Intel Drivers - Which branch?

Q: Intel Drivers - Which branch?

Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, which uses HD Graphics 4400. I'm running Windows 10 64-bit. I noticed the drivers in the Windows Update channel are dated newer than what is on Intel's site and the version on my system is The version on Intel's site for the 4th Gen is and some older versions on my system are

What's the deal with these version numbers? More importantly, which ones do I use?

I'm also trying to troubleshoot some glitchy picture out of my system at 3840x2160/30Hz (4K UHD). Doesn't seem to be bad HDMI cables. Anyone else have issues?

Preferred Solution: Intel Drivers - Which branch?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Intel Drivers - Which branch?

I'm leaving it as is. most updates don't really add anything other than newer graphic cards and its running great

This is a long standing question. Which drivers should I use? I have graphical issues with the current Drivers from Dell.
Any ideas what are the advantages of Dell's drivers over the ones from Intel/NVIDIA web site and do the even work? What will I lose if I use the latter?

A:Inspiron 7567 which drivers? Dell drivers or Intel/NVIDIA graphics drivers?

Dell drivers are Intel/Nvidia drivers that are customized for your exact model and should be used. They are available at Dell Support if you have to reinstall.

My Dell XPS L502x is 14 months old (i7, 8GB, 689GB HDD, HM77, Nvidia 540M GT). I have installed all latest drivers for my laptop from Dell website. But those are still more than 6 months old. When I use Intel Driver update utility, it shows new version of drivers available. Even my nvidia control panel shows new driver available.
Is it Okay to update drivers from intel and nvidia website and replace drivers from Dell. I heard that Dell mods the drivers for thier laptops before supplying to thier users.

A:Should I update my stock Dell Drivers to Intel Drivers.

S"hould you", that is up to you, but the Intel drivers are the best for your computer. If you decide to change your drivers, start with a system restore point.
If you are not having specific problems, you probably will not notice any improvement however.

I am installing new drivers after an upgrade to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and I have 2 separate issues.

The page I am using for drivers is here:
MSI Global

And I am following the suggested order.

1) When I began setup for the Intel VGA driver I received an error message saying that "This computer does not meet the requirements."

- I skipped it and continued down the list of drivers but I am concerned since the second monitor I want to use is still not working.
- The Nvidia VGA driver installed correctly.

Is this a normal error and I should accept it as I do not need that driver or should I find another Intel VGA driver to try?

2) I have installed the Killer LAN and Killer Wireless LAN drivers for my laptop. Do I now need to ALSO install the Intel Wireless LAN drivers or no? Is it optional or required or don't do it at all?

Thanks for your help!

I dissagree in some part.

To say OOP as a whole is a failure i tihnk would be over generalising things. In some respects there has been no visible use for it. But in terms of some software devlopment it has been a vast improvement.

For example since switching all of my PHP web applications to a OOP scheme has enabled me to create moremodular designs capable of greater flexibility and scalability. Also i have noticed significant speed and efficiency increases over traditional code schemes.

I want to connect my main office with 5 branch offices, all branches have windows 2000 or 2003 server, wich would be the best way (and economic) to do this...

-Via Sofware (ISA Server or Windows) or
-Via Hardware ($$$)

What would be the mains problems of doing it via software???

A:Connect Branch Office Via VPN

The way I do it for a chain of doctors offices is through linksys VPN routers. Yes there are better ways, but we run a practice management software on a unix server using an emulation software so we don't send and recieve a lot of data. But the linksys VPN routers also use netbios so the machine son the other end are in your network neighborhood. It just depends on what you need to do over that VPN connection. Oh, and you need a static WAN IP address from your ISP at the main location.

I have reinstalled windows XP professional on my desktop computer E-S 312 Intel P4(519)but I am unable to connect to the internet. Also none of my usb ports work or card slots.

I presume the reason for this is that until I connect to the internet and update all the drivers it doesn't recognise anything.

I had a similar problem a while ago with a laptop I had and I resolved that by downloading the drivers on another pc then installing them on my laptop.

Does anyone know where I can download the drivers from. Soon as I have internet connection it should be fine.

Hi. Unfortunately, you'll have to upgrade if you want Aero at all. It will never happen with the display adapter.

You can try to install the driver in the device manager using this.

Right click it, update driver software, browse my computer, let me pick, have disk, browse.

Double click on the .inf. Hit ok, then next.

I finally solved my own problem with these drivers, after looking around Win 7 for a few minutes.

With the old discontinued Intel drivers, which were only made for XP.
(The only one I'm sure works, since it's the only one I have tested, is the 845G Series chipset drivers, mine is the 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV rubbish.)

If people would like pictures later on, I will definitely add them, I'm just here to solve problems I saw with other people.

So the issue I actually had, was that since my computer was built for XP, and it is old. All my drivers for my graphics were discontinued, and stopped being updated after XP.

I discovered how to make those XP drivers work. (I also apologize for my separated. one-sentence paragraphs.)

Download the driver you need from Intel, but instead of downloading the .EXE file, download the zipped folder with the driver inside, it's meant for developers, but this is the only way I have figured that it works, since when you open the .EXE it gives you the "Operating System is not supported." error. Moving on, extract the zipped folder into a new folder on your desktop, call this folder whatever you wish, just remember that you are going to need it.

Next, go into the Device Manager (Search tool, if you can't find it, look for Device Manager.) and select the device you wish to update with the actual driver that goes with it. You must select the actual device/driver inside the sub-category. Then at the top of the Device Manager window... Read more

After trying to figure it out as to why my laptop kept freezing, I came to a conclusion that Windows is too bugged/Intel drivers are corrupt/bugged.

Essentially, a few months ago, I "solved" my computer's freezing bug, where I couldn't use my mouse, keyboard and pretty much everything, the only solution to it being a hard reset.
Around a month ago, the very same problem came back. I cannot explain why it does so. My only assumption is that either Windows 10 can suck it (sorry for this one), or Intel drivers aren't updated for Windows 10.
For some reason, I can't install the newest driver for my Intel Graphics because "I need to install drivers from manufacturer's site". Therefore I'm pretty much stuck with a Windows 8 driver.

If any of you have an idea from where can I install the newest driver/why does my computer freeze, I'd be thankful

Just note the fact that I disabled ALL non-Windows services. Besides that, my NVidia drivers are up to date.

I'm attempting to run 8 (32 bit) on a Dell Mini 12, which purportedly has GMA 500 integrated graphics. The display is 1280 X 800, but it's running a fuzzy, horizontally-stretched 1024 X 768, and offers no other resolution options, on the Microsoft display driver.

When I download the GMA 500 drivers for Windows 7 32-bit from Intel and try to run Setup.exe, I get an error message saying "this operating system is unsupported." Which I'm sure is technically true, but the solution I see all over the net for Intel GMA 500 (and a host of other graphics) problems in 8 is to use the Windows 7 drivers.

Any advice? Anyone experiencing anything similar?

A:Intel GMA 500 Drivers for 8?

I have resolved this--this is probably super-obvious to most of you, but if anyone else is using Intel drivers and having trouble: make sure you get an Intel driver from Intel, not a 3rd-party site, and install via the control panel window for Screen Resolution, not via the SETUP.exe file Intel includes. Setup will fail when it checks the OS version.

I also had an issue with my screen blacking out at the end of the installation and not coming back. I waited for the laptop to go to sleep and woke it back up, to no avail; connecting an external display didn't help, either. But after a hard shutdown and reboot, it came up with no issues and the correct resolution is now displayed.

First thing, check your specs just to be 100% sure of what you have.

Second, Driver Genius and any similar program is not really recommended as they aren't particularly reliable.

Hey guys

Our company has a few branches located in the Midwest. One of the branches has a bad connection through the local ISP and they seem to lose it a lot.

They were considering getting a cable back up connection because right now they use a telephone based DSL.

I was wondering what kind of equipment do I need to make a VPN tunnel, that way I dont need to VPN each individual computer. If someone is a PRO in VPN please do let me know what is all required ie router, switch etc to have like a VPN box to avoid VPNing individual computers and the VPN will run over the cable internet backup.

First thing, I know next to nothing about computers.
We have a problem with our monitor switching off after start-up. The only way we can turn on the computer is by disabling the video card (Radeon x1300 pro).

Last thing that we did before the computer stopped working was to load suggested Windows Updates.
"Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - August 2009 (KB890830)
Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [August 2009] (KB905866)
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB973540)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB972691)
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB973507, KB971657, KB971557, KB956744)"

We have tried updating the Radeon Video card which is now updated.
We tried re-installing the Viewsonic monitor wizard cd and it said that we had to manually install a component (display optimization files)for Vista but then it wouldn't complete the installation. The viewsonic file in program files is there but empty.

Now I've found that the Monitor device in Device Manager is gone so I can't try to enable or change anything to do with monitors.

A:No monitor branch in device manager

I have no access to another monitor to see if the problem is with the monitor itself.

Just wondering if I should spend the $200 on a new monitor or getting the computer fixed by tech guys?

Hi all

I have a branch office that uses a low grade home router vpn link to connect to our main office this causes very slow response time when users are connecting to mapped drives.

Im thinking of going the rodc route further down the road when we go to server 2008 to improve log on times, but a rodc to my understanding does not have anything to do with the mapped drives as its not a full copy of the main office DC.

For now id like to speed up the access times to the mapped drives for the branch office users, Im musing over having them stored locally on a pc hooked onto their network and then somehow have the changes mirrored to the main office.

Anyone got an idea?

Thanks for reading

A:Branch office slow link

What are the specifics of your branch office's internet connection? What is slow for the users with mapped drives? Is it mounting the network share and/or the actual file transfers? What router are we talking about?

I hope you're aware that many low grade VPN routers suffer drastic performance issues when they have to do any type of encrypted traffic. You can have a VPN router perform at say around 20 to 30 Mbps of routed throughput but only do about 1 to 2 Mbps when moving data across a VPN tunnel. Also, you may have to manually adjust your MTU settings on both ends of the VPN tunnel to account for fragmentation and overhead of the VPN tunnel.

Depending on the speed of your remote branch Internet connection, it may be worth the expense to upgrade the router to see if this helps. It'll be cheaper than the other alternative which is to implement a WAN acceleration product.

Hello all, and thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Seems like a simple enough question, but not one I'm easily finding an answer to - either here or in Google. If I'm the 4,376,124th user to ask this question, then please be done with me and point me at the right link. I'd appreciate it.

I'm doing a clean install of Windows 7 and, at some point, plan to branch off from Administrator and create a Standard User account which I will use thereafter. Many people seem to believe this is the safest way to run - though in the past I've always just done the simple thing and run as Admin all the time. If you think this is a bad idea, point me to a link or tell me why. I'd really appreciate it.

Otherwise, my question is this: When do I create and make the switch over to the new Standard (non-Admin) account? Right after I've install W7 and all the drivers and all the updates, OR later after I've installed Office, Photoshop, and all my various utilities? Not having done this before, it's unclear to me whether everything I install with just the Admin account will be visible with the Standard User account. It'd be nice to make the switch AFTER I've installed essentially everything I plan to use so that all the software would be accessible to both Admin and Standard user. Does that make sense?

You'd think Microsoft would have a simple discussion about this on their website since they really push not running all the time as admin. Perhaps I'm just not finding it, though I thin... Read more

A:On a new install, When do I branch off to Standard User?

The standard user account will constantly be badgering you for the admin password to install apps and do various things.

I would at least suggest creating a second user account with admin privileges, this way if there is a problem, you can always return to the clean main admin account to troubleshoot and attempt resolution.

If you are the only person using the machine and plan on installing an antivirus application I really don't see the harm in using a user account with admin privs, I would not use the primary admin account though.

ok i just installed Windows 7 32bit ultimate. everything is working fine except my USB is only running at 1.1 not 2.0. the USB ports on the front of the tower aren't working at all and the ones at the back are running at 1.1.
this used to happen with winxp also until i installed the intel cd (chipset drivers), then it all worked at USB2.0.
i put cd in and windows 7 gives errors about not being compatible and doesn't let me run it.
i looked on intels website and my motherboard is listed in the "discontinued products" section. it only shows chipset drivers for win2000, winxp and win vista.
anyway i downloaded them to give it a shot, installs with multiple errors and still my USB2.0 is still not working.
my question is since intel doesnt support win7 with my motherboard chipset drivers, are there generic usb drivers for windows 7? or anyway around this?

Also make sure that USB 2.0 support is enabled in your BIOS.

As for the generic drivers, they would have come with Windows 7, so there is no use trying to find others online.

I am getting tired of the BSOD's in the middle of something important and would like to get the problem fixed. Anyone with any suggestions would be appreciated. I am using a Gigabyte P35-DQ6 motherboard.

Thank you

FIrst off, I'm not a big fan of programs like DriveAgent as I personally feel they're not always accurate. My opinion.

Those errors you're getting could also be indicative of an impending hard drive failure, so you need to look there as well. You might also check the SATA/IDE cables to and from the hard drive for looseness.

Also Intel's chipset drivers usually need to be installed right after the OS install, and if you've installed them initially, than I seriously doubt they're the problem.

Check for hard drive issues - Check your hard disk for errors - Windows Vista Help

You could also run system file checker - System Files - SFC Command

So far I have installed all the drivers here but Im wondering if there are any more drivers I should be installing from this site.
The reason Im asking is because I have tried DriverMax and it reports that some of my drivers are out of date and need updating. I am loathe to use programs such as DriverMax to actually install drivers in case they get them wrong.

But its reporting the following as out of date:

Should I be concerned with this and try and locate the right drivers or just leave them as they are?

A:Intel DX48BT2 Drivers

I have recently got a new laptop with a GeForce GT 520M, and for some reason my DxDiag doesnt seem to register the fact that it's there, as you can see below.

I have got the nVidia Drivers installed as well as Intel HD Graphics installed.

I'm worried that this is affecting my laptops performance.

Please help!

A:Need Intel Chipset drivers

Well; the thing is; usually the drivers intel puts out are just "generic" drivers; as they arent made specifically for any brand. What is the brand of your motherboard?

I had Windows 10 in my G50-30 Laptop but due to some problems, i had re installed my Windows 10 by my self(retail Version). when i had Windows 10 earlier, latest version of Intel HD Graphics from Lenovo Support were working fine. but after re install, they are not idk why. i used System Detect to get best Supported Drivers for my System. when i try to install the downloaded Drivers it says "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." i checked Intel Website for solution but it only said i have wrong drivers, but i downloaded them from Lenovo System Detect then how can it be wrong? also, my friend also has same Laptop, and i installed same Windows 10 to his Laptop too.. and Graphics Drivers ran without any errors in his. i tried his drivers in my PC but still same. Also, when i uninstalled my current Version of Drivers, it showed that requirements error but after a few min, drivers got automatically installed back in. so now when i try to install downloaded Drivers, it gives diffrent error as follows:"The Driver  being Installed is not validated for This computer. please obtain the appropriate drivers from computer Manufacture." idk why its happening.. also, Intel Drivers Utility is asaying its Generic or something like that so i cant update using Update Utility. please help me...

It only has one from 2005, and DirectX doesn't have Direct3D available. I uploaded the one from 2005, but IT STILL SAYS TO MAKE SURE THE DRIVERS ARE THE MOST UPDATED.

My computer is a Dell Dimension 3000, DirectX 9.0c, AND I've played Sims 2 before, on this computer [for quite a few months]. Any suggestions.

And should I buy a new video card?

A:Has Intel come out with new drivers for 82865G?

It looks like the Intel 82865G ( version drivers from September 29, 2005
are the most current available. In general, integrated video cards (built onto the motherboard)
are only for very light gaming with older games and at lower video settings.
