Please Help!

I have cuteftp and am now trying to FTP some software to a secure area https://secure.webhoster.co.uk/asite

When I connect and accept the cert I think I get a problem.
The remote screen shows lots of nested file flolders (ie root/folder1/ root/folder2/....) and then programs in the root and 1 other folder.
The session log shows the following

STATUS:> Receiving reply...

Now I cannot get to lower levels and I am wondering if I have a setup problem in FTP or on my site?!?!?

Confused! :angry2:

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have successfully uploaded my website to the server using CuteFTP. Everything loaded with ease, except my pdf files . Everytime I try to upload even 1 of them I get this message "You don't have permission to perform this action." I don't know what I am doing wrong. The average pdf file size is 120Kb, and there is 4 of them in total. They are files I created and have stored on my system. I am using FrontPage to do my website, and in preview mode everything works fabulous! On the webpage itself, I am using links to access the pdf files. Any idea's?

A:Using CuteFTP

In addition to an FTP client you need an FTP server. The FTP server is the software that allows someone to connect and download/upload using an FTP client.

I hope someone can help me.

I had been using cuteftp 2.8 on my laptop and home computer. I just recently formatted my harddrive and decided to upgrade to Cuteftp Pro 3.2. It is a fully open version.

When I try to connect to any ftp site, it says the ftp is offline. I had no problems connecting to sites a couple of days ago. Just to make sure the ftp was not offline, I used cuteftp 2.8 on my laptop and I had no problems connecting to the site. So, I know the site is online.

Can someone tell me why 3.2 Pro says the ftp is offline and not even attempt to connect to the site, when I can easily connect to the site with 2.8. I really like 3.2 Pro and do not really want to have to go back to 2.8.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have cuteFTP pro installed and I get this wierd message when I try to connect to a ftp server.

CuteFTP Pro could not start Transfer Engine, probably because of bad registry settings. Press 'OK' to continue and specify the correct Transfer Engine file nameClick to expand...

When I press Ok, it gives me an open file dialog. I see the transfer engine in the folder, but when I click on it and press "Open," it gives me the above message.

BUT when I right click on the transfer engine and click open, and press cancel, the transfer engine opens and the FTP site I wish to go to connects.

I'm running cuteFTP Pro 1.0 on XP professional.

Was there any error message in red, as well as the above one?

Which version of the Pro do you have: 2 or 3?

Have you tried reinstalling the software? Also, did you have another version, prior to this one?

Does anyone know how to configure this router with cuteftp?
I cant seem to get into any of my friends sites when they use any port other than default 21.
Ive toggled with pasv mode and nothing....
im trying to connect to a friends ftp and his port is something
like 52939
I can connect to him but i dont get a directory listing and immediately after i connect i get a "Transfer aborted" error.

Anyone out there know how to help a poor ol router newbie?
Thanks much

A:SMC7008ABR router w/cuteftp

If you can connect at all there is nothing to change on your router. All outbound FTP traffic should flow through your router no problemd to begin with. I would go into your FTP client settings and toggle passive mode and make sure you are connecting via the correct port #. Also check with your friend to see if he has the correct directory permissions set up for your login.

But when i try yo export the username/passwords through "Site Manager" as a text file then only username and server addresses are transferring, no passwords are transfering. ( I tried by importing that text file in CuteFTP)

I have many layers of defence on my computer, including virtualization and a 0-day attack app called CyberHawk. Everything was going fine, until the other day, CyberHawk started alerting me that Outlook Express was logging keystrokes. I chose to deny it, and it was shut down immediately, and then once or twice more after I started it but then it's been fine ever since.

Then CH alerted me that MSN was logging keystrokes. After denying it, now MSN continues to shut down during conversations, and it is very frustrating. Then CuteFTP it turns out was logging strokes but due to the necessity of transferring files I have chosen to allow it.

I have tried all kinds of rootkit and malware detectors and at worst they found a couple of low risk Ad tracking cookies, but the problem persists.

Is the keylogging normal in these apps?? What should I do?

Windows XP Home SP2
Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall
Cute ftp

I don't know what has changed or how it got changed, but now when I open Cuteftp it makes Kerio firewall start creating new purple shields across my task bar,Cuteftp blinks, and everything slows down. There is 100% cpu usage until I open Windows Task Manager, then it eventually gets under control and goes to 3 or 4%. When I open Windows Task Manager to see if I can see what's going on, whichever process I click on also begins to blink. Pointing the mouse at the row of Shields causes them to disappear, but they return, one by one. It's like a process is going that I haven't started.

I think the problem is in how I have the firewall configured. I really have no clue as to what to allow, not allow, or to be asked. Ftp is especially delicate because it's so easily used by outsiders if it's not protected well.

Could someone tell me what should be Permitted, Denied, or Ask, for a safe FTP? And is ftp a trusted zone or an internet zone?

I'm supposed to upload a monthly ezine tonight but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Always sumthin, hey?

Greetings ladies & gentlemen. I would like to ask for assistance with my timing out issue.
Everyday, I have to download videos that clients upload to my FTP, and when ever I am downloading these videos, I cannot browse anything online, because websites keep timing out.
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
FTP Program: CuteFTP 9
Web Browser: Firefox v34
ISP: Charter
Is there something I can change in my Windows or CuteFTP settings that will allow me to browse websites at the same time as I download via FTP?
I assume my FTP is taking all the bandwidth? Is this correct? But I didn't have this problem up until a month ago. I am not quite certain what has changed.
I would appreciate your assistance.

Thank you

Security has always been critical to the web, but challenges involved in site migration have inhibited HTTPS adoption for several years. In the interest of a safer web for all, at Google we?ve worked alongside many others across the online ecosystem to better understand and address these challenges, resulting in real change. A web with ubiquitous HTTPS is not the distant future. It?s happening now, with secure browsing becoming standard for users of Chrome.

Today, we?re adding a new section to the HTTPS Report Card in our Transparency Report that includes data about how HTTPS usage has been increasing over time. More than half of pages loaded and two-thirds of total time spent by Chrome desktop users occur via HTTPS, and we expect these metrics to continue their strong upward trajectory.
Percentage of pages loaded over HTTPS in Chrome

As the remainder of the web transitions to HTTPS, we?ll continue working to ensure that migrating to HTTPS is a no-brainer, providing business benefit beyond increased security. HTTPS currently enables the bestperformance the web offers and powerful features that benefit site conversions, including both new features such as service workers for offline support and web push notifications, and existing features such as credit card autofill and the HTML5 geolocation API that are too powerful to be used over non-secure HTTP. As with all major site migrations, there are certain steps webmasters should take to ensure that search ranking tra... Read more

Oh dear, nope, it's not true, https connections are just for passwords, websites come across encrypted in https mode and decrypted when the site gets a handshake from your pc, it's just a more secure way of entering form info and passwords, but to be honest, if your computer isn't secure on the virus front, the https connection is irrelevant.

Try clearing your cache, Are you getting interrupts with your internet service? I believe Citrix will complain if your internet drops out while connected. Try running CCleaner, it will clear out all of your internet cache and other junk sitting on your machine.

Also you might want to run spyware scans. Download Windows Defender and Spybot search & destroy.

Hope this helps.

But, since the connection came back my browser will only access https capable sites, no http. This is a pain because a lot of my Favourites are http only. As a matter of fact, even some https sites wont download. There are far too many of these instances to be just sites going down etc. Does this sound like a setting has changed somewhere, or maybe could the poor connection be causing an issue, even though everything was working as normal until the system went down for a while, and the noise problem is not new.

This is a legacy system that I have to keep running.  Suddenly, I cannot reach any secure (HTTPS) web sites.  This is a problem since Windows Update requires IE.  (I have applications running on this system that are still getting updates.)
I can access secure (HTTPS) web sites using Firefox but windows update does not work properly with it.
I have tried clearing the SSL slate, resetting all options to the default.  All add-ons are disabled.

I though I could uninstall and reinstall it using add/remove programs\windows features but that only removes the shortcuts.
Any suggestions on how to get IE 8 working again with HTTPS would be appreciated.
