Random lines in PowerPoint on Yoga 460

Q: Random lines in PowerPoint on Yoga 460

Hello, I have a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Windows 10 Pro.When I'm in PowerPoint and drawing with the pen, I randomly get a straight horizontal line, about 5cm long and to the left from the place where my pen was at the moment. I haven't noticed it in any other applications and I can't reliably reproduce it. I'm not touching the screen with my hand either.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

All, I've just moved from a Yoga S1 (12) to the Yoga 260.  It's great, but I have a very strange screen artifact.  The issue is, I can see veritcal lines that you can see on your screen whenever it has moved recently. For example, when just opening the lid, or when using it in a train or car.  These are most obvious when the display is cold. It's most obvious on blue. If for example I look "full screen" at this image:http://www.wsllpaper.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/blue-sky-and-mountains-hd-desktop-wallpaper.jpgjust after I open my computer from sleep, they are really visible. I can make them appear by vibrating my laptop like putting on my lap and bouncing my knee. Or by tapping the side of the display. It's easiest to see when the room lighting is dark and the laptop is set to maximum brightness. The lines are across the whole screen, and perhaps about 6 or 7 pixels apart. Each is vertical and spans the whole height of the screen from top to bottom. I think they are a real physical thing, not a display artifact - that is, I think they're wires or sensors or something for the new active pen or for the touchscreen. They seem to be harder to make visible when the laptop has been on for a long time, that is, after the screen has warmed up.  They're very, very easy to make appear when the display is cold and has just turned on. Does anyone have this issue as well?  Should I learn to love it, or send it back?  The laptop i... I'm not seeing it here on your test image. Could that be some kind of image retention? If you could capture a phone pic I can compare it with my 1-day old Yoga 260. If there are any other repro steps other than waking up from sleep please feel free to include that as well.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 that is having issues with the GPU (I believe)When I start it up, the bios screen displays OK usually for a few seconds then it displays a screen full of very thin horizontal colored lines and more often what resembles colored snow (like old TV's)It does the same with an ext monitor.I assume it is a GPU issue but doesn't appear to be a thermal issue.I have it opened up and the heat sink is not even warm when it does this.I already tried new RAM- no change. At one point I got it to display OK for about 10 minutes after doing the bios battery disconnect/ hold power button down trick. I could not get it to do that again Tried pressing down on chips around GPU area- no changeI am thinking it needs a new motherboard but before taking that chance, I wanted to check if there could be anything else that could cause this.I was thinking of booting up from a bootable thumb drive to see if it is Windows related or video driver related. If I need a mobo, any tips on where to get one at a decent price?I haven't had much luck with China boards.

Recently, I noticed that my Yoga2 Pro's display keeps blinking and flashing whenever I interchange from Adobe Reader to Google Chrome. The display will just turn black for 1 sec and turn back ON again. Same issue with Office software such as Powerpoint or Excel. If I just work on 1 program and don't interchange programs, the display will be fine. I am very sure it is a display driver issue and it occurs after Win 10 updates. Booting in Safemode also will prevent that problem from happening. The Display driver listed on this website is not working http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/YOGA-SERIES/YOGA-2-PRO-LENOVO/downlo... and will have the same issue with Intel 4400... I know that this model is obsolete and the warranty is expired. But this is obviously SW update/Driver issue with Win 10. Could someone from Lenvo help to fix this? Thanks a lot!

Can someone please tell me how to apply random transitions to slides in Powerpoint 2007. I realise it is a dum but simple question.
The only thing in the help file is:
Add different slide transitions to the slides in your presentation
But refers to manual selection. The old powerpoint allowed you to selection all slides and aply all transitions randomly without doing it manually.

A:Powerpoint query or random transitions

When you have your document open click on the "animation" tab you will see all the transition icons and if you hover over them they will show you what the transition looks like - scroll down through them until you see one that has a question mark on it - it is the "random transitions" one. Click on it then just to the right of it is an "apply to all" button.

Anyone heard of this issue before?
Random words repeat during the presentation, but not during the edit screen. It only does it on one computer, and its fine on all the others in the network. Here's where it gets interesting: the computer's hdd is reimaged every time it restarts . Anyone know what would be causing this?

Problem with this specific image? Or is this same image also used on other powerpoint functioning correctly machines?

Currently, whenever I use Firefox, I get random black lines across the screen whenever I scroll down. This happens only in Firefox and not in IE or Opera. If I scroll down fast, the lines are farther apart. If I scroll down the page slow, they are closer together. This happens in Firefox Safe Mode as well, with default theme and no addons enabled. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but to no avail, as the problem still occurs. The lines disappear whenever I restore down or maximize the screen, although they reappear when I scroll down (but not when I scroll up.) They only started occurring when I updated to the newest Firefox. I did, however, install my new motherboard drivers just a little bit before the problem started happening, though I don't think that that has any effect. I reinstalled my display drivers as well (NVIDIA) thinking that that might be the problem, but it wasn't. Anyone have any clue what the problem might be and a possible way to solve it? Here are a couple pictures of what the lines look like:

A:Random Black Lines

The next time it happens try changing your resolution back and forth to see if it gets better.
Additionally, what's the CPU usage in Task Manager when you open Fx and see this?

It sounds like a bad LCD panel, video cable or the connection. Power on the computer and keep tapping the F8 key then select Safe Mode with Networking. See if the problem appears on screen. You can also choose Low Resolution VGA mode (or something like that) from the F8 menu. That will help determine whether it's hardware or software related.

Hi,
I’ve read a couple of posts with similar problems, not sure if mine is the same thing. I have an HP Pavilion dv6t-1300 laptop, roughly 5 months old with:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.2 GHz
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator/ Mobil Intel 4 series express chipset
This has only happened a handful of times, but it has basically been once a day since it’s started. I’ll have closed my laptop for a period of time, and then when I return and open it up, the screen will have these pixilated vertical lines. They’re not stationary, they disappear/reappear as I move my cursor and open/close programs (ie, not all the lines appear on the screen all the time, one column might be there, then a few others will flash on screen, then just a cross-section of the columns will appear—constant movement). Screencap doesn’t capture the lines, just the images beneath. I’ve attached photos to this post showing the display when this happens. I also posted a video on youtube showing how the lines move & change: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4io1KqJ2jU .
I’ve updated & run my Symantec anti-virus scan, with no results. This laptop has never been dropped, damaged, etc during the 5 months I’ve had it, so I can’t imagine it’s a problem with the physical screen. (?) Is this a virus? Problem with my graphics card? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Can anyone give me a clue as to what causes these weird lines? I used to see them very occasionally when playing Star Wars Galaxies with an ATI x700, but as of today I've updated to a GeForce 6600 and they're everywhere on Oblivion.

There seems to be no set pattern to them, worse when moving, and shift positions when you Alt+Tab out and back into the game.

I've updated with newest NVidia drivers, checked the connections, cleaned out any dust hiding around, installed a new 400w PSU, and played around for ages with the games resolutions and options, but not hit a solution so far.

Anyone got an idea? Thanks very much.

The other day when viewing a powerpoint presentation I clicked to go to the next slide as usual, but then the computer starting clicking through many slides by itself and couldn't stop running through them. Now I can't control the process of any slideshow because the computer takes over and rushes through a couple every few seconds.

I noticed this now happens with facebook photos, as I press 'Next' onto the next photo and the computer intermittently tries to run through the whole album by itself.

I know this is a fairly obscure problem, but was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions?

Thanks.

Sounds like your mouse has turned against you. Try using another mouse (in different ports if you're using USB) and see if that changes anything.

To me it looks as if your mouse can't work out when you've released the button, and is telling the computer you've continued to click.

Hi, I am getting random lines or colors when I go to desktop or hit refresh. It appears randomly. While playing games, running other applications, it doesn't seem to appear, but still, it appears randomly. Here is an image of a same web page, opened in two different tabs. You can see that in the rightmost part of the screen(where we have the option to scroll the web page) there are two tiny lines of red color. Its there in one tab, but not in any of the other tabs in the browser. Here are those two tabs.

There is also a small white-squared box near the right side, but that one is my mouse cursor.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey guys,

My problem is with a 4 year old dell. A week or two ago, I went to turn the computer on and noticed vertical lines of random color forming on the Windows XP loading screen. The computer then rebooted before loading to the desktop and repeated it's endless boot cycle.

I then booted the computer in safe mode (which I was able to do), and disabled my display adapter (An NVidia Geforce 4 Ti4200 AGP Card). After disabling that, I was able to boot the computer using 8-bit color. It looks really crappy, pretty much no color, but I am able to boot and use the computer.

My question is if anyone has heard of this problem before, and if it could be anything besides the video card dying on me. I was planning on fixing the problem by buying a new video card, but wanted to make sure that it was really the video card before I proceeded to make a purchase.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ive been a comp tech for a few years now and this is the weirdest problem ive ever seen. First their hard drive died. After running DFT on the drive, i diagnosed it was the SMART controller. They Purchased a new WD. After I installed windows on the machine, I noticed strange blue lines appearing during BIOS and the Win XP splash screen. When I got into windows I noticed that the names for the login were faded looking. Once in windows it self, if you hit the start button all the icons look like they mesh together and dont display right unless I mouse over them. And in windows when I open IE, next to the cursor there are 3 vertial pink lines. Anyone got any clue on this one? The correct Drivers are installed and still getting the same problem.

Also, On this Sony Vaio they have a "recovery" parition on the orginal HD, but because the SMART is going dead I cant boot into Normal mode or "Setting that worked last" . Is there anyway I can pull it off and install that version of windows on here so i can get my spare copy and key back? I can access the files when the drive is the Slave but I dont want to fart around with the drive with it being on its last leg.

Sony PCV-RZ10C JIC anyone is wondering.

A:Sony Vaio and Random Blue Lines and other wonderful problems??

Found the problem with the lines. It seems that the video card (GeForce 4 ASUS) was going bad. Replaced it with my old Voodoo3 3000 and it runs like a champ. Having no more issues with funy graphics. New hard drive is now working fine. JIC anyone gets the same problem.

Still need to know if anyone knows how to get the partition off the drive with windows on the new HD, so i can get my key back. Thanks.

Whenever I turn on my computer with Windows 8 installed, I always get this Blue Screen. However, what's curious is that it doesn't display any message at all! It just displays random horizontal lines on my screen. Whatever key I press on my keyboard and no matter how many times and wherever I click with my mouse, not a single thing happens. So, I have no other choice but to hold the power button on my CPU manually to turn the computer off and on again. The same thing happens when I do that: I get the Blue Screen again after resetting. I try to turn the computer off and on again by using the same method to do so, and only then will the computer eventually launch Automatic Repair, therefore forcing me to boot into safe mode with networking instead.

It has been this way for several weeks now, and I am beginning to use my computer in safe mode on a regular basis. I know that I shouldn't do this since safe mode is mainly used to fix the computer; however, I have tried running all my antivirus software and spyware removal tools, to no avail. There aren't any viruses on my computer, and every single driver is up to date. I am also starting to lose hope since I can't even open some of the programs that I need the most such as Microsoft Office and other programs that I need for my schoolwork. Furthermore, since I am in safe mode, my printer was also uninstalled, thereby rendering it useless and forcing me to ask other people to print my schoolwork for me.

Random Blue Thin/Dotted Lines on My HP Laptop Screen

I hooked an external monitor to my laptop and the image is perfect. Another odd thing is when I screen capture the bluelines and view the image file on another PC, they do not show.

Then it went to Windows Xp loading screen as usual, but this time I noticed there were some lines going though the words "Windows Xp" after it'd finished loading the screen went black and nothing happned. Inexpensive option - borrow a monitor to eliminate yours from your enquiries. Don't even think about a graphics card man enough to handle WoW until you're sure that's the problem.

Hello all.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 and at random times the display will flicker with horizontal lines. I can sometimes agitate it by gently twisting the LCD and it will flicker. I've done some research before and thought the problem would be the flex video cable, which I ordered and installed, but it still flickers. The LCD looks cosmetically perfect, as well as the inverter. The display backlight isn't flickering, rather there are white lines that flicker randomly, so I don't think it's the inverter.

I hooked it up via VGA to an external machine and only the laptop suffered the flicking so I believe that the graphics card is fine.

Here's a video on what I'm talking about.

Ok so my new bfg nforce4 mobo is installed in my comp. I formated my partition and reinstalled xp. But I'm getting intermitent graphic issues. When I first boot up I get Short horizontal green lines running in vertical rows up and down the screen. Plus most dashes in my text with the occasional number or letter and space. Then windows starts and I get blue cuts horizontally across the screen. This doesn't happen ALL the time. It seems to occur when I install new software that is related to video. I installed a new game demo and it happend. It also happend when I installed the video drivers and a few other programs. It seems to be fixed when I pull out the video card and put it back in. Oh and after I installed the most recent program that caused this I was getting a no keyboard error for the first few reboots.

I have absolutely zero idea what this could be. The video card is new from BFG who sent it to me back when I thought my bad mobo was caused by my video card.

An update:

I checked my Device Manager and I've got a nice little "!" that says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" Dunno what the means exactly in relation to my problem, though maybe someone else does?

Another thing...I installed an old PCI card and the comp booted up fine no problems at all. But the card I'm trying to get to work is a PCI-E card so even though it sounds like it could be the card it could still also be something else right? I just recently RMA'd the video card even though it didn't need it (long story: my mobo was the problem, which is why I got a new one) and it took them over two months and 3 cards before they were able to mail me back the right formatted card, so I loath to send this one in again.

Every some time I do something (for example opening a new tab in chrome) one of my speakers (randomized, usually left) make a weird loud pop noise. It also can be caused by opening fix sound problems or somewhat. Help please! EDIT: Also, it only happens when the laptop is on battery.

If you swap to the High Performance power profile, does it go away or reduce in severity? What about disconnecting from wifi?

This is the second major problem with my X1 Yoga. Not only does the touchscreen driver crash "all the time" but the fingerprint reader does not operate about 30% of the time. Not sure what the cause/effect is because it's not consistent. For instance the light above it sometimes comes on and you can unlock the device. Other times it doesn't and it either works or doesn't. So the light is not consistent with it being ready to unlock. Other times perhaps from sleep or screensaver having locked the machine the only way in is via the password.  As suggested by Leonvo support I installed the latest drivers. But it's made zero difference.http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-X-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-X1-...

I have a similar problem, but for me the behaviour is more consistent: After a reboot everything works fine but after sleep the LED isn't on and login doesn't work.Pretty embarrasing

I also have 20DM-000VUS, not sure about the original BIOS version though since I downgraded using the files on the Lenovo site (but definitely downgraded).

I just got my laptop back from the shop and I\ve been running it for ~1 hour now and so far so good. The shop replaced Power and IO Subcards "FRU 00HN613 and FRU 00HN612".

PS. Now the left USB is not working at all. Afaik it was also replaced. Already talked to the shop and I have to take the laptop back, they will replace it again.

A:Re: Thinkpad S3 Yoga 14 - Random shut offs when no...

I just recently got the new Thinkpad Yoga 14, and I can't say I'm very happy with it. Windows 8.1 is pretty weird, but I guess Lenovo can't do anything about that. However, I am having a problem that seems to be a problem with the machine rather than the software. Frequently, the computer will just shut off without warning. This can happen as soon as I unplug the computer from its charger, or it can happen several minutes after being unplugged. The battery icon says that there is over 90% battery remaining, so it shouldn't be dying. It's very frustrating because there is no warning, no error notification (unless I just don't know where to look). The computer can be turned on immediately after without any problem, and the battery icon still shows a very high power percentage. Does anyone have any insight on this?

Hey. I have a Yoga 15 ThinkPad Notebook and have been having an issue. The issue occurs randomly through use (even during boot and safe mode). The laptop will vibrate and the system will act as if the windows key has been pressed. Pressing the windows key itself or touching the screen does not cause the vibrate function to occur so I'm not sure where this is coming from? If I'm using TeamViewer to view another PC from the Yoga 15, the remote terminal reacts similarly; acting as if the windows key has been pressed (at random intervals, sometimes not for 10-20 minutes, other times 3+ successively in a short period. Because it even occurs during boot without the OS being loaded I imagine it is a hardware issue, is there a particular peripheral that would cause the vibrate and windows key hit that I could disable? Previously on Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10, this issue has persisted through both operating systems. Any advice would be nice. Thanks    ----------Edit:Moments after posting I realized that there is a windows logo on the screen panel bezel and if I touch that the laptop vibrates. Is there any way to disable this particular part of the digitizer? Or does it have a specific HID driver that I can disable? Also, this does occur in all orientations and screen modes.

Unfortunately, I was unable to locate what this device is listed as under Device Manager. If you do find it then there is the possibility to disable the vibration device.

I have a Yoga Thinkpad 14 which was purchased on Jan 6 2016 from Lenovo. So the thinkpad is still under warranty. Lately, I have been experiencing random shutdowns and keyboard lockups. I am just browsing as normal. This used to be fine but not is problematic. I'm receiving 3-4 shutdowns a day. The battery is fully powered and it doesn't matter if the power cord is attached or not. It's not a sleep issue or lid closing issue. It just happens to lockup or shutdown and I don't know when it will do it. I ran the LSC diagnostics and everything was fine. No error codes. I think this might be a hardware issue as no new software or hardware has been loaded and it's been ok for 6 months until now. I can submit a service request but before I do that, are there any suggestions ?

I have had this computer for about 6 months. In the last 3 weeks when I open it after sleep mode for a few hours the display flickers violently, blacks out and sometimes freezes. It sometimes does come back when I hold or apply a bit of pressure to the display - i.e. not just touching the display, rather, holding the front and back and lightly applying pressure, such as when you want to change the angle. Sometimes it shows a series of horizontal lines with the flickering and the image fades out. Other times when it recovers the image is clear but there is still a flicker. I sometimes have to close and reopen the screen. This is happening randomly but with increased frequency, at least once or twice daily. Also, I don't know when it happened but recently the camera also stopped working. A few days ago I updated the camera and video drivers and the camera is back but the display still exhibits this behaviour. Today I was trying to record something with the camera and the display froze and gave me this error, which I found completely useless:"Something went wrong. If you need it here's the error code: 0xA00F4271(0xC00D36ED)" Any ideas? I think maybe there is some issue with the physical display but not sure.

Hi

I have a Windows XP pc with Ofiice 2003 on it.

Everytime I open Powerpoint, create a presentation and click "save as", the default file type is a Powerpoint 95 presentation.

I've set it to "Powerpoint presentation" under Tools>Options>Save Tab.
Closed and opened Powerpoint, tried again, same problem.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing a registry change but I would not know where to look. I recreated the 11.0 key, same problem.

I have a very perplexing situation on my hands.
I have 2 PowerPoint files that crash PowerPoint when attempting to open them. The problem is that this is only happening on some computers. All the machines I have attempted to open the files on are running Windows 7 and have Office 2010 installed. The computers also have Office 2010 SP1 install so I have ruled that out as an issue as well.
Any ideas?

A:PowerPoint file crashes PowerPoint upon opening

Can you see the presentation file inside your thumb drive? If not, then TMP file may help you restore them or you need a third-party recovery software here. I don't know much about such data recovery software since I never used any. But if the PPT file is there inside your thumb drive, then there are fair chances to repair it by using Open and Repair.

If this doesn't repair your PPT file, then you must go for a third-party PPT recovery software. I have used such a software in my past. It was PowerPoint Repair Kit software what I used to repair my corrupted PPT file. You may check its free demo version as I did. Just search it on Google or you may read this article http://www.powerpoint.repair/

I came to know about this software from this article.

Hope this information will be helpful.

Regards.

Hello community, My Yoga once stucked on 0,48GHz, became almost useless and there was no option to anyhow increase it. I tried every power plan and nothing worked. I saw a similar thread here about Yoga 11 and they advised to update BIOS, but I've done it abount month ago using latest version from 2016 - BACNA0WW so I thought that it's stupid. But after hours of annoying tries I finally installed the same BIOS again and it somehow managed to return to normal 2,2GHz and more...It was about 1 week ago and today the same thing happened... Additionally I observed that when I charged my Yoga Windows indicated that "Power connected - NOT CHARGING' but of course it was charging and percents of battery were getting bigger... And after some tries I 'updated' the same BIOS again and my toubles ( 0,48GHz and max 20% of processor workload and bad battery indicator) went away... Besides that I struggle with some random turn downs (sleep modes) I observed that my Yoga turns down sometimes because for a short moment there is let's say abou 5% of battery and computer wants to save it so it go to sleep. I noticed that sometimes I certailny had about 90-95% and all of the sudden I had a warning that battery is low, only 7% left! and after 10 seconds it was back to 92%.... (haha turn down just  happened while I was writing this) I am really disappointed with this laptop... I dont want to send it for guarantee repair bacause it's my only computer... And I think it's not the b... Read more
