Q: cant remove alpha antivirus

i have alpha antivirus on my screen. its not downloaded the only place it can be found is on my disc c and it wont let me erase it what can i do

RELEVANCY SCORE 200
Preferred Solution: cant remove alpha antivirus

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A friend gave me his laptop in frustration. He has the Alpha Antivirus pest.

I put a copy of Malwarebytes on and ran it in safe mode. Found and removed almost 800 entries. Alpha still there in normal mode. Couldn't start MBAM so I renamed it to bb.exe and ran it. Removed another 700+ entries. Alpha is still there.

I have no internet on the laptop, no idea why but I assume it has something to do with the infection. The ethernet connection does not show active and I can see my home wireless network but can't get it past "aquiring netword address".

How do I proceed? Here is the HJT helps at all.

HOW TO REMOVE Alpha Antivirus / Personal Antivirus/ anti-spyware (please scroll to the bottom for my answers)

Hi,

I've seen a lot of posts on here asking how to remove Alpha Antivirus / Personal Antivirus/ anti-spyware but with no replies. im guessing this is because not everyone can reply to Malware Removal questions because of spammers.

I've had a lot of experiance with removing Personal Antivirus, as a lot of my clients PCs have come in infected with it. This week, i was subject to a rogue cousin of of Personal Antivirus called Alpha Antivirus.

I havn't seen any posts up here explaining how to remove it, so i thought I'd offer my services.

To remove Personal Antivirus:
I simply downloaded the freeware malwarebytes from www.malwarebytes.org after which, you obviously need to scan with another free program spy-ware tool such as Ad-Aware SE Pro. It's free to use for non-commercial use, but it often buggs you to buy it. its also no the best around in todays terms (it was a few years ago) but it still did the job in this case nicely

To remove Alpha Antivirus
Alpha was a bit tougher. To remove Alpha follow the above and simply downloaded the freeware malwarebytes from www.malwarebytes.org

HOWEVER running Adaware SE Personal didnt fix the problem for me this time and i had to upgrade to a much better Freeware Spyware cleaner such as SuperAntiSpywareCleaner http://www.superantispyware.com/or the like (please note, although SuperAntiSpyware cleaner ... Read more

I have a particular new version of the same thing that has been going around. The Police pro/windows antivirus 2009 and others. It is called Alpha antivirus. It has a program running in task manager called csrss.exe that will not let me stop. PC is running Vista home. I was able to run Malwarebytes and now it doesn't find any problems, but the problem is still there. Most programs stop working and I get a mesage about them. Running combofix in safe mode works, but I get a bsod (blue screen of death) about 20% into it. I hope this is a common problem and I am just an idiot. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I am using XP & IE. I have a AVG antivirus program + software from
my cable provider. Yesterday I got a message that my computer was
infected and the screen went to My Computer showing multiple trojans
etc. I could not get out of the loop. Now everytime I try a URL I get a
message that it's been blocked and could harm my computer. I somehow
downloaded a new program called Alpha Antivirus and I can't remove it
with the add/remove feature in Control Panel. Apparently the program has
not been activated as it keeps asking me to do so. Any help with this wouldbe appreciated.

I've tried to remove Alpha antivirus with Malwarebytes and it doesn't work. The first time I ran it it found 9 items and quarantined then ( 4Trojan.bho, 4 trojan.fakealert & 1 adware) but the alpha popped up right after. I've tried running the malware bytes a number of times ( after removing the 'alpha.exe' file from the processes menu, otherwise it won't even let me run Malwarebytes) and everytime it says the scan was finished succesfully and nothing was found. I'm not very good with computers, but don't know what else to try.
Thanks for any help,

Hello, First I have a pc with the Alpha virus along with remnants of Windows Police.
Now, I can not run any programs from the desktop. Clicking opens the OPEN WITH box so something is wrong with my .EXE links.
I can not install or run HJT or Malware. Getting Access denied errors, missing picture errors, or it starts and just goes away.
I am at a loss, being everything I am reading to do, can't be done.
Perhaps someone can instruct me on how to re associate my .exe files and fix my authorities so I might be able to run the tools?

Thanks in advance to everyone. 1st time poster, long time reader

Avira Antivirus Pro - Network Protection Alpha
As a result of the feedback we've received through the Avira Beta Center and Support for our Avira Web Protection module in the past we've decided to redo the module.

Those are the improvements and features added with the new Avira Network Protection Alpha
Scan HTTP traffic on all ports
Unlimited numbers of parallel connections
Improved performance
Reduced resource footprint
Improved technical handling of whitelisted connections
A number of people here in the Beta Center and customers had problems while browsing the internet and received so called "whitepages" we hope to resolve this issue with the alpha version as well.

Test instructions
Please be aware that this is a alpha version which has been tested thoroughly by our QA and development but does not have the same quality as a beta or released product. Errors or data loss may occur!
Uninstall previous Avira Antivirus versions on your system before you install this alpha build!
Technically speaking this is the latest "Antivirus Pro" beta version where the web protection module has been replaced.
Please use the attached "Avira_Antivirus_Pro.key" beta license when you are asked for it during the installation dialog ("I already have a valid license file")
Due to the very high version number, this build will never reach beta or RTM status. In order to proceed with beta testing afterwards you need to uninstall this version firs... Read more

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hello

I have a dell laptop with XP SP3, 32bit running a bit slow. Full scans with Norton Security Suite (Xfinity version) and Malwarebytes find no infection. Secunia PSI at 97% with only WinDVDGold and Powerpoint viewer 2003 at end-of-life. All Windows updates have been applied.

However, in Add/Remove programs there is an entry for Antivirus 2011. When I click on remove, a box pops up saying:

An error occurred while trying to remove Antivirus 2011. You do not have access to \\ \globalroot\systemroot\system32\userinit.exe. You can specify the new uninstall program below.

Is this an infection or maybe it's a remnant of one? Your help in removing this would be greatly appreciated.

I've read enough to know that when I get a "warning" from something called Antivirus Pro it's probably a hoax.

My problem is, when I google on it and try to find out what to do about it, I can't tell which of the zillion or so sites I find that purport to offer removal software that I should trust!

My usual rule of thumb is to follow the advice I find here, but when I search on that text string on this forum I don't find much here either!

Can anyone please recommend me a safe, reliable, trustworthy way to remove this royal PITA? As of earlier this afternoon, I got its usual false positives again (I now know that's what it has been all these times), but this time when I ran AVG Free 7.5 it didn't find anything. The other times it has found and quarantined one single virus more than 30 times, now, for what that's worth.

This afternoon, I also ran AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and it also failed to report anything other than 40 or 50 tracking cookies, which is all it ever finds!

What should I do?

Thx.

I'm having a problem removing this same virus. I followed all the rules and steps, but it came back after rebooting. It took a while before it came back. This time, when it said I was being "attacked", I just closed it. But it was on my desktop as an icon that wasn't finished downloading.

I'm trying the steps one more time before posting a Highjack this log, but it takes a long time, haha. At least I have all the software downloaded.

Also, when I did reboot the last time after running the malware scanner, spybot kept asking me if I wanted to accept changes. I had no idea what I was allowing and what I wasn't. Maybe that is why the MS virus came back?

(Sorry if I'm not speaking the language very well.....I'm really new to all this and thanks for everyone's patience).

Ok, so I updated a friend's computer, their service pack, yahoo messenger and internet explorer (to IE 8) on Sunday. Previously have installed The Shield Deluxe 2009 on the system and since he had not run it, he wanted me to get it working for him. There is Vista on his Dell Laptop, it is a 32 bit operating system.

One problem...The Shield Deluxe when I was all done updating everything popped and asked if I wanted to allow this program and it looked like it could have been something from his computer, so like an idiot I believe I said 'allow'.

Well now he has this Antivirus Pro popping up and it also manages to open both porno.com and some viagra site whenever you are online. This virus inundates you with numerous pop ups and tries to get you to scan the computer using this fake software, which is just a scam to get you to give them your credit card information.

So, how do I get rid of this problem? I had something similiar happen to my old Dell desktop and I eventually got rid of it, but I cannot remember how I did it. Any help would be great! I know on my old desktop at one point the Shield Deluxe did pick up on this rogue virus and I was able to quarantine it, but I know I had to delete some files, which was a pain. Thank you.

I am trying to clean a machine belonging to someone else of "Antivirus Plus" - a pop-up, very convincing-looking fake malware scanner. I don't know the history but the current state is that it appears within a couple of minutes of a normal boot (3 windows, which can't be closed), and Internet Explorer is unusable. In fact the whole machine is virtually unusable when not in Safe mode.

If I boot into SAFE Mode AV+ doesn't appear.

The machine is a Packard Bell laptop, running XP Home SP2. It did have Norton anti-virus installed, but its subscription expired some time ago so I have no idea how old it is.

I've freshly-downloaded various scanners/cleaners on another machine and copied them to CD to transfer onto the victim machine.

I've run the Norman Malware Cleaner (found a number of viruses and removed them) in Safe and ordinary mode, but AV+ is still there.
I've run Trend's online "House call" scanner in Safe mode - it found a few things and removed them, but AV+ is still there.
I've run NVT_Rogue_Software_Remover but it found nothing to remove (to be fair it doesn't list AV+ in its targetted malware)
I've tried to run MBAM, but when I try to execute it, it asks for the language to use, and then when I select English, nothing else happens.

I saw Spyhunter, but it will scan for free but wants money to clean - this seems rather like AV+ itself, so I don't trust it as being genuine. The last thing I need to d... Read more

A:Unable to remove "Antivirus Plus"

Since MBAM seems to be recommended here a lot, I thought I'd concentrate on running that - no go!

To recap, when I double-click on the downloded file on the desktop, I get a window asking to select the language, and when I <OK> it I get either nothing at all, or a flash of a window which disappears before I can read it. This is in SAFE Mode. I tried renaming the file as I've seen suggested, but with no improvement.

By running it on another machine, I see that the window is the first in the install of MBAM (it installs fine on another machine).

Having installed it on another machine I thought I'd copy over the directory and its contents to the victim machine, but this didn't work either (none of the .exe files would run).

How can a machine in SAFE mode be blocking execution of the file?

How can I get it to run MBAM - or something else that will wipe out Antivirus Plus?

Cheers,

Howard

Did look at a variety of websites normally visited, did not intentionally click on unknown/not previously visited sites, but might have inadvertently rolled over some link that opened.
Had a security warning pop up, telling me that my computer was infected, etc. Anitivirus Live shield with blue and white stripes installed itself in the tool bar. Kept declining all popups, but eventually could not access any websites, email, etc.
After doing some google searching, decided to follow the following self-help steps - restart pc, quickly go to task manager and stop run of the 'sysguard.exe' file, then go to bleeping computer to register and then download combofix.
Was able to stop run of sysguard.exe in task manager, did get to blcom and got registered.
At this point, I am using the email functions on my pc rather than another machine - the antivirus live shield is gone from the tray and I have not had any popups from them appear during this session.
What to do next, please?
thank you, md mike

After the latest upgrade of Firefox my laptop seemed to start wigging out. First off, a bunch of Firefox and IE full-page pop up ads keep showing up. And as of yesterday, the ?Antivirus System Pro? has started to pop up and create fake system notifications.I?ve tried using Malwarebyte?s to remove it as some of these sites mention but it has not worked. It seems to remove some files but when I reboot the program is still there.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-remo...irus-system-prohttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...08223206AA8rij7Any ideas? A bit frustrated and eager to get this thing off my comp? Thanks in advance,Chris
