Network adapter not recognized after win7 install. Lenovo T430

Q: Network adapter not recognized after win7 install. Lenovo T430

Lenovo T430 running win7 home premium 64bit.

Wife purchased new in 2013 and it has been problematic almost from the get-go. The machine was very slow to operate, slow to execute various mouse commands and such. The machine had some sort of warning message pop up in constantly the lower left corner that said something to the effect of the back-up section of the drive was full and needed addressed. It would not allow any modification to the drive(s), the files, or the partitions via the OS tools.

Wife got frustrated with it and took it into the local computer repair place to have it fixed. They 'cleaned it up', saying it 'should run faster now', but the error message was not eliminated and the machine ran only marginally faster.

Wife purchased a new laptop and now I have the Lenovo. I used it for a month before becoming completley frustrated with it. I tried some things like scaning for viruses, malware etc but found little to nothing in that regard. The slowness kept getting worse and worse to the point that the machine was pretty much unusable.

In a fit of frustration and short of just throwing the thing away, I formated the drive using Darik's Boot and Nuke. Then installed a full version of Vista, then an upgrade version of win7 home premium. These two installs seem to go ok and the machine is booting up fine in win7. The error message is gone, as is the slowness as near as I can tell.

I managed to get the wireless printer installed ok but the network device is not being found/recognized. The error message reads "No connection available. Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to install the driver". It would not work on either our wireless system or using a network cable directly from the router. When I plug the rj45 into the laptop both the green light and the blinking amber light are lite.

I can't find the original build documents so I don't know what type of device is in there. I hooked up a usb wireless device and it connected right away. On the Lenovo site I found the following potential options for the network adapter on the T430:
Qualcomm? Gobi? 4000 LTE Sierra Wireless MC7750 LTE/EV-DO WWAN Minicard
Qualcomm? Gobi? 4000 LTE Sierra Wireless MC7700 LTE/HSPA WWAN Minicard
ThinkPad 1x1 b/g/n
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200 (2x2 BGN)
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN
Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN
ThinkPad T430 Laptop | Lenovo US
Also on the Lenovo site I found a boat load of drivers and such but I don't know where to start.
Laptops and netbooks :: ThinkPad T Series laptops :: ThinkPad T430 - Lenovo Support (US)
I tried using Belarc Advisor to determine the network adapter but it just shows the USB adapter I'm temporarily using to get online.
I'm used to Dell products where I can go to a website and put in the serial number and find the specifics on the configuration when it left the factory. I haven't been able to find a similar site for Lenovo?
Notes:
I have done all the required windows updates.
It looks like there is a later version of the bios available on that lenovo site:
current bios = UEFI version 1.16, 2012-05-25.
available on website = version 2.66, 9-19-14.
I thought maybe I could just pull the bottom off the laptop and maybe the adapter would be exposed and labeled enough that I could tell what it is, but that looks a bit involved with this model.

Any input on how I can resolve the network adapter issue would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello, all. The hdd on my Dell XPS recently failed, and, not being a smart person, I did not create a backup. I reinstalled Windows 7 onto the machine, and it installed and boots correctly. When I attempt to connect to the internet, Network Diagnostics gives the following error:

Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver.

So I attempted to install the drivers with ProWin64. This gives the following error:

Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer.

The adapter is listed under 'Other devices' in my device manager, with a yellow triangle. My Ethernet controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, SM Bus Controller, USB Controller, and another Unknown device also have the same problem, but I'm not as worried about those. The hardware IDs given for the device are as follows:

PSI\VEN_8086&DEV_0091&SUBSYS_52218086&REV_34
PSI\VEN_8086&DEV_0091&SUBSYS_52218086
PSI\VEN_8086&DEV_0091&CC_028000
PSI\VEN_8086&DEV_0091&CC_0280

However, I have no idea what to do with this information. What's my next step here?

Hi,

I decided to do a clean install of my Windows 7 Ultimate on my PC (not a brand model, but one that was assembled together in-store). While everything worked fine before the install (it was slow, hence the clean install), the installation went well except that the network adapter cannot be recognised at all now.

It's not just a matter of installing drivers, because I did that (downloaded them on the laptop and copied them over), but rather that it seems as if the network adapter is physically not present, yet it is and was working fine before the clean install.

I have searched and Googled for hours and tried various "solutions", but nothing has solved the problem.
I tried installing new drivers, that didn't work. I tried going into "Change adapter settings", but there are none. I looked through the BIOS but found no solution there. I even went as far as to reinstall Windows, but with no luck either.

What could the issue be and how can it be resolved, without me having to take the machine in to an IT store and have them waste my time and money or try and convince me that I need a new network adapter and/or new motherboard?

Any useful help will be kindly appreciated.

Regards.

Hello,I've spent literally days searching for a solution to this problem.Eventually I gave up - posting my first message here with hope that someone will help. Those who have encountered a similar issue may already know that Lenovo has whitelisted product restrictions in place.I bought my Lenovo T430 from an auction (third-party seller). Everything was working fine, even the wireless network card Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205.Then I decided to reinstall the system and bring everything back to the factory settings (my bad). This is where I came across the error:"1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card."Well initally I thought that there were still some drivers missing. I disabled the security boot in BIOS, rebooted the system, connected to the internet via my wired LAN (the wifi network card wasn't recognized under the Device Manager, not even the classic yellow question mark). I've done all the Windows updates. Also all the applicable Lenovo Thinkvanatge updates incuding the latest BIOS.Then I enabled the secure boot again and got the same error message "Unauthorized network card is plugged in".Now I basically function only by using my wired LAN adapter.I probably haven't posted nothing new.The advice would be - "get the Lenovo recognized compatible wireless card.Find the proper FRU and FCC ID combination for your specific model".Frankly I am willing to pay for the proper wireless card! But it's so tough to find al... Sound was working when I went to bed, in the morning it wasn't.  Popup on speaker icon in system tray says "no audio output device is installed." Updated all drivers using iObit Driver scanner.  When that didn't find an audio adapter I rand the driver scanner on the Lenovo support site and it said no new drivers were needed.  Ran recovery from the startup and chose option to completely wipe the hard drive, files, progrmas etc. and install Windows 10 to factory settings - still no sound adapter. Saw a similar forum post with a link to a Reatek driver so installed it - no change.  Also followed instructions to uninstall sound in device manager but it wasn't there to uninstall. Ran Lenovo diagnostics from support site and it says there are no hardware problems and it sees sound adapter. I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

Hi

I have a LINKSYS wusb54gs with Speed Booster .I was connected to the internet when I suddenly lost connection. Device Manager showed a problem (! mark). Troubleshooting suggested that I uninstall and reinstall driver this did not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software. I tried to update drivers but it would not update saying there was a name or service with that name. Linkskys sent a registry cleaner as they said that was the problem.

When I tried to reinstall after using the cleaning program, Windows did not recognize the device. The error message read A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware may not work properly. I tried it on another computer which recognized it!

I brought it in to the computer shop. They confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the hardware and think that it might be a software/port problem. They said they have never run into this problem before and they might have to reinstall my XPPro. :-(

Does anyone have any suggestion that they might try. I would hate going through the reinstalling process. :-(

Thank you!!!

I've been dealing with this issue off and on for a while so I'm hoping somebody knows how to fix this! I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z575. I recently installed a clean copy of Win7 Home premium 64 bit and was able to update all drivers except for the wireless lan one which I downloaded from the Lenovo site. There are no warning/caution symbols in the device manager except for bluetooth.

The problem I have is twofold. First I have been experiencing intermittent connectivity with the wireless connection itself. In some cases it shows no networks available even though I have a phone, other computer, roku, etc that are all connected to the network no problem. Disabling and re-enabling the device through adapter properties will usually "fix" it so that I can connect but it's really annoying. I had disabled the power saving option and that didn't seem to help any.

The more pressing issue now is that I can't even update the driver because I get an error that says "Driver install/uninstall need your Wireless Adapter to be inserted into your PC. Please make sure your Wireless Adapter is in your PC." It's an internal wireless card so I have no idea what the issue is. The available networks icon with the yellow star in the system tray will flash that there is a network available for a few seconds but then it has been changing back to no networks found before I can even connect. The card properties show its a Ralink TEchnology 802.11n wireless card in pci sl... Read more

Quick update -

After searching around online it sounds like this is a common problem with this laptop/wireless card. I'm not the most knowledgable guy about this stuff, but would upgrading the wireless card fix the problem? I'd have to mod the bios too since Lenovo has the black/white list for wireless card but that might be the easiest solution?

Might be related -- with VMWARE the NAT service doesn't work properly -- but you can use BRIDGED which gets round the problem. No good however if you only get a single fixed IP address however as BRIDGED will use another "Real" IP address.

This has been bugging the hell out of me I couldn't figure out why my battery wasn't recharging after I upgraded. I upgraded an old Dell Latitude D520 to windows 7 and at first the battery had a small charge left, but I knew it was at the end of its life anyways so when it didn't recharge again I figured it was just junk. So I just ordered a new battery. That's still not in yet but when I went to my BIOS looking for something else today I noticed the AC Adapter wasn't recognized and it was telling me to plug in the original 65w AC Adapter, however that's the one that is already plugged in. The ac adapter still powers the computer but it won't charge the battery. I'm guessing it has something to do with Windows 7's AC and ACPI adapters but I can't find any other drivers to try anywhere. Anyone have any solutions?

sorry one more thing..the battery isn't just not charging, it is also not recognized so I'd imagine that all the drivers under the Batteries directory in the device manager needs to be replaced...will the old xp drivers work in their place?

A:After clean install of Windows 7 old Dell AC adapter not recognized?

Regardless of OS, if the battery is in need of charging and the AC Adapter is plugged in, the battery shall charge even when the system is off. Therefore, you may check this, and if your system's battery is not charging while the notebook is off, there may be some sort of an issue with either battery or the AC adapter.

Hello,

I have a Tecra Z40-A-11L and I'm using it to develop Android applications, using both GNU/Linux and Windows.

When running AndroidStudio in Ubuntu, I have no problems. When I use it in Win7, I can't get the virtualization to work.

When I try to use an x86 emulator in the AndroidStudio IDE, I get and error saying that I need to install HAXM support and enable VT-x. In the BIOS the VT-x is enabled. I've tried selecting the options of VT-d + VT-x and VT-x only, and in both cases it still doesn't work. I've tried installing HAXM separately using the Intel installer directly and I get a similar error:

"This computer meets the requirements for HAXM, but Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x) is not turned on. HAXM cannot be installed until VT-x is enabled."

As I say, VT-x is enabled in the BIOS, I manage to get virtualization in GNU/Linux, but for some reason Win7 doesn't seem to be able to recognize it..
Does anyone have a similar problem? Is there something I can do to solve this?

Thanks,
Javier

A:Tecra Z40-A-11L - Can't install Intel HAXM - VT-x not recognized in Win7

The CPU supports definitely the VT-X and you said also that this feature is already enabled in BIOS.

Therefore I recommend you to check this:
Turn the whole Hyper-V "Feature" off.
Open "Control Panel -> "Programs" -> "Turn Windows features on or off"
(under "Programs and Features") and locate "Hyper-V"
Now uncheck and reboot the notebook.

Feedback appreciated.

Hello all,

I recently created a Win7 image in VM Workstation 6.5.3. On the host machine (running Windows XP) I was able to access the internet using a NAT connection. Unfortunately, when I migrated the image to my VMWare ESXi Server (3.5.0), it was unable to connect to the internet.

The error message I get is "Windows did not detect a properly installed Network Adapter...". I'm really not sure what could be causing this issue. The Hardware tab in the VM Settings says that Network Adapter 1 exists and is a VM Network. The Device Status Connected checkbox is checked, as is the Connect at power on checkbox. Adapter type is set to flexible.

Does anyone know if there is a hardware compatibility issue for network adapters for Win 7 images on VMWare ESXi or something?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried downloading the storage drivers from the T430 page on this site but Windows installer never recognizes those as signed drivers so it won't take them when trying to install the OS. The built-in WLAN in my laptop stopped working, so I bought a USB WLAN adapter. I quickly realized that Windows 7 does not share wireless network connections between different adapters. So my questions are:

1. Is there a way to make Win7 share wireless connections across adapters?
2. Failing that, is there a way to port connections from one adapter to another?
3. Is there a way to export/import wireless networks to a human-readable file (e.g. XML) for back up and future usage?

Thanks!

A:Win7 wireless adapter and network problems

it should have seen the adapter and worked - the reason it does not - may be why your built in wlan does not work

lets see an ipconfig /all and device manager and xirrus screen shot

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

In the past I've migrated 7 from one hdd to another by doing a backup to a usb drive, then swapping the drives and restoring to the new one.

What I need to do now is a twist on that. My MB is one of the new p67s that has the faulty intel sata ports, and will eventually be recalled. The 4 6Gps sata ports on the board are not affected by the chipset problem, so i plan on just using them instead(plus i just got a 6G seagate drive that I wanted to use anyway).

What I envision happening is restoring to the new drive on an entirely different sata adapter and port #, and the system not booting. I assume i could get around this by booting to a command prompt and using bcedit, but am not 100% on that.

Can someone recommend a good way to do this, or if my idea sounds fine, confirm it?

thanks!

Hello dronf, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

You have left out lots of info that would help answer your question. Is this a Desktop Computer? A laptop?

With my desktop, I use a second hard drive to save an image created by Windows Seven backup utility. When the OS hard drive failed, I just swapped for a new hard drive, booted to my 7 install DVD, and restored the OS to the new hard drive.

You could do something similar and just as easy. You have the choice of saving the image on either the old hard drive or the new hard drive. If you do not have an install DVD, have Windows 7 make you a repair CD for ... Read more

I've freshly installed Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit on my system that previously had Ubuntu installed, and prior to ubuntu had win7 ultimate installed. With the fresh install of win7, I receive an unidentified network/no network access issue.

Heres a list of things ive tried:

- reset the network adapter
- restarted the modem and the router
- messed around with homegroup
- reset tcp/ip
- tried connecting to a specific ip/dns/default gateway (which i retrieved with a laptop)
- ip /release /renew although i wasnt successful

Ive tried almost every single thing I could find on google. Nothing works. I connect fine on ubuntu and I connected fine on ultimate.

I havent tried installing drivers though. Because I cannot access the internet on that machine to install those drivers. Help is much much appreciated as I am tired of ubuntu.

Thanks,

j

Welcome to the forums bietzshe,

I don't know much about 7 Enterprise, but I imagine you would need to install the Lan/Network drivers for your Motherboard.
Is your motherboard the P67 FTW? Do you have a driver CD for it? If not then you will need to head over to EVGA - EVGA Download Center find your motherboard from the drop down list and download and install the Network driver there.

I have a Lenovo Y500 with the following specs: i7-3630QM, 8GB RAM, GT 650M SLI, 1TB HDD, AR5B225 Network adapter.I have 3 questions:1. Will this SSD work in the mSATA slot on the Lenovo Y500?850 EVO Series MZ-M5E250BW 250GBhttps://www.komplett.se/product/838646/datorutrustning/lagring/haarddisk/ssd-msata/samsung-850-evo-2...2. As I have the SLI variant of the laptop, there's obviously a graphics card in my "ultrabay". Can I fit a 2,5" SSD in that ultrabay or would i need to buy a totally different ultrabay that was specifically meant to hold an SSD? If so, where can i find that part?3. With the current AR5B225 network adapter (802.11N) i only get around 9.5 megabyte per second or 75ish megabit per second. Is there any replacement network adapter i could buy with 802.11AC 5GHz? Preferably capable of actual (not theoretical) throughput of about 500 megabit per second? As that's what my accesspoints are capable of.

When I look at the Network Adapters in the "Device Manager", I only see the following:Atheros AR8162/8166/8168 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20) I have downloaded both the LAN as well as WLAN drivers that have been advocated on these forums. However, I can't seem to get WLAN connectivity on my laptop. What am I missing ? I have also tried the BIOS settings to first disable and then enable the Wireless. But that doesn't seems to work either.  From the "Network and Sharing Center", when I clck on the "Set up a new connection or network", I get an option like "Broadband(PPPoE)". And nothing else. Should I not expect a Wireless option here ? --thanksRitesh

A:Can't find a Wireless Network Adapter on my Lenovo G 580

hi riteshgoel,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

There might be three possible problem.

Driver Issue
-If it is a driver problem then you should have a yellow icon in Device Manager saying maybe "Network Controller" or "Unknown Device"

BIOS Wireless LAN is Disabled "Which I think you alreay tried"
  - You can check your BIOS settings, as it has an option to disable the WIFI hardware,
Go to BIOS by tapping F2 or FN+F2 once you power on the system.
Once inside BIOS Go to the "Configuration" tab
Look for "Wireless Lan" and make sure it is enabled.
Then hit F10 on your keyboard to save and exit BIOS.

If those two are not the issue
     - Given that it is not showing any Wireless device or a Yellow icon/Unknown device Under Device Manager " Let me know if there's any".

     - Under BIOS Wireless is Enabled
Then this is most probably a Hardware Problem and should be brought up with Lenovo Technical Support.

Best Regards
Solid Cruver

You'll need a USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet adapter (the Yoga 710 doesn't have USB C support). Here's a good option: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Ethernet-Network-Adapter/dp/B00ET4KHJ2

Today, I booted up my laptop after leaving it in Hibernation for a week. I had forgotten that I had put it into Hibernation when the battery was at 10%, so naturally this meant that the system was now at 0% or 1% so it put itself back into Hibernation quickly after reaching desktop. Programs (particularly, ones that had been using the network) seemed to be operating normally before this emergency Hibernation so I paid no mind to it and just waited until the light indicated there'd be enough battery to properly turn on the laptop. However, upon turning it back on, I found that the laptop couldn't connect to any wireless network and that Control Panel > Network Connections was completely blank. I have since connected the laptop to the internet with a LAN to USB-C adapter, and that connection specifically appears under Network Connections. The Wireless Adapter, however, remains... missing. I'm at a loss of what to do next. Things that I have tried:Settings > Network & Internet Settings > (Network) Troubleshooter-Diagnosis simply tells me that a device lacks drivers but does say how to solve the issue beyond that. Device Manager > Network Adapters-Selected "Update drivers" on each option under Network Adapters, no change.-No /!\ icons were in Network Adapters. I did see some in System Devices (two entries of "Scp Virtual Bus Driver") and one under Universal Serial Bus controllers ("Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"). I try to Up... Hello everybody !

I kinda have a problem as the title states, hope I posted in the right section. My neighbor has a Lenovo G50 she bought and came with windows 8.1 x64 ( which she doesn't like at all and in my opinion win7 is far more superior and simple for her). The thing is I wanted to install her the Windows 7 Ultimate but every-time the " loading files " ends right after it boots from the dvd I get a bsod with the message " The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant Stop 0x000000A5 "
I tried all kind of different settings through the bios, changed from UEFI boot to Legacy / disabled secure boot / fast boot / I set the ACHI to compatible / but the end result is almost the same ( two times with different settings my screen froze with a red line over the top after loading the files )

My question is what the F is the problem and is there a fix for it? (of course it is,but I don't know it )
Thank you

I recently bought a new Lenovo G780, as my old HP laptop failed on me. However, the harddrive from my HP was fine, so when I got the new computer I decided to just take the harddrive out of my HP and put it into my new Lenovo. I've got the drivers for everything else to work, except my wireless network adapter refuses to install drivers from any source I can find. The adapter is an Atheros AR9285. I've tried lenovo's online drivers, and have even bought Driver Manager and asked the support staff to find drivers that work for me. They said they found one that worked, but I tried installing it and it said that "This computer is not manufactured by Quanta Computers" and then didn't install it. I have them working on that right now. But seriously, if they don't find a solution, what could the problem be? And how do I get my network adapter working again?

Here is some additional important information:
-The harddrive they gave me came with windows 7 x64 home edition. I am using windows 7 x64 professional.
-The wireless network adapter works if I use the harddrive the computer came with
-I am a chemical engineering college student who needs internet to do his assignments, and this little netgear usb adapter my friend lent me isn't cutting it

Please help me. Let me know if you need any further information

A:Lenovo G780 replaced harddrive, network adapter drivers fail

Hello and welcome nitro Mate one thing I didn't see you mention is the Device Manager in Control Panel have you tried that yet? CP > Device manager > open it up like in pic right click the adaptor > it will ask you to look for updates - it may come back as the correct one or not. See pic first.

If not have a look at this thread Best Atheros AR 9285 Driver? - Tech Support Forum there maybe something in there.

My 2 year old laptop is starting to get sluggish so I'm wondering if I should try to do a clean install of my Home Premium Windows.

Problem is, the computer came with no disks. Also, I'm assuming that the Backup and Restore function that's built in would only give me a copy of my crap-filled hard drive contents if I "made" the backup (to an external disk, presumably) then "restored" it to my freshly formatted internal drive.......right?

So, can I make my OWN clean disks with some utility on the machine? Or do I have to BUY another copy of Win7 Home Premium? Or will Best Buy provide me with one if I take my machine in? Or will Lenovo provide one?

Sorry if some of these questions sound idiotic.....but haven't done much in the way of installations, backups OR restorations.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

As I said, the primary reason I'm considering this is because the old baby is starting to chug a bit, and it's my understanding that getting off the data, wiping the drive, then reinstalling Windows is the best way to get my computer cleaned up and fast again. If that's a bad premise.....I'm all ears.

Thanks,
Michael

I can't install Win7 x64 SP1 on notebook Lenovo Z70-80 from USB 2.0 pendrive.

I was trying USB 2.0 ports and USB 3.0 port with no success.

Than I integrated latest intel USB 3.0 and storage drivers into boot.wim and install.wim using DISM tool and there is still no success - the installer can't find Windows 7 installation pendrive. There are disk partitions and mounted boot.wim in drop-down list, but even USB mouse doesn't work.

PS I'm sure that it is USB issue - not storage. I added storage drivers "just in case".
PS2 I'm sure that USB 3.0 and storage drivers are correct.

It looks like Windows 7 can't even see USB 2.0 ports.
Any ideas?
