I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A new report shows that hackers from Russia have obtained login credentials for more than 272.3 million email accounts, which are now available for sale in Russia’s criminal underworld, a Most of them are Mail.ru accounts, though the list also includes smaller fractions of Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft email users.
After eliminating duplicates, Holden said he found 57 million Mail.ru accounts, which is an enormous number compared to the 64 million monthly users the service said it had late last year. The database includes tens of millions of credentials from Gmail (24 million), Microsoft (33 million), and Yahoo (40 million), and hundreds of thousands of accounts from German and Chinese email providers.
Thousands of stolen credentials belong to employees of some of the largest U.S. banks, manufacturing and retail companies, the firm revealed.

A:Over 272 million email accounts stolen from Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo

Is there any way yet to know if one's own details are amongst those lists? When these sort of things occur it would be useful for people to be able to know if they are affected. Is there any report yet of the form
"Only :
users who were:
infected by .../
using ...as a password/
logged in on date .../
from the country .../
using passwords with no numbers in them/
have had their details caught up in this"?

- Did a reset of Windows 10 on a virtual machine
- The default account name is then the first 5 characters of my email account
- I changed that to my real name
- Rebooted
- I was then offered 2 login accounts
- logged in using my real name
- went into account administration (Settings->Accounts-Family & Other users
- under 'Other users' removed 'Guest' (the first 5 characters)
- rebooted

Now, I was still offered two accounts, but my password did not work.
100% sure I was using the correct password and I have tried a dozen times on both accounts.
Windows then suggested to do a 'Recover your windows live account'

But even with the new password I could not log in...

I was lucky to have a snapshot of an earlier Windows - so I restored the snapshot and Windows is running fine now.

This is a bit of a weird situation.

What if this was on a real machine?
I may need to re-install Windows from scratch. Not so much of a big issue in this case.

However... Windows will surely again offer the 5 character account, 2nd item above.
Q1: Will that then work with the new password? (the new password is combined with my full email address)
Q2: How was I supposed to proceed to avoid this?

Note that:
- on the virtual Windows (VMware) C:\Users\[AccountName] still reads the first 5 characters of my email address (outlook.com)
- on the host-pc C:\Users\[AccountName] is different , being the first 5 characters of hotmail account

My User accounts have all been disabled except one that has my avatar, but isn't the admin account ive been using. it has a different mouse speed for one, and the password isn't the one i've been using for months.

Guest is disabled.

I have tried every password cracker. None of them can figure out the password for said 'unknown' admin account, and some of them like hiren's don't even boot, even though my boot order is CD then WIN.

I even DLed my version of Windows Install AND system restore discs, burnt the iso's correctly, and neither of them will actually boot. My laptop came with no disc and has the internal system restore thing which is why i had to DL them on a different computer.

I need to figure out how to get a cmd prompt before login so i can use "net user administrator /active:yes" or even for the guest account. I know the install/repair discs give c prompt options, but i can't get either of them to boot. and yes i have the boot order so it boots from cd before booting windows.

any help?

I googled around and I found only the solution which is to rename / delete the .BAK keys in registry... but... I DON'T HAVE ANY OF THEM! I can create hundred of account and I'm not able to login, I can just login with admin or standard account previously created!

I tried with a system restore and a system upgrade... NO LUCK AT ALL!

One of the office computers never had a password for the administrator account, and it was the only account ever used by everyone. We set a password and created a limited user account. Now when the admin account is attempted to be logged into the message: "C:\windows\system32\command.com incorrect paramaters" appears. However the limited account will login fine. When the system is started in safe mode, the admin account can be logged into.
I expect that a malware/trojen/whatever may be the culprit. Prior to the issue, Spybot removed 526 problems, but 25 needed a reboot before Spybot could remove them. I ran hijack this and saved the log before any "cleaning" of the system began. Where do I begin to correct this?

A:Admin accounts won't login

Do you use the Welcome Screen or a Logon Box.

If it's the welcome screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Del twice at the Welcome Screen. You should be able to enter the username and password there.

I'd create a second admin account in safe mode if I were you, since you said it lets you logon there.

Luckily I have Ubuntu on the computer.

This just recently happened. My XP Professional was acting funny so I restarted. It was because my Windows Media Player was not starting up. Then when I tried to log-in again, by clicking my account, it loads it, but before I pass the login screen my computer restarts. I tried all of the f8 options, safe mode even does the same thing.

I did get something, when I disabled restart on error, I got something about vct3216.dll being messed up (I forgot what it said).

So my original account I usually use does not work, the other one does. Except that the internet, other programs, and some drivers will not work. It's as if it's a fresh start.

I like Ubuntu, but I would like to be able to use my XP once in a while, please help!

My wife's Hotmail and Yahoo accounts were fine one day and completely gone the next. She had used both accounts the previous day.

She waited 24 hours...then two days and nothing came back. She went up to an internet cafe to try to log in there but no luck. She wrote to Hotmail help. When she typed in her address, it seemed the account didn't seem to exist.

She has another account that was fine. My email accounts (on a different partition were fine.)

We're using XP and a cable hookup. The firewall is on and fine.

She has checked and checked again. It's been a week now and there is no indication that her accounts ever existed.

Any idea as to what may have happened? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

this problem just surfaced a few days ago where i've left my PC vacant ( because i went overseas ).

Currently I have 2 user accounts ( one is Administrator and one is ABC ). Admin is the one which was default and never used. i've always used ABC account ( i set it to auto login and no password demand upon login ) to do all my things. however, now it just logs in automatically to the Administrator account, and all my settings are not in this account. since it was a default account, winxp doesn't allow me to delete it. what can i do in order to login straight to ABC and not login to any other account ever again? also, what caused this problem? would like to know so i can prevent it from happening again. thanks!

A couple days ago I did the upgrade to windows 10 from 7 for my parents on their computer.

The way it was set up in Win 7, after startup you would see a screen with their 2 profile pics and it was easy to just click one and log in. Neither had a password to enter. After the upgrade, my father's account started asking for a password. Years ago he had opened a Hotmail account and Windows apparently links that MS online password to win 10 and started requiring it. Luckily he remembered it and has been able to log in.

The problem is they want things to work the way they did before. They want to log in and switch accounts during the day without my father having to enter a password each time.

I have already tried going to Settings>Accounts>Sign in options and switching the "Require sign-in" setting to never. This didn't seen to do anything.

I also did the Run>netplwiz then uncheck the User must enter password box for My father's account.

Now after shutdown, the computer logs into my Dad's account automatically and bypasses the login screen so my mother has to switch to her account from my Dad's. Then when switching back from mother's to father's account again windows asks for father's password again! It's frustrating as hell.

All they want is for both of them to be able to boot up and click on their account to log in and switch between them without passwords. Is this possible in Windows 10 and if so, how?

A:How to set up no pass login for 2 accounts on 1 computer

Nope. Just signed into my gmail. What page are you signing into? accounts.google.com ?  Did the account use a alternate email to sign in?
Anyone know how to actually contact Google. For being the richest company in the world, they sure have a VERY bad support system. Like worst then Dell and HP.

Whenever I, or my husband, try to enter our gmail accounts we get the message
"Sorry, Google doesn't recognize that email"
I decided to make a new account and this worked for a while but now Gmail does not recognize this email address either even though I have sent and received messages using it.
My husband has his address attached to his Amazon account so its really affecting him.

Could anybody please explain in finite detail how to create an alternative email account in Yahoo and how to verify it ?
My primary account = fred @yahoo.com, username = Fred
I created an alternative account :-
john @yahoo.com, username = John
All seemed to go OK and I received an email from yahoo to my primary account saying that john @yahoo.com was available for use. But this alt. account is marked "Verify" in blue.
Clicking "Verify" gets nowhere and everything I try fails. John does not exist until verified and as I cannot verify John it is useless.
Yahoo say they have sent an email to john @yahoo.com giving the codes etc. needed to verify the account, but as the account is not available until it is verified, the Yahoo email, if it exists cannot be read.
Every attempt I make to access john @yahoo.com is not accepted and after 3 attempts, Yahoo locks it up for 12-24 hours. It is just stuck there doing nothing and is useless.
For Yahoo to send a verification email to an account that does not exist until verified, is about as crazy as one can get. Unbelievable !
All verifying emails should be sent to the primary account which DOES EXIST. so that I can verify an alternative account with no trouble at all.
I have searched the web thoroughly until I am sick of the matter, spent many hours on the issue and got nowhere. I have done everything I can find on the issue from Yahoo Support and dozens of users, but all I achieve is for Yahoo to lock the account up after 3 tries. It... Read more

A:Yahoo mail - Creating alternative accounts

Here is the answer that Yahoo could not define explicitly and users like myself get into one hell of a mess :-
1. You have an existing Yahoo account Fred @yahoo.com, username = Fred. This is the primary account.
2. Log onto yahoo.com.
3. Create a second completely new account by REGISTERING.
4. New account is john @yahoo.com, username = John.
5. Yahoo confirmation is received by John.
6. Verify account by clicking confirmation data.
7. New account is now active for send and receive.
8. You can now ADD the new secondary account to the primary account as an alternative account and vice versa.
9. It all now works, messages can be sent and received between each of your primary and secondary accounts.
THANKS Yahoo, I sorted all this out myself with not a scrap of help from you.

I had posted on this forum a few months back with an issue that turned out to be a trojan. After cleaning the pc I used active kill disc on my HD and reinstalled windows 7. I reinstalled my software and had no problems until about a month after. Passwords changed again. I figured the pass might have been grabbed prior to the trojans removal and perhaps I forgot to change it so I dismissed it. Well my passwords were just changed again, along with my girlfriends gmail account, which she recently logged onto from my computer. I am a software engineer and find myself to be rather tech savy when it comes to computers. m0le! I need you!

Dear all

For the past 12 days I haven't been able to access neither one account from yahoo! nor another one from hotmail.com. Coincidently both are my main e-mail accounts . Each problem started within a few hours from each other, and I hadn't done anything to the laptop's system configuration or changed my internet connection's specifications, anything.

What happens is the following:

At www.hotmail.com: Using IE 6.0:
(1) type name and password,
(2) a little window appears, stating: "You are about to view pages over a secure connection. Any information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed by anyone else on the Web."
(3) Press OK
(4) the browser is blank, and stays like that
With Netscape 7.2 it's completely ok, though.

At yahoo.com:
(1) type name and password

With IE 6.0:
(2) a white-background page appears, full of black characters of all sorts.

With Netscape 7.2:
(2) a little window appears with the message "The file "login" is of type application/octet-stream, and Netscape does not know how to handle this file type. This file is located at: http://e1.f611.mail.yahoo.com/ym/
What should Netscape do with this file?
Open it with the default application
Open it with (waiting for a programs' name)
Save it to disk"

In both hotmail and yahoo! cases, the problem only happens with my laptop and at home, as in uni's computer labs or anywhere else I've tried it's ok. Relaxing IE's secur... Read more

so yahoo is no help (because their help link stinks!)-

But here we go-

I have a yahoo e-mail address (let's pretend it's [email protected]).
I also have a messenger screenname that is username1.

I decided that I wanted another screenname.
So i registered another profile on yahoo (we'll call that screenname username2).

I can log onto my messenger using either name. When I log on, using either screenname, those who know me by username1 see me on their buddy list and those who see me as username2 see me on their buddy list. I see everyone, those on both lists, those on just username1's list, and those on username2's list. Pretty much, my usernames are linked into one messenger list, and when I choose someone to message, it sends the IM from whatever list they are on (either username1 or username2).

So, I then decided that I wanted to e-mail someone who knows me by username2.

so I go to www.mail.yahoo.com and I type in username2 and my password.
When the mail account come up, it's the account for username1. NOT COOL!

So i keep messing with it, and every time i log in to my mail using username2 as my userID, I still get the account for [email protected].

Being the curious person that I am, I go to my university e-mail account and send an e-mail to [email protected].

I get a mailerdaemon notice in my university e-mail box that says:
"<[email protected]>: failed after I sent the message.
