Stuttering Problem in All Games & Online Videos

Q: Stuttering Problem in All Games & Online Videos

Need Help
My old laptop has been having a stuttering problem with games for a couple of years now. It?ll stutter for around five seconds, run smooth for around ten seconds, stutter again for five, run smooth for ten. It?ll keep doing that until I stop playing and close the game. It doesn?t start doing the stutter the second I start the game, it?ll start maybe around five minutes into the game and not quit its pattern. It doesn?t matter what game, how old it is, it does this to all.

It also does this while watching online videos. I can?t watch anything on, for example, Hulu, or Gametrailers, without it doing the same stutter pattern.

I didn?t always have this annoyance. It started little over a year after I bought my laptop. During all this time, while putting up with the problem, I?ve done several clean installs. I?ve tried to solve this myself, but never could find anyone with the same exact problem.

I?ve uploaded several videos that show the stutter problem:
MrTatakichi's Channel - YouTube

Also, here's my hardware & processes:

Any help will definitely be appreciated, thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Well, 761 MHz processor speed is way too slow for any modern games. You can check go to Start/Run and type chkdsk C: /R and press enter. The command prompt box appears, press Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will check the integrity of the drive. You can also click on the PC Running Slow? link in my signature and try those things. Other then that, you need a faster computer.

After my computer did its usual updates, I've noticed a sound issue whenever I've been trying to play games/watch videos. At regular intervals the audio will freeze/skip for a second and make a loud grinding noise, then resume. This happens with music, streaming videos, games, pretty much everything. If I'm watching a video or playing a game, the screen will freeze for a second, then resume.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron N4110 laptop with Windows 7

I assume I need to install a new driver or something, but I am pretty computer illiterate and don't exactly know what I need/where I need to get it from/how to figure out what I need.

Was hoping someone could help here.

A:Audio buzzing/stuttering during videos/games

Since the screen will "freeze", suggests the sound problems are just a result of whatever is causing the PC to hang up and not directly a sound problem. Thus another forum section would be more applicable than the sound section.

You can run the Resplendence Latency Mon program and that may help, if you can figure it out as it gives you "information overload".

Hi Everyone! please help!
Every time I turn my computer on (after it was completely off) again which I do a lot as this laptop is so fast to turn off and on, the video streaming does not work.
So after I turn on I go to the bbc, Facebook, youtube, or other streaming sites the video loads and I can click play though it does not actually play, just a still image. same on every website. so to fix this I have to restart the computer, then it works. So for some reason turning the computer off causes this and restarting it fixes it - seems strange to me though more irritating
Second issue is that again online streaming videos stutter all websites all browsers (chrome internet explorer etc.). I have fixed this though by setting Nvidia to be used for the browsers instead of intel. Though this solution uses more power and might be related to the other problem.
This problem has been here since I got the laptop in December 2015, have updated to all the latest drivers bios, applications etc. What else can I do ???

Any help with the videos not playing would be greatly appreciated it is so annoying to turn on the computer go to websites then find you can't play the videos, then remembering you have to restart.

A:Dell XPS 15 9550 Videos online do not play after computer is turned off, also video stuttering

How are you shutting it down? If you use the standard "Start Menu" > "Power" > "Shutdown", it does not completely shut it down. It saves part of memory in a hibernation file which allows it to quickly restart. This could cause issues when you start up again. If you have not tried this, set up a desktop shortcut (right-click on an empty spot on the desktop, select "New" > "Shortcut" and enter "shutdown /s /t 0" in the box (that's "shutdown" + space + forward slash+"s" + space + forward slash+"t" + space + "0" [the number zero]) without the quotes. Click "Next" and give the shortcut a name, then "OK". This will shut the computer down completely.
The other option is to disable "Fast Startup". That should accomplish the same thing. See if either of these help.

Been researching this problem (stuttering or chugging lag) for last few days. Unfortuneately I can find nothing conclusive solution wise and am a complete newb when it comes to PC tech stuff. I know enough to get around on my PCs (have 2) and install and play games etc. But when it comes to techincal stuff I am lost. So I finally broke down and decided to try some posting....

Have 2 PCs, older one runs my usual games fine, no apparent lag or problems. Newer one (bit over a year old) seems to have had lag problems ever since I bought it. At first I just assumed the lag was zone lag on the game I was playing (Everquest - online mmorgp) possibly because I was running three instances of the game (multiboxing) and perhaps just didnt have enough ram, but as time went by I noticed that:
1) the lag stutters and chugs
2) is somewhat intermittant - appears and vanishes at seemingly random times for no apparent reason/s (usually the lag issue isn't as bad at night - or if I stay in a certain zone for long periods of time, frequent zoning seems to make it worse - neither of these appear to be very consistant)
3) seems to affect any online games I use on 2nd PC (and thus far that is all I use it for)
4) is present even while one instance of a game is running

While it doesn't actually stop me from what i'm doing it is very annoying, and i'm very tired of having to deal with it.

Sorry about the title, I don't know what to say.

When playing any game or watching any video (on hard drive, dvd or streaming) or playing any game (2d simple, 3d intensive) my computer gets lag spikes and stutters, the sound kind of freezes every time it pauses.

My PC has never had this problem before, it started a couple of days ago.

My graphics card drivers are up to date and I have no idea what to do.

Thanks.

I am at a loss to what the cause of this is.

I will will be playing team fortress 2 and for about half an hour the game is fine then all of a sudden it starts stuttering madly every time it has to access the HD. It will not cease once it has started and the game becomes unplayable.

Also if I am playing streaming videos online the video will pause while the audio continues and then jump to the correct point again after a few seconds. This will happen a cpl times every minute.

Also when typing in boxes like this the words will freeze for a few seconds before spewing out in a big chunk. Also when scrolling a webpage the same thing happens. I will scroll and it locks up then I keep scrolling and the computer beep noise sounds from the mobo then it unclogs again.

I have now tried reinstallling windows several different times with two different windows versions and also on two different hard drives and still no change.

I didn't have this problem before but I had to reinstall windows cos it was screwing up for other reasons. Now that is fixed (fingers crossed) this thing has cropped up.

I require some new input as I've tried all the variables I can think of at the moment.

Another problem which is stopping me from trying the graphics card is that I tried updating the drivers but when I pick the new drivers they lockup youtube videos and cause a reset. I've tried it with several different versions of catalyst and each time the same problem .

Hi there, I am new here, I have searched the net for an answer to my problem but have been unsuccessful so have decided to post here...

My computer starts stuttering (audio and video) for about 20 seconds every 2-3minutes when I play microsoft flight simulator 2004 which is highly frustrating. It runs fine on 24frames/sec (which I have locked it at) then it goes to 1-3frames for about 20seconds then returns and is fine for 2-3mins. This is a recent problem, I run it on a reasonably capable laptop, it worked perfectly fine for 9months, and it has been like this for the past few weeks.

I've opened the task manager during the stuttering fit and the CPU was running at 98%-100% then after dropped to around 30%.

Specs: Laptop, AMD Turion x2 2.2Ghz, ATI Radeon HD3200, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD

Hope that is comprehensive enough info, I'm not great with computers, but I can't think it is a hardware problem as it worked fine for a good 9months.

Thank you all in advance

For the record I now how a legit copy of Windows XP which I've just done a fresh install and updated up to SP3.

I will be playing team fortress 2 and suddenly get several second stutters like the HD is chugging or something. It specifically happens when there is some action on the screen.

It also happens when I am watching steaming video. The video will stop for a couple of seconds while the audio continues and when the vid starts again it jumps to meet the audio.

Also when I am scrolling down with the mouse it will get jammed for a second or two then jump down.

Another thing I just noticed while writing this is when I type that too will jam for several seconds then jump.

What's going on here?

Like I say fresh install and it didn't happen before on my previous install. My drivers are all updated (all the common ones).

Hello,

Occassionally, like once every three days, whenever I try to play an online video like from Youtube or essentially any video that is from the internet, it will freeze and stop playing after about 2-3 seconds of play. I've let the video load all the way through and still no luck. This also happens with online games sometimes. After about 5 seconds of loading up, on any browser, Mozilla or IE, it will freeze, just as the videos do. Strangely, though, after a reboot the videos and games work again. I wouldn't be complaining if this only happened once, maybe twice, but like I said, it happens occassionally. I'm pretty sure I have all the updated Shockwave and Flash player downloads, but maybe not. Any ideas on what might be the problem? Thanks very much.

Hello there.

Basically i've been troubled with BSODs since month, pretty much since i've got this PC i haven't experianced any problems, however, after month and a bit i've started getting bluescreens pretty much too offten.
Today i got it 3 times in a row when i tried to watch single episode of naruto :P - equals 3 BSOD in 20 mins, so there we go im posting here hoping for a bit of help.

I'm running
Win 7 ultimate x64, box version. Reinstalled it like 3 times by now on this machine, 1st installation was pretty much out of BSODs at all, however i got some problems after clearing the other pc off this one so i basically reinstalled it around month and a half ago, quite a bit after i've started getting BSODs so i just reinstalled it again, results are pretty much the same.

Over the time, i've been using tools like daemon tools for virtual drives, few antivirs, including Kaspersky trial one. Point is - i've been reading throught tons of forums so far and first thing i've started checking after i got those BSODs were drivers.

I've got rid of DT since windows driver compability verify counted this one as incompatibie.

I've also uninstalled kaspersky once to try out new ver [got like 2 BSODs of kaspersky itself aswell].

I've been running memtest for round 3 hours, got no memory errors,
occt test caused bluescreen error today after like 15 mins, however i've got no idea wth is log of this program, i've just run stress test for RAM/CPU up there.

A:BSOD playing online videos/games.

I've menaged to get attachement up here, posting it down.

One more thing - so far i've been running second OCCT test and it seems it also crashed around 15 minute of test, althought there was no bluescreen, just test error. Thing is most common BSOD is system_service_exception one, i could assume it's driver thing however win driv ver. seems to don't see any of this problems + im running verifier right now the built-in. Seems ok so far.

I have also mentioned that i've reinstalled win like 3rd time now since i got this pc so i can assume it's quite fresh install, however filled with MOBO drivers and Clone for alternative to DT.

I've been having this problem for months now and can not figure out what is causing it. Every couple of weeks my pc would bsod almost instantly every time I watch a video on YouTube and this can happen for days or weeks, then the problem will go away for a few weeks and suddenly come back again. I have tried so many different fixes but the problem always seems to come back. 2 weeks ago I did a complete wipe and reinstall of windows 7 and guess what, 2 days ago it started to bsod again just like it did before. Can someone please help me?

Edit: Okay, now it is crashing just from browsing Google :/

I noticed it first in the flight simulator when I would zoom when looking out the canopy and I would see distant enemy fighters and then I would get BSOD just as i saw them. Then Flying my RC simulator I get BCOD very quick. Now it seems when watching a TV show online and clicking on a video of something funny or interesting it will get BSOD. To me it seems as if anytime the computer is working hard on something visual it shuts down for the BSOD. These bugchecks indicate a Machine Check Exception has occurred which means the hardware has signified (via a standard messaging interface) through the processor driver that an correctable hardware error has occurred ,the system then bugchecks on purpose, the result is a 0x124 error.

It looks like a very strong indication of a bad CPU, given that all your dump files show this:

Code:
Error : DCACHEL1_DRD_ERR (Proc 0 Bank 0)
Status : 0xb400200069000135
Address : 0x0000000032c10c00

A level 1 cache data read error on the primary processor of the first memory bank, this is a consistent error within your bugchecks, this is bad, especially on the first processor.

I recommend running Prime95 to find out.

Stress test your CPU with Prime95

I recommend running Prime95 for around 2 hours

   Warning

As with most stress tests your component's temperature will rapidly increase.
It is advised that you download a temperature monitoring program like HWmonitor
Keep an eye on your temperatures and stop the tests if it starts to overheat

Try taking out the CMOS battery on the motherboard then placing it back in to ensure no improper settings have been made.

Hey dudes.

got a small tech problem and hoping you guys know what the problem is. ever since I built my computer last year I've noticed a lot of my games stutter when my character is moving. I've noticed this in Sleeping Dogs and Path of Exile most notably, but other games like The Witcher 2 and Chivalry: Medieval Warfare as well. the screen seems to stutter for a millisecond every 2 or so seconds, or sometimes every second. occasionally it'll just stop completely (as in it won't stutter at all). my FPS is staying a constant 60 though. no dips in FPS at all. it's like the game jumps or something.

anyone have a clue what it is? it's a minor visual complaint, but it's pretty irritating.

also my specs:

8GB RAM
2GB 6950
i5 2500k factory settings

EDIT: okay so I've noticed this issue does not happen in windowed mode. I'm trying to go fullscreen on my 2nd monitor to see if it's monitor related, but having a little trouble.

EDIT 2: tried recording in Fraps to show people. seems to completely or almost fix the stuttering while recording so I'm guessing it's not my monitor

here's the video showing off a little bit of it. the beginning is where it's mostly at and the big stutter at 0:14~ is just an FPS drop, but the rest is the stuttering issue I'm getting

The mouse stutters only when i move it very slowly on the mousepad, if i move it fastlyit seems to work smoothly with no stutter, however it's very annoyning andmakes those few games completely unplayable, because it's hard to shot enemies.

Have you tried clearing your temporary files folder whilst Firefox is open?

You could try deleting these files with Disk Cleanup - Delete Temporary Files with Disk Cleanup

*Mozilla firefox 3.0.1*

However any online video from any website at any time never run smoothly...I actually couldn't identify the reason !! I installed different things like:

*Adobe flash player Activex*
*Adobe shock player 11*
*Adobe flash player plugin*
*Java 7*

However the problem is unresolved and I am really disappointed! My PC system is as follows:

*Windows XP Professional 2002*
*Intel pentium III processor*
*601 MHz*
*320 MB of RAM*

My internet provider is Sky and speed is 2mb per second !!

So please tell me the problem if you can...1 more thing to say that I checked the minimum system requirements on Youtube and mine one was fine but still.......

Thanks in advance!!

Hi. . .

You don't mention the A/V you are running, but if it includes a firewall - get rid of it. Restore the Windows firewall to default settings and also do the same with IE6 - restore to default settings via Internet options.

I believe your biggest issue is your installed RAM - you should upgrade to at least 512mb or even 768mb. I would recommend 1gb.

I have tried using Firefox and Google Chrome to play online videos, but neither work. However, Youtube will load. I believe the problem is Microsoft Silverlight, which I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox as well as Chrome.

The below video is an example. I can load it in Safari (which has no problems loading videos whatsoever), but cannot load it in FF or Chrome. However, if I click "format" on the bottom right of the video, and change it to HTML5 or Flash, the video will play. If I let it choose the best format to play, which is Microsoft Silver Light, it will load to 100% and then go black, with the bottom buffer bar displaying 00:00 and not loading the video.

This link is an example of what it will not play:

Ever since I did a fresh install of Windows 7 (RTM 7600.16385 build), I've been having certain issues with online videos.

Up until installing Windows 7, I was a huge Firefox fan, but a couple of months ago, I decided to give Google Chrome a try, and I'm just loving every minute of it, well except for one single, very annoying, issue/bug. There are times that, for me to watch an online video (say youtube.com, mlb.com, you name it, any flash-based video), I have to wait for the whole video to be fully loaded, to be able to watch it. Let's say I want to watch a youtube.com video, once I click the link, all I see is the black screen with the buffering logo in the middle, up until the video is fully loaded. Now this didn't happen to me with Vista + Firefox.

Is this a Windows 7 problem? or a Google Chrome problem? What should I do?

Please Help.

Specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 BE @ Stock
ASUS M3A78-EM (780G chipset)
Corsair XMS2 4GB DDR2 800 Mhz @ stock.
Radeon HD 3200 (780G's onboard GPU), using Catalyst 9.5
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Google Chrome latest official build
Using Adobe Flash Player's latest build
Using Windows 7's stock drivers for everything except for Video Card, not sure if I need to install the Chipset driver. Should I?

Thanks In advanced.

A:Problem watching online videos with Google Chrome

Does it due the same thing with 7 + Firefox?
If not, it is a Chrome problem.
If so, try actually find the chipset drivers. Vista drivers should work ok.

Hello guys. I have had this problem about 3 weeks ago, but now it's doing it again. The problem is when I stream an online movie in FULLSCREEN, it will play for like 1 hour and then my screen suddenly goes all black and my windows theme turns to light blue. I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get back to my desktop. However, I see that my CPU usage is at 100% when this problem occurs and when I try to open any window, my computer will make like a squeeking/buzzing noise. I'm not sure if this is an Flash Player problem or something. My video card was recently upgraded over a month ago and I can play video games just fine. It only happens when I try to stream movies online. I haven't seen this problem happening with Youtube yet, but maybe because videos only average around 3 minutes.

The only way I can fix this problem is by restarting my computer, then everything works fine again. Watching a movie without the fullscreen seems to work though.
Thank you!

Every-once-in-a-while I attempt to play a video embedded in a website. It starts to play OK, but then, after a few seconds, it stops for a few seconds, then start again, etc., all through the video.

What seems to be causing it and is there anything I can do about it?

Hi guys,

I'm a new member here and require help. I've put my specs up in profile so hopefully you should be able to see that.

I'll explain the sort of problems I've been getting recently. I used to get BSOD randomly about a month or so ago. Someone told me to do memory test and hard drive check, which I did. My pc was working fine for sometime after that, not sure if it was because of those tests. Anyway, so recently now when I watch video online within about 10-15 minutes computer freezes, screen freezes and I get weird noise from speakers. I suppose the noise might just be because everything froze. Funny thing is computer only crashes when I watch videos from one website. If I watch from youtube or somewhere else it doesn't, neither from any media player, vlc or other. That's one issue.

Second similar issue when I play online game (Cross fire), same thing happens. Within about 10-15 minutes it freezes, the weird noises don't come all the time though after it freezes.

Third problem, once the pc crashes and I shut it down directly, then I turn it back on, it turns on but doesn't respond, doesnt start windows or the screens that come before, monitor also doesn't turn on so just doesnt boot up the system. Sometimes it makes some kind of noise (not all the time), can't describe it really. After some time though when I turn it on it starts up normally.

I've tried to search and try to solve the problem but couldn't really understand what is causing the crashes. I looked int... Read more

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem when playing online games on this laptop. The laptop does run well using other applications such as MS Word etc.

When I start playing any online game, it runs brilliantly without any stopping etc. After about 10 minutes, it starts jumping and not responding etc to my commands. Why is this happening? Can I prevent it?

Many thanks.

A:Problem playing online games

Your laptop isn't designed for gaming. Do you experience overheating issues a few minutes after running a certain game/application? If yes, you can use a can containing compressed air to clean the fans and see if that helps.

And also, which games are you playing on that laptop?

Hi,
i just moved to australia, and now i'm using ADSL2+ connection.
i got a problem connecting to online games, at first i thought it's a problem from the game server it self, but turns out my friends can play them normaly, so after a couple of days struggling i still can't connect to it.
here's what i've tried:
1.disable windows firewall
2.disable router firewall
3.forwarding ports
4.enabling DMZ
but turns out if i enable the DMZ, i lost my connection to the internet,
even the ISP customer service didn't know what's going on, they said if i enable the DMZ i should've been able to play any games because enabling it is the same as opening all ports.. but turns out i lost my entire connection.. so i need to disable it again in order to ask you guys..

here's one of the games ports
Port 8444 TCP,UDP
and Port 8001-8010 TCP,UDP

anyone got anysolutions for me?...
thanks before guys..
