time sync issues

Q: time sync issues

Good morning everyone,

the following happens at a gas station, where the hour shown on the surveillance camera's
don' t correlate with the hour shown on the back-office computer' s event manager.
There are 3 minutes of difference between both. In my logic, we should be able to sync
the time on both units but we are being told this is not possible. Any opinions/ suggestions here?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It's critical that my PC keeps the exact time as I record TV shows on it so just a few seconds off one way or the other will make me miss the start or end of my shows.

I found it was drifting off too much between syncs so I found a program that lets me set it to sync daily, however it seems like most of the time it gets the time completely wrong, often as much as 30-90 seconds off. I did notice that when syncing manually in the time settings it normally gets the right time each time, so I don't know why the scheduled syncs get the wrong time.

I did try several of the time servers with the same results.

Is there just no way to get the Windows time sync to work properly and if not are there free third party programs that can do it reliably?

My Win time is correct with my Atomic clock, but the taskbar time lags...-

I have tried different time services, and they are the same.

Please before you reply to this- verify that your taskbar minute is changing at the same time as the win clock (click on the taskbar time/date...).

A:Taskbar time out of sync with Windows time?

That is odd, I just turn around and compare my taskbar clock with my didgital clock plugged into the wall, and of course it`s always perfect.

Is your taskbar minute changing every 60 seconds like it`s supposed to ?

You`ve already done all the things you can check, so really not sure of the issue.

Im in vista 64 bit. I was trying to install a licence for Cubase and was getting a time, calendar error. I look and everything is on time to the second hand on my wall.

But for the hell of it, I tryed syncing it to all the availible servers but got:

"An error occured while Windows was synchronizing with whatever.server"

However I can ping the servers in comand prompt. And also, like the topic says, It still keeps perfect time. It set it's own time. So Im clueless. A bios thing perhaps?

Any suggestions appreciated

Ocassionally it does work to sync. the time, but most of the time it times out.

What could cause this ?

I know my internet is working when I check it.

Is there something in the Windows XP Firewall causing the Time sync. to time out ? If so what do I check in firewall for exception for Time Sync. to work ?

My computer is off most of the time, so the date & time are never right unless I remember to sync them with an outside source. Is there some way to re-sync at power on, or to prompt for re-sync at start up?

A:Time Sync @ Pwr On

According to my notes on the subject, run regedit and navigate to:

and change the value of SpecialPollInterval to 15180 to change the frequency of updates to once each day.

That might help since the default frequency is once a week.

You might also look at a program called About Time from arachnoid dot com. Best I recall it not only updates at interval, which you set, but it will also update when you log in.

One or the other should help.

I have an issue that has been going on for months. I'm getting tired of it.

My PC time is always (about ~85% of the time) wrong by hours ( slower ).
The only way to get it back in-sync is when i click on 'Update Now' under Internet Time Settings. But that doesn't always help. Sometimes, i'll persistently get some sort of errors when trying to update the time.

Here's what i have done:
Checked BIOS time and made sure it's right
Changed from time.windows.com to something else but that doesn't fix
Format my PC ( clean format ) but it's still happening

Need some expert assistance in this. And oh, by the way, i have no firewall except for the default one that came with windows.
Thanks !

I recently installed a new battery on my motherboard so as to sync up with an internet or government time server. The way this is supposed to work is to have the server update your computer clock on a regular basis. So, I have chosen the server I wish my
computer to sync with in tclockex. But something is causing  the correct date and time to revert to default date and time which causes errors on the internet, rendering it useless and making me reset the clock manually every morning.
Once set, the clock remains correct throughout the day. But something is screwing with it during the night.
Could it be a virus? Could it be a setting? What can be causing this?

I did do searches on this, and I have tried a wide range of url's and none of them work, I always get the same error, I tried that dos promt that I found.

I think it has to do with the BIOs, and let me tell you why.

I decided to put on a new thermal paste on my cpu because I was having overheating issues, and I had to remove the entire mobo to get the heatsink thingy on the bottom. so I could of nicked something or forgot to plug something back in. Here is the reason I think it's the bios. When I booted up, I would automatically go tot he bios with a error saying Chassis opened or tempered with. The only way for me to get past that was to pull the reset pin thingy for the cmos, and I would get into windows once, and even then when I would reboot the error came back, I found out how to fix the error by disabling the open case warning in the BIOs. But ever since I booted up after doing the heatsink and paste thing, weird crap is not working. I can't sync the time, can't play games that require the time to be synced which is very annoying, can't log into msn messenger, can log into aim, but if I try to start a convo it crashes. meebo works fine for me. Security settings on fire fox keep reseting, and I keep having to accept security certificates from google.

Could the battery need replacing?

Thanks in advance

I use Vista x64

ok, I found the guide you guys had on here, and found a 3rd party program linked in the comments at the bottom, and that fixed the game, time, msn and aim problems.

Ok so the short story is I installed a network, but then they had some people that are closer screw it up (story of m life some days).
They have a remote office and apparently bought a server for this office so they can sync the SQL database between the 2. However they never got it to work.
I looking for some how to or some information on how to accomplish this. I found out about mirroring but it was described as use for a fail over. I also found replicating but it seemed like it was a 1 way transfer.
Im looking for a way to sync 2 live databases in near if not in real time.

If you can give me any pointers as to what Im looking for b/c I feel like in my googleing Im not using the right terms.

Any help would be helpful. Please.

also realize this might be the wrong place for this but if somebody can move it to where it should be that would be great. I didn't see any where that listed SQL or databases.

Does anyone know how I can sync Windows time to the global time for my timezone?

I had to manually set the time in BIOS the first time I installed this motherboard from 9/19/2008, and I never had to do that.

Also I had to install NIC drivers from the disk... again I haven't had to do that for a long time. I guess Vista didn't have Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) NIC drivers integrated into the OS?

Hello Firestrider,

This tutorial will help show you how to do Internet Time Synchronization.

Yeah, sometimes you will find that Vista does not have default drivers for newer devices, and you will need to install them first. That's why I would always recommend having all of the devices driver installation files handy on DVD or USB key to make it easier.

OK this has been an issue on my laptop for awhile and I guess only now am I getting around to figuring it out.
Whenever I try to auto sync the time on my computer, no matter which server I choose from the drop down bar, it gives me

An error occurred getting the status of the last synchronization. The RPC server is unavailable.

This is a home computer, and has been an issue connecting from several places on several networks. I tried turning the firewall off but that didn't do it.
I read up a little on various forums about this problem, and from what I could pick out that I could understand (I'd say I'm somewhere between Beginner and Intermediately computer savvy) there have been issues with Windows Time in the Services menu. I went into there to check that out (it was my first time in the Services menu) and lo and behold, no Windows Time on the list. Several other Windows XXXXX, but no Windows Time. Might this be a problem?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

I have had a problem with my Windows Time service for quite some months now, searched almost every possible solution I could find but I feel like I'm just going on a road that goes nowhere.

The problem:
My time seems to be perfectly okay and the date and time is all accurate, yet trying to sync to time.windows.com does not work. It either tells me the access is denied or I get a 1290 SID error.

I tried pretty much all the solutions in this post here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...c-397d417f5275

But no matter what I do, or in which order I do it. I either end up with "access denied'' or error 1290 whenever I try to sync to a windows time server. I've also done a sfc scannow command and it told me nothing was wrong. My BIOS was also updated today.

If anybody has any solutions I'd be happy to hear them, thanks in advance!

Time is consistently slow anywhere from 3-25 mins.
Steps I've taken
Changed the sync local from windows to nist gov(and every other option).
Verified correct time zone/region.
Unregistered and re-registered w32tm.
Created a task that first runs windows time then runs sync and repeats the process every ten minutes.
Checked time in command prompt against system time(cmos check) matched.
Replaced the cmos battery anyway.
Clean install of Win 10.
Updated every driver verified no yellow? in device manager.
I can manually fix the issue but I paid for windows and don't see why something as simple as a clock should require my attention on a daily(hourly) basis.
I've put a lot of money into this PC and it may be petty but it drives me bat**** every time I look at the time and it's off by 2 mins to 3 hrs.
I consider myself pretty windows savvy and am at wits end, any solution to the problem will be met with the warmest of welcomes.

Hey all,

Oddly enough, I have three customers with the same problem. Now I normally have no problems with this but for some reason Im stuck. I can't seem to get the time to properly sync up. This is what I have done so far.

1. I went in and changed the time server to time-a.nist.gov. Now I plan on changing this to something closer for each of them. Then I tried to update the time but it was not correct.

2. Then I went and made a registry change at this key:

Changing the value so it would update once a day.

3. Two of my customers, I was able to verify their firewalls were not blocking port 123.

So I'm stuck. Short of changing their time servers to something local and close to them. Is there any other tips I can try to get the time corrrected and updated right away. All three of them are on VIsta. One using Norton, comodo, and Mcafee.

I have an HP Pavilion laptop running Windows XP Pro SP3 that has a dead CMOS battery so every time I leave it unplugged for a bit (the battery is also dead) the time/date resets to factory defaults (Jan, 2006).

I didn't think this would be an issue as w32tm service should automatically should sync with either time.windows.com or time.nist.gov, right? Problem is, it doesn't, and won't even let me do it manually.
Things I have tried (through command prompt):

net stop w32time && net start w32time
w32tm /resync

when that didn't work:

w32tm /config /update /manualpeerlist:time.nist.gov /syncfromflags:manual
net stop w32time && net start w32time

That command will go through with no problems but then when I try and resync it says:

"The computer did not resync because no time data was available."

So I tried using a different time server that I found online and I got the same thing.

I really wanted to write a batch script to run on log in that would synch my time up but I can't get anything to work!!
