Creative Sound Blaster Live 24 Bit - No Subwoofer

Q: Creative Sound Blaster Live 24 Bit - No Subwoofer

Hi Guys!

I hope I'll get an useful answer here!

My problem is that i don't get any bass out of my subwoofer, my system (as i configurate) recognizes my subwoofer, but as soon as i listen to music there's no sound coming out of it!
My other speakers work, but only the bass is missing!

I wanted to install the console launcher from CD, but in Setup windows said "couldn't find any compatible hardware. Setup will be closed"

But i do not find any latest console launcher in Creative technical support, that's compatible with my Live 24 bit soundcard.

I started this thread, because i couldn't contact any other user who's problem was solved ^^

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit external. I've installed Win7 beta drivers from creative. com (1.01.0092). But no sound is comming form subwoofer. When I open creative audio control panel I don't have bass redirection tab, like in WinXP. Did anyone have the same problem?

I also do not have any sound from my subwoofer when I play normal music. When I'm watching TV and the station supports 5.1 sound then all is ok. It's only stereo musik where it does not work.

Any ideas?

A:Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 live

There are some Creative (SoundBlaster) cards that are not supported in Vista/Windows 7. Vista/Windows 7 handles some sound functions differently and the reason XP drivers will not work.

I don't have any info on the reference supportpack 2.0.

If the rest of the PC is Win 7 compatible and you have adequate RAM, (2 GB MINIMUM) then the best thing is to just upgrade to a Windows 7 PCI sound card. Here is one for $25 from newegg.com that is compatible and the $25 shouldn't break the bank. Newegg.com - Rosewill RC-702 7.1 Channels 16-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card

The sound card of my PC is a Creative Sound Blaster Live! Value 1024 (that I bought in the end of 2001). So, it?s not a new device?

selection is limited to 2.1 and 4.1 speakers. i even tried changing in Audio HQ and
i dont see any option for 5.1 speakers other than this i have even downloaded new version of software still the same problem is repeated .........

so, I would like some opinions about what can be happening?

Any information / hint will be very appreciated!

Hi all!

I am having a strange problem with the sound card of my back-up PC, and I need some technical help

The sound card of my PC is a Creative Sound Blaster Live! Value 1024 (that I bought in the end of 2001). So, it?s not a new device?

Anyways, I never had any trouble with it? Recently, I am having an intermittent sound when I play some (few) games, as F1 2002 and F1 Challenge (and its respective mods). ALWAYS, when I begin some race, the sound begins to fail, in an intermittent way, for a short time (from 10 seconds to 40 seconds), and, after this, no more any problem with the sound, until the end of the respective race ? The worst is that, while the sound is failing, the FPS decreases hardly, what is really odd!!? When I use the on-board sound of my MoBo, there is not any problem? Unfortunately, the quality of the on-board sound card is very worse than of my Creative card; that?s because I really would like to use the better device, if possible?

I can?t observe this kind of problem in any other racing game that I have (with all them, the sound works great, all time)?

As I have not changed any setting of these 2 specific games (this is a very recent issue), and the sound works normally with all others games, I really can?t believe that there is a hardware damage? In order to try to solve this weird problem, I have already re-installed it respective driver, but no success?

I am not an expert on these matters (far from this); so, ... Read more

Hi there.

I have very strange kind of problem happened to my father's PC.
This PC has Creative SB Live! 24-bit and Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

I have installed latest available drivers from Creative website and Creative P17X Support Pack.
So what have I noticed:
Subwoofer is working. I can hear it using channel test.
Subwoofer is working while audio is playing using jetAudio (but there is no sound from side speaker)
Subwoofer is not working using ANY other audio source, such as Winamp, foobar2000 and, what is the most strange, Creative MediaSource5 Organizer
Subwoofer is connected correctly. I have seen a lot of advises like "check your connection"

This problem wasn't noticed on Windows XP with this sound card.

Bass Redirection is enabled in Creative Entertainment Console, but there is no option to enable/disable it in Creative Audio Control Panel.

I hope you are able to help me.

Best regards, Mikhail.

A:Creative SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit (internal, PCI) - No subwoofer.

What speaker system is connected? If it is a 2.1 speaker system (two small speakers and a bass speaker) there is only one connection to the speaker system and internally in the speaker system (usually in the bass speaker) is the electronics that controls the audio distribution to the speakers. With a 2.1 speaker system, the sound card just feeds all the audio through the one connection to the speaker system, it doesn't differentiate between bass and other frequencies, that is done in the speaker system.

I am going to be purchasing a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro sound card and a Creative GigaWorks S750 7.1 Speaker System and I was wondering, if the X-Fi Elite Pro comes with its own control and in/out console box, and if I connect the sound card to the console box, how exactly do I connect the console box to the GigaWorks S750 subwoofer so I could have the full 7.1 surround sound feel to my room? And do I need the console box connected to the sound card at all to get the 7.1 surround sound quality?

These are good reviews of the X-Fi Elite Pro sound card -These reviews also show you and explain to you what the connections are and what cables come with the Sound Card

This is a good reviews of the GigaWorks S750 7.1 Speaker System -This review shows you the connections at the back of the subwoofer

A:Solved: How to connect a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro to a Creative GigaWorks S750?

I've had a couple of Creative sound cards with the console. They have been the internal models, but I don't think the setup of the external console would be any different. I apologize if I am not correct with what follows since I don't have personal experience with your setup. However, the general arrangement is that your satellites plug into the subwoofer and the subwoofer connects to plugs on the back of the sound card (which is 7.1). And that's it. Speaker controls are done with a utility within Windows. The external console has a headphone jack with a volume control for that. All the other plugs and controls are for things other than your speakers. In fact for most individuals the console is not a necessary item.

Edit: I went to the Creative Web site and I found this line "Easy control of Sound Blaster X-Fi through the convenient, external break-out-box". So I guess it does more than the usual consoles. Hard to tell from the picture. Speaker setup should be the same.

New 17 R3 delivered today.  No subwoofer.  Really subpar sound from working front speakers.  However, headphones work well and eq works great with them.
Is there a chance that the subwoofer isn't connected?  No sound at all coming from it.
Checked device manager and everything is fine.  Tried installing driver from Dell found in my account.  Still no subwoofer sounds at all, not even a crackle.
Seems weird for a new AW build to be missing subwoofer functionality.

I recently purchased the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX and am having problems getting it to actually play any audio or record any sound.

I've browsed other threads with similar issues on this board and as such have disabled my motherboards onboard audio in my BIOS settings, have reinstalled the drivers from disc and from the Creative website, and even attempted to use Driverpack Online to download any missing drivers. However my problem still persists.

I can see that the Sound Blaster Audigy FX is present on the sound option on the control panel, but it never actually plays any sound. Additionally, whenever I try to play a test sound in the speakers advanced properties I am returned with the error "Failed to play test tone".

I've included a few screenshots that might help make things a bit more clear, and I'd be very appreciative of any help I can get with this issue.

First thing, I assume you have correctly attached your speakers to the new SoundBlaster.

As you have a separate sound card, did you disable any on-board (on the motherboard) audio in the BIOS? If not, that is the first step. The on-board, is still enabled, can conflict with the SoundBlaster.

Also, temporarily disable the AMD HD audio in the Device Manager for testing (the AMD is for HDMI audio). Reboot after doing this.

Finally, although this has may not have any affect on playback, the default recording device should be the SoundBlaster "What You Hear". In the Recording sound panel, RIGHT click in an empty area and then check to show Disconnected and Disabled devices. If the SoundBlaster was installed correctly What You Hear should now show up and you can enable it and make it the default recording device.

Hello. I installed a new Creative Sound Blaster Zx sound card and installed the drivers from the CD and have found that the controls/features from the Z-Series control panel are not activating. The video within the control panel itself runs but there is no sound. Windows shows there is sound playing from it though but nothing can be heard. Do I need to turn something else on or adjust more audio settings somewhere?

As another note, before I was able to install the drivers from the cd itself, Windows had automatically installed something after recognizing the new hardware, then I ran the driver CD. I also had a previous external sound blaster audio card/driver that I was using before.

Thank you for the help. Have a great day!

It might be slightly different for whichever OS you're using (XP or 7) but there should be an "Audio Control Panel" inside the main system control panel; In the Audio Control Panel change the "Speaker Configuration" to 5.1.

Not only that but Sound Blaster comes with "News Update" Spyware for the consumer to start enjoying Immediatly upon intallation. I use both Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D to wipe these wonderful additions off my computer BUT there is one file (NEWS) folder that cannot be removed with either of these remove programs. You have to go into safe mode and delete it manually there. I can't say enough about how wonderful that is of Creative to include this garbage for us without telling anyone. OK here is my question.....I have a file missing CTDproxy.dll and therefore I have no sound on my computer. I went to find files and it is in my machine but it's not working. I have deleted and reinstalled my sound card software 5 times and still that file is missing. About a year ago I purchased the XFi USB Soundblaster and I was able to get it working. I have not used it since then and about a week ago I tried to install it again but could just not get it to work.

I contacted their support and they kept referring me to tutorial links, which I have followed and they didn't work for me.

My problem is, that everything is installed and updated (drivers & software), yet the volume control on the external hardware does not change the volume on the computer, so basically the computer is receiving the XFi's protocol.

If you could post some suggestions I'd really appreciate it since this is my last option before going to PCWorld or some other place to get it fixed.

Well, my audio drivers and system seems completely fried. Earlier this week, I updated my Creative X-Fi Sound Blaster drivers to the July 30, 2009 update. I restarted and everything got messed up. Mouse drivers dead, display drivers dead, audio drivers dead,
internet drivers dead. Unfortunately, I thought that it was just the audio drivers that were causing the problem. As a result, I fiddled around with the audio drivers and audio control panel a bit too much, and most of them got deleted. I then tried installing
the 7-30-2009 update again, and I got a BSOD as a result. I performed a system restore and got back to the state right before I installed. It was around then that I discovered that it was not just the audio drivers messing everything up, but rather a complete
failure of various drivers due to the audio driver installation. I fixed my mouse, display, and internet drivers by reloading them via device manager. But the audio didn't work. Apparently something I'd fiddled around with earlier messed it up. Luckily, I
discovered that most of my drivers and programs had been backed up, so I restored those drivers and audio programs back to where they were supposed to be. I reloaded, nothing. System restore won't work, as I unfortunately seem to not have any restore points
from before the disaster.
If I delete all drivers for the device via device manager, I get an audio device called High Definition Audio Device, which is actually my X-Fi, and it seems aft... Read more

I was trying to get my mic to work with a sound card called "Creative Sound Blaster 2 Z5" I updated all the software and the mic is seen by the software. I attach what setting I have right now. The sound is coming out my system mobo to my speakers and mic. My mic is get power via USB and has audio and sound jacks. I have the microphone jack is plug in to the SB 2 Z5. I'm trying to run a podcast with different audio channels so that why I got this card. Thank you for any help you can give.

A:Creative Sound Blaster 2 Z5 - Mic Not Functioning

The first thing you need to do, if you want to use the SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS (an old model sound card that was used on many Dell Windows XP systems) is to disable the Realtek (integrated audio) in the BIOS. Two sound cards enabled can conflict and cause a lot of problems. In addition, Windows will only allow one default audio playback device.

Since you have the SoundBlaster, set the "What U Hear" as the default recording device. Then whatever device is plugged in, such as a mic or the line in, it will be heard on the speakers and available to record. In addition you need the What U Hear to be able to record streaming audio from the Internet.

I'm confused by your statements that the mic is getting power from the USB, but plugged into the mic jack on the SoundBlaster card. What type of mic do you have? A USB mic? a standard P.A. type mic? A Computer Mic? (I have a recording studio using Sonar X2 software). A standard computer mic gets its power from the "ring" connection on the sound card's mic jack. A USB mic does not even use the sound card.

I recently built a new computer. Everything fired up and is running just fine! My sound card arrived later and I cannot seem to get it to work. I plugged it into the PCIe Slot with a little difficulty. The metal bar that faces out the back of my PC was wedged between my mobo and case.
When I booted my computer up it told me it detected a new PCIe card and that I needed to enter my BIOS to switch from PCIe 2&4 to PCIe 2&4 and Front USB 3.0. Not sure what that meant, but I hit DEL to enter my BIOS. I went in and couldn't figure out what to change so I saved and Exited. My computer booted up fine but did not detect my sound card.
When I had the card plugged into the PCIe slot, the screw hole on the metal bar didn't align with my case so I had to used a little force to get it aligned and screwed in. Ive tried unplugging and plugging the card back in, but I never get the message that a new PCIe card is detected and my computer doesn't recognize a sound card.
Could it be when I move it over to plug in the card isn't all the way in the slot? Could the long metal bar on the card be the problem? How would I rectify that? Am I missing a setting in my BIOS? I am trying to install the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy RX into an ASUS z270E Mobo. The PCIe slot I am using is the only one available as my 1080 Ti is blocking 2 others and the 1st PCIe slot wont fit it either due to the mobo.

Thank you for any help!

Hey guys,

I've been combing the internet searching for an answer to this problem, maybe you guys could help.

So, let me first explain what I'm trying to do... Well, it's simple I'm trying to record Audio at 44.1kHz 16bit Stereo sound, y'know the usual format.

So, my problem is that when I have my card set to "Audio Creation Mode" the inputs and volumes all work perfectly fine but when I start to record from my "Line In 2" the signal from that input mutes. The Soundcard still records the audio from the signal, but I can not hear it, which proves to make recording on time with other samples very, very difficult.

My first instinct was to set the card to "Game", or "Entertainment" mode. The problem here is, is that when I record (all same settings) the volume will not exceed -6dB before overdriving the signal. I can monitor the signal when I record in this mode but I can't get accurate (or even sufficient) decibels for recording.

I've tried using the bit-matched setting and that just makes the problem worse, for the fact that it just mutes all sounds going into the card and won't let me record.

I'm sure that this has to do with signal routing through the card, but I have little to no idea how to go about doing that, if anyone has any ideas that would be greatly appreciated.

ok so i buy a new sound card (Sound Blaster creative 5.1 ) today and i installed it in a pci slot. I turned on the computer and it doesn't detect it, even if i go in to my control panel > device manager. I then try a different slot and it still doesn't detect it. i then goto my bios and disable onboard audio AC97 but the sound blaster still didn't get detected. I thought my sound card could be broken so I took this sound card and installed it on to my bro's computer which is an AMD Athlon 1.2 ghz Thunder bird and the sound blaster gets detected! What's wrong with my computer? Why can't it be detected? Is it the mother board?? cause if it is, then wouldn't ALL pci slots not work? When i switched the slots for the sound card, i switched it to a slot where it DID work with my network card was inserted before. I doubt my mother board is broken physically but i DO think it has to do with my bios. Help please!

Please go to Start the run, type in exactly:

If it is exit out
If it isn't, double click on it, and change the Startup to automatic, then restart (for the new PCI card to be detected).

Also, confirm that you are an Administrator account

Greetings everyone,

I just received my new sound card and I'm excited to try it out. I've hooked it up and connected my headphones into the proper jack. I try out the audio and it's bloody awful, worse than on-board audio (which is not too bad). I don't know what's wrong, this (I hope) shouldn't be happening. I installed the latest drivers and through the Creative control panel and I've setup my audio output as headphones. When I test the audio the left and right outputs don't come out of left or right, it comes out the "middle". As if there is absolutely no directional sound. I've also tried out my music and it's as if there are large chunks of sound missing. Something is really wrong with my setup or the hardware. The headphones are fine as are the drivers.

My Astro A40 headphones connect to an Astro MixAmp (amp?) which used an optical connection to connect to my motherboard. As seen in the image, I'm using the Realtek Digital Output because it provides phenomenal sound that is infinitely better than the Astro drivers. For some reason, this output even provides me with 5.1 surround sound that I don't even have to configure (it's by default).

When I connect my headphones directly to my sound card I can only use the "Speaker" output which is provided by Sound Blaster Z. This is where the issue happens; quality is a nightmare.

I appreciate any assistance.

To get an output in the headphone jack, I need to switch it using the SB control panel.

That doesn't work for you?

I just installed a creative 5.1 channel soundblaster soundcard. The problem is that when I connect it up to my 5.1 sound system, the subwoofer is not working. Everything else is working, including the centre speaker which uses the same jack as the subwoofer.

Here are the details:
Sound card: Creative SoundBlaster 5.1 It has 4 jacks, 3 is for output (Front, Rear, Centre/Sub) and the other one is for line in and microphone.

Sound System: iBall booster 5.1

i have checked all the connection

I tested the speakers with a 5.1 dvd player. Everything is working, including the subwoofer.

I dont know why the subwoofer is not working when I connect it to the sound card.

Thanks for allowing people access to your site. Could do with some help.

I have a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Extigy. It's a nice card for what it is, but its outdated drivers may be causing problems, as the latest drivers available at a Creative's site are from WAY back in 2002.

Does anyknow know where I could obtain better beta/updated drivers to help with games compatibility? Or is that a lost cause?

Also, on a related matter, does anyone know where I could obtain a digital capable 3.5 minijack to single RCA cable I could use to conect to my Dolby Digital receiver? If I DO have to upgrade, I'd rather nOT have to pay double for an X-FI Platinum just to get an optical jack. Unfortunately, this type of cable is VERY hard to find, seemingly. Most people I talk do haven't the slightest notion of what I'm talking about with it.

Anyways, thanks for your time, and God bless.

I recently purchased a CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy.

I was looking for a Stereo Mix or What u Hear Option in my Recording Devices, and could not see any option to use those recording Devices. I have 'Show disabled Devices' and 'Show disconnected Devices' Ticked, yet nothing shows up.

The only options that are avaliable are:

I'm wanting to stream music on Ventrilo, and if its not possible to use Stereo Mix or What u Hear, is it possible to use another method using the other 4 options that are avaliable?

My current OS is Vista 64-Bit Home Edition. I have Windows 7 but not wanting to install it till i have my new External HDD.

Any Ideas or options that i havent seen? or is it simply, you cannot use Stereo Mix or What u Hear on this soundcard?

Thanks for your time.

Which one would you recommend, guys ?
I have the headphones Sennheiser HD 600 with Creative SB ZxR but for ZxR i can't find any drivers for Linux, so i want to replace it
Thank you

A:Creative Sound Blaster X7 / Asus Essence STX II

Given the two you mention, I would go for the ASUS. Creative/SoundBlaster used to be THE sound card but there are more options available now.

Another that I like (and had with an older PC) is HT Omega
HT Omega - The Next Generation in Audio.

I had an older HT Omega sound card "Striker 7.1" and my recording studio recording interface developed a problem and I was able to temporarily use the Striker 7.1 for playback. I had a SoundBlaster, before the Striker 7.1, and couldn't do it with that

Ok, so I read the stickied topic about the X-Fi Xtreme Audio driver, as I think this maybe a part of my computers less-than stable condition after recent Fresh Installs of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

I got 2 things...

1) When I install Drivers off my CD, I get a SpiRunE.dll error about a module isn't there/cannot load. But the installation completes and I restart PC and it loads up the Creative Register/Update program.

2) Creative.com website is down. Does anyone have a Mirror site available for this driver or the Daniel K's? Is this compatible with Win 7 H.P. 64bit?

Hi Kovans,

The first thing i would try is boot in 'Safe Mode' and run 'Device Manager'. Then, uninstall ALL sound devices you find. Next, right-click 'Computer' from the start menu & select properties, then 'Advanced system settings' and under Hardware click 'Device Installation Settings' and make sure that 'Yes, do this automatically (recommended)' is selected. Next restart the machine. When Windows reboots it will start the 'New Hardware detected' wizard, and will check Windows Update to see if the drivers are available.

Once this is done you may/will need to install the latest drivers from the creative website in 'Cpmatability' mode for Vista/XP depending of the drivers you download.

Hope this helps

I've installed Windows 7 on my desktop with dual boot to Vista. Everything's been working fine but I haven't been able to properly setup my sound-card to function properly. As of now, I currently have no sound and I've been through many different drivers from the Creative website.

I've also tried running them in compatibility mode with Windows Vista and Windows XP SP3.

I am currently getting this error message under the "Device Status" In Device Manager, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)".

Windows has been automatically installing the driver version dated June 13 2007.

Can anyone please help me with this issue? It is currently ruining my Windows 7 experience!

I recently installed Windows 8 x64 on my XPS 17 (L702x) and while I was installing all drivers I couldn't find the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi. I can provide my service tag if needed.

In my original system configuration that's the part number identifying my purchase of this software stack. I installed the Dell Digital Delivery software and it did nothing, and I don't see this listed under "My Dell Downloads" either.
Can you help me find the files?
Thank you.

Yes it's no problem you'll just use one less speaker output, and set it up as 5.1 in the SB utility. Wiring schematic is included in both the sound card and speakers.

anyone know a good sound card (Like not over 80$) that will work with my Dell Demension E310 that can run some of the "latest games" (because this term has been way overused in the forums) (I'm speaking especially for games like COD, the Battlefield Series, etc. I have (or am close to getting) a good graphic card but don't really know much about sound cards. My computer only has the Integrated Audio Card on the mobo and i don't know whether i need to update. On a game box i have, it says the "sound card should be DX 9.0c compatible," but, unlike many graphic card reviews, cards on NewEgg and the Creative website don't specify whether its DX compatible. I don't want anything expensive (over 100$) or macho. Just something to get me by. Thanks to all who reply!

A:Buying a new Creative Sound Blaster card

dx has nothing to do with sound, so forget about that
if you really feel like buying a new spu, you can get the Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic for less than 100$
be wary that Vista support isn't so good for it yet (or so I've heard)
