Solved: Realtek HD audio won't install [Error Code: 0x00000002]

Q: Solved: Realtek HD audio won't install [Error Code: 0x00000002]

Hope someone can help me out with my audio problems...

I have an ASUS A54C laptop less than a month old.
-Windows 7, service pack 1.
64 bit.

About a week ago Asus live update automatically installed some updates (I didn't realise I could disable auto update, still getting used to this laptop)
when it restarted a few errors kept popping up and the webcam was not working. After googling I came across forum posts saying you have to manually download the drivers from the website. After doing that the webcam software showed a message "no audio device found" I thought ok, no problem I'll just re-install the audio driver (I had done this a few weeks previously because the built in mic was acting up).

The first half of installation completed, laptop restarted but then gave me the following error when trying to complete the second half:

Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !!
[Error Code: 0x00000002]

Things I've already tried:
-I have tried several times to install the audio driver
-Tried installing different versions
- downloading directly from realtek
-System restore a couple times but it failed.
-Updated the BIOS (although I have no idea what this actually does)

I don't know what else to do.
Please help!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

My motherboard is ASUS P8P67-M Pro. The manufacturer doesn't mention any drivers for Windows 10 x64 on their website as you can see here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67M_PRO/HelpDesk_Download/ I tried to use Windows 8.1 x64 drivers, Windows 8 x64 drivers and Windows 7 x64 drivers. None of them worked. I even tried to download drivers directly from Realtek website, it didn't work as well. I am pretty sure the drivers should be fine and work, but I think there is a problem with my operating system. I remember in the past I tried to install printer drivers and I had issues as well (while it worked fine on another PC, only this PC had issues installing the driver) and I also have problem installing the new feature update (Windows 1703), it always ends up with an error, so I can't update to this version as well.
I don't know what to do and I was thinking about re-installing windows, but it is very time consuming for me and I prefer a short solution to resolve this.
Is there any chance someone has any idea how to resolve this problem?
Thank you

Hey guys! This is my first post and I hope I can get some help!
A few days ago, I set up my desktop and installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro. Of course, I had to get all my drivers manually, and I did. Everything was all fine and dandy until I realised that I had no sound. so searching I went until I found the driver I needed: Realtek AC'97 Audio. So I restarted and figured I would have sound. That was not the case. So I went into Device Manager and found a black exclaimation mark in a yellow bubble on my sound driver. I right-clicked it and went to "Properties". In the text box it said: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"! I cannot seem to fix this issue! I went to RealTek and downloaded them. I went to Asus but could not find the drivers for my model (I am not 100% certain but I think I have a Pundit-S)

I'm running windows 10 on an HP Omen and after most recent windows update, my computers internal speakers are unavailable, as are any wired connected audio devices. Sound icon says no speakers or headphones are plugged in. Device manager, under sound, video, and game controllers does not show realtek HD audio. This only appears when I go to view and select show hidden devices. Then, under properties, I can see Code 45 (hardware device not connected. To fix, reconnect). I have attempted driver fixes including driver version Troubleshooters for audio detected nothing. I have tried rolling back the windows update.

I cannot find any sites that recommend steps beyond checking driver for the device. I've also tried calling HP tech support twice, and both times representatives told me they needed more time to find a solution (which they have failed to do).

Anyone who has dealt with this issue or has thoughts, any advice appreciated.

I don't know what's wrong with this.I have no sound for anything. and even when I try to stream videos in the internet, the video automatically pauses for about every 12 seconds.

I don't know what to do but I think you guys can help me.
I also have a Realtek AC'97 audio for VIA(R) audio controller. I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 3. My motherboard is VIA VT8237R plus.

I'm having the same problem:
Device cannot start( code 10)

I also tried to install that vinyl_v700b
but every time the installation starts, my conputer tends to restart. That's why I can't install that one.
what's wrong? Can you guys please tell me what to do?
thnx. I cant really watch videos nor play music files.

Thanks again.

A:Realtek AC'97 audio controller not working -- error (code 10)

Apart from the audio driver, it is critical to have the right chipset driver installed. The VIA southbridge needs to work properly to interface with the vinyl audio processor.
So try installing the chipset driver first, and then the audio driver. And of course make sure all MS updates are installed, including the MS UAA driver.

A:Realtek ac'97 audio drive not working, error code 10

No sound?

Try the simple things first. Speakers on and working? Plug them into a MP3 player, test that they actually amplify. Speaker plug in the correct socket in the PC? ( I mean not the Mic socket?) Have you looked in 'Device Manager' for a yellow warning by the entry for your sound option? Assume you know all the above, it's most likely still to be the wrong drivers. Go into 'Device Manager' and uninstall any sound drivers. Then go to www.drivereasy.com and download their free program, scan your PC and you will get the right driver I would think. You might also find a few other drivers out of date too. And NO it doesn't cost you to use that program. Hope this helps.

I have a D-link wireless router, dir-635, and want to use the usb port for sharing printers or usb hard drives on the network. To do that, I have to install a software from dlink, Shareport.
I have downloaded the software from d-link.com. When the download is finished, the computer turns into bluescreen.
If I deconnect the computer from the router (remove the wire and cut the wireless connection) it works. When I reconnect it again, the computer goes into bluescreen.......
Are there anything I can do to get this program work probably on my computers? I am running windows xp home edition on all three of them.

The technical information on my bluescreen is:

*** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000006, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF7DB6599)

*** tmtdi.sys ? address F7DB6599 base at F7DB4000, DateStamp 47707660

Thanx for all answers!

A:Bluescreen, error code: STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000006, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF7DB6

0xD1 errors are usually caused by drivers and from what you gave us the faulting driver is tmtdi.sys.

The thing is this driver belongs to your TrendMicro security software and not your D-Link. Perhaps updating your TrendMicro might resolve the issue.

I found that with the Realtek HD Audio drivers my sound is low and microphone is barely audible, so I uninstalled them and installed the AC97 drivers hoping that would fix the problem. Well, it didn't.

When I uninstalled those and went to reinstall my HD audio drivers (from device manager), halfway through installation my computer gets the blue screen of death and shuts down. Microsoft calls them 'stop errors'. So now I'm without sound altogether. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it!

A:Blue Screen Stop Error Code 0x000000D1 (0x7756BE9, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x7756FBE9

Is the error not accompanied by some descriptive text in block caps such as : DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ? (that line means it's a device driver issue, (bad or incompatible driver). If the system boots into safe-mode Windows without the error, it's almost certainly a driver conflict or simply a bad driver, since in safe mode only a bare minimum set of drivers are loaded, and they are all certified microsoft ones.

But the descriptive text in block caps which I referred to is just as vital as the error code itself in determining the cause.

If the error code appears during booting up it could be an indication of faulty or mis-matched RAM modules, so if you have more than one stick installed, remove them all except one, restart and see what happens. If error persists, remove that stick and replace with a different one until you've tried them all.

A:Realtek HD Audio (Code 10)

What do you show in the Device Manager, Sound section?
Post a Screenshot of that.

Code 10 can be driver or can be some other hardware issue.
In the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the RealTek and then LEFT click "Uninstall" ALSO check the box to uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC. If there are no hardware problems or conflicts, when Windows starts it will detect and and install the generic, basic function, "High Definition Audio Codec" for the sound driver. If this is installed, check to see if you have sound, and if the Speakers (High Definiton Audio Codec) is set as the default Audio playback device in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound, Playback section.

If this works, you can consider reinstalling the RealTek drivers. Where did you get the drivers you have now?

Hello everyone,

Havent been here in a while so sorry if im doing something wrong, well my problem is with a Toshiba Satellite L505D-LS5005 after having an issue with freezing at start up I ran several antivirus and spyware scans and all came up negative but the freezing continued so I then was able to go into safe mode and do an MSconfig and unchecked everything booting up. That took care of the problem with the freezing and I was able to uninstall Norton and McAfee which I believe was the problem. (enabled one by one to identify the problem so far everything is playing nice no conflicts)

Soon after getting things back to normal I noticed that the audio drivers weren't working. This computer has the "High Definition Audio drivers" but it has "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" status on the drivers. I have tried the following solutions with out results:

Uninstalled drivers from the device manager and reinstalled them using the drivers from the Official Toshiba Website. After installing I restart but still no audio and the same "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" message on the status

I have also tried uninstalling all Realtek drivers such as Ethernet controller and Wireless device controller and done one by one. All other devices install and work after installation except the audio drivers.

Hey hello everyone, I am new member here. I already checked couple threads with this same title, but I didn't really find any solution.

Here's a thing. Yesterday I went to clean my computer for dust, so I opened case and unplugged all wires. Now everything is backup except there is no sound. In device manager I got that yellow/black '!' next to Realtek AC3'97 Audio. I reinstalled drivers couple times already, but nothing. I mean, I was just cleaning dust...

So I came up with that idea that it might be the problem with the front panel pins, which I probably connected in wrong ways. I don't even know in which way those pins should be facing when connecting. So the motherboard is Asus A8N5X (from 2005, yea old), computer runs on Windows XP SP3. I tried many combinations with those pins, but nothing. I get that yellow/black '!' next to device or I get nothing at all (it won't show the device at all).

I tried reading the manual, but the wire names are different on the actual wires than shown in the manual:

And the names on wires are:

GND (black wire)
GND (black wire)
Mic Bias (yellow)
Mic In (green)
Spkout L (red)
Spkout L (red)
Spkout R (white)
Spkout R (white)

As you can see names duplicates. So I tried various combinations, but nothing. Once looked like I fixed it, after loading Windows up, there was sound icon in the tray, but PC suddenly restarted and next time there was no audio again.

Like I said I unplugged all wires befo... Read more

Very strange.  My P70 was purchased in 2016 with Win7 Pro pre-installed (because that's what I wanted).  In 2018 I installed Win10 in a second partition, in order to try it out and learn about it.  Earlier this year I made Win10 my default operating Windows, but kept the Win7 partition.  This past week I finally deleted the Win7 partition and re-installed Win10 (1909) from scratch in this now available space, just to "clean house" now that I've had almost two years of experience and learning about Win10.  My original Win10 partition was installed with 1511, and over the years came through major upgrades 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903 and just recently 1909. That's why I decided to celebrate the demise of Win7 with a clean start using a new Win10 1909 installer.
Anyway, everything is fine with the resulting Win10.  Except that today I noticed I was missing the Dolby Audio X2 app I was quite sure I had, for sure in my now deleted Lenovo factory pre-installed Win7, and perhaps in the Win10 I installed in 2018 (but I can't be absolutely sure).  But for sure it was not there earlier today when I started looking into this.  Strangely, in Sound there is a Dolby tab which indicates that Dolby Audio is ON (and can be toggled OFF), so the Realtek driver supporting Dolby Audio sound appears installed properly. But the separate Dolby Audio app (which provides five EQ preset choices as well as a manual cusomizable 20-band graphic EQ) is not installed... Read more

Recently, I installed this Windows XP Professional SP2 on my comp. Once done, I am not been able to install my audio drivers for Realtek High Definition Audio. I couldn't understand what the problem is. Before, they were working fine, now since I had re-installed the Windows again, the whole thing came into being. I had done reinstalling the Windows several times now.

The drivers for the device are installed. But it says the device cannot start.[Code 10].

I had done loads of things, such as :

1. Reinstalling the drivers after uninstalling the same.
2. Rebooting as appropriate.
3. Surf through different sites to check, what best I can do, to tackle the whole thing. But nothing so far.

Hopefully someone be able to tell me, what to do.....

I need my sound back, as my work is completely hung up without it.....

We are running Windows XP and get an error code upon booting up that says, "Setup error encountered during installation - Error code 000D". I normally go to the web to find assistance, but can't seem to find an answer this time. Most ask if I have a file called "Creator" or Roxio products installed on the computer. I have searched for these files, but haven't found any. I do have a SONIC program. And I do have Creative MediaSource, but I don't think these are the same. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all, I don't know a lot about computers, so bear with me... I just inherited an HP Pavilion HPE h8-1050 Desktop computer (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02859331).  It came with Windows 7, and I plan on upgrading to Windows 10 before the July 26th "free upgrade" deadline. (although I could be talked out of that, if it matters).   I would, ideally, like to install Realtek Audio Manager to replace the Beats Audio that the machine came with.  From what I've read online, it seems that it may not be possible.  I plan to do some audio recording on this new machine, and I don't really want everything filtering through Beats, with its kooky settings and sound manipulations.   I tried to download the Realtek Audio Driver, but after the install it doesn't show up anywhere (other than Add/Remove Programs, strangely).  It doesn't appear in Control Panel, or Device Manager, or Programs.   The only file that shows up in a computer-wide search is the setup file, which I've run twice.  I certainly don't have the option or access to choose it over Beats.  I have a feeling it's simply not compatible.   So I guess my question is this: Is there a modification I can make to this machine (ie, new sound card?) so that I can install and use Realtek? Or is Beats simply hardwired into the motherboard in such a way that there are no alternatives.   Thanks for reading,Nathan

Edit: Answered my own question I can re-assing rear jacks with the default drivers so had to install the realtek ones.

You're re-assing? lol

Yep, usually better to have the most up to date drivers, if for nothing else but stability of the system.

I Hope someone can help me with this.
Previously, I had the Realtek HD Audio Driver package installed along with Nvidia on my win xp system. Worked like a charm. Could go into NVIDIA Control panel and there I had the options "Realtek" for playing sound through my computer, or Panasonic (Nvidia HDMI connection to my TV. Now I have windows 8 God help me! "Talk about "If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

In the Nvidia Control Panel Audio Setup, now the only two options offered in the sound setup window are:
DVI: "No audio capable display available" (Greyed out! )
HDMI: Panasonic TV
It also shows sound readings for Panasonic (TV), Speakers, Earphones and Microphone. But if I try to switch from TV to Speakers (computer) it either doesn't make the switch and I lose the tv sound and end up with no sound reading in any category. I eventually get the tv sound back by repeating the setup process several times. I am hoping that installing the Realtek driver will make switching as simple as it was and that maybe not having it installed is the problem.

Here is the problem: Win 8 32 Bit keeps interrupting my attempts to install it with error message: Install Realtek HD Audio Failure Error code"-0001. Can't find any info on that one related to win 8 although one does support win 8, searching Bing and Google. But I did find mentions of "the Microsoft UAA driver" being the cause of HD audio software installation problems. If ... Read more

I got blue screen on installation of realtek drivers, tried about 5 versions, in the dumps is the attempt to install the 2.70 version.

Already tried reinstalling windows from another media.

More info I forgot to post,
The BSOD occurs during the installation, and after the reboot, system got stucked with a black screen, I need to reboot again on safe mode and uninstall the realtek driver.
Tried the installation with the latest driver, some versions before, and the driver that came with the notebook, all them gave me BSOD's.

The system is a philco phn14ph24 with an asus(pegatron) motherboard, model H24L, pentium T6600 processor, 4 gb of memory. Fresh installed Windows 7 ultimate X64 SP1.

Welcome aboard.

Unfortunately, the dumps you uploaded are not opening. May be those are corrupt. If you extract those using SF Diag Tool one more time, it would be nice.

Sorry for such a let reply, and thanks for your cooperation.

So I'm working with an HP Compaq DC7700 Ultra Slim here, it has a mono onboard speaker. It runs Windows XP Professional 32 bit

I installed a Nvidia GT710 and the drivers for it, I forgot to uncheck the Nvidia audio drivers since i wouldnt be using HDMI and didnt need them anyway. This broke the realtek drivers already in the system.

So after removing everything audio related, and the nvidia drivers, i reinstalled the nvidia drivers without the nvidia audio.
Then went to install the realtek drivers again to get my onboard audio back.
Nothing seems to work, the drivers from HP dont work, the drivers directly from realtek dont work, their newest drivers dont work, a few different driver finder programs dont work, ive got nothing. I dont even get an audio mixer panel, opening it up in the control panel just shows "No Audio hardware"

I know its not a hardware issue, i still get the occasional beep from confirmation boxes and such.

I have no idea what to do about this, any help is appreciated, thank you.

A:Unable to Install Realtek Audio Drivers

Hi, and welcome to TSF.

You said that you uninstalled everything audio related but, to completely clean everything from the system usually requires a special tool.

Its named Display Driver Uninstaller but.......

Display Driver Uninstaller, or DDU, is a driver utility programs that allows you to remove all traces of NVIDIA, AMD, and INTEL display and audio drivers from Windows.

Maybe worth a try?

Hi guys, im in a serious trouble here and i need help from you guys. My computer is working fine , but just recently , i've download the latest realtek driver,R228, from the realtek official website. During the installation , the program requires me to uninstall the current audio driver , which they did it automatically for me when i click the ok button. After they had uninstall my current driver , i reboot , following all the instructions given , and now im not able to install the realtek audio driver. I recieve "Install realtek hd audio driver failure error code : 0x00000057".

I did search for solutions for days, but all the solutions doesn't apply to me. I've tried the famous solution , which is to disable and uninstall the UAA driver, but the problem is, i don't even have the UAA driver in my device manager. Im using Window Vista business 32 bit. My motherboard is biostar g31-m7 te.

I've uninstall all the realtek drivers , and do a driver cleaning with a driver sweeper program. I've even disable the on-board audio in the bios setting.

Any idea how can i solve this problem? Really need help. Thanks alot in advance.
