I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I was using the laptop late at night for music and I fell asleep fully draining the battery. Now today I plugged it to its original charger. Then tried to start the laptop, led flashed blue heard the fans spinning felt the hard drive spinning even pushed the dvd port open and it responded by opening. Now the screen is still black. No acer logo. Tried even connecting it to an hdmi monitor no vga monitor at the moment but still no luck.I have read other posts about it. Tried fully charging it then making it start. Connecting it to other monitors in my case to the tv using hdmi. Hard resetting it( non-removable battery, so pushed the battery reset using pin)The only thing I think haven't tried is flashing the bios but I'm too scared to do it, thinking I'll do more harm to it.

Hi i recently bought an ACER E5-473G-51GY, my issue is when i plugged in my charger when gaming i get a drastic change in FPS which is very annoying, i read about it with other laptops and it is a possible BIOS issue and upon checking my BIOS version is 1.11 but when i check the acer website the latest available BIOS is 1.10. Should I downgrade my BIOS? or is there any other solutions for this I tried all the tweaking of power options and updated my NVIDIA driver. i hope you could help me on this. Thanks

Hey everyone!

I got a virus into my laptop, thinkpad r50e, and my netbook, acer aspire one d150 (it was inside my external hard drive) which i suspect did something to the BIOS, and the windows won't load and won't reinstall (gives the BSOD).
My thinkpad machine had a linux installed on another partition, and it worked. Using this guide and no previous knowledge about BIOS I managed to upgrade the thinkpad's BIOS successfully with the GRUB method from linux. And then reinstall windows without any problem.

Now I want to do the same thing to my other machine, Acer Aspire One D150. For the thinkpad I took the BIOS file from lenovo official site (link) and extracted it using cabextract command in linux, then I used the image file to upgrade the BIOS.
The problem is that I can't extract the BIOS firmware files for the acer netbook (which I took form the acer official site) and therefore I can't upgrade the BIOS here in the same way as I did for my thinkpad.

By the way I have no idea to which version I should upgrade the bios, currently the version on the netbook is 1.05.
Here are the links for the BIOS
This is the same version as I have (1.05) link
And this is the latest version (1.11) link
Thanks.

Yes, you should be able to add a sparate video card in, replacing the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE that's built into the motherboard. IIRC there is one x16 slot and one x1 slot.

My system is roughly 5 months old. I had used the upgrade software that Acer provided to upgrade from Vista to 7 home premium. There was no issues with the install and everything worked great for a month and then it started going in to deep hibernation. The only way to wake it was to unplug the power from the tower. I did everything I could think of from editing the registry to updating drivers, to finally reinstalling everything. No go so I packed it up and sent it back to Acer. I just got it back from Acer's repair depot. They had to replace the motherboard, hard drive, and fans on the system. They performed a factory restore and told me that I was good to go and updating shouldn't be an issue. I went to use the upgrade dvd's from Acer and low and behold, the hibernation thing started again! It took me four attempts to restore it back to factory. Now it seems stable running Vista. I am in the process up updating the drivers and windows stuff so time will tell. Is it me or is Acer systems flakey?

Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can go about updating to Windows 7 without having to format every week? I have tried doing clean installs without going the upgrade path and it still behaves badly. Sometimes it won't even turn on. Or is it just possible that the pc I purchased just can't handle Windows 7?

A:Acer Aspire M3203 and Acer's Windows 7 upgrade software

Are you booting the Acer Win7 Upgrade Media DVD to do a clean install? You can do that to get the cleanest possible install, without the corruption that is imported from Vista in an in-place Upgrade.

The installer is driver-complete, but afterwards any missing drivers which don't quickly arrive in Optional Windows Updates can be found on the apps/drivers CD along with favorite apps like Works, cam, etc. Others can be found on the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model computer, Adobe (flash, Reader) and Java (runtime, free Ofc suite) sites.

Have you tried removing the battery and power supply. Then press and hold the power button to try to reset the bios? Another option is to see if you have a bios re-set jumper pins usually located in the DRAM module compartment on the bottom of the machine --- it should be located somewhere around the periphery of the DRAM module so you shouldn't have to remove the module. Jack E/NJ

So I'm trying to fix a friends computer.Hes got a Acer Aspire V5-571P-6866 LaptopOS: Windows 8 or maybe 8.1 (Not Sure) When I turn it on, the Acer logo comes up but immideately goes to a bios error that reads: "PXE -E61: Media Test Failure, check cable" and "PXE-M0F: Existing PXE ROM" at the bottom and then loops to Operating System not found. Some times it will loop back and forth between the Bios error and the Operating system error, but will not do anything else. BIOS is completely unaccessible. I've looked everywhere for a solution around this so I can at least access the BIOS. What have I tried:1. Holding F2 while turning on2. Holding all the Fkeys while turning on3. Holding ESC4. Holding misc conbinations of keys found all over the internet5. Shorting out contacts under the Dimm module.6. Holding power for 30 seconds without battery and then pluggin in the battery and powering again. What I haven't tried:1. Inserting a Windows 8 CD since I have none.2. Inserting a bootable USB since I have none.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.I know that there are numerous threads on this, but almost everyone can still boot back to Windows. The other solutions I've read, Ive tried and nothing seems to work (list above).

Sorry you are having  problems with your Aspire notebook. Although they are posted, updating a BIOS is not something we recommend to see it it resolves lock up issues. Lockups or hanging, slow performance is usually caused by software corruption.  In those cases we would suggest you back up your data and restore the system to factory configurations using the eRecovery tool. If this does not resolve the issue we suggest you contact in warranty support for further assistance. Their number is posted at http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact.

Sorry to rehash this thread, the other one was "solved" but didn't answer my questions I was reading up in this forum becuase there is a lightly used Acer Aspire TC-705 for sale in my area for really cheap and was possibly going to upgrade it and give it to a friend.  I saw that the 750 Ti was a choice people went with in this rig because it is small and also didn't need power connectors from a PSU. I also saw that a guy had a GTX 960 (i assume mini/single fan) in it, and said that he had the same MOBO as this pc, it was unclear to me weather he had the exact same PC though, so maybe his was in a different (bigger?) case. Really what I am trying to figure out (without actually buying the PC first) is what is the biggest GPU I could fit in here. I do plan on upgrading the PSU to an extra 550W that I upgraded from in my personal rig.  Has anyone had anyluck putting a 900 series or 1000 series Nvidia card in one of these with success? or is 750Ti the best that will fit in here?
