I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just bought new never used factory fresh PC Acer AXC-605-UR29
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 manufacrtured this year,
I checked for latest updates and sure enough Service Pack 1 shows up in updates

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932)

Download size: 9.1 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Important

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is a recommended collection of updates and improvements to Windows that are combined into a single installable update. The service pack can help make your computer safer and more reliable. A typical installation will take about 30 minutes to complete, and you will have to restart your computer about halfway through the process.

This is a brand new PC that was loaded with factory Windows 7 SP1 so what is going on here?
Can I simply ignore the update? My only concern is that somehow MS updates will is considering
Windows 7 outdated and that I will receive no more updates since the Service Pack 1 is showing up
in the update section. How the heck is the possible with a factory image. One other thing that might help is that before I could check for any new updates Windows said I required a update to windows update. I
Did this update before finding the lastest updates. Also many updates are post cut off date for Windows 7 SP 0 so it did show updates until December 2014, I guess I will find out it Windows will continue to supply new updates this coming Tuesday...

When the user tries to login into their laptop whether cabled into our domain network or not, they receive a message "there are currently no logon servers available to service this request".  but if cabled into the network and they wait 5 minutes, they
are able to sign in without issue but it takes 2 to 3 minutes to load the page.  I signed into the laptop with my domain admin account and received the same message as the user, but when we tried cabled in (5 minutes later), i was able to sign in without
issue.  The troubleshooting steps:
1.  Updated the network driver today (still receiving same result)
2.  Re-added the computer to the domain today (still receiving same result)
3.  the event viewer is showing the 5719 NETLOGON message and also 1129 (but the user has been receiving this for a number of months)
4.  The only thing we haven't tried is creating a new user profile but the only reason I don't see that working is because if its happening with my domain admin account it can't be a profile issue.

Any ideas of what could be causing this and is there a fix for it?  I do see there is a hotfix but wasn't sure if we should run it or not.

I bought my cpu in June of 08. I have been having problems. I'm trying to fix them one by one. I was wondering if I had the correct Service Packs. Under Windows Updates I can see them all going back to when I bought it. It shows 1 service pack update, KB948465 on 9/19/09. It does not show a 2nd. Under Windows Edition in my System (Control Panel) it shows Windows Home Premium and Service Pack 2.

Can I forget about 1 or do I need it? Hopefully Service Pack 2 includes all that was in SP1 and more! Thanks in advance for your help.

This is a computer I got from my mother-in-law, who knows almost nil about computers and virus scans, etc. She was getting this error, I ran Malwarebytes on it and it found 1800 infections and we wiped those out. I continue to get this system error code that tells me that I need to: "Now insert the Windows XP Service Pack 3CD.

Is this a virus? Malware? Malwarebytes comes up with no more infections. A google search does not show any Windows Service pack 3CD.

I keep getting an error message that I need to put in a disk for Windows Service Pack 3 CD.

My inlaws did have this computer and there is no telling what disks they may have inserted trying to get this message to go away.

I did run malwarebytes and while it found over 1300 infected files the first time, each subsequent run has showed no more infections.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Now when i tried to unistall service pack 2 from the control panel, and through the uninstall folder it said:

"system file cannot be specified
service pack 2 was not unistalled"

is there a way to manually reinstall usb drivers, or another way to remove service pack 2.

Many of these, I think they are for individual critical updates.

I have been installing all the critical updates for my computer and came across the Service Pack.

When I first installed this (when it first came out) I really had problems with it and luckly I downloaded it in the way that if it didn't work, I could delete it. Well to make a long story short - I ended up having to completely re-install Windows XP. What a chore.

My question to any of you who know - it is safe to download now? Did they make the necessary changes and corrections?
I am really hesitant to download it not knowing.

Thank you.

I have been attempting to update to Windows Service Pack 3 on my PC but each time during the installation it errors out and reverses the installation. The first error message that I receive reads "Access Denied." After that messages pop up along the lines of "Installation failed, the installation process will now be reversed" and when it finishes the reversal it says "Windows may not function properly." Each time I start my PC it tries to install Service Pack 3 and this really slows down the functionality of my PC so I've actually limited my automatic updates so that it only notifies me of updates and lets me choose when to download/install them now . Windows 8 has, of course, been designed for touch-screen. Therefore, the way I see it, some of the features really do not work as efficiently using the mouse. I know that Microsoft after a time comes out with Service Packs for their operating systems. So here's what I have been thinking. Maybe MS will come out with a Service Pack that will make it easier for those who do not have a touch screen and need to use a mouse. On the other hand, maybe MS doesn't want to make it easy to use a mouse since they want everyone to eventually have a touch screen. Does anyone else have any thought on this--that is about MS coming out with a Service Pack making it easier to use a mouse?

I have XP SP3 listed in Add / Remove and nothing listed on the right side. You do not list exactly where you are looking, but I must assume you mean Add / Remove area -This is a recent reinstall of XP SP2 Pro, and SP3 was added the next day. What do you see if you click Start > Right click My Computer > Properties - Is SP3 shown as installed ??That is my best way of seeing the SP installed. It will show Service Pack 2 or 3 there. What other things make you so sure that you do not have SP3 installed ??Note that you will not install SP3 on a 64bit system, they only have a SP2 to install.Windows XP SP3 is for x86 editions of Windows XP only. Take it back to the shop and tell them what happened. They formatted and install Xp on your new drive using a disk without the SP-1 on it. At my shop, we put all the updates on before it leaves. can i get a few opinions, here? i have a few screensavers that i love..and, YES, i check them for ~junk~ (well, i do NOW... )...and i have been trying, also, to make them...well, one....gotta start somewhere...

anyway...i have one particular ss that, once engaged...will NOT go away, unless i turn the puter off..and i have to do that at the tower. needless to say, i'm not using it. and it's an awesome ss...beautiful scenery, etc. i wrote the author, and was told that, in her experience, the service pack 2 did not mix with the active x used in her ss's...and could that be it? well, as it turns out, maybe it is. anyway, she (of course) recommends i "just remove the service pack 2...it doesn't do anything anyway, it's just microsoft pulling yet more wool over your eyes"...yeah, she likes bill, too...

anyone know of another way around this? or SHOULD i just remove the sp2...it sure as heck hasn't stopped me from getting ~junk~...just look in the hjt logs for proof of THAT...(and, yes, the last one DID come from a ss...and i cancelled the installation..too late...never, never, NEVER go to freeze.com!! )

so, may i have your opinions, please? thanx!

A:windows xp~~~service pack 2

My opinion is that the owner of the ss should offer an update that is compatible with SP2. They probably do, but it is in the "paid" version. If that goes no where, then you can always re-install it. In some cases, it will fix the problems. In that case, I would d/l a fresh copy of it from their site.As far as reverting back from SP2, I would find a better reason. I know that it may come out a little mean, but allow me to explain my position. For one, I do not use a screen saver, so it is quite possible that a similar problem is on my computer, but I have just not found it yet Another reason why I would not use that would be because Windows is more secure with SP2. I may not like the way Microsoft does things, but SP2 is becoming quite common, and for a programmer may lose customers from those that already have it. Instead of telling you that there is not a way around it, I would learn how it works and make a patch for it.Just my 2 cents.

A:I Need Help with windows xp service pack

To install SP3 you have to have either SP1a or SP2 installed. (You do not have to install SP1 or SP1a before installing SP2).
Here is a link for Windows XP SP2. Install this first.
Once done you can install SP3.

Once you have installed SP3 you can install Visual Basic 2010 Express. Which you can download from here.

These are the requirements for Visual Studio 2010 Express. It clearly says you need Windows XP with SP3:

I read that Win7 has a service pack 1 now, doe that apply for 64 bit versions?

Have any of you installed it? Are there any improvements or does it just slow the system down?
