Clean installation of Windows 8.1 using ISO image from Dell support site question

Q: Clean installation of Windows 8.1 using ISO image from Dell support site question

Hi all, Ive followed the instructions given to me by Tech support and gone to the link listed under my Service Tag where there is the option to download my Windows 8.1 ISO image along with instructions which Ive printed off.
I will be installing from a USB flash drive and the instructions to create the bootable USB installation media are straight forward and easy to follow using Diskpart. Then simply Mount the image and copy all files over onto the USB flash drive.
Im a little confused though when reading the instructions under How to Reinstall Windows 8.1. there are two options PCs with BIOS boot mode and PCs with UEFI boot mode. I purchased my Inspiron laptop late 2015 so it has UEFI boot mode with Secure Boot. Under the UEFI boot instructions it talks about disabling Secure Boot and for USB installation media set Boot order to Internal ODD device. I don't understand..a USB flash drive isnt an Internal ODD device as far as im aware.
So without doing anything to System Setup Ive tried inserting a flash drive, tapping F12. It says UEFI boot mode and Secure Boot is enabled and the flash drive is listed second one down underneath my Toshiba hard disc. It seems to me that I have to follow the instructions for PCs with BIOS boot mode even though my system is UEFI boot mode!! Am I missing something here?

Preferred Solution: Clean installation of Windows 8.1 using ISO image from Dell support site question

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, (My PC was purchased in August 2015 Dell OEM with Windows 8.1 preinstalled). Ive seen the link listed under my Service Tag where there is the option to download a Windows 8.1 ISO recovery image. Ive also read that you can obtain the ISO from Microsoft. Is that ISO the same as the one  under my service tag on the Dell Support site? Which is the best one to get?
I will be installing from a USB flash drive and the instructions to create the bootable USB installation media on the Dell Support site are straight forward and easy to follow using Diskpart. Then simply Mount the image and copy all files over onto the USB flash drive. With this method am I going to have to mess around in the BIOS disabling Secure Boot etc when I insert the USB to reinstall or after tapping F12 will the USB stick be listed?  A technician took control of my PC a few months ago to do a clean install because my factory  image was corrupted. I don't know if he typed something else as well but he used Diskpart. I don't remember him disabling Secure Boot at all but Im not 100% sure what he typed in Diskpart.
Ive read a little about installing from the Windows 8.1 ISO. With UEFI boot mode I know the USB has to be formatted in FAT32 because NTFS wont work {the support site method abovedoes that).
Ive seen Windows Media Creation Tool..but Ive read that it uses NTFS so there are boot problems. Ive also seen people talking about using something call... Read more

Has anyone tried using the recovery disc available at dell support site? I was not able to create or clone my factory issue SSD and I used to reinstall windows using the recovery disc but only to find out that it does not come with the drivers. You have to manually download everything from drivers to application.
I notice there are two ISO available.
I tried the second one (for dell) but that does not have any drivers included. What is the difference between the two? i was hoping to get an recovery disc that included everything.

Hello

Im very fed up with Dell's service.

I have a Precision 5510 that came with Windows 7 and a 500GB NVMe SSD. Performance was horrible without installing anything so I called up tech support.  Tech support told the usual deal: That I had to reinstall the OS. The USB key that came with the laptop had Windows 10.

Yesterday I start downloading the image from Dell's support site at 0800. At 1500 it finished and when using Dell's OS Recovery tool it says it is corrupted. I tried from another location with another internet connection and same thing.
Obviously angered and frustrated at the time I lost, I called up my sales rep and he offered to send me a USB key with Windows 7 for 67 euros.

This is a laptop for business use that has cost the company not only 2000 euros but a lost of productivity because of losing time on downloading the image. Dell should send me the key without any charge because I still dont think reinstalling a factory image on a laptop that from factory came slow is going to resolve anything.

A:Tech support tells me to restore Windows 7 image, image cannot be downloaded and now Dell wants to charge me 67 euros for a USB key

there are 2 possible solutions i can offer:
1. you can buy a windows 7 sealed CD from an IT store and do an installation.
2. Or you can download windows 7 from piratebay and also download Windows to USB Tool from google so you can use a USB to boot the windows. Then use the activation key Dell gave you to activate the windows.
But make sure your data is backed up so you dont lose anything important.
hopefully this will help.

Hi,

I have 500 GB hard drive with 3 partitions. Windows 7 is installed on C: drive, 8.1 is installed on D: drive (dual boot) and all of my programs and files are on E: drive. I would like to uninstall Windows 8.1 and do a clean installation of Windows 7 without losing data from E: drive. Can I simply insert Windows 7 installation CD and format first 2 drives and do clean installation without losing data or do I have to format whole hard drive?

A:Windows 7 clean installation question

That is going to be a bit messy. I suggest to backup the User files from E (the programs cannot be used in a new installation) and start from scratch. Wipe the whole disk and install 7. Here is one way to do it.

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

When you are done with the installation, create a new E partition and recover the data from the backup.

hi I'm wondering about a clean installation of windows 10,heres my problem:

my mom accidently cracked my touch screen on by beats audio 15 special edition pc and now we have to send it back to at&t (we have the premier protection plan insurance) to get it fixed, however At&t lied about 2 things for our insurance from directv Assurion, that my mom had to add on to the package as it was the basic package even though they said it was an all included package
#1: accidental damage protection plan is not included, hence we had to purchase it as a separate add on.
#2Software is not covered under the insurance

so here's my question:

since software isn't covered, does that mean if they have to wipe the system to fix the screen and reinstall the original OS,can I do a clean install of windows 10 after going back to windows 8.1 and still use the oem recovery kit(contains the original drivers, programs, and windows 8.1 os) I bought for this particular computer to go back to 8.1 factory os condition should I absolutely have to, I understand that if I use the windows 10 installation media and do a custom install that I will have to delete the oem partitions, some people are saying that you cant use oem disks if u do a custom installation of another windows version like windows 10 to restore your computer to the original os because you've deleted the original recovery partition?

I've been troubleshooting this computer for some time now. At first, I disabled RAID because of the blue screens and I found that one was bad and the second of the RAID 1 appeared fine. Well, I installed XP to ensure it would work and that was extremely slow. My client didn't have a disc to XP MCE, but instead bought Windows 7. The installation took about 12 hours and the system is often unresponsive. On resource monitor, the 2.13Ghz Conroe CPU is barely tapped and the 2GB of RAM is barely at 30%. However, the system takes forever to boot and it very often stops responding for a period of time.

I did my research and found out that this model--original specs--can handle 7 better than this. I told the client it was probably an HDD error, as it seems to hang everytime the system must access the HDD. I can't even run the Index to find out what the systems rating is.

I memtested the RAM and chkdsk the HDDs before removing the first because of its clear faults in its inability to hold an OS installation. I recently installed the 2.5.3 BIOS update, but I haven't had a chance to install a newer version of Intel Matrix Manager.

Your thoughts?

A:Windows 7 clean installation on Dell XPS 410; slow, unresponsive

To update: The Blue Screens were not referenced further because I solved those issues. I went to get back on the system after work and I found out that the system was shut off. I booted it up and shortly after leaving the Dell screen, the computer went into: An unexpected I/O error has occurred. Error code: 0xc0e9" Given the previous, I'm left with the impression that the logical drive has failed. Seeing as I'm unable to know just how many times the computer was halted due to errors in the middle of read/writing, it should be safe to assume that this is the problem, but I'm in the middle of waiting for the client's HDD replacement. Once again, any thoughts?

Hi,
I purchased a Dell Laptop Inspiron 14R 5421 (Windows 8) in 2013. I used it for 4  years without any issue only until last month i had a problem of the laptop not starting (only DELL logo appearing). I ran the F12 diagnostics & it found a problem in Hard ware. I took it to a local service center (not authorised) in India & they formatted the hard drive. Post which, they installed a temporary windows 8 software & asked me NOT TO UPDATE. Now my laptop does not have the normal factory configuration & i have lost all dell diagnostics support & windows apps which were factory installed. I need to install a clean version of Windows 7 or 8. Can anyone guide me how to do this? I understand that the product key is encrypted by Dell in BIOS for all machines after 2012 or something.

After I restart a black screen appears and it takes a lot of time for windows to load the page where a user types his password to log in. After i type my password and desktop screen appears i have these problems :
1) a strange box of pixels appears on the screen and doesn't move ( something like the picture shows)
2) right click on desktop opens a menu that contains half of lines it has to
3) cannot open Catalyst Control Center
4) when clicking on Configure Switchable graphics it opens Intel HD graphics settings
here are some picture of what i'v got now:
I uninstalled AMD Catalyst Install Manager from Control Panel, then AMD Radeon HD 8730M from Device Manager, and tried to reinstall, but everything is like it was before.
What can I do about this ?
I do also have Dell Audio driver problems, and I posted about it too:

Does Dell offer a factory restore option with just the Dell drivers installed and no extras? HP offers this with their factory restore option. Hoping Dell offers it as well? If not. Doing a clean install of just Windows 10 seems a bit tricky? Dell lists a ton of drivers to install.

Finally. I bought a 16GB usb flash drive and made a backup of the factory recovery partition. I suppose it is now safe to remove and give me some extra space? The laptop was ordered with a 256GB ssd. Currently have 199GB of space left.

Hello Folks...........

My C: drive recently started giving me HD521-2W error when I ran "PC Doctor 5 for Windows" diagnostic multiple times in the past few weeks.

I created backup images of both the partitions on this 320 GB HD ( Active partition named "HP_Pavilion" and Primary partition named "HP_Recovery") onto an external USB drive using Macrium Free edition.

I later took PC to a PC repair shop and installed a new 320 GB WD hard drive. However, he DID NOT create 2 partitions as the old drive BUT he made this new drive bootable and downloaded all the necessary drivers.

My questions are :

# 1 ) Is there a tool or an utility I can use to download all the drivers CURRENTLY installed on the old hard drive onto a CD/DVD for later Clean Install of XP?

# 2) How can I make this new hard drive look exactly like the old drive - I mean, it must have 2 partitions using Macrium backups images I already created ?

I hope, I explained this situation to best of my knowldge and created least amount of confusion.

Thanks in advance for your help.

(Please pardon my redundancy - I have posted this to the Customer Care Board and Client Service forums - just hoping to correct what I hope was an accidental change in support policy.)
This is not a technical comment but it is a comment about Dell's Technology Support. Recently the support site for laptops, and I presume other areas though I have not checked, was revised to change its structure. In the process many items were removed notably having to do with drivers for older systems. Even if a system is past warranty that does not remove the responsibility for Dell to continue to provide the most recent (even if old) drivers especially since the cost of doing so is trivial. This is especially the case when Dell is the only source for specific drivers. A specific example is a Dell Vostro 3700 laptop which uses the embedded GPU in the CPU as well as outboard nVidia GPU; the hybrid video architecture is such that NVidia provides no driver and re-directs users to Dell's site. In the case of this specific model, most of the drivers that were present a month ago are now gone.
Dell laptops have two things going for them - good products at a good price and a great support site. This has prompted me to continue focusing upon Dell - e.g. two new 5759's in 2017, and to recommend Dell to colleagues and friends. I have had recent occasion to review some very old systems on HP's support site - all relevant drivers continue to be available. I strongly recommend that Dell c... Read more

Hi all, new member from the UK.
Due to a dying HDD I have bought a Crucial 512gig m100 ssd. I don't think I'll have any problems installing it physically and have picked up some tips on setting bios here on these boards. The only thing is I can't seem to find a thread describing what I want to accomplish. All I want to do is by using dells data safe utility to create a bootable USB of the factory image, replace the hard drive with the ssd and install the factory image.
I don't want to migrate or clone anything, just a reset to as I first bought the machine.
Will it be as simple as what I have just described or will there be problems using this method? I will make sure my copy of data safe is up to date before I create the factory image. A clean install is no longer possible for me as recently the digital river servers have been taken down and Microsoft won't supply my os as I only have a OEM coa.
Some hand holding I know but I have never had to replace a drive before.
Cheers

Hi, Sorry if Ive posted on the wrong forum but laptops looked like the closest option. Yesterday I clean installed the Dell factory image using reset PC.
All went well but when I checked Reliability History it showed an unsuccessful application reconfiguration warning for Dell Data Vault when Dell Support Assist was installed. During Dell Support Assist installation there was an earlier successful application installation and reconfiguration of Dell Data Vault (version 4.3.7.0) but that was successfully removed 15 minutes later for Dell Data Vault (version 4.3.8.0) ...this was when the unsuccessful application reconfiguration warning was flagged. At the same time  a successful application removal message for Dell data Vault (version 4.3.8.0). is also shown. Im not sure if that means now that I don't have Dell Data Vault installed.
Is this anything to be concerned about? Im not even sure what Dell Data Vault does. Is there anything I need to do or will it successfully update itself later on?

Hello, I bought the Dell XPS 9350 Intel core i5 model on Amazon less then a month ago and it worked perfectly until I started noticing a very annoying buzzing coming from the fan with little pressure on the internals. I contacted two different del support reps and they both suggested sending it to the Dell depot. I already shipped it and it is en route but my question is regarding their part replacement. In the notesI requested that they only use brand new parts in my system and not refurbished or used parts. I have a good amount of doubt that they will do that but I am wondering if there is a way I can tell if they put a refurb part in or not? And after reading the horror stories of the depot if my laptop continues to have issues what steps can I take to get a full refund or replacement? (Dell warranty is good for around a year still, Amazon return is not possible anymore)
Thanks

May i run into troubles when doing the "rollout" in the way i described above?

What troubles do you think about?

Fact is that if you need 20 Microsoft Windows 7 licenses if you want to use Windows 7 on 20 notebooks.

But you can still use one and the same image on all 20 notebooks if all notebooks are equipped with the same hardware parts.

Hi Everyone,
I looked through installation guides on here for the recommended installation order for drivers after a clean Windows 8 installation on an XPS8500 from Windows 8 disc. I also spoke to Tech Support but keep getting conflicting advice so I thought I would try posting here.
The question I have is regarding the Intel Chipset drivers. I know that they must be installed first before any other drivers. The confusion I have is regarding the Intel AMT HECI drivers (Intel Management Engine Interface) which are also listed as Chipset drivers.
Previous Support Technicians have always said that the Intel AMT HECI drivers installation order is not important so can be installed anytime. They always say Intel Chipset software must be done first though. I have read
driver order installation guides which shows HECI drivers way down on the installation order too.
The other day I was speaking to a guy over the phone on tech support who told me that you should install the Intel Chipset software, then the HECI drivers next!!
The reason I ask is I did a clean Windows 8 installation only last week. I installed the Intel Chipset software first and I have installed other drivers including Graphics and Wireless Network drivers. My HECI drivers were installed later. Will this cause me problems or will it be OK?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks very much in advance.

A:Driver Installation Order question after a clean install

The chipset drivers are always first as others have told you followed by the graphics drivers then the rest at your convenience or whatever is pressing.

Hello,
I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and everything seems file except one problem I am facing which is the wifi card connectivity issues. My connection to router drops very frequently, curently the generic driver which windows think is appropriate is installed. I wanted to undate that with Dell's driver which I can't find on driver download section. 64 bit WiFi driver is NOT there. 32 Bit driver is but that won't install on my machine.
Can someone from Dell help? either to give me the link for correct driver download or confirm driver is not available in which case I would need to downgrade to windwos 8 as the system is unusable in its current state.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 SE - Windows 10 64 Bit WiFi Driver not available on Dell Site

Hello,
On the Drivers & Download pages for the Inspiron 15R 7520 there are only 64-bit options for Windows, whether 8.0,8.1, or 10.   So those drivers are the ones for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, as long as you filter the operating system option to Windows 10 64-bit.
The file name may state "Win32" but if you click on the "View Details" link, and then check "Supported Operating Systems" near the bottom of the page you'll find that the driver supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You don't mention which wireless card you have in that system so I can't link directly to the specific driver.  Which card do you have and what error are you getting when trying to install the drvier?
I would also recommend updating the firmware on your router.  Many routers need an update to be able to handle Windows 10 specific drivers and cards reliably.   What router brand and model are you connecting to?  And do you have problems with all routers or just this one.
Lastly, here is a link to the Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center.  You will find a few support articles in there that may be of help to you.
Let me know which card you have and when the last time you updated your router and, if you can't get the connection to work, I'll see what else I can suggest to help you.

Didn't know how to title this issue...basically, here's the deal: I have a school web site, on [email protected], which has a maximum of 10mb on the site. This is a constant battle trying to keep it under the 10 mgs, with all the photos and whatnot I like to put up there. I was thinking that I still have another three or four sites on my account; why don't I set up one site which is just the images, and link it to the other site. Wouldn't it be transparent? I mean, if I set up a hyperlink on the main site, wouldn't visitors just cruise back and forth at will without any hassle? And that way, I'd have much more space for images.

Please advise...it seems too easy...am I missing something?

Thanks!

p.s. I use front page 2002 from office xp suite (professional )

A:thinking of setting up web site just for images to support another site

I don't think you're missing anything. This is common practice. Most of the images on this page came from another site. Ads almost always do. There's nothing that says that the image links in your html can't load images from elsewhere. The ability to bring many disparate objects from various sources together on one web page is the reason html was designed the way it was.

Sounds like you have a good solution to your problem.

Hi,

A while ago I've done a Win7 clean install following the instructions in:
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Under point 1) there is the link from which one can download the Win7 ISO file, put it on a DVD/USB medium, and perform a clean install. That way one can get rid of all the OEM's bloatware which sits on the HDD after having bought a new computer.

A few months ago the link in 1) took me to:
Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River ? My Digital Life
where I could download the SP1-U version.

However, currently the link under 1) takes me to a completely different site:
Dell Community
and that site doesn't offer the SP1-U version anymore!

Why was the download site changed in the link?

Regards, Johan

A:Windows 7 Clean Install Download site has changed! Why is that?

Not sure why the link was changed (The admins will have had reason) but the ISO's on that site are the updated ones anyway. If you check the x__-____ codes they match the U versions on MDL

Hi Everyone, I just did a clean install of Windows 10 on a Pavilion Elite m9400f, which I see is not supported for that OS in HP.com so my only problem is finding HP support programs. The one I can find is HP Support Assistant through HP.com but it recognizes My PC as a printer. Is there a way to find support programs and how do I correct HP Support Assistant? Thank You

We received a bunch of new computers (T570's, T470's, M710q's). They all have Windows 7 but we purchased Windows 10 Upgrades for them. The support site doesn't recognize any of their serial numbers. Does anyone know how to upgrade to Windows 10 quickly on these? I assume this is because their site needs to be updated to recognize the new Serial Numbers? It's killing us being unable to deploy these. Thanks,

Windows 10 will be offered free of charge to those who upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, but since a genuine product key is automatically upgraded to Windows 10 once you complete the transition, many wondered whether a clean install is possible or not.

Microsoft has confirmed today, through the voice of Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, that clean installs will be possible for those who upgrade to Windows 10 for free from any of the supported Windows versions, but no other details have been provided.

He has mentioned that you will be able to clean install Windows 10 on that PC at any given time for as many times as you want, so probably, your product key for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 can be used for re-activating Windows 10 automatically in case that happens.

hi

1. I going to do a clean install of Windows 7 32-bit in the next couple of hours. Can anyone tell me if Firefox supports the features of Windows 7 like the displaying thumb previews on the taskbar? And other features? I really don't want to use IE8!

2. I have some private files on my PC like my CV/Bank Card details, I want to put them somewhere safe and put a password on them, how do I do this without buying 3rd party software?

3. I have 2 partitions on my HDD, C and D. I will move my personal files to drive D. And do a clean install of Windows 7 on the C(currently Vista installed here) drive. Is this ok? Any issues I may experience?

Thanks,

Mani

I am trying to update our Windows 7 32bit image to work with the Optiplex 7040 (with a NVMe PCIE SSD). I am trying to inject the following patch using powershell and DISM. kb2990941 but i keep getting the following error.
?Warning: Add-WindowsPackage Failed. Error Code = 0x80004002?
Here is a link to the KB Article
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941
I also tried doing the injection from the actual PC that has the drive in it (while booted in windows 10 64bit)
Here is the command I used (from an elevated powershell prompt, after mounting the image).
Attatched is a screenshot of the error. (i accedentially tried to inject the 64bit driver the first time so ignore that).

Hey guys.
Pretty much what the title says - Dell's new, recently-released ControlVault driver (version A19) does not successfully install on a Dell Latitude E6330.  I followed the driver installation order from the "Dell Business Client Re-Image 'How-To' Guide" and installed the Dell ControlVault driver last.  It did not work.
Attached is a screenshot of what I got, and the Windows Installer log.

I have been running Windows 8 for about 3 weeks on my HP desktop. Unfortunely, I had to run a completely clean reinstallation of Win 8 two days ago. Apparenlt, this was not a good idea! Now the computer will not start but only display a failure code 0xc0000001. I simply don't know what to do.

As I installed Win 8 through a download, I don't have it on a DVD. I have tried to use your guide to make a DVD on my XP laptop, but this doesn't work as I am not given the opportunity to save it on media as you describe.

I would very much like to get some help!!!

A:Windows 8 clean installation

Your right. I just tested on XP and do not get that option and have removed it from the guide.

Do you have access to a Vista or 7 computer that you can generate the ISO on?

Hi everyone, i want to perform a clean installation of windows 10 CU on my notebook becuase recently it runs slowly: but i have some questions.First of all my notebook is a Notebook HP - 15-r117nl (K3F98EA#ABZ) that came with windows 8.1 and then update to win 10.Now i already know how to create a DVD support with an windows ISO image. The questions are:-Can i delete all the exsistent partitions? In "this PC" i can see only the system partition and the recovery D (oem partition) but in control panel i can see other three small partition (i can post a screen if useful). (About the D partition: i heard that with the upgrade to win 10 it becomes useless and the only way to get a factory reset is using recovery discs, is it correct?)-How about activation? Windows will be automatically activated once connected to Internet? (I'm using the notebook with a local account)-How about HP personalitazion? I think i have to download software and drivers from the hp website (like Hp support assistant and the other; how will i get back Dts control panel?). And how about OEM information? I mean HP logo on boot screen and manifacturer information in system information

A:Windows 10 CU clean installation

Hi: You can delete every partition and create one big one if you want. That's what I do. You are correct about the recovery partition being of no value after you clean install W10. Activation is automatic, once you are reconnected to the internet. What you do is when you get to the install screen where you are asked to enter a product key, you select the 'I don't have a product key' option. You will only be able to install the available drivers and software available on your notebook's support page. Some of the programs that originally came with your PC will not be available on the support page. The DTS control panel should be reinstalled by the audio driver.

Hi,
Recently, my laptop started to lag a lot so I decided to clean install it with windows XP. I put the disc in and press any key to boot it from the the cd drive, then it proceeds to a blue screen with lots of words at the bottom, then it shows a blue screen saying that "something if this is the first time please restart, (ive done this) and with codes such as 0x0000007b, 0x00000034c and more. I've read that there's something wrong about the hard drives but seeing as this is a laptop, I can't really open it up and diagnose it =S
Please help ~

Try and get back to the windows screen. There are things we can suggest to speed up the computer. How much ram is installed? What antivirus/malware programs are installed?

I replaced my laptop's hard disk drive and I am going to install windows xp sp3.

However, no driver CDs came with my laptop when I bought it. Will I need to install any drivers (for my laptop's devices like motherboard, graphics card, sound card)?

Or by just installing Win XP SP3 everything will work properly?

I have not done this before, so any help will be much appreciated.

A:Clean installation of windows xp sp3

Hi nikolasapl !

What's the brand and exact model of your laptop ?

If your laptop uses a sata controller chances are your hard drive won't be detected by a regular XP SP3 CD. Most drivers can be installed once you're within Windows but the sata controller driver may need to be slipstreamed on the XP CD first.

Laptops usually come with preinstalled software that allows to create a recovery DVD, if you still have the old drive I would reinstall it and create that DVD, the event 51 errors shouldn't prevent that, else you may be able to order it from the manufacturer.

hello im new here ...firstly my laptop acer aspire 4752zg is around 2 years old...
my first computer error was ofcourse caused by viruses.. but it was resolved (through reformat and install windows using RECOVERY CD)..but the fatal one was caused by a failed windows update ... this time i went to a repair shop)... ok here goes it was formatted with and installed with a CLEAN WINDOWS OS .... this time i got viruses again and failed windows update...i installed windows 7 again and i keep getting lots of errors..bsod..winload.exe...error 0.x45d..atapi.sys,,.corrupt files errors a series of failed windows 7 installation... i did some research and i need your help to expand on this steps or if its needed or not needed
1. dban
2. mbrwizard
3. biosupdate
4. windows 7 installation
thanks alot

A:windows clean installation help

No offence, but you get virusses allot...so I would not suggest you go into bios updates or near the bios. With the aspire you can do the safely recover, I believe its on boot screen press f5 or 8, depending on series. Then follow onscreen steps. This wil recover laptop back to working order.

However, if you formated, and installed a seperate os and deleted the safety partionion built in hdd on aspire format screen...well, you need to format again, rei stall windows on hdd, but seeing as you deleted the partion vefore, you need to do it again, or virusses will return when start up. So only if you allready once delted the partition do so again, delete all partions on hdd, and fresh install windows, after instalation install a antivirus! Avg, avast, norton are all good, also get malwarebytes, then install all other driver as needed
