I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My IE will not open website pages on Blogger. The message comes up:Internet Explorer cannot open Internet Site with the http: Operation Aborted.

I just had my laptop repaired. All of the other problems I was encountering are cleared up except this one. I have IE8 downloaded, Soft Pack 2 also.

I visited Microsoft for help. I did not understand how to repair the problem. I have a Gateway Laptop MT 6840 and Vista Home Premium.

Can someone please help me correct this problem in language that I understand and can use? Thanks!

I have tried most of the posts on the internet to fix this problem--this is under IE6--"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." The problem just suddenly appeared. I'm running a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with Win XP Home, Service Pack 3 installed, 1 gb ram and a 40 gb HDD. Had McAffee Internet Security Suite preinstalled but removed it via REVO Uninstaller and have only Windows firewall enabled and NO anti-virus. I did try downloading with Windows firewall disbaled and still no success. I can navigate to a site like Google Chrome download page but then when I click on the download button, the error message appears. Also can't download Microsoft or Windows updates from either site, although, again, I can get through the "checking" phase. I've run Malwarebytes, A-Squared, and IObit 360 and removed about 13 traces of malware ranging from low risk to high risk, defragged and cleaned the reg, all to no avail. I originally had IE7 installed, read about rolling back to IE6 and doing the typical repair sequences, again to no avail. Supposedly IE8 fixes this, but I can't download it, although I did try the stand-alone installer of 15 MB without checking the "get updates" box. It loaded and installed and shows up as IE8 but still had the same problems. Then did a system restore back to before the IE8 install, rolled back to IE6 again... Read more

Just started using IE8, and getting the nag on many pages (while I am already on that page) saying IE cannot open this internet site....and if hit the return arrow to go back a page , and then reclick to the new page, it works. Whats up with that ? Am I missing some file or is this just another glitch ?
Didn't happen with IE7, and may just go back to it.

A:internet explorer cannot open the internet site...

Did you try other sites ? That is a quick check to see if the problem is your browser. And it would need to be a site that uses similar setup. So if the page that doesn;'t display has lots of javascript, go to another one that has lots of javascript, etc.

On one of my sites, sometimes one particular page wouldn't display. I had to re-edit it, upload, it works fine now. So it may not be your browser. It could be that site.

Hi, perkinshershel, and welcome to the forums.
Have you performed any sort of autotuning disabling on your machine, or else 'tweaked' the TCP/IP settings?

FWIW, Vista doesn't do well with tweaked TCP/IP settings like XP does - it has an autotuning feature that dynamically changes the values for various settings n the TCP/IP stack as needed, thereby making the need for tweaked TCP/IP settings a thing of the past.

A:internet explorer cant open a site, aborts opertaion!

You may want to try checking and making sure your privacy and security settings aren't set too high. To do this, go to tools>internet options>privacy tab then make sure it isn't set any higher than medium, in fact you might want to drag the slider all the way down just to test it, then over to security and do the same thing. Then click on restricted sites, then the sites button and make sure it's not in the list. After you've done this, check to see if it works. If it still doesn't I'd recommend going back to the general tab and click delete under browsing history, then delete files, delete cookies, and delete history. After that, get back to internet options and click on the content tab, then click clear ssl state and restart internet explorer afterwards. If this doesn't work, post back again with exactly what version of internet explorer you're using and word for word what the error says.

Usually associated with both explorer 7 & 8. Does not occur on all pages, so the problem is intermitant

As of this morning, when going to many websites, including Microsoft, I get the annoying "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for more options..." yellow bar in Internet Explorer 8.

I haven't done anything special since yesterday, nor installed anything! If I click and accept the download, it downloads automatically to a temp folder but also a Microsoft FrontPage window opens at the same time, with gibberish.

When running IE8 without the Add-ons, I don't have the message. I've narrowed it down to the Adobe Flash Player. I had version 10.1.102.64 so I uninstalled it and installed version 10.2.152.14 Beta 2, the latest. No change!

HERE's an example.

Any of you having this problem today?
By the way, I have emptied IE8's cache.

Tried a System Restore to yesterday.

Ran malware scans.

Checked IE8 settings (they were untouched).

Disabled SpywareBlaster.

I'm puzzled!

Thank you
EDIT:

For an unknown reason, everything is back to normal!!!!!!! I haven't done ANYTHING!

One thing I hadn't thought of. I'm using Google Public DNS. Could they have been experiencing any trouble?

I'm not marking the thread as solved yet, just in case...

A:Solved: To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downl

Well, I'm marking this one solved. Everything seems back to normal.

I fail to see how disabling Flash was fixing it.

Most of the sites I was visiting didn't even have files to download! So, the warning seemed irrelevant.

Would have liked to have a "logical" explanation but I'll settle on blaming it on Google Public DNS...

EDIT:

Apparently, others have been experiencing a similar problem today:

Hi Guys,
I am running windows xp sp2 and recently discover that my internet explorer (v6.0) gives me a brief hour glass without doing anything when i click to open it....so i then tried a system restore to a time in which i knew it was working. Upon restart after restoreing to an earlier date, the internet explorer still does not open at all... and system restore now opens to a blank (white) page.
I have now discovered that the media player now loads (but doesnt work) with "Windows media player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled" when prompted to play.
I also found that internet explorer does still open whilst logged in under my wifes account, but not under mine. I also found that "user accounts" in the control panel is giving me a brief hour glass then no response.
I have included a hijack log for you to check out.... i have come to a halt as i feel i could lose much valuable info without some guidance from here on in...

Thanks heaps guys.

I have just reformated and reinstalled XP operating system with one administrator and two limited user accounts.
Every thing is working wonderfully except that in one of the limited user accounts Internet Explorer 8 will not open.

When you click on the icon it opens the "Open With" window and recommends using Internet Explorer.
When "OK" is selected it very briefly opens the browser window, flashes an option to save or run Internet Explorer 8 and then goes back to the desktop.

If I hit the pause button during this process and install IE8, upon completion of the installation it still opens the "Open With" window suggesting IE8 and the whole process starts again.

I can access the browser by opening a "favorite" link and then typing a different url.
I have deleted all temporary files, cookies, etc.

There is no problem whatsoever in the other limited account or the administator account.

Any suggestions?

Hi. I just got rid of a virus thing yesterday by using Malware bytes. When i restarted my computer, it wouldn't turn it. I think it deleted an important file? But anyways, We used the cd and got my computer to start up. All it did was replace some of my file so i could get it to start correctly. It was going fine but when i tryed using my Internet Explorer, It won't work! I click it and the little hourglass comes up for a split second, then nothing. It never comes up. I'm lucky because my firefox is working right. I'm using Windows XP Professional. Oh. And that marlware thing changed my ip address so it was all 000? Also another reson we had to use the cd. I hope i gave enough info for someone to help me.

Thanks~

Howdy.

So Flash doesnt work with Internet Explorer 8 32-bit, yet. I have windows 7 64-bit, and have IE8 32-bit and IE8 64-bit. I use 64-bit browser by default. ATM, when i come across a video in facebook, i have to then open facebook in the 32-bit browser, scroll to vid, then watch.

Is there a way to put a command in the context menu to open a link in IE8 32-bit? This way when i come across any link that i know will require Flash, i can just right click and choose to open in 32-bit browser.

Thanks, Nathan

A:[SOLVED] Open link in Internet Explorer 32-bit?

Flash is compatible with IE8 x86 (32-bit); not IE8 x64.

You should be using IE8 x86 (32-bit) only, because of Flash.

Go to \Program File (x86)\Internet Explorer - locate iexplore.exe, right-click on it and make some shortcuts, pin it to TaskBar, Start Menu, etc...

I installed IE-8 and had compatibility problems, so I uninstalled it. Now, IE 7 fails to open. It opens the page and shows it on screen for about 2 seconds or so and then shuts down. I reloaded a new version from MS and still have same problem. Went thru suggested repairs from MS and still can't fix it. System restore is no help. Am using firefox. Problem is, Windows auto updates only works with IE, so that is effectively turned off. Have run registry cleaner, antivirus (AVG) is up-to-date. I'm reasonably sure it is my system, not IE per se. I'm on a DELL inspiron notebook running XP w/service pack 3 installed.
Any ideas?

Hi, I have reformatted my pc and reinstalled Win Me. I have set up my usual isp using a dial up modem. Internet explorer just does not want to work. The dial up connection works fine but then I receive the 'this page is unavailable' all the time, whatever url I put in. The screen appears straight away as though IE hasn't looked for it.The modem is working fine and I have tried disabling Zone Alarm, all to no effect. I am sure it's something fundamental that is stopping the pc and IE talking to each other but I don't know what. I went into windows setup via add/remove programs and highlighted communications and made sure everything was ticked, but still no change.

Any help gratefully received.

In IE7, when I search for a subject, my response page has ?sponsored? listings on the top and along the right side of the page. If I select one of these ?sponsored? listings, I get ?Internet explorer cannot open the webpage?. This has been happening for some time and spans several versions of IE and several browsers. (I currently use IE and Firefox) I guess some people pay good money for ad blockers, but sometimes I would like to see the ?sponsored? listings. Any help would be GREATLY

It consists of the IE URL and a search engine. The link in the URL is to some MSN page. Before the page completes loading it will just disappear and I am left with only my desk top.

Hi, I have IE version6.0. Running in a dell 1.3 ghz. I use No-Charge free Internet. IE use to open up automatically when my dialer connected to the Internet. I messed with the settings and changed it so I have to double click IE on the desktop when I have connected. How do I change it back so IE automatically opens? Thanks...Dan

A:How to make Internet Explorer open up automatically when dialer connects to Internet?

I'm not sure if this looks the same in IE6, but in Internet Options > Connection > Settings, is the Dialup Networking connection you are using the one selected there? When you launch IE, the dialup adapter should run.

I have Windows ME and IE 6.0. I am receiving the error message: Internet Explorer was unable to open this site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. Every time I try to download something or open a document online. I am also having problems with any flash based website. I searched on the internet for what this could be and found that it is usually related to a no-cache header but when I followed the hotfix that Microsoft lays out for this by changing the registry editor it did not fix the problem so I'm not sure if that is what it is or not. I have noticed that no new files are being added to my Temporary Internet Files but cookies are being added. I do not know how to look at what my header setting is to find out. As a little background to what led up to this problem, our computer was running extremely slow. I did a virus check and found nothing, a spyware check and found nothing, so I decided to defragment the drive since it had not been done in over two years and I was under the impression that it could only help things. Ever since I fixed the errors on the drive using scandisk and defragmented the drive we have had this problem. I do not know if that is just a coincidence or not. I did not change any settings, etc. prior to this happening. Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Monica
