Change icon font size only???

Q: Change icon font size only???

I'm trying to change the size of the font used for icons. But only for icons. Everytime I change it it also changes all other explorer font sizes including the start menu and explorer listings. Does anyone know to change only the icon font size?

Any help would be great. Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have successfully installed Anniversary Version on a Lenovo Laptop E525. Now need to change & enlarge the Icon Font, in order to use the screen. Best I can do is a solid white font of indeterminate size accompanied by a fuzzy shadow. Right now it is not useable, unless I use a Hand magnifying glass - which is absurd. There must be a way. Is there?

Windows 10.

I am having much fun grappling with my displays. I say grapple because I CANNOT see the text!

I have a laptop, with a display that has up to 2048x resolution and an external monitor that does 1920x. I have tried to keep both set the same resolution so the mouse will easily go back and fort.

If I bump one setting, others seem to change. Like after an update too!

I need a script, to set, then set again, and again, the
display settings,
the custom scaling level, and
the "change only text size".

Keeping the monitor placement geometry the same would be great for me too.

Oh for a cross reference on Outlook 2013 to the system setting. I keep manipulating the view settings there too.

Probably to get started I could use a "settings display" script.

Help, please

This was excellent with the RC version of win 7, I mean, it installed it all on its own, it was like it read my mind and knew that I was getting old and I was going to be happy with the font size.

Well, it all changed with the RYN version, I manually had to use the 125% dpi option, which worked well with the icon sizes but not so much with the font size withing the content window.

The size is awesome on this site but not so much on others and/or the software I use... see example.

I have also gone to the "Change Window Colors and Metrics" and sorted some other stuff but, I can't for the life of me, change the "Window Text" inside the "Active Window"... again, see image attached.

My problem is that at my 46 yrs of age, my eyesight is not that bad, hence the problem I am having. I mean, I can see 20/20 for most everything but, fine print within 1 is when all hell breaks loose and my computer is within 1 & 2 so its a toss up

Anyways, what else I can do?

A:Changing font size... not the icon

If changing the Display resolution isn't working (Control Panel - Appearance and Personalization - Display - Screen Resolution "Make text and other items larger or smaller") isn't doing it, Windows IE 8 has a tab in the lower right corner to jack up the resolution in the browser. For sites that have small text on parts of them, you can jump the resolution from 125% to 150, or better.

Here's another suggestion from Dwarf, in an earlier thread:

"Try this. Click Tools and Internet Options. On the General tab, under Appearance, click Accessibility. In the Formatting section, click to check (place a tick) the option Ignore font sizes specified on webpages and then click OK twice."

Here is my question; Is there a way to set up a different desktop icon/fonts size to match the TV and the laptop? (perhaps different profile settings???) Meaning, when I disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV, I want the size of the icons/fonts go back to default/small size icons and vice versa .

Hope this question makes sense.

I can't think of anything that exist within windows. It wasn't necessarily designed to be used on 40" LCD from 10' away in the way you are using it. That's why Windows Media Center's fonts are so much bigger.

Per this Topic here on 7F: dual monitor text is different sizes between screens you're out of luck.

The text font in the Chrome tabs along the top of the screen is too hard to read - as is the address bar and icons. I've set my graphics dpi to a setting which is fine for all other apps and don't want to change it. The Chrome default text size has no effect, Google has not acted on feedback and I can't find a solution by Googling the issue.

Is there a way of increasing the size of the tab text and icons? I'm surprised how poor the Chrome UI is given the cash Google has for development.

Good day.

I wish to know if there is a way to change the font size/style (bold, etc.) of the icon labels ONLY on the desktop screen.

I've tried the Control Panel method (Appearance & Personalization -> Display) that allows me to change the fonts for 'ICONS'. However, this option also changes the appearance of fonts in the directories/filenames, which is not what I want.

E.g. Labels on the desktop with size 12 and bold. Fonts in folders: size 9 and UNbolded (default style).

Anyone have a solution for this?

Here's my whole list of font size change settings, one of which might provide the answer for you. You've probably tried some of them, but see if there's something here that might change the font size on those icons, without changing the size of the icons themselves:

1. This is the one of the main setting tools for setting various locations of Windows font sizes. Right-click on the Desktop and go to Personalize, Window Color and Appearance. Click on Advanced, and in the drop-down menu, select the item that controls the location where you wish to change the font size. (Note: the last one, Window, does not have an option to control font size.)

2. DPI - Right click on Desktop, Personalize, On Personalization Page, go to left column to: Adjust Font size ? DPI, DPI Scaling: Click on Large scale (120 DPI), and click Apply.

3. Screen Resolution: Right-click on the Desktop, choose Screen Resolution, click on the down-arrow at the end of the Resolution box, and pick the desired resolution. Check OK.

4. Display: Right-click on the Desktop, select Personalize, then Display. From the 3 settings: Small, Medium, Large, if screen defaults to Medium (125% size for font and images) and that?s too large, use Small for 100% size (aka ?normal?)

5. At the lower right hand corner of every IE web page, there?s a Zoom control that lets you increase the size of every web page, and it stays at that Zoom setting for every page until/unless you change it.

Are you trying to make just the font size bigger or the windows and everything in general?

for everything in general try this..

DPI Display Size Settings - Change

Desktop -> Right Click -> Personalize -> Display -> Choose Medium or Large, then you'll be prompted to Log off, so log off and then log back on it should all be a bit bigger depending on which setting you chose.

I hope this has helped and please get back if this wasn't what you were looking for, maybe I can continue to help you if not im sure someone else can!

Hello all...this is my first post, I'm a computer novice...so please bear with me.

While using MS Word, I've accidentally hit a combination of keys (possibly CTRL, windows START, ALT and others were involved) and it has reduced the font size to something like a 2 or 3 point when it actually says in the tool bar it's still 12 point. This occurs whenever I open a new MS Word document or go to write a new email using MS Outlook or go to reply or forward an email, it minimises the signature too!!!

Now when I go to open up a previous email or previous Word document, the orginal font size is maintained. So really, it only occurs when writing new documents or email replies. I don't believe it's a zoom issue, because as I type this, the IE page looks normal.

I've tried rebooting my machine, no go, tried various key combinations e.g. Ctrl + Shift + P etc, etc...no joy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

I'm currently running on Windows XP with Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6.0.

At some point, my account's font size or style has been changed to a larger size, making some websites difficult to read or to load differently. I would like to change the size back to normal.

I have tried: changing font sizes through the above "view" and "text size" buttons, holding down "CTRL" and using my mouse to scroll through text sizes, changing text accessibility through the interent options, and STILL I'm getting nowhere.

I noticed that these above changes effected most text size, but did NOt effect hyperlink text size.

Let me give an example:
The first attached file is a screenshot, entitled "screenproblem," that shows a website with my problem. The second file is a screenshot, entitled "noproblemscreen," that shows how the website normally loads. I got this screenshot by logging into another account on the SAME computer that obviously does not have this format issue. As you can see, there are many differences in how the two accounts interpret the site-- my account formats the site with no background colors, hyperlinks are enlarged, etc.

How can I fix this? It's very aggrevating and I cannot think of how to do it!

Many thanks.

I can change a lot of things using the appearances tabs, but I can't change the Desktop Font Size.

The "normal" way to do this that Win7 provides is to change the DPI from 100% to 125, 150 or custom. HOWEVER, doing that causes some programs to not work correctly. For instance Titan Quest, and I've heard in comments on gaming forums that other games sometimes have the same problem. Changing DPI in Win7 causes the cursors to not work properly in many full-screen games and apps. Changing DPI back to 100% requires a reboot, which is a pain.

SO... Is there any way, some registry tweak, perhaps, that will allow me to change the desktop font to a larger size?

Right now, I'm having to resort to switching back and forth from 800x600 screen resolution when I can't read some things. On a widescreen monitor, that's a shameful waste of monitor space. It seems there should be an easier way to do this.

But when it actually comes to reading the texts on screen it starts to become a strain on the eyes. I would like to be able to max out my resolution, that way I feel like I have more room on the screen as compared to having a lower reso, but in the case that I do use the max reso all of the texts on screen (such as desktop icon names) become very small and hard to read. Now I know there is an option to make the font size bigger, but when I do mess around with that setting to make the font size bigger it just returns everything to a lower state of resolution. So any way to make the font size bigger without affecting the resolution? Thanks for any input on this!

Try botton right of the screen, above the clock on the status bar, click on the magnifcation (zoom level).

If you do not show status bar, go to view toolbars and status bar is checked.

Os Win7 home 32bit. Printing on a HP Photosmart B209. When I print a web page, lets say a printout, of my current checking account active. The font on the screen is around size 14 which is good enough for me to read. The font size on the printout (other then the header line) is around size 8 or smaller. How do I make the printed font bigger without coping the words on the web page to MS Word then printing the page from MS Word.

The way I do it is copy and paste to Note Pad and then set the font size and print.

Sometimes I send it to Jarte Plus and print from there.

A:help needed: change word font size

Select the text that you want to increase the font size of, then click in the
font size box (where it says 12, or 72, or whatever), type a font size number
(such as 144, or 250, or whatever), and press Enter.

See if you have FF set to allow pages to choose fonts.

Open Firefox> Tools> Options> Content> Fonts and Colors> Advanced> Uncheck Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above> OK

See if that helps. A Guy

I've looked and looked and cannot find a way to change default font and size in the mail app. Is there a way or registry hack or what???

A:Change default font size in Mail app

The default font size is Calibri 11. That cannot be changed.
The only change you can make is to manually change the font size on each email when you compose a message.
Sorry.

adding...................
In other more sophisticated email programs such as Windows Live Mail, you can set default font size as well as style.

Is there a way to change the font size in Windows Explorer?

Control-Scroll just changes the icon size it seems. It doesn't change the word size with it like in Internet Explorer.

Thanks.
