Q: I will never use any lenovo product anymore. Lenovo sucks, Ideapad is not for real use.

I have an Asus R558ur which work fast than IdeaPad 310, The quality of my Asus laptop is better than this Lenovo laptop. The Asus laptop cost me 36K and this Lenovo laptop cost me 45K. Lenovo laptop comes full of garbage apps (MC Afee), blah blah, If I run both sides by side. From now on I will never use any lenovo product and will never guide anyone to use lenovo anymore. Done! 1. Asus laptop has a keyboard and better shift key ( In Lenovo it's small).2. VS run faster on Intel 6200u based Asus then Lenovo. 3. Lenovo runs Lenovo.imcontroller and too many s** in the pc. Why the hell Lenovo not even tested the thing they ship. Did Lenovo hardware team even test the keyboard quality before shipping the product? Quality of Lenovo product is worst

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had my ideapad (flex 15 20309) for about 2 years and was working fine. Around 5 months ago I noticed my touchscreen wouldn't work any more. Sometimes after a reboot it would seem to come back to life but now I can't figure out what is going on. I seem to have Microsoft Windows 10 home as the operating system. I can't find any setting or keystroke or anything that can get my touchscreen back to life. Help! My touchpad (mousepad) works fine and I'm using a USB mouse as well because I don't like using the mousepad. The only thing I think has changed in the last 5 or 6 months was probably windows 10 and the regular updates that are done via windows 10.

Hi,For your information, almost everyone says it's working by "fn+space" but for my laptop it was "double space", i don't know why.Anyway, backlight was working fine until yesterday. Fan started to get loud so i took my laptop apart and cleaned the fan. The noise is gone but backlight stopped working. Capslock, numlock lights and fn key are working, i do not know if there is a correlation. I read almost every topic about the issue but none of them helped.

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

Does anyone know the functions of the Lenovo Utility app? I am aware that it flashes up with an on screen symbol when the caps lock or num lock is pressed but what else can it do? I only ask as I want to disable it in order to stop the on screen notification that caps lock is on from appearing everytime I press the key. However I read somewhere that the app also handles the battery management and don't want to disable it if it will harm my pc. When I go into details in task manager it just appears as Lenovo Utility. So can I safley diable it? or will it cause an issue? Thanks

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I've been waiting almost a week for someone from Lenovo to address my fan issue. It seems once you give them money they run away with it.My laptop is 2 months old and the fan sounds like a jet trying to take off whenever the laptop's on. Since no one is answering I have no idea what it could be. I tried updating my Laptop, after about 15 minutes booting up, it booted up without a mouse cursor so I had to restart it again, right after restarting, wasting another 15 minutes.I really hope I didn't have to get stuck with this P.O.S laptop, from a company who's servivce is also P.O.SI can't believe you screw your customers like this. I feel sorry for those who buy Lenovo products for loved ones on Chrstimas, because it's a nightmare. Hello dear community, I am in some struggle with my Flex 2 Pro-15.Its the touchscreen model with an i7-4510U CPU, 16 GB of RAM. Sometimes, when I wake up my laptop from standby or want to boot it up, it does nothing. The Keyboard lights up, the fan spins but nothing happens. When I turn it off and on again, mostly it boots right up than or I have to try it more often. It doesnt even boot than into the bios trough the little button on the left side. I am on dual boot Windows 10 and Ubuntu. I turned secure boot and UEFI off through the BIOS, left it on etc. But It doesnt appear to be the problem because I am running this setup since a few times. Also I cleaned it up a bit, the fan from the outside, I didnt opened it. So I assume the last things I can do is to send it to Lenovo or open it and try to take out one RAM and test if it boots than etc. But thats the last things I want to do so I assume I also could try to reset the embedded controller. But how? And: maybe you guys have some more ideas.Cheers and thanks for the help.Edit: I apologize if they are some misspellings and grammar mistakes in my text, I am an german student in the US but I hope you guys can understand what I mean.

Hi community,

I am hoping that someone can help me get my laptop back to life.

I wanted to do a clean Windows 10 install on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, which I have done once before without any problems. However this time when booting from the Win 10 boot USB drive nothing happened for a long time (several minutes), so I restarted and tried again, still the same. This was weird because I knew the boot USB was fine, as I had used it before for this purpose on this laptop. Next step was obviously making sure the USB device and boot files were good, so i tested on another PC and everything worked fine - now here comes the really weird part...after this I was not able to boot from the SSD (or the USB, or any other boot device) anymore, as soon as anything not related to the BIOS was booted, the screen would just be stuck at either the Lenovo logo screen or a blank screen. Boot failure also includes the Lenovo recovery option (accesible via the Novo menu)

I have tried a lot of things, but nothing seems to work:
- resetting the BIOS
- trying out any BIOS settings that would make sense in a boot context
- hard resetting the BIOS by unplugging the CMOS over a night (which worked, but didnt solve the issue)
- trying different USB boot images and formats (all working on similar PCs)

these are the facts/findings:
- BIOS seems to work fine
- boot devices are discovered in the BIOS boot manager and appear as they should (they're detected as intended)
- the boot devices tested works fin... Read more

Hello, I've been trying to install the "AMD VGA Driver for Windows 8.1 (64-bit)" from my laptop's drivers page. However, this is the result I get when trying to install the AMD VGA driver: "Application Install: install package failure!"  Only "Intel(R) HD Graphics Family" appears under "Display Adapters" in Device Manager. The specs page here says this model should include both Intel integrated graphics and an AMD card. Am I missing something here? I've been googling for hours and have yet to find a solution. Do I actually have an AMD card? How can I find out without opening the laptop up?

While some G50-70 models may have had an AMD card installed, many of them shipped with the Intel HD Graphics adapter as it appears it the case with yours.    Had their been another graphic adapter, it probebly would be displayed in Device Manager, but you can check the exact model number of the G50-70 you have with the list shown here to determilne which Graphics adapters should be installed. Good Luck. PS   Running MSINFO32 should give you the model number if not printed on the bottom of the laptop.

What is the real cause of the issue with the horizontal lines flickering on the screen of Lenovo Y50 laptop when operating on ac adapter? Is it motherboard, a screen ribbon or something else? There were a couple of threads about it as it seems to be pretty common issue with Y50. Unfortunately, those threads either evolved into "Me too" complaint chain with no real solution suggestion or "I sent mine under warranty" and no follow-up case. If we could get some actual answers in this thread, it would be very helpful for Lenovo Y50 owners. I have recently replaced a motherboard on my Y50. I used to have the horizonal lines issue on my old motherboard. Unfortunately, my Y50 with new motherboard also has this issue, less frequent though. I am not sure if the replacement motherboard is faulty or whether the root cause of the issue lies outside the motherboard.

What is necessary for Lenovo to respond to and acknowledge a problem? I really don't know what else there is to do to get support, and I apologize in advance for the duplication. The issue is that many X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga users have been reporting a very severe issue that leads to data-loss, yet there has been no response from any support staff at Lenovo that the issue has been acknowledged or being worked on. The thread has received over 2000 views, with many users affected, and various potential sources of the problem reported. I had to return my laptop and would gladly fork over the premium price for a new one, but without a solution I can't justify spending money on a machine that can manifest a severe problem under certain conditions, so I'm making this post in a last-ditch attempt before I succumb and look to another manufacturer. The link to the aforementioned thread:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-X1-Yoga-do-not-wake-up-after-sleep-... Thank you in advance.

I've been a long time Thinkpad user. I've been using T420s for years, and T61 before then, always running Linux. I recently received a W450 (I think) for work, which has no real buttons. This touchpad is pretty much unusable for me, so I am going to return the laptop. I noticed that the newer laptops have the real buttons above the touchpad back (clearly, I am not the first one to find the  buttonless touchpad unusable). The real buttons at the top are nice (and important), but I also use the buttons below the touchpad a lot, and I don't see any Thinkpad that still has these. Does Lenovo still sell any laptop with the real buttons both above and below the touchpad? By the way, I don't understand why Lenovo needed to change the touchpad all of a sudden after using pretty much the same configuration for many years, dating back to the IBM Thinkpad as I recall. What was wrong with the old configuration that they needed to take away the buttons that were fine for all these years? Don't answer that. I don't really care what the reason was. But this puts me in a bind because I can't move off my current T420s until I find something similar that has the physical buttons, including the middle button. I don't know if they exist. Lenovo has broken the perfect touchpad as far as I am concerned, which is unfortunate.

A:Any Lenovo laptops still have real buttons under touchpad?

Not that I know of. The alternative is to pretend the TrackPoint buttons are the touchpad buttons and use those, which isn't too bad except for needing to configure the settings in a special way to make it fully usable. There was nothing wrong with the usability of the old design, but usable just wasn't fashionable any more.

Here is my situation (read carefully): I never had wifi problems with my 1st gen Lenovo Yoga running Windows 8 64-bit. Always super fast wifi and 5 bars on the icon. One morning, I couldn't connect to my home wifi (unidentified network), but I had no problem on my Android phone. I called my Internet provider and they "separated" the 2.4GHz channel (made for further distances, but slower) and the 5GHz channel (for shorter distances, faster). From then on, I could see the 2.4GHz on my laptop, but not connect to it and I couldn't see the 5GHz.On my phone, I could see both. As I obviously suspected a problem with the Realtek RTL8723A network adapter on my laptop, I reinstalled the driver, which partly solved the problem, as I can now surf the Internet on the 2.4GHz, but still can't see the 5GHz.Plus, I only have 1 bar on the icon, even though I'm 2m from the router. Is there anything I could do to see both channels, just like on my phone, and be able to use the faster 5GHz channel? Thanks

A:New Lenovo Edge 2-1580 won't turn ON anymore

Hi jheng,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

I guess it seems to be a hardware issue, but before I go ahead with the troubleshooting steps I would like to remind you regarding the warranty of your laptop, if the laptop is in warranty then you can take the laptop to the nearest service centre or you can contact the Lenovo contact centre.

However, before taking the laptop to the nearest service centre please perform the below given troubleshooting steps and let me know the result of the same to assist you further.

Try powering on the laptop only with battery and check whether it works?
Try powering on the laptop only with adapter by removing the battery and check whether it works.
If possible try swapping the battery and adapter to check whether the issue is with the battery or adapter?
If none of the steps didn?t work, toggle the caps lock key and check you can see the LED indication.
Remove the battery and AC adapter
Remove the hard drive and wlan/wwcan cards
Remove both RAM modules
Re attach the AC adapter and boot

Please post back whether the above steps helped  you.
Thank you, have a good day.

Did someone help you today? Click on the ?upper half star? at the left side of the post to thank them with a Kudo!

Hi, I have Lenovo Y700 gaming laptop which I purchased 5 months back. My drive D and E (which equals to 900 GB) doesn't show up anymore. It used to happen before but after a restart it would be ok so I ignored it lately. Today while accessing those drives I got the error message "The request failed due to fatal device hardware error". I restarted my PC and now those drives doesn't appear anymore. ?I looked for solutions over the internet and most of them led me to renaming unallocated partition in Disk Management. But I don't have an unallocated partition as well!?Intel Rapid Storage Technology prompts that I should supress the problem of SATA disk (932 GB). Doing that doesn't change anything either!! Please help. It would be highly appreciated.

I want to put a spare disk in it and reinstall Windows 7. I have two questions. First, is it legal to install Windows 7 Pro from a retail installation disk that I have on hand (using the computer's product key, not the one that came with the disk)? Or must I buy a recovery disk from Lenovo? Second, if it's legal to install Windows from a retail disk, is it practical? That is, does a Lenovo recovery disk contain any significant components that aren't on a retail Windows disk, and can't be downloaded for free from Lenovo's support site?

I don't even know where to start, but Lenovo are very good at making it almost impossible to speak to any kind of human being who can assist with their faulty products....so i'm starting here! I bought my Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro in August 2015 with a one year warranty (however, it would seem Lenovo's warranty start date is when they ship it to retailers and not when you actually buy it, but this was the least of my worries, and one issue that I was able to rectify). Within a couple of weeks, 'BOOT DRIVE MISSING/FAILED' started popping up  every now and then, and I would have to turn the power off and on again, and everything would be fine. At the start of September this message came up again, permanently, and dispite numerous attempts at factory resets/restores/boots etc which were suggested by the Medion crew on the tech support helpline, the laptop failed to work. At this point I was working abroad, and had the added hassle of returning it to the UK, to then have it shipped off to Germany for repairs. Dispite the fact that the laptop was only a month old, Lenovo said they could not replace it, only repair it (even though it was clearly a faulty product!?) The retailer I purchased it from also refused to assist, laying blame with the manufacturer. The laptop finally made its way back to me in October, apparently repaired, although you wouldn't know it as there was no information on what work had been done, just the laptop in an otherwise empty box.
