ddr2 sdram frequencies?

Q: ddr2 sdram frequencies?

i'm curious what the different frequencies mean. does the higher frequency mean better performance, or what? Right now i have 2 gigs of 6400 in my comp but was looking to add more and wasn't sure if i should go with 8500 or just stick tot he 6400.

my mother board supports pc2-5300 pc2-6400 and pc2-8500

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is this considered value RAM? I bought 2gigs of it for $50, installed it and it is defaulting to DDR-667. Seemed like a steal at the time

From the newegg comments:

I feel as like I should clear up the confusion about this memory. This ram is programed to default to DDR2-667 at 1.8volts instead of the DDR2-800 at 2volts. This is because most motherboards default to 1.8v, and it would suck if you were trying to build a new computer and you couldn't boot because your memory only ran at 2v. That's why kingston made it so you can run it at 1.8v(although at a slower speed) and change it to 2v later. YOU NEED TO MANUALLY SET THE VOLTAGE TO 2VOLTS AND SPEED TO DDR2 800 @ 4-4-4-12 IN THE BIOS. If you don't do this then you are wasting good memory. If you don't believe me then read the data sheet here: http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KHX6400D2LLK2_2G.pdfClick to expand...

So that makes sense...

Also I think your 2nd link is the same as your first

The specs of my computer is in my signature. The freq. in which my ram is suppose to run is 1200Mhz. I'm trying to figure out how i can get it to actually run at that speed. When i go into the bios it allows me to either set it to auto or 400, 553, 667, 800, or 1066Mhz but nothing higher. When i set it to auto during startup it says DDR2 667 however when i set it to the 1066Mhz it says DDR2 400 during startup. How do i go about getting it to run faster?

My computer has got a 2gb chip in channel A and 1gb in channel B.
While booting a message was displayed like..
"You do not have equal memory installed in channel A and channel B. for maximum memory performance use equal memory in both channels"

The motherboard is an intel D945GCNL.the intel website says it can hold only upto 2gb.but my PC is running ok with 3gb.
so is the dual channel feature unavailable now? is my system running at a lower performance than it should be?

Hi,
After some probing about, I finally know the difference between ecc and non-ecc. My Dell GX280 sff pc spec states "non-ecc dual channel shared ddr2 sdram memory(400mhz)". After looking about on the internet I find that a lot of suppliers state pc4200 533mhz. Could someone please tell me what the 400mhz relates to and whether it would be better to put in 533mhz. Also any reccommendations of suppliers or manufacturers would be highly welcomed.

Hey,

As the title says, I have an nForce4 SLI Intel Edition motherboard that came installed on my Dell XPS 710 last year.

Recently I wanted to expand my RAM so I bought 2 expansion modules from Dell, I put them in and the computer wouldnt start up, the diagnostic lights said there was a memory failure. So I fiddled around and found out that one of the old Dell ram sticks was dead...or so I thought.

Anyhow, I decided to order some Geil 667mhz PC2--5300 DDR2 low latency RAM. I tried to install these and my computer throws out another error, this time it actually gets to trying to boot but doesn't do anything, and the diagnostic lights state an unknown error occurred. I then messed around and found out my old RAM stick worked after all, and I finally now have the old 2 Dell RAM sticks installed with the 2 new Dell RAM sticks (old ones are in slots 1 and 2, new ones in slots 3 and 4) and it seems to be working fine.

How can I get the Geil ones to work? I've tried installing them in slots 3 and 4 instead of the new Dell RAM sticks, but the computer just refuses to boot. There was a note with the Geil sticks saying about SPD, but I have no clue what that means. It says it uses safe-mode so it might not run as fast as it can to begin with, until you change some settings. Also says that for best performance it should run at 2.1v. My current RAM runs at 1.85v, but surely the Geil memory should still work at a lower voltage?

Also, I used CPU-Z to check my computer speeds... Read more

My Windows 8.1 laptop, fitted with an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN wireless adapter, suddenly stopped automatically connecting to my router a few months ago. I attempted to connect wirelessly to multiple other routers, all to no avail. My laptop could only connect through an ethernet cable/tethered hotspot. I then moved houses and got the internet set up on a new provider and suddenly my laptop could connect wirelessly again! Sadly, after trying to connect to my university's wi-fi, I found out that the laptop wasn't fixed, it was simply able to connect to my new 5Ghz internet but still had trouble connecting to 2.4Ghz access points.

I've tried everything I can to fix this as my laptop is too vital to my studies for me to be without it even for a short period of time, therefore sending it off for diagnostic and repairs is out of the question for now. So far I have tried:

Installing the latest Windows 8.1 drivers for the card (currently on v.15.14.0.2)
Replacing the wireless card with a new one (same make and model)
A complete, fresh re-installation of Windows 8.1

Running out of ideas on what to try and so turning to the community for help. Even if you're not sure of a fix, determining the problem itself would also be a big help. Thanks much in advance!

A:Laptop can't connect to 2.4Ghz frequencies, only 5Ghz frequencies

As the topic title suggests, my question:

Is DDR II SDRAM worth the price increase over DDR SDRAM?

The price difference isn't that drastic, but is the peformance increase that large, and is there any other issues with DDR II SDRAM which i should know about having never built a machine with DDR II in it. I've built countless machines with DDR but have no experience in the newer technology.

Many thanks

A:Is DDR II SDRAM worth the price increase over DDR SDRAM?

DDR and DDR2 are NOT compatible, they have different physical shapes as well.

DDR2 is overpriced and does not give THAT much of an increase.

The ABIT SM5 is an older board. I would be the problem is the chip you are using. Is it PC100 or PC133? The board will probably only work with PC66 or slower.

Hi,
I am looking into buying a Dell system. At the moment they are offering a free 1 gig upgrade (from 512). The default 512 is dual channel but the free upgrade (of 1 gig) is not. Is there a difference here? If the 512 is duel channel is it the same as having 1 gig of single channel?

Thanks

A:512MB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM at 400MHz (2x256M) vs 1024MB DDR SDRAM at 400MHz

I'm not 100% sure about this, and you should look at the manufacturers web site to double check. But, I think that the dual RAM can be used on a system that has a bus of 800MHz, whereas the 1GB module of RAM will only run on a bus of 400MHz.

So, to decide what chip to get look at your motherboards bus speed and see if it is an 800MHz bus or a 400MHz bus.

If it is an 800MHz bus then take the 512MB RAM module.

If your mainboards bus is 400MHz then you might as well have the 1GB module of RAM.

Four. You definitely notice a 100% difference in amount over 25% in memory speed - which isn't really noticeable anyway.

Also if I will go for 1Gb 667Mhz DDR2.. then ? Any problem..

Plz Suggest..

Thanx..............

A:can a 533MHz DDR2 RAM and 800 Mhz DDR2 RAM work together ?

If your motherboard is limited to 533 mhz then a 667mhz memory stick will be automatically underclocked to 533mhz, defeating the object of buying the faster ram. As for if 2 sticks of 512mb and 1gb work together side by side, I've never tried it but suspect it would work. If you get any problems, make sure you put the 1gb stick into the 1st memory slot (the slot your 512Mb stick is in at the moment) and put your old 512mb stick into the second slot. I remember reading that the CPU is happier running a bigger memory stick in the 1st slot. It may be an old wives talke, but its worth trying if you get problems.

Im throwing together a machine for my GF.. I have a processor but need to get a socket 478 mobo.. The one I was looking at uses DDR2-400 memory and I have some DDR2-800 memory sticks laying around..

Will it work ok to use the DDR2-800 sticks on a mobo that accepts DDR2-400 memory?

A:Ok to put DDR2-800 memory on a DDR2-400 mobo?

"Typically" you can run faster memory in a machine rated for slower memory - the memory simply runs ate the mobo spec. That said, memory issues are always subjective to the varying tolerances of the memory itself and the motherboard.

I just combined 333 and 266 rated memory in a laptop that's spec'd at 266 - it flies with no issues.

I think you'll have no problems.

Just make double-sure that all the other specs are identical such as voltage, both unbuffered, both unregistered, same latency/speed specs e.g. 2-5-5-5, hopefully both with or both without SPD (or maybe all memory come with an SPD these days?).

Try to run it with the memory, it won't cause any damage. If you start getting errors/crashes, you know it doesn't work.

A couple of months ago, I built a capable gaming rig (E8500, ATi HD4850, 4GB PC-6400 RAM on a Gigabyte EP35-DS3L with Vista x64), and set it up. It was my first time building a computer from scratch on my own, but I made it and recently overclocked my CPU.

I intended to overclock it to 3.6GHz, and it looked like that in the BIOS but using CPU-Z, it reported it at 6 x 380.0 MHz or 2280 MHz. It does change to the 3.6GHz at times in the program, but never in the output file. I'm assuming this is because of some energy saving thing? The mobo did come with an energy saving program, but I disabled it and stopped it from starting on boot, but I guess I may have not gotten rid of it properly.

CPU-Z also reports that my RAM is PC-5300 (333 MHz x 2), even though the RAM was sealed (at least, it looked like it). My CPU-Z output file is attached, if you want to take a look at it.

Is it possible to pick up radio frequencies and interference on computers? I opened my Windows Media Player today and heard, very quietly, a talk radio show and was flabbergasted. It has never, ever, ever happened before. I don't listen to internet radio so I don't know what it could be. Completely dumbfounded over here.

A:Radio frequencies?

Yes, it is possible. Computers are an FCC Class 15, sub-part B product, which means that while they may not cause interference in other products, they must accept any interference caused by something else. That's why your PC can pick up talk radio. You were either picking up a local radio station, or something nearby was radiating that signal.

That's it in layman's terms. You can look up the officialese in your owner's manual if you like.

When I run CPU-Z it says Max Bandwith for each stick is PC2-6400 (400mHz)
The timings are :

is the frequency correct? it seems slower, i mean my old pc-3200 memory was running at 400mHz CAS latency 2.5.

Just wondering what I would need to change in the BIOS, this mobo's got great OC'ing tools

Thanks for looking appreciate any help!

4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 3866(O.C.)/3733(O.C.)/3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C.)/3333(O.C.)/3300(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2400/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
* Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs.
* Refer to www.asus.com for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists

all except 2400 and 2133 are OC

Your processor
https://ark.intel.com/products/97128/Intel-Core-i7-7700-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_20-GHz
Memory Types DDR4-2133/2400, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.35V
supports those none OC at SPD - serial presence detect

So your ram although I do not know which exact model of Vengeance it is - as explained in your motherboard manual must when OC not only be configured alone for ram but as part of the sophisticated procedure on that motherboard - where if you wish you can simply use the 5 step automated process explained on your manual
Have you checked if your Corsair ram is on the QVL list from Asus
https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z270E-GAMING/HelpDesk_QVL/
That list cannot of course list all ram that will work with that board, but what is listed has been tested by Asus

This presumes the problem existed - not only on one or two games but across the board

Hi y'all,
I recently bought a bluetooth adapter for my speakers, so that I can play from my phone or PC without connecting cables. Works great, except that on the PC my bluetooth mouse conflicts with the speaker -- when I move, click or scroll the audio pops and cuts out. I'm guessing it's because they're on the same frequency, but I'm wondering if there's any way I can adjust that so that they don't conflict. Any help is appreciated!

Are you using the same BT adapter for both the speakers and mouse?

Hey peeps!

I just bought another 8gb stick of ram to go with my other 8gb. Whats installed in there right now is the Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz 8gb. The one i purchased is Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400mhz 8gb. My motherboard being a MSI Z170a sli pl. Will The 2400 mhz stick work with the 3200mhz? If so how would i go about installing it? Do i dual link it, or single? Go into bios set timings with the 3200mhz?voltage?
Or will putting in the Stick automatically adjust the to what it needs to be?

A:Installing Ram same brand different frequencies

It should work but both sticks will run at the lower speed of 2400MHz.

Are you in Poland ? (Looking online for your motherboard found only Polish websites).

I have this 13yr old monitor that's working perfectly fine, but I need to know it's vertical and horizontal frequencies.

Unfortunately I do not have any documentation for this monitor, nor is anything mentioned anywhere on it.

I've been using it on WinXP with a resolution of 1024.768 at (I think) 60.

Any help, pls.

If you were running a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and 60 Hz refresh rate, I believe that it is referred to as an XGA video format. The vertical frequency is 60 Hz and the horizontal frequency is about 48.36 KHz

After installing Win2k pro I had to change my 41.09 Win98, Nvidia drivers to Win2k drivers and found that there is no option to change my video cards clock and memory freqencies.

With the Win98 41.09 Drivers there was an option in advanced settings to change the frequencies. I am really annoyed because I found that the Nvidia detonator overclocking was more accurate than Riva Tuner.

A:Nvidia Drivers :Clock frequencies

You need to install the coolbits reg file to add the registry key to enable the clock frequency adjustment

you can get it here http://www.guru3d.com/files/ in the overclocking and tweak directory

What are the maximum frequencies that are available in core i7 processors now?

I ask this because I'm looking for a new desktop PC these days. I currently have an ancient core two duo Pentium D processor runninf at 3.4 GHz, surprisingly all the PCs I have found so far are either very close to this frequency or slower.

Good day Win7 Community,

This is my first post on here, as many users, I come here because I am having an issue.

I bought my new computer at friday.
I began installing my desired programs and games.
But as I progressed I found out something was going on with my sound.

I own a 5.1 surround sound speaker set so I'd like to use it, I believe I have stereo sound on it right now because I want my speakers to have sound all the time instead of having either music or voice-only.

On to the issue;

At first, I used my audio outputs of my motherboard, but that didn't really work well with my speaker set.
So I got my old 5.1 surround card (PCI) out and installed it into my new computer and plugged my speaker set, I could now use all 5 speakers.

I uninstalled the motherboard sound drivers and installed the sound card ones.
Fiddled with the settings the way I like it (sound volumes on each speaker)

I got it all working.. only, with youtube,WMP,VLC Mediaplyer, whatever produces sound.
When a high frequentie sound comes along, it gets scrambled which really ruins my fun of my new computer.

List of hardware/Software:

Motherboard: ASUS P8H67
Sound Card: Trust SC-5100 5.1 Surround Sound Card

Motherboard Sound Drivers: Realtek High Definition Audio Driver

Sound Card Driver: Trust 5.1 Soundcard 14319

Recap:
I uninstalled Realtek and installed the trust 5.1 sound card drivers.
I tried fiddling with WMP's settings etc. but no luck so far.

I hope someone can assist me in this struggle.

Hello,This is for the X1 Carbon 6th Gen.There are a number of threads this post refers to:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Yoga-3rd-gen-CPU-frequency-pegged-at-max/m...https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-6th-gen-Fan-Noise/m-p/4083801#M8590...https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-6th-Gen-fan-always-on/m-p/4083948#M... My understanding is that the CPU idle frequency settings are set in Windows registries while the fan settings are set in the BIOS. The issues discussed below are for the laptop on AC, not on battery. CPU issue-People reported that the CPU idles at around 4GHz no matter what tasks are performed on the laptop, leading to excessive heat. Lenovo provided a solution that lowers CPU idle frequencies to approximately 0.86GHz, 1.66GHz, 4GHz for Better Battery, Better Performance, Best Performance power modes (not power plan) respectively. They incorporated this solution in an executable patch found here: https://support.lenovo.com/sa/en/solutions/ht506625Reading the notes for the patch, I see under Operating Systems:Windows 10 1709 (version 16299)Windows 10 1803 (version 17134)And further down, under Additional Information:This issue is fixed in factory preloads based on Windows 10 1803 (version 17134) and later.  Only factory preloads based on Windows 10 1709 (version 16299) had this issue. If the symptoms are not noticed, then it is not necessary to apply the solut... Hi, ive had this laptop for a while now, and a few months ago the audio was working just fine when i was producing my music, i plugged in my microphone, guitar hitch, i even set up a new maschine micro mk2 and it all worked fine with low latency. I didnt change the latency and a few weeks after letting my computer sit, i came back and tried to go onto soundcloud, and the audio wasnt working right. The audio came out, but it was like the bass had been manualy turned off. I preveously owned a macbook so if you could please elaborate and explain how to fix the problem or what is happening, that would be greatly appreciated.

It has hardly been two weeks I've custom built my PC with newly manufactured parts and installed a cracked-activated version of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on one partition and then ,Windows 8.1 x64 on another partition.
Ever since the first few days , I've been encountering BSOD frequently in every Instance of usage, although the occurrence of them depends on the system load. When the system is in an Idle State, BSOD occurs in 15-45 mins of being idle ; When in moderate use, such as downloading space intensive contents or watching movies it takes 75-90 mins before BSOD happens ; when in heavy use, such as graphics intense gaming or rendering processes, the system runs for about 3-5 Hours before the BSOD occurs. I use Windows 7 x64 as the primary OS and 8.1 is for guest users. I've tried Memtests, HDD tests, Processor Tests, BIOS tests and all turned out positive with flying colors and also tried disconnecting all parts and reconnecting them again, yet BSOD is a common occurrence. The details of the BSOD is as :

I just bought Lenovo IP510IKB earlier this week, and I really like it, but I think something is wrong with the speakers, when I play music or any kind of audio there is some kind of distortion or vibration at certain frequencies, I don't know how to describe it, it's like there is something vibrating inside the laptop. I tried installing lenovo Harman drivers but the problem is still there, I also tried Windows generic drivers and other softwares like FxSound, but nothing helped, something that I also tried is muting the left speaker and the right speaker, at first I thought muting the left speaker fixed the problem but after a while I noticed the same distortion but not as much. I tried living with this annoying problem as it's not always there, but it really appear when listening to piano, but I can't live with it anymore it's driving me crazy and I can't find any related topics about this problem in the IP510IKB. I live in Egypt and I bought this laptop from souq.com (something like amazon.com) about a week ago, and I don't think I will be able to return it, is it even something that the warranty covers?

Can someone settle an arguement I'm having with my Nephew. He says that the default clock settings of my GeForce 3 card are too low. At the moment they are 175 Core Clock Frequency and 400 Memory Clock Frequency. We've looked at specifications for this card on the web and in the manual but both have not provided us with an answer. If someone could clear this up for us or provide me with a link that would tell me then I would really appreciate it.

Cheers.

Si

A:ASUS V8200 T2 Deluxe Default Clock Frequencies?

That's the correct clock rate for the card. Around page 4 of theis review you can see in the graphs the base clock and some overclocking benchmark results.

http://www.tweakers.com.au/articles/graphics/asusgf3ti200/page1.asp

here is a page that shows the standard clockrate.

http://www.hardavenue.com/reviews/Ti200roundup2.shtml

175/400 seems to be the standard clockrate on most GF3 TI200s. Do a Google search for "TI200 review" and you'll see. I think your nephew owes you lunch or something.
