I install Office 2010 Home & Student over Office 2007 Ultimate, will the extra programs from Office 2007 still be available to me? I know they will not be upgraded, but having a few different versions floating around doesn't bother me.

Any idea when Office 2013 will be available for download / upgrade?

Thanks!

A:Purchased Office 2010 w/ free upgrade to Office 2013

Hi there
it's in the Ms store already -- although IMO I'd stick to Office 2010 if I were you.
Anyway YMMV so here's the link (UK store) .

Microsoft Store United Kingdom Online Store - Office Suites

What you'd do to get the upgrade price I don't know but Office 2013 IS available for download. Try phoning / emailing -- actually a better option these days is to use a FAX believe it or not for this type of question. Emails tend to get lost as people have 100'000's to deal with, phone calls are diabolical --endless menu systems, loads of waiting and people on the other side of the planet who are incredibly difficult to understand.

The lowly fax machine when it chatters into life usually gets INSTANT attention these days . !!

I have Office 2010 Standard Open License Version installed on 7 XP Pro machines. We discovered, when trying to open a .tif file, that Document Imaging has been removed from Office 2010. I found and followed instructions in KB982760 from the MS web site. I got lots of parts of Office 2007, including Word, but still no Document Imaging. I tried going through Add/Remove Programs to add the feature; still no luck. Has anyone been successful getting Document Imaging from a previous version of Office to run under 2010?

If your computer is relatively new, it may have come with a trial install of Office 2010 - check the Start menu, and the Programs & Features listing.
You may also have installed Viewers for things like PowerPoint 2010, which still require updates.

It sounds like (drivers aside) there were some shared filed that may have been wiped that VMWare was using that belonged to Office 2010.
