My comp is randomly crashing

Q: My comp is randomly crashing

I have an older Dell comp that is running Windows XP version 5.1.2600. It seems to be crashing randomly. I have been combing over the event logs and can't really pin point what is happening. I have received 2 different sets of error codes. Is there a site where I can find out what these numbers refer to? I am pretty decent at trouble shooting but other than thinking the power supply might be going I am stuck. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Error code 1:

BCCODE: 1000007e
BCP1: C0000005
BCP2: F7B77343
BCP4: F78CE834
Product: 256_1

Error code 2

BCCODE: 10000050
BCP2: 00000000
BCP3: 80551211
BCP4: 00000000
OSVer: 5_1_2600

Preferred Solution: My comp is randomly crashing

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Go here and post the results of the memory and hard drive tests:

This started happening yesterday for no reason. I start up my PC, and everything loads fine. I then launch my browser and after a few minutes of random browsing, the browser hangs, and then it grays out and I get the "program is not responding" thing, but then I try to ctrl alt delete to launch the task manager to end it, but it doesn't pop up. It takes literally like 10 minutes until the browser re-activates and then I am able to use ctrl alt delete and end it. Then, I go to restart the browser and it doesn't pop up. I constantly double click it and then it decides to work a few minutes later, resulting in multiple browsers to launch at the same time.

Sometimes when I'm not so lucky, the browser freezes and after a while THE ENTIRE COMPUTER freezes and I have no choice but to hold the button to restart it.
I restarted it in safe mode and it works completely fine after that.

Scratch that. It ran fine in safe mode but messed up in safe mode w/ networking

Not sure where to post this but after playing World of Warcraft or too much multimedia playing, comp would crash. It would just freeze up.

It all started when I fooled around with Regedit and played around with the memory management and page pool size settings etc. I've set it back to what it was before but that didnt seem to have done anything.

Im thinking it had something to do with that or perhaps memory if not overheating.

How can I pinpoint my problem more?

Any scanners I can download etc?

Hi guys,

For some reason my comp is crashing after about 2 minutes of being switched on. Very frustrating!! I have done a housecall scan which showed up a few things but would not delete one specific infection. I will try and get the name of it for you.

In the meantime I have a HJT log just in case there is anything on there. By the way, I did the log whilst in safe mode but will reboot and do another one for normal Windows.

Thanks in advance...

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

last week I started having random crash issues (when turning on comp after leaving it in sleep), it seemed to have a long pause when turning on, i would get a message that boot failed from BIOS, I would reset and it would start up the 2nd time with "windows did not shutdown properly" message, I also had other issues appear so I re-installed windows about a week back...well.. went to turn on comp tonight and nothing was happening for a while, then eventually it started with the "Windows did not shutdown properly" message... I left the computer in a sleep state last night, she used it this afternoon, she said she went too shutdown but it reported I was logged in so she walked away from it, so it should sleep after 10 minutes...

...anyway, when it started the avast service was running and set to automatic in the services menu...I had this service set too manual in both her and my account with the tray icon set not too load either - basically I dont have it running but I have it installed so i can load it when I want with my ON/OFF scripts... the event viewer doesnt say anything other than shutdown at 4pm ish was unexpected... personally I think its shutdown illegally for some reason, but when booting immediately after one of these "crashes" it crashes again...th... Hello, not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem. But my brother's computer is crashes spontaneously, usually when he either runs a game or is using internet explorer(tho one time he left his computer on and left the room and came back and it was off, then he got an error message and we had to use the recovery console to fix it). Anyways, it works now, thought highly doubt it will stop from crashing again unless I do something. What steps would I take to ensure that it won't do that?

He's got windows xp home and avg free virus protector, windows defender, and I have ran the defrager, disc cleanup, scan disk, and scanned with windows defender and the avg free. Is there any other measures I can take to maybe fix an internal system error that keeps crashing his computer? or do you think its his ram cards(running dual 1 gig sticks, so 2 gigs total) or processor that's doing this?

Any help would be great. Thankyou and sorry if I posted this in the wrong category.

A:Comp keeps crashing

We would have no way of diagnosing the problem unless we have the error codes.

Do you receive a blue screen when it crashes?

Navigate to C:/Windows/minidump. If there any files there - zip them up and upload to your post.

hey guys Im here looking for some help. my comp just shuts off at any time, its been happening for a while now. I had XP running now upgrade to vista ultimate, I have a ASUS Mobo with an athlon xp 2800+, 2 512 RAM sticks and a 160GB HDD. I've switched the PSU, I just bought a new heat sink for CPU, got nothing nothing. Now it comes on for the first time then it shutoff after like 3mins then vista doesnt even fully stat up before it shutsdown every other time. Before WIndows didnt say why its doing it but now since upgraded to vista its saying that it could be bad drivers for the video card (which is intergrated) or the video card itself. I was considering installing an AGP video card but I wondered if windows is wrong I dont want to spend the money if its not the video card. any1 have a clue as what could be the problem? I have ran many apps to check the temp of the cpu, and the mobo. I tried an app for fan speed, I got the drivers from VIA website. I'm thinking about upgrade but I need to resolve this issue soon until I can upgrade the mobo itself.

I read the other thread with computer freezing problems, and it's not related.

The problem is the following:

On April 27, my computer installed a windows update which I didn't notice. I turned on my computer and after 5 minutes of it being turned on, it froze.

I tried to system restore and noticed there was a windows update, so I tried to restore to a point before the windows update, but it didn't let me. Once in the screen with my background and all that, it freezes after 5-10 minutes of being turned on. It freezes even faster when either my msn or firefox is running.

On a side note: Most of the times when I install a windows update, something happens.
For example, Windows Vista Package 2 Update. I updated my computer, and before it started up, it stopped loading the screen where I input my password, a black screen appeared. But this one could be solved with system restore.

As I mentioned above, system restore is not helping this time. I already backuped my main files, in case the solution is to format it to its factory shipped state.

In case that's the solution, I have lost my discs.. How do I format it back without the discs?

Any help on what to do is appreciated.

I'm not sure what update it might be; the latest one on my Vista Home Premium 32-bit is dated April 14.

My PC is doing the strangest thing lately. It randomly freezes (often lately), with no BSOD's or anything of the sort. Mouse becomes unresponsive, nothing works at all (Task Manager, etc). I re-installed Vista in hopes that that would solve the problem, but even in my clean install it still occurs. This is leading me to believe that there is some sort of physical hardware problem. What could it be? Graphics card? Air supply/ventilation? Power supply?

Thanks in advance!

I have recently started getting whole system freezes again that require the use of the power button to reset the comp from. Had this trouble before randomly roughly every 2-3 months between bouts of it. Originally I suspected chrome was causing it as it was always while watching youtube vids on chrome, I switched to firefox which seemed fine but that recently started acting a bit laggy and not always loading properly on youtube despite clearing the cache and such. I decided to uninstall and reinstall chrome and give that a try, was working ok for about a week then chrome started loading pages slower. The next day the comp froze up while using chrome again with youtube vids playing. I checked my graphic drivers and they are up to date, flash version is current. The only area that seems to have a discrepancy is the audio drivers, I use realtek ones that i got from the asus website, the last driver update they had was december 2012, the realtek site has drivers from november 2013 but not sure which on... Within the last month my computer has began to randomly shut off. The screen just goes blank and the computer totally shuts down, not even restarting. After it had crashed, I cant turn it back on without unplugging it for a few seconds and then trying it again. It seem to do it most when i am playing video games, but it has occured outside of them. I have scanned it over and over for any viruses or spyware and there are none.

I was thinking that it could be my psu but i am not sure, it is only about 3 months old. link

I've recently got a Packard Bell IXTREME X6618 UK
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @2.34 GHZ
Memory : 4.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit.

I've only had the computer for around about 4 months.
So it's fairly new. In the past week-2 weeks. The PC has been turning itself off randomly at any time. It only seems to switch itself off when i run a gaming program like : L4D or CSS etc.
I only last about 5-10 mins in the games until it usually turns itself off and doesn't restart.
I've run scanners and nothing is in my computer.
It has increasingly become to frustrate me as i just want to game with my friends online without having any issues.

I have to say that sometimes it runs perfectly fine for an hour or two then turns itself off, but that's only rare.
I've un-installed norton/symantec off the pc as it came out of the certain amount of months i had to use it period and i know it can cause problems.

I don't know what else could be going wrong. I have moved the computer about a few times but i've never hit it or moved it about harshly for anything inside to go wrong.

I hope to hear back asap. Thank you for your support and time.

Edit: I am also wondering if it has anything to do with my Windows Vista. I am not entirely sure of the problem, so i posted in this thread for the meantime.

With my laptop, It seems to crash and stops responding after a while. I think my computer has a small bug but I cant run any scans because the laptop crash's. Even if its left on then after some time the laptop will slow downs its response time with opening something as small as a txt file and the mouse will stop responding and then just move slow.

Programs I have:
Windows Vista (Basic)
Kaspersky Anti Virus,
Spybot Search & Destory,

When i run them they just stop responding as does the laptop. Is it a security issue or is there something I can do?
The memory usage seems to be a bit high as this image shows.

I do have 1.5GB RAM

Help Please?

hi everyone,

whenever i play a game on my computer after a while it crashes saying (gamename).exe has encountered an error and must be closed, i have no idea what this is. Eq2 can take hours to crash, but as soon as i hit the "stress test" option on countstrike source it does this.

My video card is nvidia geforce 6600

windows xp athlon 3.2

When it crashed last with EQ2 it said it would include a file frmo my temp folder called 6191appcompat.exe. If thats relevent tell me and ill get more info on it.

Okay I am praying you can help me. I have norton and microsoft anti spyware installed. On friday I clicked on a site link and somehow a virus got into my system, and then when I ran a scan I found several viruses/trojans/worms including, Navidad, transponder drpmon, transponder aurora, drsch, and god knows what else.

I went to another help site and ran all the scans THEY said to run including adaware se. Afterwards I restarted my comp and there were still pop ups on my system and spyware. I ran mic anti spyware and it seemed to have removed them. But now I have a new problem, ever since I ran the scans on my pc and tried to remove the viruses now my ie doesn't work properly nor my netscape navigator, IE will start up and then the window will close, and when I do get ie to run my comp shuts down on me and reboots by itself.

I have no idea what to do and I am at my wits end, im trying to hurry up and type this before my comp crashes again.

I hope you guys can help me.

Right, am doing a post for my friend that got a rather unusual problem.
Whenever he is playing a game for about 5 minutes, his screen gets all purpley, watery, or how to explain (Pics are linked below for better understanding)

It gets watery for about a minute, then the computer shuts down. After rebooting his graphics are to hell, which you can see on the pics below. Its got even worse now, when he starts the PC it looks like below, and its unchangable, which is.. Bad. Its probably a hardware problem, but which? :O

Havent got a slighest idea what to do, all help is appreciated.

Oh and computer specs are:
Intel Core Quad core 2.4 GHz
4 GB Ram - Brand not known
Vista 32bit
nVidia GeForce 9800 GT

May be a bad graphics driver or the graphics card has developed a fault.
Try downloading the latest graphics driver from the PC or motherboard manufacturer's website if it's an integrated graphics device, or download from the device manufacturer's website if it's a separate PCI or AGP graphics card.

hey guys, im having a problem with my comp and ive tried a lot to fix it but have had no luck, this is whats happening..

First, when I boot the computer, sometimes it just doesnt boot. The fan turns on, the hdd spins but nothing happens.

Then recently, i've been getting crashes. I can usually run fine for a few hours, then it crashes. No bsod, it just freezes. Then the same problem(comp wont turn on) I listed above happens, if I try like 50x in a row, eventually it'll work and windows will start.

If I leave the computer off for like 30 minutes, it will boot everytime, but even if the comp has been on for 10 minutes, i'll have to leave the computer off for like 30min before it will boot up again

Some things ive tried to fix it:

format, blow fan on inside, re-seat cards and check connectors, all no luck

incase it matters
512 ram
chaintech ct-skt600 mobo
amd 2200ghz

Thanks and if you need anymore info please tell me!

You may have the transformer or capacitor in the power supply going bad. Do you have another PS you can try? Can you get voltage readings? If you have a used computer store near by, you maybe able to purchase a used PS for as little as $10.

When I start up Counter Strike: Source, It sometimes makes my monitor screen go black other than a light blue box with a white border, which says "No Signal Input Check Video Cable". I did the obvious thing, checked my video cable, nothing changed, same thing happened. My friend fooled around with it, fixed it . 2 Months later (now) the same thing happened , i checked the video cable, nothing, i asked my friend again, nothing. This doesn't always go to a black screen at the main menu, but when playing the game . Is this due to my video card? Or something else? Should i re-install the drivers? My video card is a Nvidia 9500 GT (got it for christmas in 08)
When the screen goes black, the sound still is there, although it repeats the sound my computer does not turn off either.

Thanks for the help

I've just signed up to this forum and would really want some help regarding my computer which keeps crashing, i'm an intermediate comp user but i don't know much about troubleshooting errors.
I found another post somewhere in this forum where some guy seemed to be having a similar error, and had been asked for some infos so i just wrote down what it said on the blue crash screen.

After a bit of stuff saying what u should do if this is the first time u've seen this screen there's some technical info as follows - *** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x32354632, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x32354632).

Just below that there is a counter which is changing according to the percentage of physical which has so far been dumped onto the disk.

I'm pretty sure that i need to show a little bit more info that just this, but i don't know what is needed, plz don't mind to ask for any more infos to do with this problem.

Sorry about not being able to have any info on when it started to happen or after what change it started to happen, i just install and update software and drivers on my comp quite often, usually when there is a newer version.
But if i remember correctly i think it started to happen after i updated a few drivers.

If i need to display my comps stats i wouldn't mind doing so, just i cbs unless it's really needed.

recently (like within the past few days) my comp has been crashing constantly, not with the usual stuttering followed by the blue screen of death, but just straight up shutting down suddenly, the computer itself turns off, then reboots itself a few seconds later

my computer had been crashing a lot the "normal" way awhile back, but i was pretty sure it was due to a rootkit virus, and i was able to fix that, it hadn't crashed in months, and now this started

I'm posting this from my brothers laptop because my comp crashes so often that i wouldn't have time to post this from my computer

i am desperate for help and i don't really know what to do or where to go, please let me know if you need any more information and i'll do my best to provide it

Lets see if there are any recent dump files> Follow the instructions here> http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html
Lets see if the BSOD dump file(s) can tell us whats going on.

Then lets have a look at the temps and voltages >
D/L and run Hardware Monitor do something intense like a virus scan or gaming for a bit, Alt+Tab back to HWM expand all the trees and use the Win7 snipping tool to grab a screen shot of the HWM window, post the screen shot using the paperclip button in the advanced message box(Go Advanced button).

Please help, my computer crashes randomly, when i say freezing, i mean the screen turns blue and it makes the computer restart, where i have the option of starting windows normally or in safe mode or save mode with networking. I chose safe mode with networking and things have been working ok like this, Its not when i open any specific program, it can happen as soon as my computer starts up or after my comp been working for a while. Also, since this started happening, my internet expolorer doesnt work anymore, it will usually say that internet exploror has stopped working and windows is checking for a solution, which it never finds, and it shuts it down. i have to use google chrome to get on the internet. I dont know anything about computers, i tried to restore it to an earlier date but it wont let me do that and everytime i turn on my computer the normal way (im in safe mode now) an error sign from norton comes up saying 5013,3 is wrong with it and how to fix it, but that didnt work either. Someone please help me, i have no idea how to fix this and this seems like a good website filled with people who know what they are doing. Oh, so everyone knows, i am computer illiterate. First, my PC specs...
CPU- AMD Phenom 2, 3.2ghz 6-core
PSU- Apevia 680W(old PSU) and Corsair CX750M(new PSU)
GPU- Radeon 6750HD(old GPU) and GeForce GTX 650TI(new GPU)
MOBO- Asus Evo AXT (about 4 years old)
RAM- 2x4GB dual-channel 1600hz corsair
My issues started when I decided to upgrade my GPU to the GeForce 650TI. I got it, plugged it in and all that goodness, but my games kept crashing. At first, my PC would say that the drivers were crashing. I, being stupid, decided to keep the card and fight through it until the drivers were updated and would be more stable. The crashes didn't stop, however. Then came the BSOD. It's constant and unpredictable. The only time it happens is when I'm gaming, but it can happen once every 5 hours or once every 20 minuets (lately, more frequently). So, I finally was able to afford a new PSU today, as everything I've read said that MUST be the problem. It didn't do anything whatsoever. SO, with the new PSU and new GPU in, I decided to put my old GPU in and see what happened. Logically, taking steps to make sure none of the drivers were overlapping, ect. I assumed it would work. Nope. New PSU and old GPU, still constantly getting blue screens, even at low video settings in the game. I'm not running other programs or background operations. No antivirus, ect. I've been into my BIOS to look at my 12v fluctuation and on the old PSU it's between 11.76 and 12.03 and on the new one it's between 11.97... Read more
