Q: Wifi drops after loading one page and other problems when Wi...

Hi, I have a HP Envy 15 with Windows 10. All works well, but not the wifi... It is really terrible. I must admit; the internet here is not very good (Thailand, Vietnam, China and more countries in this region coming), but I cannot load a single page sometimes. My wife has an other laptop and when she is connected internet is working like it should; websites are loaded and I can place this post on hp.com. As soon as I connect to the network her internet drops like crazy! Like my laptop is sucking up all the internet here. I checked everything and nothing really happens on the HP laptop. When first connected it works for 2 seconds after that it is gone again. Wait like 10 minutes and it is up for 2 seconds again. A little while ago we were in Sai gon. In the hotel: Terrible internet and it was really hard for me to connect. My wife didn't had problems. Then we went to a cafe. There it worked fine! And I can tell you that there were a lot more people connected to that single network then in the hotel. We are in Bangkok now. All the problems again, but no cafe around here to flee to. But that is really stupid, because there is internet here and it works "fine" on my wife's laptop. The things I tried: Uninstall the drivers and reinstallCheck for leftover VPN stuff and removed it (needed in China)Checked for malware. One found, not really important, removedNVIDIA showed some stream software. Deinstalled it, just to be sure... And still problemsPowermanagement changed, so that it wouldn't go to sleep or somethingflushdns and all that stuffChecked the adapter settings, all goodChanged the DNS to Google DNS, no change still problems Basicly everything I could think of. This is getting really annoying. We cannot pick our hotel based on wifi routers and stuff that only works for my laptop. It should work in this (Bangkok) network aswell. What can I do? I was also thinking maybe an external wifi adapter through USB might work (don't know if that exists), but why spend money on a 6 month old laptop that has a problem? I hope someone has an anwser.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, Me again. Ok, I'm still networked on the "Netgear MR814V.2 Wireless/Cable/DSL/4-port Router". One computer upstairs and two are downstairs. One is connected to one port in the router and the others our Wireless. Wireless Adpaters are "D-Link 's DWL-G510". I'm having problems on "Myspace" and that's including any... profile and I'm also having connection drops on other websites as well.

I've resetted the ADSL Modem and the Router. I put in the CD and started it up and re-put everything in. The log-in, Account Info. and what not. The connection is still slow. What could be causing this Issues? I don't feel like calling our ISP

Having the same WiFi dropping issues as others here.  HP Trouble-Shooting Options hasn't helped to resolve.  Additionally starting today, when on Facebook, the page drops after about a minute.  I don't know much about computers or operating systems, other than these on-going issues are very frustrating.  P.S.  Just had an HP Survey window pop up as I was typing my post.  Message indicated I should click "Yes" if I wanted to take the survey.  I wanted to take the survey, but there was no visible "Yes" option in the pop-up box for me to click.   Thanks.

My computer always gives me the warning sign that I have limited connection about every ten minutes. I then trouble shoot it with (what else) windows trouble shooter. It fixes it self saying "The default gateway is not available." With the "Fixed" sign to the right. Then 10 mins later its down again. This only happens when I am using the internet not when I'm editing a video or something.

Is this on your home router/gateway, or on public hotspots.

Okay guys I need your help. This pc is not cooperating at all. I posted earlier about replacing hdd to an 80gb., and was unable to get into my add/remove file in the control panel. I then loaded my sp2 cd on that I hadn't done yet, and then was able to get into that file. But theres alot of things not working right....examples:

cannot access windows update
pages are loading very slow--if at all
wild tangent game site--can't access
tech support forum--have to click on it 8-10 times before it loads
*thats just to name a few*

The first couple days after reloading op system it just blew thru everything, but its crippling as time goes on.

I've ran a full system virus scan with AVG 7.0. It found a trogan horse small downloader that it was able to delete, but has made no change in the performance at all. I also have spy sweeper installed, cc cleaner, cleanup, and a windows firewall that came with sp2.

When I click on a page to load and watch the lil progress bar at the bottom of the page, it will just sit there. After anywhere from 1-12 times of clicking on the page it may load, but sometimes won't load at all.

What is going on with this crazy thing?
I'm running xp with sp2

Ive been having problems loading a number of websites on multiple browsers. I can connect to the site, but the pages are not loading correctly. The only things that show up is a white page with text and blue hyperlinks. Restarting, ComboFix, Malwarebytes, clearing the cache, re-installing the browsers, and using System Restore does not work. So far I found problems with Facebook, Steam (steampowered.com), and the malwarebytes website.

There are certain web pages that I"m having problems accessing. This has only happened when I am trying to login to an online account such as a bank. It is a relatively new occurence. The page will seemingly load up fine, but will then turn blank and I will be unable to do anything. I do not know what is causing this. I am wondering if it is a specific operating file that may have gotten deleted when I was trying to rid my system of adware ( I did thid by clearing all of my temporary internet files and everything in the temp folder) I would be grateful for any assistance in identifying the problem, whatever it may be, and repairing it Thank you

A:Problems with Page Loading on IE6 - Please help

Have you tried cleaning your cache and temp files then trying again? Are you using a firewall that could be blocking these sites? Also check Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Security to confirmed you have enabled the use of these sites. Maybe something will work for you.

I'm having problems loading one particular webpage-- http://www.falloutboyrock.com .

I use it nearly every day, and have never had a problem. Yesterday, it worked in the morning but when I got home from work wouldn't load the top half of the page. I have XP and use Firefox as my browser. This is what it looks like right now for me:

I've tried the site on another computer, also using Firefox and XP and it worked fine so I think the issue must be in my settings or something. I'm not sure what could have changed but something must have since it's not working.

I attempted to do a bit of troubleshooting based on what I could find on google. I checked and updated Java, and that didn't make a difference. I also uninstalled and re-installed Flash. Yet again, it didn't work.

Any ideas? The top part of the page is needed to nagivate the rest of the site so it's pretty annoying that it doesn't work.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Hi everyone. I've noticed a problem with my IE browser. First of all, I have Service Pack 1 and not Service Pack 2. I do have all of the critical updates and other updates for my computer except for the latest Service Pack. I am only experiencing this problem with one web page. The web page is http://www.cnet.com. Everytime I go there with Internet Explorer, way over half of the images do not load. I right click on the image place holder and click Show Image to try and get the image to reload but it refuses to load the images no matter what I do. It's been doing this for over a month and I have no idea why. Also, I have tried clearing all of my temporary files, Internet Cache, and Cookies but the problem still occurs. Also, I don't have any spyware. I scan daily with an updated version of Webroot Spysweeper and weekly with Spybot Search and Destroy, and Adaware. Any advice?

I work tech support at a small ISP. We still have a lot of dial-up customers and came across an interesting situation this week. One customer has been using dial-up happily with Windows XP for years. Her hard drive bit the dust and she got a new Windows 7 computer. Page loading is now much, MUCH slower. Her connection speed is still great for dial-up (50K) and our logs aren't showing any disconnects due to problems in phone service. But pages that used to load in under a minute now take 10 minutes to load if they finish at all. The computer has an LSI PCI v.92 Soft Modem, driver version 2.2.98 (that's an Agere chipset).

Don't know if anyone here can help, but I thought this was an interesting point to bring up: this can't be an issue with her phone lines or the number she's connecting to. Her old computer connected just fine, and for a dial-up connection it brought up pages quickly. She now has a brand new computer with a functioning software modem, but page loading speed is much worse than with WinXP. Does anybody know what could be causing this problem?

A:Page loading problems with dial-up

Since XP at least, the TCP/IP settings have been automatic. When I still had dialup with XP, I found that setting those manually seemed to speed things up considerably.

Since I use Windows 7 Manager now (and XP Manager before) to tweak those settings and turn off automatic discovery, I'm no longer sure where to try that in the registry. Maybe we could both look around. But setting the MTU to an efficient value always makes things work better.

I have Vista now and an unusual internet connection by radio antenna. All my tests show packet fragmentation with an MTU above 1480. But at 1480 I get the max advertized speed for the connection.

Here is an easy methd using ping to determine at what level fragmentation begins:

How To Determine Your Max MTU.

You could try setting the value you obtain manually using this TCP/IP tweaker:

That same site also has a TCP/IP analyzer that may show something interesting.

There seems to me that there is no doubt that Windows prefers LAN over dialup and is optimized for it.

Check other settings, too. Make sure that search for network printers is off in Folder Options. Look for software that may be running updaters in the background. All those things may be unnoticeable on broadband, but really make a difference on dialup.

You could even use something like netstat or Nirsoft's currports to find out what is connecting to the net.

Make sure that the internet cache is not too large. Though it... Read more

For about a week now, some webpages won't load completely for me and I get a "Done" status in the lower left hand corner of my browser before the page actually finishes loading (I usually just see a completely blank page). Also, things like videos won't load for me (youtube remains fine though). It only happens to certain pages (EX: gmail never goes to the inbox, I can't send email from my yahoo acount because the send button does nothing). Often times a page will become completely unresponsive until I refresh and even then sometimes it still doesn't work. I've tried both windows explorer and firefox and get the same problems. I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I'm not quite sure what category this fits in.

So I'm trying to login to Wix.com but whenever I go to the sign in page, the sign in page won't load. I can access Wix.com itself, just not the sign in page.

It doesn't work on different browsers (Chrome and Safari), doesn't work on my phone (either when connected to wifi or when connected to 4G), and it doesn't work on other computers connected to my internet.

Methods of fixing I've tried:
Deleting history, cookies etc.
Uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome
Restarting mac
Shutting down mac

Certain pages, but not others will not finish loading unless I push the Stop button. SOMETIMES, then the page appears automatically (that is what happens when I try to access this site).
THEN if nothing happens after the Stop is pressed, hitting Reload brings the page up.
This DOES NOT happen on all sites - usually happens on this one, Motley Fool, and a couple of others. I have no problem accessing Yahoo or MyYahoo(have several stock portfolios)

Then the same problem occurs after some time. I tried updating all the drivers, as well as the BIOS. I also tried removing the wifi apapter driver through Device Manager and reinstalling but this did not solve the isse. In fact, the wifi seems slower after doing this. As a note, whenever I run a scan using LSC, under WIreless > Local Connection Test, I get a warning sign. I have occasionally had that happen on Firefox and had to completely uninstall it and remove every registry entry to solve it, because I never understood whyit hapened. many spyware programs screw with Excite home page as the" freebies" believe it is spyware, olne of the reasons I stopped using Spybot and Spywareblaster. I never saw it happen in IE, but of course I do not use IE for much of anything.

lately i have been having problems with my win 8.1 computer

page access all of a sudden is extremely slow and pictures on pages take forever to load have had similar problems with pdf files

I month or so ago i thought one of the windows updates for the month was causing the problem and uninstalled it and it seemed to run better following month i think it came back to haunt me but wasn't all that bad i forgot to write down the suspected KB file.

I poked around and some sites referred to a conflict with AVAST i dont use that i use AVG so i uninstalled that. (I also have paidware malwarebytes) after eliminating AVG it seemed to be somewhat better although not really good. I turned on windows defender and now using that.

My Windows updates are up to date

I used to use Secunia PSI to update all my programs including the Adobe flash etc but it doesn't run anymore on this 8.1 upgrade. (yes i have reinstalled and tried)

around the same time i have had trouble with my windows live mail (4 accounts) when it accesses and checks its lightening quick very often it stalls on an account and doesn't access usually i just stop hide and redo and it runs through if it has the same stall, i wait a bit and it goes through. I seem to feel here that its probably a related problem.

Ok. The other day, I recieved a virus that was closing my msconfig and taskmanager every time that I tried to open it. I resolved the problem by deleting the malicious files, but now, I am having a problem with IE 6. For example, a lot of sites, including the Windows Update page will not load. It's just a blank screen and says 'Done' on the bottom. Also, any buttons, like the 'Yahoo Mail' buttons like 'Reply' and 'Delete' do not work. They do work in Netscape though. I was just wondering if any of you knew anything about this or had any suggestions. Thanks for any help.

This is a very weird problem. Starting from three days ago my laptop's wifi capabilities dropped suddenly. I hadn't dropped it or installed anything that could have caused it. I could get no WiFi unless I was in the same room as the router. Meanwhile my phone could get WiFi same as before all around the house.

I tried a system restore, updating everything and things like that. Today I noticed that the WiFi icon would show two bars just as the lid is opened but quickly changes to no signal. I figured out that if I angle the lid below 45 degrees and just before the display turns off, I get great signal strength just as I used to!

Now it is very inconvenient to use the laptop like that which is why I am typing this from my phone. Can you guys help me please I really needed to fill out lots of forms from that machine. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Got a bit of a weird issue here. I've owned my WAG54GX2 for about... 2 years maybe, and I've got no complaints all round. My usage hasnt changed nor any settings within this period.

However... Over the last week, for some reason the WiFi Connection gets destroyed. I've only seen it once at the point where the Wifi Light goes out (something i've never seen before) - but generally the 2 WiFi conencted PC's fail to keep the connection, they drop out, and fail to get an IP, and when they do manage to get 'on' the connection is terrible. In the mean time, I run wired on 2 boxes that have no noticeable issues at all. Its like the WiFi just gets totally jammed up.

I've tried my hardest to establish what has changed, what is new, whats different at night, and theres just nothing.

Turning off the router and back on seems to have no effect either.

I've attached some logs, I dont know what 99% of it means. But thought maybe someone here could shed some info by translating them.

the Anisdktool seems to be started a lot? normal?

and wns msg tcvd: no idea what thats all about?

ring full looks a bit "** alerting***" but no idea what this is telling me either.

This is super frustrating any insight would be great.

I have a PC that started shutting down (just a cold loss of power) at the windows loading screen. the computer would boot up in "safe mode with networking" but not in "safe mode". I get no error messages, see no blue screen moments before power failure, nothing. I have tried running a OS repair by booting from a XP CD and using the repair console(i guess that might be better called the disk check, dskchk /r), repairing the OS by booting from the XP CD and choosing to repair the windows installation instead of overwriting the existing install. when i tried to repair it the second time the system again drops power at one point in the repair. after that happened a few times i just formated the hard drive and reinstalled clean, or i tried too. In the middle of the reinstall right after i enter the owner name, aria code, and windows product key, power failure again. I have tried replacing the power supply with a known good PS, removing the PCI-E video and running on the on-board(which was never used just in favor of the PCI-E card), removed all other peripherals but the CD drive and hard drive with no change. Even replaced the RAM with still no change. There is no time frame involved in the power failure, it can set at one point for hours with no problem or be logged into "safe mode with networking" and used for long stretches of time with no power loss.

I am going to try using a different hard drive (the thought just hit me when i saw a ol... Read more

My wifi driver disappears from my HP Envy laptop. The driver is a Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adaptor. Prior to and after upgrading the operating system to Windws 10, the computer would not display the Qualcommm upon startup. Rather, the computer would not detect any wifi capaility and any troubleshooting information provided was to plug in a cable for internet. Searching for the Qualcomm doesn't help. For the last 4 startups the Qualcom has not reappeared. We ethen removed the Windows 10 operating system and reverted back to Windows 8.1, Th e qualcomm and wifi appeared briefly, but the computer froze and now, following 4 start-ups it does not reappear. In rder to post this question, I've had t plug the computer in. Please advise.

Hey All, new to the forum, thanks for the replies in advance, and I'm sorry if I'm not explaining it in the correct terms.

My issue seems to be with my computer. Often, when I am connected to my WiFi router, my internet service, and subsequent connection to the network, drops inexplicably. My computer will claim it is no longer connected. When I attempt to reconnect, the computer claims it cannot. The troubleshooter also cannot find an issue. All the while, other devices and computers on the network will be perfectly connected without interruption. The only way to fix this is to actually go to the router, reset it, and wait. This can happen within 5 minute of being reset, 20 minute, an hour, or sometimes, days go by without it being an issue. No rhyme. No reason. (That I can find)

Other times, my network, will just...slow down. I'll see the connection drop from full signal to 4 bars. If I catch it then, I can run the troubleshooter and everything will be restored (although the message the computer returns is that there was no problem found). Either this, or if I turn off my wifi, then turn it back on, reconnect to my network, boom, speed restored!

This is driving me insane. I can't seem to fix it. Any help is appreciated, as I am quite tired of having to march across the room 3-6 times every day to reset this. Thanks!

My WIFI will just randomly drop, and has that yellow triangle. The internet will be slow, or sometimes no internet at all. It just randomly drops there is no specific times it turns off. I have tried a bunch of ways to fix it, and no luck. I have downgraded drivers and nothing works. I have updated drivers and nothing works. I did hear something about the Windows 10 update that messed up the internet, but I've had it updated and nothing is working. I appreciate the help. Thank you.

I Have had this problem since upgrading to windows 7 /64

When i type using keyboard for whatever reason the internet wifi drops. I am using a TP link unit. It is more apparent when i am typing emails in windows live mail.

Is this a problem that anyone has experienced. I have switched from wireless keyboard to wired. What actually happens is even offline the keyboard itself drops out, i start receiving a note/tone each time i press the keyboard buttons when it has dropped out. When online if the keyboard drops out the wireless drops with it.

I have to kick in the keyboard again by using the mouse to click the screen. The mouse also drops out when scrolling using the
wheel. again i have to click the screen to reinstate

It has dropped six times typing this note.

I assume there is a little USB connected radio ("dongle") that communicates with the wireless keyboard. When you switched keyboards did you also disconnect the "dongle"?

Hey guys in the last day or so, my Technicolor TG587n v3 modem's wifi disconnects and then restarts whenever I reboot my galaxy S4, wired internet stays connected but wifi turns off, any ideas?

A:Modem drops wifi

Okay. Who is your ISP. There has been known issues for that model. That is why most go with their own equipment for Internet. Too many issues with the all-in-one gateways.

You could just turn off the onboard wifi, and use a Wireless Access Point instead. I use the Engenius ECB-350 for my network. Never have had any issues with it. I can pick it up to 75' from my house.

I recently purchased a LG Optimus P500h with Android 2.2. I have a problem with its wifi. At home I have Dlink router DIR-825. My laptop and desktop are working good on this network. But this phone keeps dropping the connection, and starts scaning again and again for no reason. The phone can see the wifi, and is able to connect to it, but drops it after a few seconds. In order to pinpoint the problem, I tried connecting my phone to the public library's wifi, and it worked.

Thanks for your help in advance.

So yeah, silly me Installed windows 10 anniversary update (i could have chose not to) and now i keep getting disconnecting from my wifi every 2-10 mins. It was working perfectly before it. And I tried everything, believe me. Rolling back to previous build (this had to work :/), turning off power saving mode on my network adapter, reinstalling it, downloading new drivers from Asus website, I've also tried winsock reset, dns flush, ip config release etc. Also turning off my firewall, disabling realtek ethernet adapter, antivirus haven't helped me at all. And yeah I can access my internet with ethernet cable and other devices are working without problems. I also tried an external wifi adapter and had the same problem.
Funny thing is I can still access ipv6 websites after it gets disconnected, it has something to do with DNS. (Yes I also tried putting Google DNS servers). The only thing that I haven't tried is installing wifi drivers that I have on my asus disk that came with loptop (will do it later today)
If you're interested here's my network adapter: mediatek mt7630e
Help will be appreciated, thank you in advance.

Hello. I have been having some recurring problems while web browsing. IE/Firefox become unresponsive a lot. When clicking on different web pages, for a few seconds between pages, images and graphics from pages viewed many pages ago will pop up and disappear. This usually is accompanied by the browers becoming unresponsive. Also, just lately youtube videos either will not load at all or will be extrememly choppy because the download will hang. I have run quick and full scans with Microsoft Security Essentials and nothing has been detected. Here are the logs instructed to post. I have Windows Vista 64 bit so I did not include that last log. Win7 home 64bit on Gateway laptop.
My laptop Wifi keeps dropping.
InSSider shows the beacon signal strength of my router, -25dB; well above other networks near me, at -80dB.
My router is the only broadcaster on its channel.
InSSider shows receiving the signal at -25 dB, but then drops down to -95dB (which is complete loss) then back up. It may be up for three or four seconds or only a second before dropping. The up/down is continuous.
Control panel shows no warnings. Everything is installed correctly.
I power cycled the router as well as the modem, uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers for the wifi adapter. Installed newer wifi drivers.
I changed channels on the router.
Changed authentication type, then back to WPA2.
ipconfig release all /renew
SSID is not hidden.
Replaced the router and tried everything again.
--signal still up then down then up/down--changing routers gives same results.

Connectivity is constant with Ethernet (non-wireless) connection.

Last night, between 12 a.m and 6 a.m. the wifi signal was steady. No drop out at all. But after 6 the connection is never up for more than a few seconds before going down.
Unable to locate any potential interference--appliances that may have been off during the solid time.
On a different computer, the local network and wifi has good connectivity. InSSider shows the signal coming from the router to be steady, no drop out.

Any ideas?

Here is a screen shot of what InSSider shows. My wireless router connectivity is the red ... Read more

This problem is frustrating me a lot now. After upgrading to WIndows 10, I have noticed that my Wi-Fi connection frequently drops without any pattern whatsover. It just drops randomly and re-connects after 2-3 minutes. If I attempt to connect to the network in that period of 2-3 minutes, it will sometimes connect, and sometimes fail. I have 2 other laptops (1 of which has Windows 10) and they don't experience this problem.

I have searched online and tried tons of things. Nothing has fixed the problem so far! Below are all the things I tried. Please help if you have any suggestions or if there are known issues with Windows 10.

1. Updated the driver software
2. Uninstalled the driver and re-installed it
3. Unchecked the setting of 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' in Power Management of the wireless network adapter.
4. Uninstalled anti-virus to eliminate anti-virus as the issue.
5. Disabled 'Wifi Sense' options of 'Connect to suggested hotspots' & 'Connect to networks shared by my contacts'.

I am clueless as to what the issue is. Please help!

Hope someone can help with this!

I've recently got a new modem/router hub and when I try to connect to it wirelessly, it'll connect, but then my computer will drop the connection and won't get it back until I restart. I'm certain it's a computer problem and not a router or modem problem since my mother's netbook can connect and stay connected for hours. The router is in my living room and it doesn't matter where my computer is, whether it's in the living room too, or in my own room, the connection will still drop. When I open up "Connect to a network" in Vista, there are absolutely no networks in the list, even though I know there are plenty in my apartment block. The wifi switch is on, and the list only refreshes when I restart. The connection can drop at any time, whether it's 5 seconds after I've connected, or 30 minutes, but it does it a lot and it's becoming infuriating. I hope someone can help with this because it's driving me nuts already!

Any advice will be very much appreciated and if there's any specs that need to be supplied, I can definitely do that.

Thanks in advance!

Hey,Ever since I've had my laptop (6 months) I've had this persistent problem with wifi connectivity. I rarely use my laptop but more recently have come into need of it, so it is getting increasingly frustrating. What happens is, every two minutes the wifi drops. I have to drop into network settings and disable the dual processor I think it is (AC 165)?? Anyway, I was hoping I can be given some guidance as I am on the verge of returning and getting money back for a faulty product. Seems this is a common problem and not sure if I ever trust myself to go with HP again.

This problem usually occurs because your router is set to use a wireless channel that is overloaded by your neighbors WIFI connection.

It's best to scan the networks in your area then choose a channel that is furthest away from the ones your neighbors are using. Xirrus WIFI scanner works well for this. You can post the results here if you still aren't sure which channel to choose.
