No Bluetooth on Thinkpad yoga 15...

Q: No Bluetooth on Thinkpad yoga 15...

I recently acquired a Thinkpad yoga 15 laptop and while playing with the options I realised it completely lacked Bluetooth functionality. I have tried updating the Intel PROSet Bluetooth software, updating the network adapter drivers, disabling the adapter altogether and reenabling it through the BIOS. I don't know if the Bluetooth adapter is supposed to appear as a different adapter in the Device Manager or if only the Intel Dual-Band AC 7265 is supposed to show up (under the Advanced tab, Bluetooth is labeled as Active). No bluetooth option is present in the PC and devices options menu... I even reset to factory settings in case it was an issue with a third party program, but even there, same situation. Am I missing something? Please help me to get this feature working!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

So I'm really at a loss with this issue.  I've done so much troubleshooting to no avail.  Removed soundcard and bluetooth and reinstalled.  Installed new drivers.  Deleting and repairing devices. Changing the WiFi to "Prefer 5.2GHz band".  Other troubleshooting based on discussions on other forums... The Problem. Brand new Thinkpad P71.  I have two of the same external speakers I've used with my iPhone via Bluetooth to stream audio and never had a problem.  The speakers are the Oontz 3XL. When I connect with my P71, it can go 24 hours or two minutes, but it will just suddenly stop playing audio.  The blue light on the speaker will turn off.  To get it to work again, I'll have to close the audio app and reconnect the Bluetooh.  Then it will run for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours and disconnect again. I also just bought a brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen).  Exact same problem.  Did all the same troubleshooting. I mostly stream Sirius XM from a browser (and have tried different browsers as well).  I also play audio from iTunes.  The weird thing with iTunes is that when this happens, the Play/Pause button in the software will also stop working, unless I close the app and restart. It's definitely a Lenovo problem, since I am encountering the same problem on both systems.  I don't know if this could be related to BitDefender and/or Malware Bytes (both are inst... I am using a Windows 10 64-bit system and having bluetooth issues due to broken drivers. Reproduction:- go to Windows 10 settings- click on bluetooth- let the system search for devices- (optional) switch off and on the bluetooth in order to reset the search Error:Windows does not find any devices. No headset, no controller, no phone. It was different a while ago, I could connect all these devices without difficulties. It is a driver error for sure, as I also booted a Live CD with Arch Linux distro, loaded bluez and bluez-utils, activated the bluetooth.service and did a device search with scan on in bluetoothctl. It immediately found all devices. I did try drivers on your support page: http://support.lenovo.com/de/de/...I did try one for Windows 8.1 x64 and one for Windows 7 x64. I also tried the automatic installation through Lenovo System Update. These all did happen on clean installation of Windows 10, no other software installed. How am I supposed to get bluetooth back running on Windows 10 again?

Hi.

Do you see the Bluetooth recognized on the "Windows Device Manager"?
Since you booted Linux and bluetooth is working I don't think it may be a hardware issue like you said.

Just in case did you updated the BIOS from the support site of your model ? There are some updated on the BIOS related to Window 10 compatibility.

I'm not sure which Bluetooth device you have on it. Is it the one from Intel. Maybe you can an updated driver on the Intel site, or sometimes I use DriverEasy (not from Lenovo) to help me find a newer driver on their database.

I hope this helps in something.

Hallo! I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

I have two staff members with different Yoga models, but with the same pen issue. Say, for instance, OneNote is open. The pen doesn't draw or write, but it can select and still be recognized. When I try using an old stylus from an HP Elitebook, it works TOTALLY fine - even the button on the pen functions properly. This suddenly started after months of the Lenovo pens working fine. I thought maybe it was a driver issue, but it can't be as the HP pen works.... I'm thinking it's the pen itself just getting worn down? It looks okay though but may be just a little loose... Any help / direction would be greatly appreciated!

Disclosure:  I received these laptops from Lenovo as part of their advocacy program, so huge thanks to the folks over at Lenovo. I don't receive compensation for my review, and as always, all opinions are my own.

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga is first modern ThinkPad that I've ever owned.  I?ve been using Lenovo?s Ideapad lineup for a very long time, and while I?ve used ThinkPads in the past, the X1 Yoga will be my first personal ThinkPad that I own.  So how does it stack up to the Yoga 910?  Let?s find out! I have the i7 UHD model of the Yoga 910 and the i5 FHD model of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga.  I tried out the latest Yoga 920, but I haven?t tried the latest X1 Yoga yet? hopefully, I will!

Hardware & Design
Even though both laptops carry ?yoga? in their name, the hardware behind them is vastly different.  The ThinkPad X1 Yoga has the classic ThinkPad black design, which is made of a carbon-fiber hybrid for the top cover and a magnesium-PPS hybrid for the bottom cover.  The Yoga 910 has a similar design from the Lenovo?s Yoga lineup, with an aluminum build throughout.

The ThinkPad only comes in two colors: classic black and silver; whereas the Yoga has a whole suite of colors to choose from, such as silver, copper, bronze, and even a few exclusive designs, such as the Vibe designs for the Yoga 920 and the Star Wars themed designs for the Yoga 910.

I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

Just curious, why is the new Thinkpad X1 Yoga I7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, FHD about $1,000 more than the similarly equipped commercial Lenovo 910?

Is it the ThinkPad brand name? The eraser nubbin? The 2 combined?

Just curious.

I've got a friend who needs a new laptop. She likes the touch/fold aspect of my 1st gen Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Do you all think she would be happy with the commercial Yoga 910?

Any real reason to get the new plain FHD ThinkPad X1 Yoga instead of the similarly equipped commercial Yoga available at Best Buy besides spending an extra $1000 for the ThinkPad brand name?

I've owned 6 various ThinkPads since 2011 FWIW. I get it, they're cream of the crop. But I kinda got sticker shock when I just priced out a plain FHD (and we need nothing more) X1 Yoga. About  $2,800, wow!

Opinions and advice -- no spam please (thank you!) -- welcome.

Best to everyone...

A:Why is the ThinkPad X1 Yoga $1,000 more than a similar Yoga 910?

@Jelks, The biggest difference I see between the X1 Yoga (2nd) and the Yoga 910 is active pen support which seems to be missing from the 910. You could use a capacitive stylus, but expect fingertip resolution, not pinpoint, and no pressure-sensitivity. Fewer USB ports: no HDMI or MicroSD; no Thunderbolt. No TPM module, if you need to store encrypted creditials, e.g., for BitLocker. Not sure about battery life; they claim up to 9 hours of local video for the 910 vs. up to 15 of MobileMark for the X1. Not an apple-to-apple comparison. You're not going to get the (soon to be patched, at least for now) security hole that is Intel's vPro management tech. You may not get Windows 10 Pro, possibly just Home (but you could always give Microsoft the money to upgrade if you need BitLocker or Remote Access). You're not going to get all the "mil-spec" design and testing etc, but if it's a personal machine, you're probably going to avoid abusing it. As you suggest, the "wave" keyboard -- including the trackpoint "eraser nubbin" -- is definitely going to be more expensive on the ThinkPad than the plain Yoga keyboard. I used two generations of ThinkPads (T61p and W520), but about 3 years ago I switched to a Dell XPS 13. A year or so ago, I ordered a X1 Yoga 1st gen for my wife and she likes it very much, so I am pretty familiar with the design and capabilities. TLDR: I think most people would be happy with the 910 vs. X1 unless they want the active pen. Als... I bought this used SL510 Thinkpad in 2015; it states on the bottom that it's a basic model.  The fullmodel no. is: LVK-TPZ-2847(B). It's operating systm is Windows 10 which lists Bluetooth in the"Settings" menu under "Devices."  However there's no mention of Blutooth on either the adhesive (white paper) sticker or the larger (black) label under that.  I checked the "Device Manager" list for Bluetooth but it's not listed nor is there any mention of it on the drop-down list for the WI-FI networks in my vicinity. The particular audio device I want to pair this SL510 Thinkpad with is an "LG-LAP340 SoundPlate", other info. on the box it was in: (DUSALLK) 421S1547-CMB. The manufacturing date is February, 2014.  I did call their tech. support dept., she seemed too give two different answers. And yes, I did have the Sound plate on with "Bluetoth'' enabled. Is tere any software I can download from your website or maybe Microsoft to enable "pairing" between this laptop & this sound plate or do I need to buy a USB adapter for Bluetooth?                    Signed, Ron Haag ([email protected])

A:Does the ThinkPad have Bluetooth?

Hello and welcome,

Not all SL510 models had Bluetooth.  I'm not familiar with the LVK-TPZ-2847 model format, although 2847 looks like the base of the MT-M.  More used to seeing things like 2847-QJU for example.

If you can find an MT-M like that on the laptop try entering it in the search box in SUPPORT above.  If it's recognized there should be a machine info drop-down that could tell you something.

You can also have a look at the withdrawn products PSREF doc for SL510s:  ThinkPad SL and Edge Notebooks; 2009 to 2013 (withdrawn models)

Hi
Im assuming since you have a think pad that the keyboard and mouse are USB, the interlink remote is also usb?

Have you upgraded the MS drivers, Hae you tried One attached by itself to see if it stops, then another, then the last.

I just bought a Thinkpad Yoga from Best Buy and upon opening, found that the pen pro included does not work. I'm on the most updated version of all the drivers, and the touch screen and multitouch with my hands still work. After taking an multimeter to measure the voltage of the pen, I found that the pen just wasn't charging. I'm a bit hesitant to check the voltage of the charging silo itself but my suspicion is that the pen is dead. Could this be a software problem? Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Should I return to pen and the laptop to bestbuy or just the pen? Or should this issue be brought to Lenovo instead?

I don't have a 460, but I do have a 260, which is a smaller, but VERY similar machine.  I had the same problem and I believe it is not the pen.  Before you do anything, you need to unplug the machine and disable the internal battery.  You do that by going into the BIOS and under the config tab, look under power.  There will be an option to disable the battery.  When this is selected, the machine will turn off.  The battery is re-enabled the next time you plug it in.  IF THE BATTERY IS NOT DISCONNECTED, YOU WILL CREATE A SHORT AND BLOW A IRREPLACEABLE FUSE ON THE MOTHERBOARD.  Remove the pen and look inside, where you will see 2 contacts.  My guess is that one or both got pushed back into the housing during manufacturing process.  You can take something fine and sharp like a needle and gently free them so they will pop back out.  Once I popped mine out, the pen charged very quickly and I never had another problem with it.

Hello, I have been having my T460 (20FN003LUK) for 6 months. During that time I have never worried about bluetooth. Recently I just purchased a bluetooth headset for my phone. Then I had a thought to try using the headset with my T460. I've been looking in the control panel and device manager but I couldn't find any bluetooth setting. I searched online for solutions but I got more confused.  So I was wondering if my particular model ThinkPad T460 (20FN003LUK) does not support bluetooth. Can somebody enlighten me on this?  Thank you so much! Cheersmihsan
