I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello guys!                   This is Kamesh. And I own a Lenovo B490 (20205) laptop that was provided by Govt. of TN. I had the B460 before. I tried to update the correct BIOS on B460 that was downloaded from Lenovo IN site. And it worked perfectly without any problem. The Govt. of TN logo disappeared and the normal Lenovo Logo appeared on B460. So this is fine. Now that I have the B490 and I tried the same. I downloaded the BIOS update from Lenovo IN site by inputting my Laptop serial number and it showed my laptop as Lenovo B490 which is correct. So, I saw that the BIOS update was available. I decided to download and install it. I had Windows 10 64 bit in my Laptop. I installed it and I started the BIOS update it showed me the usual warnings such as Connect AC adapter. I did all the things (I've previous experience of updating the BIOSes). So, it started to flashing the BIOS and after some time the laptop didn't turn on. Found out that the BIOS didn't post. The screen was complete black. I have no copy of previous working BIOS. Now that my Laptop won't post. I tried many methods on internet to recover the BIOSes. I tried the WinCrisis.exe method and found out that it works only with Phoenix BIOS. And I have Insyde BIOS. Please let me know if you can help me with this. Do any one of you have backup of the Govt. of TN BIOS backup? If so, how can I recover the BIOS and reset it to normal state. Hi emmett82,

Please let us know what is the error you received while trying to install the driver update for the system.

First of all manually remove the drivers from the system by following the link below:

Hi brunoramiro and welcome to the community,

You can run the tool here and it should show you what the Model and Serial number is.

Here is your Hardware Maintenance Manual, that will show you you the complete specs. of your machine along with what type of RAM it has and how to access it.

I have a nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro pci bus videocard.
The other day I bought the follow up of MOH (sorry forgot the name because returning it to the store)but ofcource you already see the problem rightaway:error log file of the game told me the card was missing out on some functions. Can this card be updated so "heavy duty games won't be a problem in the future?(il2/fb-wolvenstein-cfs2 run good though!)

Thanx for listening!

A:nvidia riva tnt2 model 64/model 64 pro update wanted

Well...you can get the latest drivers for the card, but it won't help that much, because it's a TNT2...and PCI....

If you wanted to play newer games, you'd have to get a new video card....but if you're running a PCI video card right now, then it may not be worth it...check if you have an AGP slot, is should be above the PCI slots on the motherboard, and slightly offset from them...if you have an AGP slot, then that's good, because you could get a good video card...but if you don't, you'll probably be better off getting a whole new system rather than just upgrading the video.

A:Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 / Model 64 pro Problem?

Just to be clear, 32-bit is actually 16,777,216 colors, so its much more then 256 which is just 256 colors. So for 256 you need to lower the color depth not increase it.

O... Here's my dillema.   My HP NVIDIA card (HP p/n 466762-001 rev:M03) in my HP Model: 9520f Windows 7 Ultimate machine failed.   I replaced it with an ASUS NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT card (p/n 5188-8004, asus p/n C403H) that came from a spare HP Pavillion Model a6150y Vista machine I had on hand. The initial VID/Graphics card failure and susequent replacement caused much havock with Windows and some other stuff (ie, not booting/loading Windows etc...) and after much effort I was able to get everything loading & working reasonable well again.   But the problem I'm still having is with the old drivers (removing them and all their remnants) and loading the new drivers for the ASUS NVIDIA card that is now in my machine.  I've tried normal uninstalls as well as the GURU 3D.com DDU uninstall.  I think (and it appeares) that all the old NVIDIA drvers and other software has been uninstalled because I can not find any of it in the normal locations.   But I am still unable to install the NVIDIA 8500GT drivers for the ASUS card from the NVIDIA site or even the NVIDIA drivers/software updates that Windows Update has detected and suggested in Windows updates.  The insalls start out fine but soon fail to complete. Evidently I (and my brother who was in my machine remotely for a good 6 hours because he is an IT/Computer tech and is ten times more knowledgable than I on this) are missing something very... Hi, In my PC I have an Nvidia GeForce GTS250 1GB, I am looking at getting a new game 'King Arthur Fallen Champions', the sys req says recomended GPU is a 9800 GT 512MB. I have read in the web that some GTS250's are rebranded 9800's, this leads me to believe that the two cards are on par as far as performance? Am I correct, will my GTS250 have any issues running this game?

Thanks,

A:Nvidia old and new model comparison help please.

If I recall corrctly, the GTS250 is actually just slightly faster than the 9800GT.
Granted, its not by very much.

While that game does need the GPU power, its also more of a CPU heavy game.
But I think you'll be fine with your E8400.

The game isn't nearly as demanding as TW Empire for example.

Have you played the K.A Games before?
I can tell you right now, if you absolutely hate games like Rome Total War, you probably will not like it. If you do enjoy those type of games youll have fun with it.
They are much like a Total War game, only with RP elements. Its set up a bit different, but sorta has that TW gameplay feel to it.
I like it myself , but its not everyones cup of tea.

If you didnt realize, thats a stand alone expansion. Theres also the main game itself (King Arthur the Role Playing War Game)
I do not have the stand alone expansion myself, but I would guess that the full game may have more content.. not 100% sure though.

At any count, I think youll be fine.
You may not be able to have all settings at MAX, like view distances on a battlefield, but you should be able to play the game well.
Your system exceeds the Min requirement, and much closer to recommended.

Check bios entries for boot order and disable PXE (network) boot. Also run diagnostics on HDD while in BIOS and check to see if HDD problems show up.Last - if no hard drive issue is present, and your computer says no system disk present you may have an issue with Windows OS or the boot loader it uses. Boot from Windows DVD or EasyBCD emergency disk to repair any issues with the Windows boot loader.Good luckCB

I recently reformatted my computer's harddrive, and I've been working on getting everything back to it's normal working order. I'm having issues with my video card. It should be installed correctly, I haven't taken it out at all, and it worked a while before the reformat. I think I have the correct driver installed (This one).

But when I plug the monitor into the video card's plug, the monitor won't show anything, it's just blank with the little light, normally green, glowing orange. When I go to the System Information, the only video card that shows up is the one on the motherboard.

Am I using the correct driver? Any other possible solutions?

A:nVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 issues

G'day Redalert95, I gather you have onboard video and that is working but your card is not. It is not a good idea to plug video leads if the machine is running, it could quite easily kill something.
It is possible that you may need to disable the onboard video in BIOS to allow the daughter card to operate.
This makes it odd that it may have changed from previous settings which were apparently working OK.
If this might be correct it may be pertinent to replace the battery at this time before going any further.
Your board manual BIOS settings should help determine what is happening. In some machines if you plug in a video card the onboard is automatically disabled, but your note does not infer this to be the case, therefore it seems you are going to have to carefully follow the BIOS set instructons in the manual. You likely have an onboard enable somewhere. The LED showing orange instead of green simply indicates no information is being received by the monitor.
You should not need any driver to be loaded to give your card operation for the monitor to operate in a basic mode.
The proper driver will only give the thing all the colours and abilities you are used to normally seeing.
Be extremely careful and ensure the power lead is removed anytime you plug items like cards, and ensure your follow antistatic rules.
Cheers, qldit.

Evening, My roommate's laptop just gave out and gave us the BSOD. It won't start up and freezes at random places in the boot sequence. It will not let him log in, and a 'clean install' won't work either. Using the HP diagnostic tool it said that the laptop failed the DST Hard Drive test.. or something. I don't remember at the moment. So what I'm getting is that the hard drive basically doesn't work anymore, which means it's time to replace the hard drive. Keep in mind this computer was purchased in 2014, so the warranty is probably already void. My question: IS it possible to replace the HDD in this laptop with an SSD? If so, how would I go about doing that? The videos detailing deconstruction guides are similar to the build of this laptop but not the same, and I don't want to dive into this thing with a screwdriver before having a roadmap. Thank you for your help! Orion

I have a Fry's FM 7340, it went belly up a week ago. Has an IDE 80 hard drive that I was told works, but they said that they think the mother board went bad. Had it for 4 or 5 years. Does anyone know if I can get a replacment motherboard? Or put the HD in an external case and access it?

Thanks

Bill T.

A:Fry's FM 7340 model failed mother board

You should be able to put it in another case to access it. The only problem with getting a replacement motherboard is that Microsoft then considers it a new computer (unless you get the same motherboard).

If you can get the same motherboard then you could just use it as a replacement, though you may have to call Microsoft and explain what happened before being able to use the computer again.

Hello Eight Forums,

Last week I finished building a computer, generally for gaming. I purchased a nVidia Geforce GTX 660, and I'm running the 306.97 driver. While attempting to upgrade to the newer 310.90 driver, I came across an an error message: NVIDIA Installer cannot continue: A system restart is required. Restart the system and try again. Having come from a rather old and outdated ATI Radeon 9250, I have had no previous experience with a nVidia card, so naturally I restarted my computer and tried again. However, the message persisted. No matter how many times I restarted the computer, it would give me the same message.

Furthermore, I can't install or uninstall the drivers, and I can't install any nVidia product that uses the nVidia installer.

I have absolutely no idea how to fix the problem. I've probably searched for an answer a thousand times and then some, and nothing I've seen has worked for me. I don't think I've done anything wrong. Perchance someone here would be able to help me out?

Relevant system specifications:

ASUS M5A97 Motherboard
AMD FX-4130 CPU @4.1GHz overclocked
Corsair XMS3 4GB(x2) RAM
nVidia Geforce GTX 660
1TB HDD
Windows 8 64-bit

Thanks guys.

A:nVidia Installer Issue

Solved the problem myself, and it came rather accidentally.

I was doing a registry sweep with CCleaner, and I found an odd entry that said something like NVIDIA_RebootNeeded_(something).
Anyway, after fixing the issues, I had a hunch and tried uninstalling the drivers again. Sure enough, it didn't ask me to restart my computer.

Thanks anyway. c:

A:Windows 10 failed installation on Lenovo Desktop S30 model

For the longest time I couldn't install Windows 10 on my Lenovo S30. The problem was that Windows 10 could not deal with the SCU hard drive port, apparently. Many forums will tell you to open your case and move your hard drive from the blue connector to the red connector. But now there are drivers that will fix the problem. I installed them on Win7 with no problem, and then the upgrade to Win10 proceeded flawlessly.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me.. I'm trying to update my nvidia nforce ethernet driver (because I keep getting random reboots, a previous post on here seems to indicate its a common problem and updating ethernet driver will solve it) However whenever I run the installer it extracts all the files, gets to the preparing setup screen - when the progress bar gets to full it just exits automatically. Bloody annoying! This also happens when I try to install the original nforce drivers from my mobo disk.. I' aware I can try and do them manually of course with the "have disk" option from add hardware but I don't know which is the correct driver and I end up for some reason with two Nvidia Nforce networking controller's (one called #2 and one just called Nvidia Nforce networking controller, the #2 is the one that is installed normally for some reason) and neither of them work then!

Hi

My machine has an installation that is activated every time the system boots. It Hogs about 70-80% CPU utilisation and doesn't seem to clear even if left for some time.

Since I haven't installed any application recently except the normal MS patches I have no Idea what has caused it. Once the task has been terminated in task manager it doesn't come back until the next boot.

Any Ideas how to stop this process?

I tried to update via the HP.com Customer Support ? Software and Driver Downloads page. Cannot update drivers on either Nvidia or the native Intel graphics card.

HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC; Product: E1P04AV; Windows 10, originally shipped with Windows 8. All windows software is up-to-date.

I was able to update several other drivers, and proceeding to update as much as I can through the HP updates. Because of forum warnings, I haven't tried to update these via either Nvidia or Intel, though the error messages are generated by the respective companies, and the install utilities that launch via the HP page are from Nvidia and Intel.

I am appalled that HP doesn?t have automatic updates for drivers and utilities, and that I am only learning this because I am having problems.

Hi: I'm not surprised that the nVidia graphics adapter won't install for you. According to the parts list for the product number you posted, your notebook only has the Intel UMA graphics adapter, not the nVidia/Intel switchable graphics. Enter the product number you posted in the box at the link below and you will see the available motherboards that could have come with your PC. E1P04AV http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx MOTHERBOARD UMA HM87 MOTHERBOARD UMA HM87 W8STD MOTHERBOARD UMA HM87 W8PRO The only difference in those motherboards is what operating system they came with (none, W8 Standard, or W8 Professional). You may be able to manually update the W10 Intel graphics driver from Intel as follows... Read the reply marked solved, and use this graphics driver I posted below this forum discussion, because the Intel graphics driver David posted is for the newer generation core processors and Intel graphics. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Intel-grafic-driver-too-old/m-p... https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26682/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40-?product=814... I have noticed that HP does not regularly update the drivers for their consumer class PC's. I have rarely if ever, seen them update drivers on models more than 3 years old--especially the graphics drivers.

I have this big issue with my HP Envy 17t Notebook PC. Its default video graphics card is Intel HD 4600 but i noticed from the HP website that it also comes with an Nvidia graphics card, which I have downloaded. Installing this downloaded Nvidia graphics card, I always get this message: "NVIDIA installer cannot continue. This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware." I'm an Architect and cannot run all my programs on Intel HD 4600 card alone. I need a better video graphics card, which is why I prefer using the Nvidia card! I'll be glad if someone can help me on ways to solve this issue ("NVIDIA installer cannot continue. This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware") as soon as possible! Best regards!!

We need your exact model number. The switchable graphics on machines that originally came with Windows 7/8/8.1 has trouble making the transition to Windows 10...driver issues. And you do not want to install the driver from the nVidia site as if it is a standalone nVidia video card. You need to use the HP driver designed to drive both the Intel and the nVidia.  I had an Envy 17t-j029nr with Intel 4600 and nVidia 750M and on Windows 8.1 the switchable graphics worked fine. You do have to enable it on a program by program basis through the nVidia control panel.  If you intend to use the laptop for production type CAD work I strongly suggest you roll it back to the original factgory OS and video drivers as currently updated through the HP Support Assistant.

Had an AMD HP G62-227CL laptop that overheated and required motherboard replacement with similar Intel motherboard. Old board clocked at 2.2 MHZ .. new one is 2.0 MHZ.
Board I got from Ebay works but now computer believes that it is a Compaq CQ42 Laptop. Do not know the model number, which I would need on HPs site to download BIOs upgrades.

Is there a way to tell which bios I need or what model I now have?

Thank you,

Steve

A:Replaced Failed Motherboard.. now how do I determine model number and which BIOS to download?

Finding a bios update rather then the one hp would give for this board. Would be next to none.
You could check a few of the support pages for this model. Which their are a lot Of
Maybe find out the motherboard you have bought.

Failed to find driver for ‘Video Controller’, Dell Optiplex 280 model -Win 7 ultimate 32-bit
Error message (when attempting to play Chess or any other games that came with windows); “Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow performance. Make sure you have the latest video card drivers installed.”
It has been over 3 months since I have been looking for a solution. About a year ago, I moved from XP to Window 7 ultimate and everything worked nicely. Then I run into a problem which I had to reinstall windows again. I did and everything worked fine except that I can’t play any games. Device manager shows ‘video controller’ driver is missing. So I tried to update the driver, the system couldn’t find it. I went to the dell site and there isn’t anything for my system for window 7. The only driver I can find was for window vista. I tried that didn’t seem to be compatible. So far I have tried pretty much everything that has been suggested on sites I came across except updating the driver through windows update which isn’t feasible given the type of connection I have.
Mind you, I don’t have high speed. I use CDMA and the speed I get is nothing more than dial up. You have no idea how long it takes to create an account on here and post this. I tried to google patiently but no luck. I noticed that there are also other people who are having the same problem but as I said earlier I have attempted whatever I can.

A:Failed to find driver for ‘Video Controller’, Dell Optiplex 280 model -Win 7 ultimate

The Dell OptiPlex GX280 desktop is a very old model and only has driver support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
It does not have driver support for Windows Vista or Windows 7.

It has 4 slots and supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM.
If you're going to run Windows Vista or Windows 7 in it, you need to add at least another 1 GB to the 1 GB that's currently in it.
Here is the recommended 2 GB(1 GB x2) kit for it.

The only way that you're likely going to resolve the display issue is to install a video card that supports Windows 7.

I own a Dell laptop, named Inspiron 15 7000 gaming (Inspiron 7577). Specs are: Win10 64bit, i7 7700HQ, 16gb Ram, GTX 1060 6GB with "Max-Q Design" The laptop had already installed nvidia driver Version 382.78. from dell. I crosschecked this with the official dell support side and it showed me no newer Version. I also used geforce expierence and it showed me a newer driver version - 385.69. Next i clicked on download and wanted to update but then following message popped up:
"This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"I also tried it with a direct download from the nv website under notebooks driver section for the 1060 Series and got the same error message. After this I checked the driver package of 385.69 and the inf. Files. Under [Strings] it shows only this cards:

Since I have a clean installation of Windows 7, it no longer shows me my Acer specs in Control Panel\System and Security\System, can I get it back some how? Something to do with my drivers not being signed? Or something?

A:Control Panel\System and Security\System BIOS Version\Model?

A clean install wipes out any manufacturer installed software that contains your computer information. (The same thing happened when I did a clean install on my Sony Vaio.) Unless you still have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive (or recovery disks) that can return your Acer to original factory specs, I'm not aware of anything that can get that data to show up on the System dialog box. However, there are free 3rd party utilities like Speccy that can provide all the Acer data and then some, like real time monitoring of temperatures, hardware serial numbers, etc.

A:[SOLVED] Change System Manufacturer/Model in dxdiag. wei. and system.

If it's home built system it won't give name of model or manufacturer, and in any case it doesn't make even a tiny bit of difference to your computer's performance so why are you bothered about.

C:\WINDOWS\installer\QuickTime.msi

And here's the second one:

Error 1603 - Fatal error during installation. Check Windows installer (msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.

Where do I begin? Where should I go to get this info? I'd appreciate your help. Thank you.

NSIS Error Installer verification failed.
This could be the result of an incomplete download, a falling disk, or (possibly) corruption from a virus.
You can try to force an install using the /NCRC command line switch (but it is not recommended.)

So my friend's computer tried downloading Service Pack 1 and it failed during the process and now every time Vista loads to start up it goes right to a blue screen. And when I put in a CD/DVD it will show the black screen and load the CD/DVD but after it loads it goes straight to the boot process. Even after I disabled the HDD from being loaded in the bios. Also, there is no option to run under safe mode. Just setup, system recovery, and boot process pop up before Vista starts to load. I should also mention that nothing other than setup will actually do anything.
