I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello community,I registered here to find someone who can help me out. I own a Lenovo Y500. I updated the system in August 16 from win 8.1 to win10 without having any kind of issues. The whole system ran perfectly for almost 6 months.2 weeks ago win10 did one of its "standard" updates and since then I have extreme problems concerning my laptop. 1.win 10 says the latest update Windows 10 Version 1607 für x64-basierte Systeme (KB3200970) couldn't be installed properly so the installation process was stopped. I should do a restart. If I do so, the update gets downloaded again and win10 tries to install it again but AGAIN it wont work. That means I'm literally cought in some kind of update bubble 2. because of this failed update my USB drivers wont work anymore. Win10 says that INTEL driver update for Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family SMBus Host Controller - 1E22 failed, so all my USB devices dont work anymore, except my XBox controller 3. My office 2010 version refused to work after the failed update, the systems tells me that I dont have the correct product key but this is not too important for me. Using Libre instead. I already searched the net for a solution but nothing helped.I tried to install the Intel USB drivers using the INTEL Driver Update Utility but it didnt work, i also tried to install the driver right from the Intel hompage and it said my system doesnt fullfill the minimum requirements for the installation of the software... ... Hello.I recently purchased Y500 with SLI and I'm very happy with this computer.Yesterday I discovered strange problem which I beleive is hardware problem.I made a short video of the problem because I'm not sure I can describe it so accurate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6BEiHuJBfI I beleive that something inside is not contacting well and this causes the sound stop. The computer is new and the only thing I upgraded is the mSATA SSD so I can install the OS there. Any ideas what can be causing the problem ? Im in the USA now but I'm coming back to Bulgaria soon,so I may not have the time to send the laptop back to Lenovo so I'll try to fix the problem by myself. Thank you.

A:Lenovo Yoga 510 (cannot install win10 creator update) Urgent!

It sounds like the creators update your system has cached might be corrupted. Go back to Win 10 home and, before updating, completely reset Windows update. See here - https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/24742-reset-windows-update-windows-10-a.html

Hello everybody,I've signed in this community right now. I have a laptop ideapad 500s-13 for a month, with windows 10 pre installed. the CPU is core i3-6100, Intel Graphics 520, Samsung SSD 128Gb, 4 GB ram. After some sumulative update of Win 10 1607 anniversary update, my laptop couldn't boot, it remains in black screen mode with circle of dots rotating but it can't enter in the system, even if i disconnected all the connection and USB cable. I've tried to boot in Safe mode, it works!! but not in normal mode!!So, what I did was to enter in Safe mode and disable the Intel Graphics 520 Driver from device manager (i don't remember the exact name). I restarted the PC, surprisingly it could enter in the system without any problem, but i couldn't change the brighness of the screen and some other feature related to screen. The problem cames up the exact moment when i tried to enable the graphic driver from pc device manager ,the screen turned black with only cursor. So I think the main problem is the incompatibility of the win10 and the intel graphics driver. My current version of intel HD graphic 520 driver is 21.20.16.4550, driver date 11/11/2016. Please, do you have any solutions??? ps. sorry for any mistake in the text, english is not my native language.  thank you in advance

Hello, I have a problem with my lenovo y500, right now my laptop won't boot to Windows 8, it stays in the lenovo black screen and shows "preparing automatic repair" loading for many minutes. Also when it boots, goes to a blue screen where I can choose options like recovery and stuff, the thing is that when I click it, it says that the hard drive is locked and I don't know what to do.

Update:

I don't even get to be in windows, it doesn't boot at all.

I made a restore with one key recovery and still won't boot. I really don't know what else to do, since this M$ system of not providing a win 8 key with the laptop that the user can see won't let me download a new win 8 iso from the official website.

I?ve downloaded an enterprise version wich doesn't work either, so now Im downloading a pirate version to see how it goes.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

So it all started few months back when I updated my Y500 to Windows 8.1 from store. Back then freezes weren't that frequent. It used to freeze once or twice a day. The screen would either go black accompanied with a 'pop' sound, fan would start running and it would shutdown moments later or would go crazy with weird colors and same thing happens( http://i.imgur.com/e79BVsP.jpg ) . Soon the freezes increased to the point that my Y500 would freeze moments after it boots to desktop (or even during booting)So I did a clean installation of Windows 8.1 few weeks back and it was normal for first 2 days. The issue started again. I unistalled latest Nvidia drivers (removed using Display Driver Uninstaller) and reverted back to old Nvidia drivers from Lenovo website, also tried the TDR fix but it didn't fix a thing. The issue is even more terrible when the laptop is not plugged in. (Didn't encounter any such issue when I booted in safe mode though.)Tried running scannow and RestoreHealth commands. Couldn't fix (due to some errors, forgot what it was).Tried running chkdsk scan, Never got the chance to finish as it would get interrupted by the freeze everytime.Encountered few BSODs too. (MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL(tcpip.sys), WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR). Even as I write, I'm being interrupted with this freezing issue(see the pixelated colors) : http://i.imgur.com/hwDuK5k.jpg Maybe old, but here are the MiniDump files :https://drive.google.com... Did a clean install of win 8.1 (single language). chrome and file explorer freeze a lot less now, but the issue isn't entirely resolved. My Windows 8 Lenovo Y500 has been in a constant auto repair black screen blue screen loop for a couple of days now and I can't seem to find a solution. Mainly I've been looking to simply factory restore it to solve the problem since I don't care about losing any data. I've already tried: F8Shift + F8F9F11Novo button system recovery I tried these in order to try and access the advanced options but to no avail. The Novo button system recovery says "Loading files" then goes to Lenovo logo but loops back to the auto repair. I do not have a Win. 8 recovery disc or USB at hand. Is the only way to fix this is to obtain one? Thanks.

Hello. Sorry for my English.I recently installed Windows 10 on lenovo y500. 4 months everything worked well, but then I started to have problems with the video card. When I turned on the laptop, the screen started flashing, and then I saw a message about the failure of drivers. Then he stopped flashing and there were green pixels on the screen. I tried to reinstall the drivers, but nothing helped. Later, when I turned on the laptop, the screen turns green, and then completely turns off after a few seconds. I took it to the service center, and they said that it is necessary to install only Windows 8, because the BIOS and SLI does not work correctly with Windows 10. But these 4 months SLI has worked on Windows 10. What should I do? Is it worth it to stay on Windows 10, or roll back to 8?My lenovo y500 spec.i7-3630QM, 650m sli, 6Gb RAM, 1920x1080

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

I have a lenovo ideapad y500 with a 1366x768 screen, and I am looking to pop open the screen, and replace the panel with a 1920x1080 screen. Assuming that I purchase another 15.6 inch screen (size of the original screen), is this possible? A model of the y500 is sold with a 1080p display, and the graphics card in my model is more than capable of outputting such a resolution. I was just wondering if there is a chance that the connections between my laptop and new screen would not match as I do not know if there is some sort of standard port with screens. Thanks!

A:Screen upgrade lenovo ideapad y500

You would need to find out the exact model of the 1080p screen was that was sold with that model and order the same one or compatible replacement model. Laptop screens are not universally interchangeable and you can't just buy any screen and connect it.

I have a Lenovo Y500 with the following specs: i7-3630QM, 8GB RAM, GT 650M SLI, 1TB HDD, AR5B225 Network adapter.I have 3 questions:1. Will this SSD work in the mSATA slot on the Lenovo Y500?850 EVO Series MZ-M5E250BW 250GBhttps://www.komplett.se/product/838646/datorutrustning/lagring/haarddisk/ssd-msata/samsung-850-evo-2...2. As I have the SLI variant of the laptop, there's obviously a graphics card in my "ultrabay". Can I fit a 2,5" SSD in that ultrabay or would i need to buy a totally different ultrabay that was specifically meant to hold an SSD? If so, where can i find that part?3. With the current AR5B225 network adapter (802.11N) i only get around 9.5 megabyte per second or 75ish megabit per second. Is there any replacement network adapter i could buy with 802.11AC 5GHz? Preferably capable of actual (not theoretical) throughput of about 500 megabit per second? As that's what my accesspoints are capable of.

So, long story short. I accidentally deleted my recovery partition and now it seems like the only thing that will get my laptop up and running normally again is a recovery disc from Lenovo. I just got off the phone with customer service and they informed me that recovery discs can not be ordered in USB form.  This is where my main issue is. My Lenovo Ideapad Y500 laptop did not come with a CD-ROM Drive. With that being said, I do not want to spend $69 on a recovery disc that will require me to purchase an external CD-ROM drive that potentially won't even work... When I asked customer support if I could return and get a refund for the disc if it will not boot through an external CD-ROM drive, they said no. Has anyone been able to run a recovery disc from an external cd-rom drive successfully? Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with this thing...

Apologies if this has been addressed before but my problem is pretty specific and I couldn't find any threads about it.  For a quick backgound, my OS is Windows 10 (was Windows 8 prior) and my network adapter is an Intel Centrino N-2230.  I have a Lenovo Y500 laptop and my internet has been having issues. For background, it was working fine until sometime early this year. I got an ethernet cable and mainly relied on that. Whenever I would unplug my ethernet cord, most of the time my internet wouldn't work - the open networks availble shown would just be empty even though all my other devices connected to the internet just fine. I ignored this and continued because I mainly only used it with ethernet anyways, and if I really needed to I could disable and reenable my network adapter to get the internet working (for like 30 seconds before it would often die again).  I'm back home from college now however, and I need a consistent internet. The problem I face now is that when my laptop isn't plugged in, I can't seem to use internet at all (I can do the disable and re-enable technique but it works for like 5 seconds before it stops working again). When my laptop is plugged in, it stays connected to the internet consistently, but the quality of the connection is really inconsistent. For games that I play, every 10 minutes I usually have around 3-4 instances where the ping goes from 20 to like 1000 for 10-15 seconds, sometimes even completely disconectin... Read more

Hello, I have been using my Lenovo Y500 for 2.5 years now and like 1 month ago i have used the Lenovo energy management software to recalibrate the battery.  Next day at school my laptop didnt wanted to charge up when plugged in. After trying so many ways to let it charge i finnaly found a way to charge it up.  - Unplug the charger and remove battery.- plug in the charger and then in the wall-socket- insert battery I have to do this everytime when i want to charge my laptop.  The nex day i tried to find the problem. I did try another original adapter and battery. But that was not the problem.  So i went on the internet and search if this problem was more common.  After some research i found 2 websites telling the same problem as me and say that this is an motherboard fault caused by the lenovo energy management after battery calibration tool.  Now i am pissed at Lenovo for ruining my laptop with their own software.  I dont have any warranty on it anymore so what can i do? Okay so, I got my Lenovo Ideapad Y500 a couple days ago. Liked it and all BUT when I had my mouse connected into the laptop and then turned off the touchpad, it would not turn back on. My daughter's laptop recently began generating random Win 8 BSODs. Thinking it might be video driver related, I updated the nVidia GeForce GT750M to the latest version of the driver on nVidia's site. And still... it seems to random BSOD once or twice a day.

Last night I started an upload of some data to the cloud (which completed) and then sometime around 4AM, sitting there unattended and idle, it restarted.

I previously cleared the event log and was able to see the error codes, not that it does me any good. They are a bit cryptic for me.

I have the mini-dump file too. But I think the BSOD tool will likely gather that info as well.

Any help interpreting and tracking down the BSOD problem will be appreciated!

Thanks.

Edit: I'm at a point where I'm ready to upgrade(?) her 8.1 installation to Win 10. But am hesitant to do so until I get this BSOD issue resolved.

(I say hesitant because I really like Win 8.1 and haven't found in my brief exposure to Win 10 that it's that much of an improvement over Win8.1... and in some ways is a downgrade!)

Hi speedlever,

Welcome to the 8forums.

It seems that Avast is causing problems.
Please follow the instructions given in this link and uninstall Avast.

Please keep in mind, after removing Avast you can install it again. It could be possible that something became corrupt somehow which caused a wrong request to the internet, seeing that the NETIO (Network In/Output system) is being involved.

Read more

Hello,

I was just wondering, as the title says, if it's possible to buy a backlit keyboard from Lenovo or any other place for my laptop? If not possible to buy from Lenovo directly, any other suggestions?

I bought a Lenovo Yoga 500-14IBD (14" screen, to confirm) and I am pretty happy with it for the amount it cost, but ideally it would also have a backlit keyboard. But as this isn't a flag ship or even premium device to an extent this feature is not present - even though backlit keyboards in my opinion shouldn't just be exclusively found in premium devices.

I'm not big on customising computers more than just simple things like upgrading the RAM but I would definitely consider installing a backlit keyboard in this laptop if the installation wasn't too difficult and the keyboard itself isn't too expensive.

Thanks,

A:Y500 - Buy a Backlit Keyboard from Lenovo or Anyon...

Unfortunately, each keyboard is usually made for that specific build line. Unless the Yoga 500 14 has a backlit keyboard as an option, you'll be likely unable to find one, unless someone modifies them (which in itself is very difficult due to the thin profile of keyboards nowadays).

Hi guys, this is my first post in these forums. Now, I searched a lot for a solution to my problem, but now I'm creating this thread.I got a Lenovo Ideapad Y500, and it worked really well for like a month, then I started hearing this really loud whirring noise and some vibration coming from the left side of the laptop, near the heat vents. I shut my laptop off and when I turned it backon It was gone. But now the noise is back and whenever I reboot my laptop is goes away but then it comes back after a while. Also, whenever I run the dust removal thingy in the Lenovo energy management app, It gets really loud then it goes away.I don't really feel lots of air coming out from the vent on the leftside of the laptop. I think it might be a fan problem but my laptop stays around 45-65 Celsius mostly. I don't know how hot it runs when I play games, though. Any help on this unnatural whirring sound that starts after a while is really appreciated.

My power adapter to my Y500 Idea pad is messed up. The wiring inside must have gotten damaged somehow and is now faulty. It only charges my laptops when angle in certain positions, or goes in and out. It's the 170W AC adapter one, but is there really a difference in using one of the small Wattage Adapters? The 170W one is just way out of price-range for me so I'm looking for one of the cheaper versions. I found one online that is "Y500 AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A". Would that work with my laptop?  I don't understand how different wattages affect my laptop (I'm assuming it affects charging time) so any help is appreciated. I generally keep my laptop plugged in with the battery removed, so I don't have to worry too much about charging the battery, if that's any help.Thank you!

Hi guys, thought I?d make a complete guide to help people who want to install or upgrade an mSata SSD Drive (Solid Slate Drive). If you don?t own one already, they are basically SSDs in a smaller form factor and can be found on sale frequently, please note that mSata SSDs are just a little more expensive than ordinary larger SSDs due to their smaller size. Let?s jump to the hardware installation process. Hardware Installation: 1. Remove back cover of your Lenovo y500 laptop by removing unmarked screws.2. The mSata card slot is located to your lower right while the battery pack should be away from you. Notice that theres another mSata slot that is currently being occupied by a wifi card. 3. Discharge yourself from static electricity by touching a metal object. Place the mSata card into the slot and secure it with a single screw.4. Close the back cover and secure with screws. At this point: BIOS (can be accessed by pressing the F2 key) should have properly identified the mSata SSD Drive. Going Ahead: You want BIOS Boot Priority Order to be the mSata SSD First, your HDD Second, and the others last (including Network-iPv4 stuff and Lenovo Recovery). Important: **Keep it in UEFI Method.*** DO NOT choose Legacy. If the above doesn?t work, I?d turn off Secure Boot. Software Installation:- Use a 3rd party HDD Clone software such as Macrium Reflect or AOMEI to clone the contents of your HDD to your mSata SSD.- Copy the partitions WINRE_DRV, SYSTEM_DRV, LRS_ESP... What about One Key Recovery? Does OKR work after making the switch?  Secondly can you tell me what kind of mSata SSD did you choose? I was thinking of buying the Plexor M5M 256GB as I heard of a lot of Crucial M4 fail. The third question is: How do you set up Macrium cu align the data on the clone in 4k sectors. is ti done automatically or there is a special setting.

My apologies if this post has been answered previously, but all which i have searched has not granted me a solution.......................

Hello people of Lenovo forums, i have been searching pages and trying to find solutions in regards to my laptop experiencing some problems with running games- i have never expererienced these problems before and as of yesterday problems began.
My laptop contains 6 GB RAM, i-5 3230M CPU and graphics card as stated above, running on Windows 8.1 Enterprise. I have tried a number of driver updates and downloads, sourced from the NVIDIA Control Panel and from the NVIDIA website, but none have improved my laptops condition.
I have been running Fallout 4 since release day (obviously....) and it has been working seemlessly on a high detail without any issues. Now when i run the game i am greeted by the usual menu screen, upon pressing continue or load game the loading screen appears (typically not showing the rotating image/s for sometime). Occasionally i am given the error message "Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered" ("Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernal Mode Driver, Version 354.35..") and the game force closes. This is the same for games like Stick of Truth and Shadow of Mordor. Again i have proceeded to download one driver directly from the NVIDIA Control Panel; and one other from the NVIDIA website titled "358.91-desktop-win8-64bit......". NEITHER HAVE DONE ANYTHING.
I am still able to r... Read more

I have this problem where it takes approximately 5 minutes to boot up my Lenovo Y500 (Windows 8, 64-bit) laptop. I had this laptop for almost an year. It was fine in the beginning, took around 20 seconds to boot. However, over time when I restart my computer because of the windows update or defraging, I noticed that it took extremely long to boot, like 5 minutes. It would be stuck on the Lenovo logo with the spinning circle for 5 minutes. After that there is no problem getting to my desktop. I assumed my HDD (1 terabyte) had a problem. I ran all different programs to diagnose the HDD but it all said it was in "OK" status. So, I did the chkdsk on the CMD and it prompted me that it'll start when I restart my laptop. So I did and now it's stuck on scanning and repairing drive (C: 27% complete for almost 12 hours. I am not sure how long I have to wait and if it's going to be 27% forever. I have approximately 250 GB / 1 TB on my HDD. I tried doing recovery but it would not work either. If I tried booting through safe mode, it would continue to do the same thing, Scanning and repairing drive (C 27% complete and stuck there. So finally, I tried going for the recovery USB boot drive since I cannot use the recovery built-in the laptop nor have the recovery disc. However, I was looking in Google how to make a recovery USB for windows 8 (64-bit) but it all looked like you have to be in Windows 8 in order to make a recovery USB drive, but I am stuck on the Lenovo logo screen. I... Read more
