I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi All,

OK, first I am not sure if I am still infected, but the computer is still not acting right and considering everything I don't trust it .

Running Win Xp / MCE Version 2002 SP 2

I run NIS 2008, last full scan was 3/31/09, and last update was 4/1/09. Run NIS religiously, always keep subscription/updates up to date.

Ran MBAM 4/2/2009 DB 1939 - now clean
SuperAntiSpyware 4/04/2009 7:10 AM Core 3829 - now clean

Here is the scenario.

On 4/1 Firefox began crashing erratically. I did the update for 3.0.8
When I restarted Firefox I could not get an Internet connection, even though IE7 connected fine.
I did a system reboot, at that time decided to go forward with Microsoft update to SP3 (I never reboot my computer, usually leave it running and just hibernate).
AFter that, system would load, prompt for user/pass but then just go to wallpaper, nothing else.
System would just hang there, did several reboot attempts.

System would give black screen on Safe Mode, would still hang with Wallpaper on "Last Known Configuration".
AFter that used MSCONFIG to get system running with wireless connection. At that point noticed several things:
*Google in Firefox and IE would redirect search results randomly to different pages
*Explorer.exe even though not technically running, was eating a LOT of memory, I am talking 350K+ and up,
Tried to run DDS.scr, just blipped the Dos prompt and disappeared. Would not run.
Uninstalled MS SP 3.
Got system up and running on Safe Mode with ... Read more

I've starting having a problem where my current browser window just out of the blue will no longer function. Clicking on any link with only cause the tab to read "connecting..." and it will hang there forever. I can start a new brower (not just a tab) and it will work fine...until it eventually hangs as well. Could be minutes...could be hours. No real pattern on time. I just shutdown IE and restart IE. All would be fine again.

I had the similar issue with IE6. I initial browser would not work when started, but if I left it open and started another one, the 2nd attempt would work fine. If I then shutdown the first browser, the second would then hang.

It's more of a nuisance than a problem, but I figured I'd post and see what feedback was offered.

Running on an internal network and W2k3 server. Problem seems to be isolated to my workstation.

It seems that my IE is either becoming unstable or not responding on a (more less) regular basis. Each time it hangs and I am able to bring it back up the task scheduler is missing from the sis tray and some other icon replaces it. I have run the norton disc dr and it finds no problems. I also run a firewall and NAV on a regular basis and it finds no problems.

What is my next step?

A:Internet explorer hangs

you may spyware -
post a hjt log

Download and copy hijackthis to its own folder , it makes backups so keeping them separate and available can be useful.

Note the Spyware tools websites are very often under attack and so I have provided more than 1 location to download from:

http://www.sherrylynn.us/privacypolicy (this has an older version 1.97 - if you can not get to any of the above sites)

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”.
Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad.
Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.
DO NOT FIX ANYTHING wait advice from one of the many security experts in this forum.

I currently do not have the skill/competence to advise and poor advice can be far more damaging to your PC with this software, and so I will be unable to add any advice on the log and so will nolonger be replying to your post with regards to the HJT issue, so please have patience and wait for one of the secruity experts to provide further detailed advice

i will however, be notified when you post the log

My IE6 has suddenly stopped working. I know my connection is fine because Firefox, Outlook and other programs that access the internet are all working. IE6 just hangs on a white screen and no web page can be opened. I've tried disabling my firewall (ZoneAlarm) and I uninstalled my anti-virus (Kaspersky), this had no effect. I have also tried removing IE from the Windows component list and then reinstalling it, and reinstalling SP2, nothing has fixed it. I also tried the "netsh winsock reset" command. I've been having a problem with Internet Explorer lately that seems to be only getting worse.
I'm running IE7. I will be working on a project and one browser window will hang. But then my entire computer will slow down or quit. When I attempt to close the browser window I get 5 - 6 messages asking if I would like to quit a nonresponsive program.

When I tried to quit the program from task manager it shows duplicates of each open window. I checked the processes on each one and half go to iexplorer.exe and the other half refer to Explorer.exe. I've run multiple virus scans and checked the help pages at microsoft.

Changing browsers at this time is not an option since the business software I connect with only works with Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.

Thank you in advance for your consideration...

I'm hitting a problem I've never seen before.
I enter "www.lastminute.com" into the address field of IE11 and hit Enter. The IE window clears, displays a white background, then the whole PC system hangs: mouse pointer frozen, no keyboard, can't Ctrl/Alt/Del. The only way forward is to force a power-off by holding the power button down.

System restarts okay, as if nothing happened. There's no "Windows was shut down unexpectedly" message or anything.

Relaunching IE brings up the option to restore the last session. if I do that, the system hangs totally again, exactly the same as before.

If I don't restore the last IE session, I can do anything I like on the PC including internet access, using Outlook, even using IE to renew my Office 365 Home subscription. But if I navigate to www.lastminute.com it will hang the system again.

Any idea what might be happening?

thanks for help, as ever

You know, it could be a plugin installed I IE11 that is causing the issue; if you go toTools - Manage Addons, look through the list for Toolbars and extensions, the one that usually causes issues is the Flash or Shockwave, but sometime security program addons can to that too.

Any Thoughts...===========Hello While we understand your frustration at having to wait, please note that Bleeping Computer deals with several hundred requests for assistance such as yours on a daily basis. As a result, our backlog is quite large as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Although our MRT Team members work on hundreds of requests each day, they are all volunteers who work logs when they can and are able to do so. No one is paid by Bleeping Computer for their assistance to our members.Further, our malware removal staff is comprised of team members with various levels of skill and expertise to deal with thousands of malware variants, some more complex than others. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. In either case, neither of us want someone to assist you who is not familiar with your issue and attempt to fix it.We ask that once you have posted your log and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your thread or make further replies until it has been responded to by a member of t... I am new to these forums. Recently I have had problems when trying to use internet explorer. When I open internet explorer it hangs after a few seconds and then I will have to end the program because it is not responding. Coincidently, AOL Instant Messenger also does the same thing when I try to open it. I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and I am able to access the internet using that program. In addition, I created a new user account and internet explorer does work on that account. I do not think this program is related to spyware. I have ran numerous HJT logs and I have ran many other tests. I have previously had spyware on my computer and internet explorer was never affected by it. When I go into my event viewer I see a lot of errors logged. Thanks for the help. Any suggestions are appreciated.

What kindof errors are in your events log?

Also, have you downloaded and installed any Windows Updates relating to IE lately?

Is there any diagnostic software that you can recommend to diagnose my problem?

From time to time Internet Explorer closes down on me saying it has hit a problem opr else it just fails to respond. Also, from time to time, Outlook is unable to connect to one or both of my e-mail services with an error message suggesting I have entered the wrong address for them. This can happen when the system is first started or after it has been running and successfully retrieving emails for some time.

The former problem is usually, but not always, cured by restarting IE. The latter is sometimes cured by re-starting Windows but sometimes requires me to turn off the power and ?crash? the system ? something I hate doing!

I am using a modern Dell PC which has never had the cover removed ? so I am fairly confident of it. Windows XP home edition is version 2002 with SP2. IE is version 7.0.5730.11

I connect to the internet using ADSL and a modem/router. Unless this is a recognised software problem my suspicions will fall on the router. Should I replace it without further thought?

I?d be grateful for any advice.

I am running a 32bit Toshiba Sat Pro laptop with Windows 7 and IE8, Chrome and Firefox. Ever since I installed IE9 a year or so ago I have been having problems with it. So I switched to Chrome with Firefox being my second browser. But I need three browsers and want IE to work. I uninstalled IE9 and reverted to IE8 and the symptoms are the same - it just hangs and is really slow to populate a page. For instance, it just won't let me type in text to login to Twitter (normally, sometimes it does after a long while). If I open another tab to open up another site, it takes forever to load and just hangs. This is an IE problem since I don't have the same problem in Chrome or Firefox. What is the cause? I know I have Java problems - it isn't working and a separate post I have done is trying to find out why. But this can't be Java-caused can it? Does anyone else have this problem?

A:Internet explorer problem - it just hangs

I've looked at forum posts and people say look at your add-ons - well fine but how do I know which is doing what? I really don't have the time to test each one or even the ability. And if you suggest to get IE8 then please tell me or show me where I can download it and how to uninstall IE9.

A:Internet explorer 9 (IE9) problem - it just hangs

You don't need to download IE8 because Windows saved it when you installed IE9. Just uninstall IE9 and Windows will roll back to IE8. To uninstall IE9:

Control Panel >> Programs & Features.
"Show/View updates".
Windows Internet Explorer 9 will be at or near the bottom of the list.

Hi, I've been having problems with this computer and initially posted about problems with it in the Maleware forum (www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/516620/even-dds-took-a-half-hour-to-finish-plus-ads-everywhere/)
In the process of fixing the adware issues I discovered a problem with Windows Updates. Particularly this one not going through. I was then directed to a forum topic here on the Windows 7 forum (www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/515456/windows-7-problems-installing-internet-explorer-11/) and went through the steps there.
However, upon trying to install KB279094 (02:42.038: INFO:    KB2729094 could not be download is not installed.) I ran into problems. I went to this page (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30566) to download the update that would not install. Recently my internet explorer 7 started launching itself and go to unknown websites : its not a normal launch since its only visible at the task manager procces page and the websites didnt show in the history file.
As I have experiance using my PC I begun doing everything I know.
After Having my computer scanned with many anti malware/spyware proggrams including - Malwarebytes,RogueRemover,Kaspersky,Avg and few more. I failed to find what was causing this and why there isnt any history records of this.
Doing some more research I found a program to view the contents of the explorers history file (IEHV) what I found is that the explorer goes to this site :

tibia-inject.com/ping.php?id=68085&conf=uwp33&infid=1375893814&infname=lol (DONT CLICK IT!!!!!!!!!)

So far I have failed to remove this but I suppose its some sort of keylogger for the game tibia. I have zemana Antilogger but it doesnt catch this 1.
All of my attempts to remove it or finding information on the web on how to remove it have not been succesfull all I found are known rogue program sites so I obviously avoided them in order to not get anything even worse.

If anyone have encountered a similar problem or can refer me to a topic on how to remove this horribly nasty infection and willing to share it here please do.

I was at my friend's house and connected his ethernet cable to my laptop. I checked my email and downloaded a document file and along came a scareware? I'm not really sure how a virus or scareware came into my laptop. It was a fake antispyware soft program. I used Superantispyware and another Mareware removal program to try and delete the virus/scareware. I think these two program did the job, but now my Internet Explorer won't work. I think it is something I did with these two programs, but I'm not sure. This is my hijackthis log below, can anyone please help me solve this problem? Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Recently i have purchased a new web design for my web hosting company website, the website template was ok at the start but after i customised it everything went pearshaped, i use the built-in HTML editor in cPanel which is a web hosting control panel to edit my website viewing it from Mozilla Firefox, everything looks ok and the website was getting on great but when i went to view my website on Internet explorer everything looked messed up the text was everywhere the images where misplaced, so i though this is just my PC playing up again so i asked my friend who has both IE7 & IE8 Beta, it was roughly the same, i don't no what to do anymore. A:Internet Explorer Won't open 1 website.

Your log is actually clean. Here's a couple tools to try, let me know if they work in resolving your problem.

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Go to this site to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Download WinsockFix and unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it.

I have Windows 10 build 1511 and use IE11 as my default browser. I find that many websites I visit - nearly 25% - cause the browser to hang. When this happens, a message will appear at the bottom of the browser stating "sitename has stopped responding"
with a recover webpage button, and the browser becomes completely unresponsive, forcing me to have to crash it. If I relaunch IE and go to the same site, the issue happens again.
I have made sure I have all the latest Windows updates installed, I have run IE with add-ons disabled, I've reset advanced settings, normal settings, and security zone settings.  I've looked at windows Event Viewer and there are no errors in the application
or system log when the hang occurs.
I have run the troubleshooting tool in the control panel with IE performance selected.  Nothing has helped.

We have a big problem with Internet Explorer on Windows 7 x64 and June+July Monthly Rollup Updates and Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer.

I made a video illustrate that problem ? https://youtu.be/DWISubnC5sI

In two words ? IE starts sooo long and works soooo slow after problem updates. When you uninstall update ? IE fast as it can be again.

If we install some of next updates, we have IE problem:

KB4503292 (June
Monthly Rollup)

KB4507449 (July
Monthly Rollup)

KB4503259 (Cumulative
security update for Internet Explorer: June 11, 2019)

KB4507434 (Cumulative
security update for Internet Explorer: July 9, 2019)

We don?t have any problems with KB4507456 (Security-only

Today we try to install KB4512506 (August
Monthly Rollup) ? no problem, all fine. But August updates are just released and on DEFCON2 at AskWoody - too early to install.

Does somebody have same issue?

Or it is some kind of our specific issue?

I added a new user to my Windows 7 32-bit Netbook and found that most web pages would not load for the new user. Whenever I clicked on a link or typed a new URL, IE9 would stop responding but worked fine for existing users.

When launching IE9 with no add-ons, IE9 worked correctly for the new user. This put me on the right track to identify the problem.

I had the latest version of Adobe Flash installed; however, I went to the control panel and uninstalled Flash. I then went to the Adobe website and downloaded and reinstalled flash. Now IE9 is working for all users.

I hope this helps someone else.
