Peak Performance 2010 started it

Q: Peak Performance 2010 started it

About a week ago my husband somehow picked up Peak Performance 2010. I tried to figure out how to get rid of it and the only thing I could do at the time was to use Loaris Trojan Remover. It helped some but my Avast is ALWAYS blocking a different malware every time we go on the internet now and the computer seems to be running slower than normal. Hope you can help!!!

Preferred Solution: Peak Performance 2010 started it

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What are some tools that I need to keep my computer at "peak performance"?
So far, I already have the following:
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
CCleaner
Smart Defrag
Advanced SystemCare

What else should I get?

A:Keeping my computer at peak performance?

Well, for starters, MWBAM is a Anti-malware/Security tool, not a performance tool. CCleaner and Smart Defrag are good choices for performance, I have never heard about Advanced SystemCare - if it includes a "Registry Cleaner", i'd keep away from it. Registry Cleaners usually do more harm than good.

Always keep an eye on startup programs as well (those can affect performance), and be aware of the limitations of your computer's hardware.

Outside of that, I think your doing fine program wise.
How do you feel the computer is running?

Please post your system specs as well.

I'm sure others will chime in.

I can get a desktop eventually with Task Manager however any action after that causes the NT AUTHORITY shut down to occur making it impossible to work with this infection. I have better control in safe mode and can run programs without the shut down. Malwarebytes runs and removes objects but normal startup still has Peak Protection 2010. Is it possible that the MSBLAST is working with Peak Protection 2010 to prevent removal for a normal start up of Windows XP? Thanks you for your advice.

A:Peak Protection 2010 - MSBLAST?

Hello,Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue. Hello everyone!

Im new to the language of VB 2010.

I would like to know if what is the new code for the "Do Events" in VB 2010.

I started creating my programs in VB 6.

Im a student by the way.

Thanks.

A:How to get started in VB 2010

I lot has changed in Visual Basic since it became Visual Basic.NET. The old VB6 language is incompatible with VB.NET, though they tried to save what they could. Most importantly, the entire event structure changed in .NET so it could be compatible across VB.NET, C#, Visual C++, and all other .NET languages.

There are many good books about VB.NET programming. I would search Amazon and read the reviews to find one best for you. And since Visual Studio 2010 was just released, there may not be as many books for 2010 as for 2008 or 2005.

Also, head on over the Microsoft's MSDN site where you will find a lot of online material.

I went to control panel/prog/prog&features/MS click to run/(I double clicked) uninstall. I did NOT see any "change or repair" listed. Is it located in the "uninstall" area? IF not, how do I find the repair program?

Try with this, Click the Start and then choose the Control Panel option >Control Panel window opens up. Click All control panel items. Now choose Programs and Features. The window opens up.>To view the installed programs list. Click View installed updates in the left pane.>To Uninstall the Program, Select it from the list and Uninstall button will appear. A friend's laptop was infected with IS 2010 and I followed the instructions for uninstalling the malware in the "Spyware Removal" section. After running Malwarebytes and rebooting it would not connect to the internet. I ran Winsock Fix and was able to connect to the internet. I unistalled MBAM and tried to download a clean copy. I was redirected several times trying to get to Malwarebytes.org and eventually went to cnet to try and download MBAM. It failed. I then downloaded MBAM on another computer and reinstalled it with a flash drive and ran a full scan. It found a few more things which I removed and rebooted.I installed SAS and ATF cleaner and tried to reboot into safe mode. Tried several times and it still won't work. Tried using safemode repair in SAS and still no luck. and I'm about ready to throw my computer at the wall.

I run Windows 7 Professional.

I returned from vacation and was greeted by the usual 500 emails.  I first deleted anything that was spam, then sorted out the ones I needed to respond to.  I took care of some other business, went back into Outlook to send an email and it had locked up.  I tried all the usual steps....shut Outlook down and restarted it, tried the Microsoft Office repair, did a system restore (Microsoft updater had run and installed a bunch of new files the previous night, so I restored to a point before that) then finally decided to uninstall Microsoft Office 2010 and reinstall it.

When I try to open Outlook, it takes quite a while to get it running (at least five minutes), and when it finally opens the email window I am greated by a small popup screen with a Firefox logo asking me to download an html file.  I cancel out of that, and then Outlook completely locks up.

At this point I was relatively certain that I have a virus, so I ran Microsoft Security Essentials, it found nothing, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, which found a bunch of garbage (coupon downloader, etc) that I deleted, CCcleaner (just because I had it on my machine) and still had no luck with Outlook.

I then resorted to trying to download new anti-virus software from the internet, first AVG and then Panda, but both download/installs crashed before they finished.

I suspect something is in... Read more

OK So here is whats up. A couple weeks back I got infected with the annoying Windows Security Center 2010 pop up. I had Mcafee Security Center installed and up to date on my PC but it still got through. I tried numberous times to remove the program but everytime I did my McAfee would get disabled and I would have to scan over and over again in safe mode to to get it working again. Eventually I downloaded, installed and eventually un-installed several programs that were supposed to aleviate me of this problem such as: Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus (Installed and eventually un-installed)Stopzilla ( Installed then un-installled)Spybot Search and Destroy ( Still Installed on my computer )MalWareBytes ( Still Installed on my computer )Currently the Windows Security pop up is gone, hurray for that, but my computer is jacked up. Start Up takes forever, before the task bar shows up it displays a blank desktop background for about a minute. I get an error windows can't find CEUTIL.DLL and to top it all off I can not connect to the internet. When I go to the network Connections window under the status tab it appears to be hung up on Acquiring Network Address-firewalled.I'm running Windows XP on my Dell XPS Desktop computer. I would really appreciate any help I could get with this.Thank MarkEDIT: Moved from XP to Am I Infected forum ~ Hamluis.

Before you do anything, uninstall Spybot Search and Destroy because having two anti-virus programs running will ruin the efficiency of both programs. Then, restart your computer and try running MalwareBytes in safe mode.

The first sign I had of trouble was the Antivirus XP 2010 popups. Once I got the 'av.exe' killed with AVG, I thought I was fine. Later I noticed my Spybot scans were running long and I ran Malwarebyte's Anti-malware and cleaned out 'ave.exe'. The problems are coming faster now, and after disconnecting the laptop from the internet and running lots of extra scans from a newly installed copy of Spybot, MBAM, AVG, and anything else I can think of, I have a great collection in the virus vault. They include SHeur3.AVM, HTML/Framer.BT, Exploit_c.DCN, Cryptic.QGS, three instances of Cryptic.BQ and two of Dropper.Agent.SBR. The computer seems better if it is disconnected from the internet, as soon as it is online, bam, themes start changing and I get detections from AVG and Spybot. ( I reinstalled a new Spybot because my 30 minute scans started taking two hours and would only search for Virtumonde the whole time, the reinstall picked up registry changes that were turning off the antivirus and the firewall.) I am in way over my head and would like my computer back. Thanks for your help in this matter. Hello again - Long story short, my problems were originally posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/307992/having-troubles-with-the-fake-microsoft-antivirus-spywaremalware/. I have since been trying to accomplish the steps laid out by boopme. While attempting to do so, my computer literally locked down and any of the icons on my desktop would no longer work. I rebooted into SAFE MODE and tried to at least get some of the tools downloaded onto my machine. While I was running one of the scans listed in the post, my computer just completely shut down on me. Since that time I ended up doing a system restore back from a point at the end of March (the 28th) to be exact where this wasn't an issue. From there I have completed the steps asked by boopme in the forum and will post them here. I have also added the Free AVG software to my machine and "findings" pop up from time to time. I've been noticing that when doing a google search the links inside of Google direct me to other links and web sites. Also, my primary browser is Google Chrome and I am still having an issue with that as I'm not even able to launch it. I double click on the application and it just opens a new blank tab and that's all the further it gets. Overall, I'm a little worried that there is a lot going on in my machine and I just need to get the dang thing back to par. Everything started a couple weeks ago. I began receiving pop ups saying I was infected with 100's of virus's and needed to purchase their anti-virus software. I ignored it for a couple days. (I know that was the worst thing I could of done) Then my programs started not opening, when I would click on a program the open with menu would pop up saying it could not find the right program to open this with, please select from the list below or click here to go online to find the program. I was having to use that link just to get online. Then my keyboard stopped working.Yesterday, I followed the instructions I found online to download rkill, and malware, to get rid of the security internet 2010. I had to use my laptop and download it to my scandisk and use it on my computer. I am no longer getting the pop ups. However, I my keyboard is still not working, when I try to type something into the search pane, all the menus keep opening like the favorites, feeds, history, print. The tab button also works, but none of the keys.Plus, sometimes like 3 or 4 of my desktop icons will be highlighted so that when I click to open one 4 open. The open with menu is no longer popping up.I did a highjack this log and analyzed it and fixed a few items that were missing files. One thing it would not fix was the O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\nwprovau.dll The highjack this log said to go to www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and get the lspfix to repair 010 winsock lsp... I have just 'upgraded' from excel 2003.

I find that copy/paste of charts and resizing/redrawing of charts to be very slow (2-5 secs) in excel 2010. In excel 2003 these operations appeared to be instantaneous.

Is this normal? Is there a way to speed this up?

System: i5 750, 4gb ddr3, hd5850

If this is the standard level of performance, why would anyone use this product over openoffice?

Hello !! Welcome to SF !!

I suspect it might be the add-ins that is causing the problems.

Open Excel | Go to File | Options | Add-ins |

In the Add-ins box, identify the add-in that you want to enable or disable and note the Add-in type located in the Type column.
Select the Add-in type in the Manage box and then click Go.
Select or clear the check box for the Add-in that you want enable or disable and then click OK.
I would recommend to disable all non Microsoft add-ins
If you find difficulty doing that use this utility to disable them OfficeIns: Office Addin Manager (Enable/Disable Outlook/Word/Excel Add-Ins)
Good Luck,
Captain

Tried running it on dx9 and dx10 same outcome. Heres my system specs which is why i'm confused.

Graphics Card- eVGA GeForce 9800GT 512mb
Ram- 4Gb DDR2-666x2 SDRAM

I have the latest drivers for my pc I should be able to run this game with high settings but sadly I can't, it feels like a game issue almost like a memory leak but I don't know.

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a new computer, and it's an issue I've had with another Windows 7 desktop that I purchased before. Unfortunately, when I fixed it originally, I don't exactly remember how because it was after hours of frustrating trial and error.
Anyways, the issue is that while all volume levels are set for peak output, the green/grey volume bar is only going up about halfway. I have been told to check all settings, check my speakers and reinstall my audio driver; however, none of them have fixed the problem. I have plugged my speakers directly into my iPod and they work fine, and I've tried different music-playing software, and the same issue persists.

If anybody has any ideas on how to fix this problem, it was be appreciated.

Hey everyone,

I have been having trouble with my network. I recently, (2 days ago), upgraded my cable high speed internet service from 2mbps down and .2 mbps up to 15 mbps down and 2 mbps up. However, even during non peak hours, pretty much all the time, the best download speed I can get is 4-5mbps. My upload speed stays where it should, at 2mbps. It is really only my download speed I am concerned about, because this happens every day all day. When I first upgraded the service, I got 12-13 mbps download speed, so something must have happened between then and now where I cant receive that anymore. My modem is a doscis 2, not 3, so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. It is an Arris TM602G/15 model. But as I said, I have received close to the full download speeds before, but not anymore.

Any help? Thanks!

A:Not getting speeds I am paying for... Even during NON-peak

Try contacted the service provider again ? They should have technicians to be able to check it for you. Could also be a line problem, did you add anymore lines to your cable lines inside ?

How are you testing it, where ? Did you change any other settings on PC. Windows does all optimizations for you.

Try resetting the modem, unplug it for 15 seconds, then plug back in. Or unplug and reboot PC. Usually a way to reset the modem back to factory state, need to check your service providers website for your model modem to be able to access it's settings. Usually you type in an address in your browser to access it.

Hi,

Does anyone know how to contact PEAK? I've tried googling them to no avail and they're not listed on the ATI site either.

I bought the card 2nd hand and when it boots into windows it has artifacts in the shape of pale vertical lines across the screen. Underclocking doesn't seem to remove this either.

I've got a 350W PSU but I've ordered a 400W incase it's a power problem (but surely underclocking would solve that?) and I've also ordered a fan in case it's a heat problem but the artifacts appear even after a cold boot so I'm wondering if the card has been broken.

If anyone has any advice or knows how to contact PEAK that would be most appreciated.

thanks

Tucky

I like playing Team Fortress 2 but I only get decent latency (~50 ms) outside peak hours (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), at these hours my latency goes up to 400 ms. I'm wondering if is this is a problem inherent to dsl infrastructure or is it that my isp is worse than average. In Mexico City there are only about 3 internet service providers, Prodigy Infinitum from the country's telecomunications giant(and a monopoly) Telmex is the one I use.
Of course most of their clients use the internet for sending emails and web browsing so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't care for providing a decent service for gamers.
How does everyone's isp perform for gaming?

A:High latency at peak hours

Most ISP's have you on a system with a lot of other users in your neighborhood. What you report is typical. You provider will provide you high speed and bandwidth at an increased price, and then this problem will go away.
We have performed a lot of work in Mexico City and certainly found a great number of providers... not just three... have you talked to repair services in your part of the city.
I do know that the costs are extremely high for service and support, compared to the USofA

This PC keeps crashing more times than you see crashes on the freeway. It comes in bursts. With the time between narrowing until it crashes during loading. Not the BSOD type - just flop - like the electrical power stopped.

Sometimes it seems like its overheated as reason (the temps though read normal).
Other more frequent times its just clicking on a folder - crash. Or scaring it by moving or scrolling the mouse too quickly - crash. As if the exertion was to much. Its not windows. I can reformat or grab another HDD & install win7x64 on it and thump - crash. Sometimes the critter will go for a day or three. Then it starts again. When it happened at the height of last summer the Repair shop claimed it was over heating. They were guessing. When I left it there it never crashed.

Recently the idea of purchasing some more RAM crossed my mind considering how cheap it can be now. After doing some searchin on google, i found mixed feelings towards whether or not you should have more than 1GB of RAM. I also started reading about the Windows Page file. I am running the following system: 3.2GHz P4 with 1GB of RAM. I download alot of torrent files but i am not a hardcore gamer. My question is why does it seem like windows is not using my ram to its full potential. The Peak always shows about 667236, and while i am currently downloading a torrent the page file is at 635MB. Should the page file not only be in use when you need to store more memory than u have RAM? What settings/modifications should I make for optimal performance, and should I get more RAM? I was thinking adding another 512.

At one point i disabled the Page File but Photoshop got mad. Is there anything wrong with disabling the PF, and should u when u have a certain amount of RAM?

Any guidance helpful.

A:Solved: Ram+peak+page File

Windows XP always uses the page file for low priority data regardless of how much physical memory is free. If you still have a lot of physical memory free while you are using as much of it as you ever would, you do not need to upgrade your memory. 1GB of memory is usually more than enough for any normal task. And no, it is not a good idea to disable the page file, as you found out.

hi

I have had the Windows 7 32-bit RTM for just over a day and find the Aero Peak too slow to display the thumbnail images.

My computer is quick, with 2.2 Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce 8600m 256MB DDR3, so clearly my laptop isn't the problem. It takes about 1 second to display the thumbnails, I think that's way too slow.

1. How can I make it display thumbnails quicker? Which speed do you recommend?

2. Will changing the speed increase memory usage of Windows processes?

Thanks,

Hope this is the correct forum. I just recently purchased an off lease HP NC6230 laptop pre-loaded with XP Pro SP 2. The laptop boots ridiculously fast and all programs operate flawlessly. My question is more out of curiosity than anything else as I don't have any issues...yet. I want to make sure I don't have a possible future issue that will cause me to have to reinstall XP or do something else and thereby lose all the programs I'm about to download/install.

Only because I recently added memory to my other HP laptop and my older Dell Dimension desktop am I now more familiar with Task Manager. So the first thing I did after booting up the NC6230 was check the task manager. I have 2 GB RAM and my concern is that the Peak Commit Charge right after startup is at 1.8 GB. My other HP laptop has 2 GB and, even after using programs all day, maybe hits 1.2GB. Same with the Dell.

It's not causing a problem but I can't figure out what's loading. There's barely anything running in the process list - the program totals don't come close to the peak charge. I did the usual cleanup in MSCONFIG startup but there's nothing there really. I then did a safe mode boot up and the peak was around 400K so there's definitely something loading or causing this "spike" during regular boot.

I've read tons of threads about similar issues but not where the safe mode is so much less. I wouldn't even sweat it but my oth... Read more

Commit charge is not limited to showing physical memory usage.
It includes pagefiles/virtual memory.

Hi I am running Windows XP SP2 and have a adsl broadband with a Belkin wireless modem/router. I have just bought a Peak Wireless Network Camera (model 3531CLPK330W) which has an inbuilt web server which can feed a video stream to the internet without needing an attached pc. You just configure it with the pc after connection to the router and then let it get on with sending out video irrespective of if the pc is on or not. The stream can be viewed on any web browser with Active X or java.

OK, I can connect it fine to my network, the router assigns it an IP number and I can view video fine on any machine within my network of 4 pc's. At present, for example my main pc has network IP number 192.168.2.2 and the netcam 192.168.2.4. My ISP IP number (Dynamically assigned) at this time is 86.30.20.33.

I have asked various people online to check the camera's IP number but (not suprisingly being a number on my network) they cannot see it. As I say, it works just fine within my network.

The netcam is configurable vis web browser controls and has various options regarding TCP numbers etc that I am reluctant to interfere with until I have a better idea what I am doing.

Can anyone advise me how to configure the netcam so it can be accessed from the internet?

Many thanks

Is your Web IP address (sometimes also called WAN IP, external IP, etc), i.e NOT the 192.168.. IP address a static or a dynamic IP address? You'll have signed up for one or the other with your ISP.

I suspect it is the latter; thus from time to time (the frequency depending on your ISP) it will change, hence the name(!), and your external users will have difficulty accessing your webcam.

Your either obtain a static IP from your ISP, these tend to cost a couple of quid more per month, or you can stick with the dynamic IP address, but you can sign up to a Dynamic DNS service. This will allow you to obtain a name for your site/webcam (e.g. fred.domain.com or whgatever) and the DynDNS serivce will keep your name current with your dynamic IP. You will find that www.dyndns.com, or www.no-ip.com (to name but two, there are many others) offer a basic free service that may meet your needs. You'll need to run a little program on either your router or a PC on your LAN that periodically notifies the DynDNS service when the WAN IP changes: some routers have such software as standard, or your can check your DynDNS providers site as they often provide such software for download.

Your friends need never beinformaed of the WAN IP numbers; you just tell them the memorable name you configured up with the DynDNS provider.

The 192.168... are private LAN addresses and are not routable over the Internet.
