I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,
We are using Windows 8.1 currently in a Fax Appliance. this used by medical and financial offices around the country.
We need to know if Windows 8.1 currently meets HIPAA standards for compliancy. We understand it is no longer in mainstream support, and exist now in a state of extended support and will be EOL by 2023.
If this product does not meet HIPAA compliance standards we need to know now.
Thank you,

For those who haven't read my first version of the WinDbg Cheat Sheet, I'll explain very quickly what is. The WinDbg Cheat Sheet is meant to be a easy reference for a majority of the data structures and extensions available when debugging BSODs using WinDbg.

I've included small descriptions for each command/extension, and is largely written for those who have some debugging experience.

Added:
Contents
Windows Access Tokens
Windows Registry
Windows Heap Manager
ProcDumpExt
SwishDbgExt
Miscellaneous
Local Inter-Process Calls (LPCs)
Windows Power Policy
There is more information about specific data structures and extensions on my blog (see link in sig).

Hi All,
I found an old post (http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/632779-selecting-previously-active-sheet.html) which is exactly the same issue I'm having...
...however the thread starter said that they managed to sort but didn't explain how! A little frustrating...I've search for similar issue but couldn't find one so sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.
Anyway in short, I have an interactive dashboard whereby it only shows one worksheet at a time both for aesthetic and functionality reasons. A user moves through the workbook via buttons. A number of worksheets may lead to one worksheet or visa-versa. Because of this I'd like a macro that when the user clicks the 'Back' button they are returned to the last active page they were on but hides the page they have just come from, so still keeping the one worksheet format.
Currently I'm writing a separate code for going back to a particular sheet, laborious considering I have 60+ sheets (and counting). Plus I intend to use this dashboard format for other uses in the future so having a catch-all macro to go back would be very useful.
Help much appreciated.
Thanks!

I sincerely hope that the description below is fairly comprehendible.

I am constructing a table in excel of movies with the actors, actresses, director, etc. On the first sheet (named Movie Info), column 4 is an ever growing list of movies. Across row 8 is a list of actors, actresses, directors, etc. Across the row of the title and under the appropriate person who is in that movie I place a check mark (this check mark will eventually become a hyperlink to something like Wikipedia or IMDb). What I would like to do is manually enter the new title. To do this, I am inserting a new row at row 9, just below the people row. Then from something like IMDb, copy and paste a list of the important people on another sheet (sheet 4, named Dummy). At this point I have been trying to write a macro to "read" the person on the Dummy sheet, jump to the Movie Info sheet, find the appropriate person and place a check mark under that name, and when finished insert a new blank line in row 9, preparing for a new entry. This macro would also have to realize that if the person isn't found that it would have to be added at the end of the "people row". At this point I have 163 movies. That's not the problem. The problem is the people list is at column TZ and to scroll manually to find the appropriate person is tedious to say the least.

Can anyone help? I appreciate your thoughts.

Hi,

I need to paste data from one worksheet that is unfiltered (not hidden) onto a worksheet that is filtered. I need to paste onto visable cells only, ignoring the hidden rows. Currently, my data is being pasted onto both visible and hidden rows.

I know its possible to paste only visable data, ignoring hidden cells, but I need to do the reverse of this. Pasting non hidden data onto only visible cells. And I hope I am explaining this well.

Please do not suggest a vlookup because this would take entirely too long due to the nature of my data and this project. Also, I am not skilled enough to do code, so keep it simple...

Suggestions please?

If Hard drives are removed from towers beforehand are there any other requirements on the rest of the case? Rest of the contents would include PC Tower, motherboard, ram, optical drive. There are no flash drives or removable drives of any kind connected. Do the machines need to be inventoried or destruction certified? or can we more or less call out any old recycling company to come dispose/recycle the cases? Thank you!

hi guys...i posted regarding this file a few times...and is still coming back to haunt me!

i need some help here....especially now that the ppl at the office need the information to be drawn out differently.

ok. here's the scenario:

i have an excel file with 8 sheets

"Questionnaire" sheet is to be filled out by a rep and has some drop down lists to populate the "POtemp_NY" sheet.

ampaper, edmar, sterling, stoneglo, strauss and uneeda are all venders with lists of their products...with their prices.

"POtemp_NY" is the master sheet where all the information must show on

The problem is, i need to have the "POtemp_NY" sheet populate the description, units, and price when someone enters a value in the "Units" column on a vendors sheet. Also, i would need the "POtemp_NY" sheet to continue to list the products on the next lines if there are multiple products with values in their "Units" cell.

Any help would be GREAT!!!!

Thanks in advance!

the file is attached for reference! thanks!!!

We are having a debate about whether or not IE 8 is considered HIPAA compliant.  I know in order to remain HIPAA compliant, you much continue to provide security updates in order to stop vulnerabilities with the application.  So if Microsoft stops
issuing updates for IE 8, would that not mean that IE 8 is no longer HIPAA compliant?
I'm trying to move forward with IE 10 as I believe it will provide the functionality I need, but first have to back up my argument about HIPAA compliance.

I have searched but have come up empty on this, at least definitively.

The Life Cycle page for IE says "Releases known as Components follow the Support Lifecycle of their parent Major Product."
So, I am wondering, since Windows 7 shipped with IE8 as the installed version,  the parent would presumably be Windows 7, which would make IE8's support lifecycle the same, correct?

Thanks

A:Is IE 8 considered HIPAA compliant

Hi,
the major web players all have a 3 versions policy for web browser support.
that is they will support the last 3 versions of browsers from vendors. this covers more than 70% of web traffic/visitation and use.
IE9 and onwards have security features that hinder or prevent modern attack vectors.
If you upgrade to IE9 or higher you can still have legacy web application support (IE Compatibility view), but still have the superior security features of IE9 and above.
there is absolutely no reason to upgrade to IE11 on Windows7 since it still supports legacy and proprietary MSIE features.
'Support' for MSIE browsers is provided in security updates through windows updates, only... (kill bits and occasionally module updates). In turn support for operating system versions is through windows updates.... the EOL support for
XP means that MS will no longer issue WU for that OS....
Your C/B argument could be along the lines that the latest version available still supports legacy applications (minimal migration costs), but has the latest security enhancements and future web (html5) capabilities. If your upgrade path includes utilization
of cloud technologies then latest version of IE will suffice. IE8 is and will remain DOM3 non-compliant.

Realistically, on Vista and Windows7 your minimal IE version should be 9. Optionally win7 can be upgraded to v10 and 11.
It is not so much a question of browser vendor support, but rather web content provider support... Read more

Hi,

I have an application called BT Billing Analyst. This application has an option to open a report in Excel.

When I used Excel 2007 the report data opened in sheet 1 of an Excel workbook and some information on the report was put on sheet 2.

I recently upgraded to Excel 2013 and now when I open the report in Excel the report data is populated on sheet one but after that the first 25 lines get overwritten by the information that should go to sheet 2.

Is there any way I can fix this?

Thanks

You may have to go to the BT Billing vendor to resolve this. Perhaps an updated version is available. 2007 is xml based like 2013 so I am surprised there is a conflict. But I don't think there is anything in Excel you can do to resolve.

Hello everyone, on behalf of my company I am looking for a small-medium business level upgraded solution for security and management. This is both to increase our service response time and verify we are fully regulation compliant, especially through HIPAA as we have a lot of medical clients. I am on a reasonably tight budget, and have surpassed some of the larger enterprise solutions that are highly rated such as SolarWinds and WhatsUp Gold. No matter how we swing it, $4000-$5000 dollars each for a Log Manager and a Network Monitor is just too much to justify charging for each of our small business clients separately.

Some of the aspects that we need to have covered are:
1... Immediate alert on power failures or shutdown devices
2... Alert when there have been a set number of unsuccessful logon attempts to a server in a set time period.
3... When a system is running low on disk space
4... When there is a CPU spike in processing power.
5... When there is a bandwidth spike, and what user/machine is sucking all the bandwidth up.
6... Firewall monitoring for what ports and ips run through it and say if someone tries to access a port and it gets blocked, instant notification.
7... When a machine has not been logged off the server after a set period of inactivity

Through my own research it seems as though the only options are to get a log management solution (HIPAA compliance and documentation...) and then a separate tool for network monitoring and usage stats. For example, I hav... Read more

A:What HIPAA compliant security suite? (Log manager, firewall analyzer and/or monitor)?

HIPAA compliance is a serious matter and although some vendors claim their products to be, we have no way of knowing if they actually do meet the government requirements so it would be impossible for us to advise on this issue. Therefore, I think it's best that you continue to do your own research on this and then check with the governing body that oversees HIPAA to make sure that you are meeting their requirements for compliance in order to avoid any confusion.

Hello all,

while evaluating a new enterprise tool for our company a question was asked to the suppliers if their software is Vista compliant. One solution only requires a thin client with IE 5.5 or higher to use and say that they will not check if their software is Vista compliant as Vista uses IE 7 and they have tested with IE7 and Windows XP and it works fine.

Is there something that could prevent their software from working in Vista? Should we require them to certify Vista compliance?

Has anyone out there run into this situation? Have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
Terry

I purchased a usb type c spectre late last year (the rose version with i7 and 512GB.  It generally works well but so far the power system is very disappointing.  The basic issue is I purchased this device specifically because it purports to be USB Type C compliant.  That means I should be able to charge the device with any usb type c charger provided it meets the technical specs (e.g. 45 watts and so forth).  But it doesn't.  Instead, the software settings seem to make it in effect a proprietary set up.  If so, this is objectionable and possibly contrary Australian consumer law.  The problem is that I can only charge the device with the supplied charger.  The first issue is the charger is excessively heavy and bulky.  Why does the world's slimest and lightest laptop have such a bulky charger.  It's comparable to the laptop itself.  This is just dumb! The second issue is I can't use the rest of my USB Type C set up including a large battery, and a charger in my car.  Nor can I use my phone charger.  So I have to drag the HP charger everywhere.  The third issue is that only 1 of the 3 ports actually charges other devices at the USB Type C spec.  The 2 lighting ports are not USB Type C at all - they are just 3.1 with a usb type c connector.  So they only charge the phone at 20 per cent, the phone won't transfer data, and various peripherals such as a bluetooth keyboard/mouse don't have enough juice to... Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question...
Recently had a PCI Compliance Scan performed which I failed for the following reason: "Firewall UDP Packet Source Port 53 Ruleset Bypass".  I am using Windows Firewall in Windows 7 Pro and the only place I can find any rule that specifies
port 53 is Core Networking DNS (UDP-Out).  I am not sure if I should disable this rule or not.  Or should I block port 53 in my wireless router?
Thanks in advance!

Hi again,

So I copied the code from http://forums.techguy.org/business-a...heet-easy.html to get my link to go back to the previous active sheet.

I would like an ammendment that allows the link to go back to not only the previous sheet, but also the previous cell where the hyperlink you clicked on to navigate away from the first sheet was located. In effect, when you returned via the macro described in the link above, you would know where you clicked because the cell would be highlighted.

Any help on what changes need to be made so that this can be done would be greatly appreciated.

-CG

A:Solved: Macro add-on, previous sheet to previous sheet and cell

Hi,

When you left the "Last Active Sheet" you were active in a cell when you left that sheet. Now when you click the button to take you back to the last sheet you will already be active in the last cell you were on.

What are the requirements for an existing application to be comaptible on Windows Vista RC1? How they are different from " Works with Windows Vista" requiremnts?

A:Requirements For Application Compliance.

I suspect that you'll have to contact Microsoft on MSDN to find that out. But, since Vista has gone RTM, I suspect they aren't very concerned with RC1 right now.

I work at a very small business with a newer credit card machine that is wired into a Netgear router with an Ethernet cable.

Credit card terminal runs thur no computer, it is hooked directly to the router.

I try to take care of all the IT concerns and problem when they come up.

The new PCI compliance rules that went into effect on Jan 31st 2018 are giving me real problems.

We have a static IP address which has not changed for about 4 years.
We always passed the PCI compliance scan done by a company called Trustwave.

For the pass 2 months we have failed the scans. The reason stated in the report is "Host not detected".

They (Trustwave) has told me that something in the router must be blocking the scan.

Basically they have been no help.

Does anyone know the solution to this problem?? I think that there must be thousands of small business with the same problem, as I tried to call Trustwave support but got only voice mail leave a call back number because of high call volume. I have been communicating with them only by email.

I am thinking that there must be a simple solution to this, but I have not found it yet.

If we passed the last 4 years and nothing on our end has changed then why can we not pass now.?

Makes no sense to me.

Anybody got any ideas ??? Should I call the bank that services the credit card machine ?

Thanks in advance for any help..................

Here's my situation. We have 4 systems that get remotely used. How ever we have been upgrading to be PCI-DSS compliant. We now need a way for these specific users to gain remote access to their desktops. Here are my thoughts but not sure which is best. So I'm just looking for your quick thoughts on this.

1. VPN that is PCI compliant. Then remote desktop from within the VPN. Would this still be PCI compliant? We have a Netgear FV338 router that is VPN pci compliant, but 60 bucks a client.

2. Use a 3rd party app such as go to my pc. That claims to be PCI compliant. I find these to vulnerable to changes in PCI compliancy. Will these actually pass our test?

I am just looking for options or if anyone has come across this situation?

Hopefully this is the right forum to post in..
I do IT work and am expanding into medical practices. I understand they must be HIPPA compliant and i was wondering if I need to be certified/take a test or anything to be able to even do IT work for a medical practice (third party IT). Some have said i need to have some certification to see the confidential patient information and I was wondering if any of you could maybe be more specific and show me what requirements they must meet or what certification I need to get to legally be able to work on their stuff, being I will be exposed to private patient information.

Thanks

A:HIPPA Compliance/Certification?

No, there is no certification required.  However, you do need to be fully aware of the HIPAA laws and the security systems on the computer and any transference of data must be HIPAA compliant.

Hi guys...an odd question here and I am mad at my IT Manager !!

Being a network Admin in-charge, i want to enforce a few policies at help desk. One of them is, not to create any user account unless an email arrives from HR to HelpDesk, informing of the user's badge ID, the department he/she belongs to. The status of employment and all those things. The procedures are in place but sometimes it so happens that some head of the Dept. call our IT Manager over the phone, or send him an email directly whcih is then forwarded to our Help Desk incharge who is then left with little options but to create the account without due processes.

HelpDesk incharge is bound by his position to defy IT manager and he is scared to tell me (sometimes he does) that IT manager is forcing him to dilute the AD account creation policy.

I don't want to confront IT manager based upon inputs by Helpdesk guys but would rather put a mechanism in place, where I would automatically come to know, that an account has been created and I can ask helpdesk to provide proof of the email from HR arbitrarily and then confront the manager.

I know some Audit trails can be put and they would appear under Securty tab of Event manager ( or so I guess) but I need something more automated that would land in my mailbox.

Is this possible?

Update: Installation successful, at the cost of one RAM module (remove from system), as suggested in this thread.
However, boot still fails with 2 modules in place.

Original Post:
Hello, my version of Windows 7 has failed to install, both at boot and within windows XP. The in-OS install failed, generically stating that it couldn't read the files it was looking for. (It REALLY needs a details tab for IT experts. It could have been my raid drivers, which seem to be running afoul in other OS's...s) The boot install didn't even start stating that my BIOS was not fully compatible with APCI.
However it is a feature-laden Gigabyte model from this year! There are no BIOS updates in regards to ACPI.

MA790TX-UD4P motherboard....

In my next installation attempt I will mount the ISO with Emulation and install from there, at least until restart.

Full system specs in my profile...

Edit: I've taken a look at this thread, I should note that I have no onboard video and only have access to an Nvidia 9800 GT with this motherboard.
I will attempt the removal of the 2nd DIMM as suggested on page 2.

A:ACPI Compliance Failure? REALLY?

Welcome SI5K,

Sounds like you have been reading some posts first, good start. Must give you a for having your system specs in place. I have found in several of my installs of Win7 that the Bios settings were rather confusing as to how ACPI was enabled or not. So I just made several attemps until I got the right one recognized by Win7 install. that's just one thought. What Build # of win7 are you installing? How did you burn the DVD? 4x speed? seems to work best for most members. You did not state how much memory you have, but you say you took 1 stick out & attempted an install.

No Over-clocking of CPU, right ?

We can start here & other members will jump in with their thoughts, also. Sounds like all the right hardware, just some minor bugs to configure correctly.

Dear knowledgeable techsupport person,

I don't know how to enter in cheats for my games. It tells me to use Excel, but I don't have that.
Example: starfleet command II says in order to give yourself more prestige points you need to go to "assets\specs\sfbspc13txt" in the main directory of the game using Excel.
How do I view these files?
I have a 600is e-tower celeron.

A:Using cheat codes

You know the path to the file they want you to open. Have you checked to make sure the file is there?

So go open Microsoft Excel.
Hit File-Open.
At the bottom of the File-Open dialog box, change the "Files of Type" to Text files (*.prn,*.txt,*.csv).
Now browse to, or type in, the path to that file and the file name.
Hit Enter.
It should give you what is called the "Text Import Wizard".
I don't think I'd be too concerned at this point unless it gives you explicit instructions to follow, just hit Next until you see the FINISH button become available (this could actually be right away), and then hit Finish.

If you can't figure it out, send the instructions and the file to [email protected] I'll see what I can do for you. I have no idea what game you're talking about tho.
