I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm installing 5728 on a freshly formatted HD, and after choosing the partition, I'm informed that "Windows setup could not reinitialize the deployment engine", and the setup won't go any further.I've already installed 5728 from the same media to the same HD, but as an upgrade to 5600, so I know it works. I wanted to try a fresh install, as several of my programs were acting a bit odd.Has anyone else had this problem?

Hello,

I have an issue where someone has gained server access / control over my system. I am unable to regain control or even clean install my operating system from OEM windows 10 CD. Currently, when i attempt to re-install what I end up with is a Windows Deployment Service installation. Is there a way to force the installation from CD?

Thanks,

Robert

A:"clean install" is actually Windows Deployment Service - Help

I would normally do a clean install by booting from the DVD. (Preferably, I'd copy the DVD to a bootable USB drive. Installs much more quickly from that.)

Can you boot from the DVD?

How was it that "someone has gained server access / control over my system"? Something seems more than a little odd here.

I have a Windows 2003 Server that has WDS SP1 installed.  The Windows Deployment Services Server Service isn't started and when I try to start it I get a message that says: Windows could not start the Widows Deployment Services Server on Local Computer.  For more information, review the System Event Log.  If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to server-specific error code 2310. Event viewer lists Event ID 257 and this: An error occurred while trying to start the Windows Deployment Services server.  Error Information: 0x906   When I go to the actual WDS application, my server isn't listed.  If I try and add it, I get a message that says "The Windows Deployment Services configuration is corrupt.  Would you like to add it anyway?" If I say yes, the server is added, but it has a red x through it. I thought about removing WDS and then re-installing it, but it listed a number of programs that might fail if I did that. What should I do?

I'm attempting to use the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 to deploy Windows 7.  When I attempt to update the deployment share, I get the following message: "Unable to mount the WIM, so the update process cannot continue."Not surprisingly the boot folders do not have the proper files created for the Win PE (which is the goal of updating the deployment share).

A:Unable to update deployment share for Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010

Pulled this from the help docsFailure to Update WIM Files
In a ?simple? environment:
·         For Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008, MDT 2010 locates WIMGAPI.DLL in C:\Program Files\Windows Imaging, which should be in the system PATH. The WIMGAPI.DLL should not reside in C:\Windows\system32: It will be present in the C:\Program Files\Windows AIK directory tree, but MDT 2010 rarely uses it from that location.
·         For Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, MDT 2010 typically picks up WIMGAPI.DLL from C:\Windows\system32 (always in the path). The version of this WIMGAPI.DLL must match the version (build) of the operating system.
·         On a 64-bit operating system, MDT 2010 always uses the x64 WIMGAPI.DLL file; only that file should be in the system PATH. On a 32-bit operating system, MDT 2010 always uses the x86 WIMGAPI.DLL file; only that file should be in the system PATH. (Other products, such as System Center Configuration Manager, use the 32-bit version of WIMGAPI.DLL, even on a 64-bit operating system, but they manage and install that version.)
Problem: When attempting to update a deployment share, the user will be informed that the mounting of one or more .wim files did not succeed.
Possible Solution: Open a Command Prompt window and run where WIMGAPI.DLL. For the first entry in the list (the first location found by searching the path), ensure that the Version property matches the build of th... Read more

Hi admin , Im Gerald from the phil's

I got this annoying problem. please help me to fix this "INSERT REMOVABLE MEDIA ERROR"
BTW, here's another picture ..

PLEASE HELP me . thanks in advance god blessyou sir

A:"INSERT REMOVABLE MEDIA ERROR"

Hello Gerald, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Unfortunately, turning off the "Windows Backup" message is only to stop the message to remind you about setting up or creating a backup. It's not going to stop this error message.

What is the full message when you click on the "INSERT REMOVABLE MEDIA ERROR" link from the notification area?

If this is for Windows Backup, then you'll need to either turn off the automatic backup schedule and create one manually when you have you removable media connected, or leave the removable media connected.

Hope this helps for now,
Shawn

I'm trying to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit but i can't get the installer to load.
I have access to a Xubuntu install and a OS X install.
The original hard drive Windows 7 was installed on stopped working completely. So, I've bought a brand new one.
I followed the steps I did the first time I installed Windows 7 - converting the iso to and img with OS X's hdiutil and the dd command to burn it to a USB.
This time I would just get a "please insert proper boot media" error.
I went to my Xubuntu computer (it's used like a chromebook - i'm not a big linux guy) and tried WinUSB.
These USB keys lead to a screen that had a flashing underscore a few spaces from the top of the screen.
It dawned on me that the first thing I did when I installed windows the first time was update the bios. So I tried flashing a few different BIOS versions, but none of them made a difference>
I really need help - I can't think of anything else to try
Thank you very much!
TL;DR
Cannot boot into Win7 installer. OS X made USB keys show "insert proper boot media" - Ubuntu made keys show "flashing underscore" - Tried 3 different BIOS versions. Win7 -has- worked here before...

Hello,
We have an MDT 2013 SP1 deployment sequence set up for Windows 7 and a range of various laptop models. The issue I am about to describe seems to happen randomly on various models.
The task sequence gets all the way to the first autologin step and just stays on the desktop not doing anything. At this point the final tasks are executed and the summary screen appears, but nothing happens.
I am not able to open anything as i am prompted by a "Windows Security" dialog saying:
These files can't be opened: Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened.
This message appears if i try to run any executable. None of the usual MDT logs are there and I cannot figure out what is stopping the sequence from completing. I have found some references to Windows Defender online but not much info on this problem out
there.

A:*RESOLVED* Media Center "Tuner Not Found" error, "Receiver service has stopped"

Okay, I resolved the first two issues, Tuner error and ehrecvr error. It had to do with multiple Admin user accounts on my computer. My computer was originally set up with a user Robert Baker with full privileges as administrator. I then also set up a MediaCenter account with full privilidges. For whatever reason the MediaCenter account has access to EVERY action on the computer except starting the ehrecvr service.1.  First set Media Center Service Launcher to log on at NT Authority    Services > Right-Click Windows Media Center Service Launcher > Properties > Log On tab > Log On As 'This account: ' > Type " NT AUTHORITY/LocalService " > Click Apply > General tab > Start service.2. I then set the Media Center Scheduler Service AND Media Center Receiver Service to log on as my other admin account. Same as above but with other account credentials and started the services.3. Reboot and no ehrecvr errors. Since this was a good sign I tried WMC and was able to set up my TV fine.I STILL, however, get the "Upgrade in progress" message when I open Media Center. Anyone know how to fix that? I've run setup again and can't get rid of it.

I'm getting ready to deploy several hundred XP systems to users that will be receiving periodic updates for their business software via cd...

what is the real risk of assigning their local user IDs admin rights to the system?

As long as they don't have domain admin rights, and their systems have internet explorer rights assigned, we have system auditing enabled, we run remote inventory software, autoupdating has been disabled to save bandwidth (we centrally manage our hotfix deployments), our proxy servers limit the web sites they can visit to a very small authorized list, what would the risk be?

As I can logon to the actual administrator for any NT/ 2000/ XP system anywhere (and so can any hacker) is the idea of a user with admin rights to their local system really that risky?

I just want to get some opinions from others who have experience with large scale deployments.

A:Expert advice needed: XP deployment

Allowing the average users free range to install and remove hardware and software become a maintenance nightmare and a security risk. XP and Local Policy was designed to stop the madness. But for trained and certified IT professionals the risk is much lower. I would however create a corporate policy that states they are responsible for their own PC. And if they mess it up they will have to re-image the PC to restore it.

I recently did a whole new build, new hard drive, mobo (GA-P35-DS3L/S3L) and processor. The problem is, I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate and I come up with "Insert system disk and press enter" error when I try to boot from the disk. I checked the BIOS and the mobo had recognized the DVD drive and the hard drive. I tried putting the hard drive under slave and the DVD drive under master, and vice-versa. I am a high school student who generally gets lots of home work, so it would be nice to be able to type out my work. I am also a gamer, and my friend and I are trying to get my computer fixed, and it's really frustrating. I would like to get this fixed as soon as possible

"Disk boot failure insert system disc" every time i get up

I have done a format c and installed windows xp again. My pc worked just fine a whole day long and i could restart the pc without problems. The next morning i want to boot my pc and i get the message "System boot failure please insert system disk" I couldn't get it fixed so i reinstalled my pc again. I worked with my pc the whole day without any problem i went to bed. The next day i had the same problem as the day before "System boot failure insert system disk". Now my question is how it comes that i cane resart and boot my pc a whole day long and if it is turned off for 8 hours that i get the message "system boot error..." anyone a suggestion?

A:"Disk boot error insert system disc" every time i get up

That could be caused by 1 of several problems.

First (and most likely), it could be a flat bios battery. Does your system loose the date and time too? If so, fit a new bios battery.

Check all your boot options in your bios to see if any of those are the cause.

If you have any spares, try a different data cable.

Scan disk your hard drive as it could be a drive error.

If none of this helps, let me know and i will do my best to help further. Rik

When I go to open a program I've recently installed, half way through loading I'll get an error message reading:

The drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive A: and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed." Cancel, Try Again, and Continue, to which I press continue to.

Then I get "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1" with Cancel, Try Again, and Continue, to which I press Continue to and another appears but with \Harddisk2\DR2 and so on. After pressing continue to 1 2 3 and 4, the program continues to load fine.

After doing some google searching I see suggestions about renaming the troublesome drive something other than C (apparently this error happens when 2 drives are called C) but there is no drives involved? its just a program, so theres nothing to change, does anyone have any ideas as to why these errors appear? :S

Many Thanks

Basically my CD drive suddenly decided not to recognise blank lists so I can't write files to CD. I tend to use itunes but it doesn't work in WMP either.
The message displayed is "Please insert a blank disc"
I am using a Sony Vaio VGN-NS20M / Windows Vista Home Premium
The disc drive is MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ880AS

So far I have tried uninstalling and rebooting, checking for updates, doing a system restore to before the problem started... none of this has worked and it's driving me mad!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

When you installed the OCZ drive, it sound like you had the 80gb HD connected. So the boot up files got written to the 80 gb HD. Do you have a Win7 install DVD ? If so run startup repair 3 times in a row with the 80gb disconnected.

Welcome to Sevenforums

Start first with refitting HDD data cable and power cable connection to rule out any physical connection problem first.
When start, check with the BIOS, see if the HDD is there.

I recently bought Age of Empires - Collectors Edition. I installed the game without encountering any problems. I started up the game but whenever I try to play singleplayer, a message pops up on my screen; "Please insert the Age of Empires II - The Conquerors disc to play single-player", even though I have the disc in. I can play multiplayer just fine, I only encounter this when I play singleplayer.

Would it be possible that, because the disc I have is the collectors edition version, it doesn't recognize it as the correct disc to play singleplayer?

I have Windows 7. I've already tried running the game as administrator and in compatibility mode with previous versions of windows. Are there any other solutions?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

I have a card reader for use on a USB Port. I have been using Windows 7 Starter since July 2010. I used the card reader successfully in November 2011. Now all of a sudden I am getting this error: Please insert disk in drive F:" when I try to open the card reader. It is shown in "My computer" as removeable disk. When I check properties it shows the name "USB Card Reader". It also shows "0" space used and "0" space available.

I changed the designature letter from F: to Q, as adviced on some fora on the internet. This did not help. I have tried unstalling of the USB port and did whatever II could think of.

I checked the card reader on a Windows XP machine, and it is fine there. I can read the card reader with the camera.

The USB ports are also working fine. No problem in using pendrive or any other USB device.

I am using an antivirus named "F-Secure". This is provided by my ISP.

Still I want to use a card reader. Is there any remedy?-RDSharma

Ahhh! This problem is driving me nuttts!!!
I have two DVD burners in my computer. I seem to be caught in an endless frustrating cycle. Here's what happpens:
So, when both drives are working perfectly, and both have a disk in them, if I eject the tray on one of the drives, and put in another disk, all of a sudden the drive doesn't seem to respond like it should. It gives the "Insert a Disk" message, even though there is a disk in the drive. It won't recognize the disk, can't open autoplay, and can't explore.
This happens to whichever drive I eject and put in another disc. The other drive will work perfectly. EXCEPT if you eject and replace the disc a number of times, then it too will stop working.
This is not caused by hardware failure, as the drives can be restored to perfect working order again by rebooting . After restarting computer they will work perfectly until I eject one of the drives and put in a new disk.
Here's what I've tried:
1. Deleting uppper and lower registry (the lower returns with a value of "AnyDVD" upon inserting a disk)
2. Uninstalling/reinstalling DVD drives.
3. Upgrading firmware on both drives.
4. Updating software of AnyDVD
5. Every Microsoft Fix-It imaginable
Does anybody have any ideas? I've never had to bring my computer into a shop, but I'm thinking about it. That's how desparate I am.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This can happen if your flash drive tries to use a drive letter which is already assigned to another drive.

1) Insert your removable disk into the USB port.

2) Click Start, right click on Computer, then click on Manage.

3) Now, click Disk Management.

4) Right click on your removable drive partition and select Change Drive Letter and Paths under Disk Management

5)Change the drive letter to something like X: or Z: which is not reserved by some other drive on windows.

Meh, only thing I can suggest is has the disk been formatted with FAT/FAT32? Perhaps your phone has formatted the disk with a type of format that windows can't read, but I doubt it. You could try other disks to see if it's a fault with the slot or shell card you are using

Hi, I've encountered this error upon restarting my computer because when I accessed it this morning the screen was frozen on my screensaver and I couldn't get out of it.

I've tried using my recovery disc to use Startup Repair but my partition seems to be missing and when i use bootsect to look at my disk volumes it is also missing in there. When I try to restore my computer using a Windows 7 install DVD it only shows my "Backup" partition. I've also tried reordering the boot order in the BIOS.

A:"Reboot and Select boot device or insert boot media"

It would appear that your hard drive is having problems. First of all, do you have a current backup of anything important on the drive?

I'm having a problem after the deployment of a Windows 7 client (LTI). I captured a custom image, but after I deploy it to a client pc, i get an MMC error when I try to open Computer management (MMC console detected an error in the snap-in and it will be
removed - I translated this). It does so twice and after that the mangement console opens without the event viewer and the scheduled tasks snap-ins. The same thing happens if I start the MMC console or either of these two snap-ins from the command prompt.
I have tried to build and cpture a fresh image several times, always the same thing. Another thing is, with the last image, I left it stand for some time before I captured it and so the grace period expired, i didn't do any rearm. I thought that sysprep resets
the grace period, but this isn't the case, I get a black desktop after deployment. Is there a way to work around this?
Windows version is Windows 7 Professional x86, with the following software:
- Oracle Dev 1.6 and 6i, with patches 9 and 17
- Lotus Notes 8.5.1
- NetOp Remote Host 9.50
- F-Secure Client Security 9.01
- Cute PDF
- Alternatiff viewer
All of the above is installed before the capture.
These are installed during deployment:
- Microsoft Office 2010
- JRE
- Flash player
- Shockwave
- Acrobat reader
Before the capture everything works fine.
Thank you for any help.
Edit: I'm using Deployment Workbench and I edit the answer file with System Image Manager.

Im getting this error when copying from Vista to a shared folder on XP client, further more the XP clients system resources are actually flooded and needs to be restarted before it can regain the system resources. Incredibly annoying.
Events: ->Ctrl+C (~700Mb batch or single file) in vista -> Ctrl+V in shared folder on XP = Error in vista and a depleated XP client
I have also had about 200 jpeg images self-destruct in this matter, suddenly after a Vista 2 XP transfer they just wouldn't open and had bad and missing header issues. (Relation to 0x800705AD not confirmed)

Quick fix, added November 29, 2007

Error 0x800705AD "insufficient quota to complete the requested service" has been identified to be caused by Computer Associates A/V, EZ Armor and 2007 Suite software not being compatible in network environment where both Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Vista XP reside. File transfer in this environment may cause Error 0x800705AD "insufficient quota to complete the requested service" and result in loss of data.

This conclusion is based upon an exhausting battery of test executed by several individuals whom has actively participated this thread, especially Tom (thank you).

Solution: (At time of writing November 29, 2007) Uninstall Computer Associates A/V, EZ Armor or 2007 Suite.

This is not a permanent solution to this problem and hopefully such solution can be found in the near future b... Read more

Hello!

I was running WD diagnostic tool on my Black Caviar 2TB and after just a few seconds of Quick Test I got this message "Quick test on drive 1 did not complete!" in window pop-out. Here is the full message:

After that I tested my HD with HD Tune Pro and these are the results:

Reading Test

Error Scan (still in progress...)

Error Scan (performed back in March 2014)

Helath Info

As you can see there is 1 bad sector which is still there after reinstalling my Windows 7. Could this be my problem? I read on various forums that 1 bad sector for large hard drives is nothing? I do not know if this is true? Is my Black Caviar dieing?

My PC with Intel 2500k is very slow and performs really bad. Every time I try to open internet browser, or any other program my PC takes time to open an application and my HD has that "grinding" sound like it is searching for the files, very similar to Anti Virus scan sound. It is very annoying thing which last over 6 months, or even more. When I open folder full of pictures my pictures also are loaded slowly. You can clearly see on the screen they are loaded 10 by 10 while scrolling.

Today, while I was in "Safe Mode" loading essential drivers which you can see on the black screen after booting goes very slow too. From my previous experience Windows usually loads them very fast.

I tried to reinstall my Windows in a hope I will get better performance, but still my ... Read more

Hey there,

Status Code = 07 in WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic means the drive fails to read part of the drive and it is likely to soon fail or it already started failing. Once a bad sector appears on a drive, it is highly likely that more would appear (the head would bounce off the physically damaged part and land on a different spot on the platter further damaging it and creating more bad sectors). You could try running chkdsk /r to try locating and isolating any bad sectors it finds, but this would only give you some time for backing up your data. I would advise you to replace that drive. Since it is from the WD Black series, it is likely that it is still under warranty (they usually come with 5 year limited warranty). I would check that and go for RMA.

I wouldn't imagine the slow performance would be only because of the drive. I would do a run-in test to check the CPU, RAM and GPU to make sure they are all OK.

Hope this helps,

Captain_WD.

Hi,

On Windows 10 lately I've gotten this message(or something close to verbatim) with the pink screen every time I boot after waiting a few minutes while it claims to be updating. Not only this, but it has to reboot to boot up WITHOUT the updates that for no apparent reason it can't complete. Please let me know what I can do about this. Windows takes 3+ minutes to really complete the booting process, and this makes it take more like ten. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Here's some basic info; let me know if you need more about my system:

CPU: AMD 8350FX
GPU: Radeon R9 270X

-netbook restarts when lead to safe mode
-not sure if accidentally pressed hibernate

what can be done?? please help!

A:HELP! error message:"memory resources exist to complete the API" seen before welcome

Add any RAM recently? This issue generally has something to do with hibernation mode with systems that have more than 1GB of memory, however this seems unrelated. I would say that your OS is cooked possibly, if it was bad RAM or power supply or mobo it would have more symptons so it is definetly software related in my opinion, my suggestion would be to get the data you need off with a live CD, then install a freash copy of windows.

So, I installed The Sims Complete Collection, but I decided that I really wouldn't use it as much as I thought, so I decided to uninstall it. After doing so, little error messages pop up every 2-10 seconds on my computer, one after another, and if I leave my computer to go to the bathroom or something, there will be a whole slew of them, one on top of another that I have to exit. They say: "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\wmrutrim.dll" and under that, "Access is denied." To the left of the words is s red circle with a white x in the center and on my taskbar the window is labeled "RUNDLL".

I did some research and found that some file was probably deleted when I uninstalled the game, but I looked on a bunch of "dll" file download sites and couldn't find my error.

Some sites also said to reinstall the program that caused the problem, but the Sims Complete Collection is 4 disks and takes hours to install. I also don't want it on my computer.

I also tried restoring my computer with the system restore disk that came with it, but it didn't restore, even though I have done it before and followed the procedure outlined on the disk exactly.

The message comes up so often that I cannot do anything else without being constantly interrupted (i.e. while typing this at least 15 have popped up already and I have to constantly exit them and come back to this).

Please help! I tried to use the Sims help forum but something went wrong and ... Read more

Hello, to you new Windows Vista and XPS users...
When you run "Install" The Sims Complete Collection, install it, then play the game, use it for a while... save it and bam! "An error has been encountered". Don't get worked up, look up the game's system configuration requirements, see if your computer is working correctly, check to see if background tasks are running (background tasks will coinsedentially harm your game while playing it), log in to TheSims.EA.com and EA Tech Help, or just reinstall it.
Still having trouble... reboot your computer up, try the game again, erase computer memory (Windows Diagnostics Tool <CD Key may need required to do so>), and/or just use Windows XP/XPS only. Windows(TM) Vista cannot play certain CD games for your information so you know.

Hi Everyone! I thought I had a pretty secure machine but I have learned otherwise.

As instructed, I am trying to start the process of asking for help here on malwaretips.com, but FARBAR keeps giving me the error "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1"

I hit Cancel, Try Again, or Continue and nothing closes. The error message just pops up again.

I have not rebooted yet, bc I was hoping to leave things intact for now. Short of rebooting, does anyone have any suggestions? There are no USB drives attached.

A:Cannot get FARBAR to complete. Error "There is no disk in the drive..."

Well, I shut down the Event Viewer and the error window went away, and FARBAR completed running.

Strange but glad I can continue!

Hi guys,

I have been trying to clean install windows 10 home 32 bit on my Acer one S1003 laptop (which came with pre installed win 10 home) since two days. The installation keeps giving me the "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation." error.

The laptop is a two in one computer with 2GB ram and 32GB flash storage and has only UEFI firmware. The usb drive I use to install windows has GPT partition scheme which I made with Rufus.

And I tried firing up a cmd and launching OOBE but that only leads to a loading screen which loads forever. Then I disabled secure boot and that didnt work either. Finally I tried to flash the bios but couldn't do it as there was no any UEFI compatible DOS version.

What's going on here? how can I install windows on this machine??

thanks.

When a download is complete, the dialog box opens, announcing "Download Complete" and when I Click the "Open Folder" button the "Download Complete" dialog box closes but the Target Folder doesn’t not open. First noticed this after SP3 in this XP Home environment.

Where’s the “Honor the 'Open Folder' button” setting to get this functionality back?

My computer recently crashed; I didn't pay attention to the first message because, like most people, I'm constantly getting an error message of some type so I didn't pay much attention to this one - until the screen requested the installation CD to be run. When I did that, setup began, running through the initial processes until the "installing windows" segment - when I received the following message:

Fatal Error: An error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing. Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should contain more information. Press OK to view the setup log file.

Pressing OK, I read:

Fatal Error: One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. The operation was cancelled by the user.
Fatal Error: (same as immediately above)

The error and fatal error messages then return to the initial two messages listed above - repeated several times.

Pressing OK restarts the system and the process happens all over again. I do have a valid copy of WinNT which was preinsta... Read more
