I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: x1950 Pro PSU requirement

A short answer no. ATI says a min of 450W with at least 30amp on the 12V rail for that card. It looks like you are running a prescott cpu. If that is correct, then I would go with a min of 550W and 35amp on the 12V rail.

Do not go cheap on the pw supply. Doing so can [and often does] cause ALL types of problems.

I'm planning to get 2 of these cards for xfire, i'm looking at 3 versions:

1 by ATI:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814195029

No built in cooling

1 by Powercolor:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131030

This card has an artic cooling cooling device. there's also a 256 mb version

1 By Sapphire:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102070

this one has builtin zalman cooler

I prefer to get the 2 ATI cards, mainly because i wont loose any PCI-e x1 or PCI slots, so my questions is this, how hot do these cards run? If they do run too hot, then i can either get aftemarket cooling like a zalman vf700 or 900 or get either a Powercolor or Sapphire version, in each case i'll lose those slots. Does the ATI version require any aftermarkwet cooling?

A:Radeon x1950 pro: how hot do they run?

No aftermarkety cooling is needed but I HIGHLY reccomend the SAPPHIRE, that is a Vf-900 on there.

But some better advice is buy a 8800GTS and destroy these 2 in crossfire.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102061

Is a GREAT deal though. Has ATI cooler.

I have just bought a Sapphire X1950 Pro graphics card for my vista computer. I installed it this morning and now my Windows Experience Index Score has gone down to 1.0. This card says on the box it is Vista Ready. I can now longer use Aero, and it just seems ridiculous that I have spent Ģ100.00 on a better card, and now I cant even use Aero that I was using before.

What shall I do ?

I guess the real question here is...for how long will PC games support DirectX 9?
I am aware to that fact that the X1950 PRO provides better performance and that the X1950 PRO is cheaper....
However, on the other hand the 8600 GTS has DirectX 10 support.....
I really only want to be able to play all the new video games coming out in the next 2 years.
I don't mind running them on medium or low as long as they just work.
I will only be able to upgrade my video card again in 2 years or so.
[I have considered getting the 8800gts but it is too expensive for me right now]

also dont worry about the rest of the PC specs or the power supply since they are powerfull enough.

A:X1950 PRO or 8600 GTS?

I had Newegg mail me the 8600 GTS. I got up another $100 and returned for the 8800. I think if you can hold off until you can do that, you may be happier in the long run. It's a big step and you will want to get one that will satisfy you for a long time. The 8800 GTS 320mb Superclocked is a killer GPU. Good Luck.

To make helpful observations, we must have the computer brand and model, or the part number of the motherboard. The CPU is only imporant in providing adequate processing speed.
Knowing the type of memory could be helpful. I assume by 80 gb ram, you actually mean 80 gb hdd.

Hello everyone, i have an AGP Mobo, and donīt have plans to upgrade yet, i saw some great deals on Radeon X1950, but i see that thereīs new ATI Series (HD 3000 series) and they still make the AGP option.

So the question is: should i go and buy a new series videcard, like the HD3850 AGP, they apparently require less watts and heat less.

I really donīt mind about Directx version, the games that i want to play still use directx9, and i have windows xp.

Should i buy an X1950 or an ATI new series?

I am upgrading from a Radeon 9600XT to an x1950 pro 256MB AGP - I'm not ready to rebuild my whole pc yet - and I'm having problems. Can't play any games, card seems unstable and crashes to all black once in awhile, etc. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I just upgraded my psu to an Antec Basiq 500 which meets the required specs for the card so I doubt that's the cause but maybe it requires even more juice than the Antec can provide.

I'm running a Dell Dimension 4600 with 1.75g ram, 2 hard drives, CD-R burner, DVD player, all under XP SP 2.

I've tried just about every single ATI driver I can find - but no luck.

Can someone please help? thanks in advance.

I have a question about my video card.

My video cards recommended power supply watts is 450 watts with minimum 30 amps in +12 volts.

My power supply unit is 550W with only 17 amp max.

I play world of warcraft with high settings and I don't have a problem except with a little artifacts I think due to driver and overheat issues.

What will be the side effects of my system from less amps?

Thanks!

Btw, this is what says in my power supply info

* Better Power Distribution - The X-Connect distributes 12V power to the
components that require it the most in modern PC's.
* Dedicated CPU Rail - Dedicated 12V Rail for the 2x2 Motherboard Connector
* More stable power when you need it...

A:X1950 AGp question

Well you could be seeing the effect already with the artifacts. You can also experience stability issues and crashing. And eventually you'll experience a failure of either the power supply or video card, or both and sometimes the whole system gets taken out when a power supply fails.

I'd be buying a new power supply rather then risking buy several parts later or a whole new computer.

As I don't really want to flash the BIOS on the card, is there an OCing software out there that folks have found support and success with this particular card? Or, does anyone have a forum / thread they can point me to that will yield some positive info? Or, am I just outta luck?

Hello Everyone!

I bought a new graphics card a few weeks ago. It's a Sapphire ATi Radeon X1950 Pro AGP with 512MB.
The card works gorgeously on my older mainboard (Medion OEM Board with a P4 2,4GHz) but on my newer board it just lets my whole machine crash, if it's activated through drivers (VESA works... I'm using VESA right now ). The resolution and refresh rate gets applied, but the screen stays black. After a while Windows spits out a bluescreen at me, telling ati2vdag (or something similar) has crashed.
Ubuntu on the same machine doesn't tell me anything... the screen just stays blank.
With another ATi card my drivers work fine in the exact same machine (ATi Radeon 9600 Pro).

I've got the following specs:
Intel P4 with 3GHz (HT activated)
MSI 865PE Neo2 FIS2R mainboard
2 x 512MB DDR400 RAM
ATi Radeon X1950 Pro
550W Viper PSU (nearly 40A on 12V rails)
Adaptec SCSI-Controller with matching Maxtor HDD
Three optical drives

Has anyone got any idea, what could be wrong? Is it the mainboard?

Greetings H4N$L!

I was contemplating buying a Radeon x1950PRO for my AGP based PC.
Is spending over $200AUD on this card a good idea, or would I be better off saving for a whole new system?

I want my PC to run Brothers In Arms: HH, Call Of Duty 5, Empire: Total War and other games of the near future.
With 2gb Ram (Max for my Mobo), and the x1950PRO (512mb) would I be able to do so?

Appreciate anyones input.

A:X1950 worth it?

Since your emphasis is on future gaming, I would save for a better whole new system. Yes, you could improve your current system with the X1950Pro but your old processor and AGP system will struggle with future games, IMO.

Brothers in Arms: HH has fairly modest requirements but most future games are likely to be much more demanding.

I just wanted to share that x1950 pro works with legacy 10.2 drivers for vista on my test machine with Win 8 x64 release preview. First update Dot Net. Then you need to disable windows defender (found some ebay shortcuts as malware during driver installation and stoped it), run driver in compatibility mode with Win 7, run as Administrator. If driver installation hangs use driver sweeper to clean everything and start over. Even Catalyst control center works fine
I had problems to set native resolution for my 19" lcd monitor (1440x900) through windows "Screen resolution" applet. It kept setting higher refresh rate than allowed so my monitor reported "out of range" error. Trick is to set desired resolution and not click apply or OK, but do to Advanced setting, choose monitor and make sure that reresh rate is set to 60 HZ and then click apply. Works good. You can also use CCC to set resolution once installed properly.

A:Just installed x1950 pro succesfully.

Hi all!

Had this problem for ages and never got round to posting for help, but cannot for the life of me figure it out so hopefully one of you guys can!

My x1950 was working fine with Win7 upto a month (or more?) ago, when the system refused to boot into the OS. After dismantling/cleaning/jiggling/poking it didn't seem to be a hardware issue so continued to investigate....

When I start up the computer normally, it will load up normally until the point where it should display the login screen, it is at this point that the system 'restarts' (You can hear the fans power down) but fails to do so as there is the '3 beep' from the mobo (GPU related problem in POST I believe?).

If I boot into safe mode, it boots sucessfully, but any subsequent restarts will result in the above scenario. However, if i remove the graphics drivers in safe mode then reboot, the system DOES boot up normally - although any subsequent restarts mean I go back to square one!

I have tried numerous different drivers for the x1950 with no luck at all, all end up going back to the same scenario and it is very frustrating

Could it actually be that the graphics card is failing and any attempts to use it result in a crash? Could it just be the driver? All very strange and confusing!

Anyways, any help would be most appreciated!

A:Windows 7 & x1950 problems!

Could be the card failing, but it also could be the drivers.

AMD/ATI does not support your card anymore so updating the drivers normally won't work. Look at this: AMD Game Forums - Catalyst 9.3 Legacy drivers and Windows 7 Try what is suggested there and see if that helps any...

However, if I were you, I would go ahead and get a new graphics card that will natively work with 7.

Hi, around last week or so, I bought the x1950 pro, but in AGP. After trying to cool it with water, and replacing heatsinks, something went terribly wrong. After placing heatsinks on the VRMs (Voltage Regulator Modules) of the card, booted up, the card blew. Smoke came out of one of the three vrms. Now my question is: Could I RMA this card or not? It should also be pointed out that this thread was for the X1950 PCIE cards and not AGP

Ok i've been having a few crashes in certain games recently, mainly Thief 3 but anyway what i done eventually, after exhausting every possible possibility was took the card out to give it a good clean. Actually the dust build up wasn't too bad but i noticed the gpu was absolutley CAKED in thermal paste. I mean it was literally oozing out all over the place. I thought immediately this is not good and cleaned it with alcohol before aplying (thinly this time) some Akasa ak450. Ok put it back together and certainly seen a big improvement in both the crashes and temps. However i didn't stop here, i reasoned that the memory chips could also be in a similar state so i removed the mem heatsink and unknown to me on the chips was this kind of thermal pads (blue) Anyway stupidly i applied some thermal paste on top and underneath the pads hoping for the same kind of improvement i had seen with the gpu. Unfortunetly after i had setup again i was getting even more frequent crashes than before to the extent where gaming isn't really possible. I pulled it again and tried to get all the therman paste from the pads but it was so tricky to get it off of them there must be loads left. So anyway i'm now left with a card that's giving me high temps and frequent crashes. So my question is, does anyone know where i could get some of the same kind of pads or another cooling solution altogether perhaps. I know there's many third party hsf's for ATI cards but are... I had a similar problem. Try uninstalling both the driver and CCC, then downloading the installers again and running them in Vista SP2. Once the installers finish, make sure that CCC is still in Vista SP2, and see if it works.

You can make stuff run that way by right clicking and clicking properties, then compatability.

Hello.

I recently purchased a GeCube Ati x1950Pro 256mb agp video card for my amd athlon 3000 with 1 gig of ram and a 550 PSU

I currently have the newest Omega drivers installed.

Games (such as Counter Strike Source and WoW) run fine on high settings

But my desktop icons have lines going through them ( they appear static-ey)

The Omega drivers reduced the problem the most, I used the Ati Catalyst and several icons would not show when using 32 bit color along with poor desktop drawing and performance.

Other text, such as notepad, word or webpages is normal.

I was wondering if this problem is common and if there are any known fixes.

Thanks for any help

I know i'm not really make sense but its hard to explain. 500 watt power supply - 450watt = 50watt. Will my case fans still run and other things? Thanks

A:Radeon x1950 Issue.

The video card does not take up the entire system requirement, they put that in knowing that there are other things that need power in the system, so they include those as well. They list a requirement of 450watts for all system power.

Hello I recently encountered this problem that I can only assume is caused by my graphics card (ATI Powercolor X1950 Pro). Sometimes when I'm playing a graphically intensive game, all the sudden the monitor will turn black and the light will start blinking. I can only assume that this happens because the monitor thinks it isn't receiving a signal anymore.

I thought that this might be heat related so I ran rivatuner along with 3dmark06 and the problem happened at 89 degrees Celsius. I don't think that temperature is too hot but I'm not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

As we had read in this forum, ATI has dropped the support for the DirectX 9 graphic cards like mine, the Radeon X1950.
This means no working Windows 7 drivers and no longer support for OpenSuse!
I had installed the Catalyst x64 drivers 9.1 on Win7 RC x64 but the driver is quite erratic: If I move the mouse over an icon, normaly the tooltips will be shown as long as the mouse pointer is over an icon. If I move the mouse pointer away, the tooltips should go away.
But not with Catalyst x64 drivers 9.1: After some time of working I have a lot of vodoo toolstips on the screen, which cannot been eliminated.
There is a workaround: Change the Screen Refresh Rate from 59Hz to 60 Hz or back from 60 Hz to 59Hz to vodoo tooltips go away.
I had the same phenomenon also on the last Catalyst x64 drivers for Vista (9.3), so I also switched in Vista x64 SP2 back to version 9.1.

What should I do?
Throw away the Radeon X1950 which in under 3 years old now and purchase a new graphic card?

After that lousy support of ATI I don't have so much motivation to purchase a ATI card again, but they have pricy offers (Radeon 4890, 4870 or the inexpensive 4770, which is announced but no dealer has it in stock at the moment.

Or should I wait up to end of the year when DirectX 11 graphic cards are available?

I also own a Nvidia 8800GTS in a second machine, same age but no problem with drivers for Server 2008 R2! Can you recommend a Nvida card and which model?

Normally I need support for 2... Read more

I just purchased a Radeon x1950 video card (and a new Pentium 4 3.0 ghz processor ;3) and I'm having a really odd issue that's starting to strain my eyes. To describe it, imagine you have a picture - now make a duplicate of that picture and lower the transparency to where it's -almost- invisible, then overlay the semi-transparent picture atop the solid one and scoot it over a few pixels.

It's like everything has a weird semi-transparent twin brother hanging out along side it. I made something really fast in Photoshop to better illustrate the problem but uh, apparently I'm not allowed to post links so I can't link to the picture ;p

When gaming and watching videos it's impossible to notice, but staring at these static forums and instant messages it's really apparant and it's starting to pound against my eyes not unlike an angry midget with a hacksaw.

Any ideas? I've already tried pulling the card and putting it back in, I'm running the latest drivers and my previous card (x700) didn't have this issue. I've also tried adjusting the pitch/phase of my tv. I should also point out that I'm using my Sony Bravia TV as a monitor through a DVI to whateverthenormalmonitorpluginiscalled thing that came with the card. Thanks for your time.

Recently I decided to upgrade my computer, which due to my older hardware being too old meant basically upgrading everything. (So before you ask, there are no old drivers and no old BIOS settings, it's all fresh install)

The new motherboard is a Gigabyte P35-DS3P which is running an intel dual core 1.8 Ghz. So far, I have not gotten it to even boot up. After setting it all up, I eagerly pressed the power button and was treated to a symphony of beeps, one long and two short, which my motherboard's manual said means something is up with the video card/monitor. After a closer inspection (meaning me looking into the case while it boots) I noticed some odd things.

When I very first hit the power button, my case fans start up immediately, as does the video card's fan. The x1950 also has a red LED that lights up when it is on, and that kicks up too. The CPU fan does not start immediately. In fact, it doesn't start until the x1950's LED turns off, and I hear the same familiar beeps saying that something is wrong. Only after these things does the CPU fan actually start. Meanwhile, the x1950's fan still spins normally. When the computer decides to try and reboot itself, the CPU fan will again stop long enough for the drop in speed to be noticeable, but kick back on after the computer beeps at me some more.

At first I believed it to be my power supply. Although I was running a 550 watt PSU, I thought that perhaps it was just not very good (I did buy it s... Read more

Hi all,

thinking of upgrading my 6800 agp to the card named above.

Thing is, I've read conflicting reports about the power it requires, and I'm not too clued up on power supplies. Mine is manufactures by Mercury, and has various figures on the side, the main ones of which are:

Combined outputs: (220w, 204w) 380w.

I've read some posts that say it requires at least 480w, some at least 300.

Anyone tell me if I'd be able to handle this card on my supply?

thanks

Your Mercury PSU is inadequate for the X1950PRO. A 450W minimum PSU is needed. Not only is the PSU inadequate, it is not of good quality. You'd need a good-quality PSU like this one to run the card properly.

I recently purchased a low end 2nd computer system as I had relocated to a new job recently. I of course then decided that the system wasn't good enough for my gaming when I stopped finally came home after work.

MD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ CPU:0
Specification AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+

Base Board
Manufacturer ASUSTek Computer INC. M2N68-LA
Product NARRA
(This is an HP product - not that I think that matters)

I just purchased an ATI Radeon X1950 Pro PCI Express card.

My board says it will take an x16 card as per follows:

Expansion slots

* Two PCI
* One PCI Express x16 graphics
* One PCI Express x1 (for cards such as network, sound, tv-tuner)
However I cannot get this to seat no matter what I do (a hammer is a poor option I imagine). Nothing is in the way, it all looks fine other than it just doesn't FIT.

What am I missing? If it doesn't work I need to know what does fit if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. This isn't my first system build or upgrade, and I've learned to check most things, but I am not sure where to go from here.

Thanks for any help.

I've been having some issues on BF2:SF since I installed my new Sapphire X1950 PRO. On the night maps, the gun appears white in certain (most) lighting conditions. Also, the textures on some of the buildings tend to just turn black. It's driving me nuts. I've got ATI Drivers 7.4 and 1.4.1 patch for BF2. Any ideas?

Have you checked to see if the card is overheating or not? How much are the idle and gaming temperatures? This sounds like heat-related artifacting.

Hi,
I seem to be having issues with my display driver. The default one that installed when I installed Win7 was causing graphics glitches, and when I visit AMD and install this driver: ATI Catalyst software applications tell me that my driver is out of date and to update via that site. The search is for the graphics card from my title. I look in desktop graphics, Radeon X series, X1xxx series, Windows 7 32 bit. The only one supported is a vista driver apparently? Is there another one someone can suggest to use?

I already tried uninstalling the card and restarting to reload the default Windows 7 driver. Neither of these drivers seem to work just right.

Oh, and when I look in my device manager, there's something called NTAtivrv01 that's properties say it's something to do with my video card. Further investigation leads me to believe it's a WDM capture device...? But apparently there's no driver for it, so I can't update it or use it if I were ever so inclined. I just disabled it due to not knowing what it does. I'm including a picture of it.

Any input is appreciated, I'm new to windows 7 and drowning in constant issues. 5 + years in windows XP and I never had any trouble at all, now I can't stay connected to the internet, having graphics issues, BSOD'd once, Black screen crashed about an hour ago, monitor just shut off when it occured.

I have used this graphics card for about 6 months on this new system and it has worked great with all the versions of CCC, but now, after I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled vista because of a virus, it does not work. Whenever I turned the computer on, I would get an error message that says MOM.Implementations could not be loaded or one of its dependencies. If I click ok then go into CCC, I get another error message about a different file, but the same problem. I am asking this because now when I try to install crysis the setup stops working and I figure it might be my graphics driver. I have tried reinstalling the driver several times with no luck.

A:Radeon x1950 8.2 driver problems

Hi Cherryfndrstrat,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

The lastest ATI driver version is 8.3. You might try that one to see if it will work better for you. If not, try installing it without the CCC and only with the driver.

Hope this helps,

Hi,, I have an Radeon X1950 Pro graphics card. I had Pc problem the other day so i uninstalled the driver and software for my Radeon X1950 Pro, reinstalled driver and software from here -> http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati.php which i was previously using. I have gone into the setting to turn the GPU temperature setting on from the ATI Tray Tools and it doest let me, as i cant highlight the box. The only ones i can select from line one in the On Screen Display Setting/ Select Active Fields is GPU Speed and Memory Speed. It is really important that i can monitor the temperature of my graphics card.
Running XP Pro SP3,,,,, Thanks for your time doj

Hi All

I upgraded to Windows 10 and my graphics display is appalling.

Appreciate I have a legacy graphics card, but does anyone know if there is soon to be a workaround to get the X1950 Pro card integrated with Windows 10?

If not, what is the next best alternative please?

Stick to the legacy drivers from Catalyst.
The current driver only supports from HD 5XXX series and up.

so i was thinking of buying the visiontek x1950 pro 256mb gddr3 agp video card. I read and looked at charts and people say that it performs well. What do you guys think?

my pc specs.
pentium 4 2.80ghz
2gb of ram
abit vt7
320gb hard drive
corsair 550w psu
currently i have the pny nvidia 7600gs 512mb graphic card

will the x1950 pro perform much better then the 7600gs that i have now. And is it worth updating my card. Because i am not thinking of buying a new pc with the latest things i kno that would be the smart thing to do. But im probably gonna keep my pc for another 4 years before i get the new stuff. im 16 so money is tight and i think its not worth doing what im thinking but since im gonna keep this pc for another 4 years or so i might as well. im thinking on playing games like call of duty 4 on low settings, left 4 dead on medium , and any other recent games except crysis. also will it be bottlenecked and explain what that means cuz idont get it all the way. And last if i over clock my cpu to 2.95 or 3ghz if i it gets that higgh at least will it make a difference? sorry for that many questions.

thanks

A:visiontek x1950 pro 256mb video card?

If you plan on keeping the PC that long, you could just get the best AGP card out there: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131090 You have enough good power supply for it, and your CPU won't bottleneck it soo much. It will, a bit, but it still somewhat copes with it. (bottlenecking simply is that in a game(usually a game), one part is way superiorly powered compared to another, and the worse part slows the overall performance down.)

The following is a video I have recorded of some gameplay on my computer.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=WjRJ5VIqTIY

My problem is severe graphical glitching using the MSI X1950 pro with a Dual core E6600 and 2gb's ram.

You will notice the glitching on the video despite the low bitrate.
It appears as bright colourful squares and also black blocky squares.
This is the glitch that is currently ruining all 3d applications on my pc.

I have tried it all, changing to older drivers, re-installing the latest drivers, removed side of case and put fan up to 100% with ATI tools.
During idle, card is at about 40 degrees celsius and when running Kane and Lynch dead men as above, it will go up to about 52 degrees celsius.
This is pretty normal for a card I would have thought so despite advice that perhaps it was overheating in my card, I'm inclined to think that with the case off and fan to 100% those glitches should have at least subsided and they haven't.

Even during DVD playing, you get strange pattern type blocky squares around the side of the picture and it's always there.
Card isn't even six months old yet.

Do you think it may be a faulty card?.
Thanks for any help provided.

I just got a new HD computer monitor and since i have my computer hooked up to it through DVI i cant edit any of the color settings.
The problem is that the monitor makes the colors look just a tad bit too rich, it seems like the digital vibrance needs to come down a bit, but the catalyst drivers i use only allow gama, brightness, and contrast adjustments.
Anyone know how i can edit the color thru a 3rd party program perhaps? by the way the monitor is a Gateway 24" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD HD Monitor
Model number FHD2400.
