I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Use a lower bitrate
Check the time of your movie, and calculate the bitrate with the bitrate calculator that comes with DivX or with my bitrate calculator from my site if you are using DivX5.11 or earlier.

If the bitrate goes under 600 kbps, resize down to 320/240 or so.

So after about an hour of and a half of editing footage, I try and save my file to my computer. It will save to 56% than stop and not start again. I have all of my files still on my computer and I have 60 gigabytes free. Why won't it simply finishing saving?

first time running into this? done it before without problems with another same size project? have you posted this question on a forum related to the video editing software? try increasing your os pagefile by 256mb or more. ususally set to system managed but overriding to a larger value like 2gb can be helpful with certain tasks. data from one point on a drive to another could be a sign of bad sectors. but 1 step at a time ; )

Hello, kali498
Welcome to TSF

My name is Billy O'Neal and I will be helping you. (Billy or Bill is fine, if you like.)
Please give me some time to look over your computer's log(s).
Please take note of the following:In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer.
Also, even if things appear to be running better, there is no guarantee that everything is finished. Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. :)
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
Finally, please reply using the button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Old topics are closed after 3 days with no reply, and working topics are closed after 5 days. If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just put a post here so that I know you're still here. We get a lot of people who simply leave, and if there is no contact for that amount of time I will have to assume you have "vanished" .

Hi Welcome to TSG!!
Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. Be aware it is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems

Ugrading Java:

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2.
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

Okay, i accidentally pulled the usb cord out of the computer while it was connected to my Iriver. The computer then proceeded to pop up with a message saying "Files may be lost" i looked on my Iriver iHP-120 and there it said 0 files, 0 folders, and 0 memory. I tried to hook it up to another computer and it would not register as an external harddrive and has yet to. I spent a fair chunk of money on this and i would hate for it to be broken after only 8 months of use. Please help, Firmware 1.3, Windows XP Professional.

I do not think BestBuy carries the gizmo connector, so I can use the old joystick.

Where to buy please? Thank you.

Howdy. I just installed and ran Comodo System Cleaner, primarily for the registry cleaner, and now I can't save files off of the internet or install programs (usually). When I try to save pictures, I am told "There are no more files."
When I tried to install a program, the installer said every file path I tried was "The install folder specified is not valid."

What the balls? This clearly has to do with my running of Comodo. I don't even know where to begin. Ideas?

Every time I start my computer, Internet Explorer pops up with the "Secure PC Cleaner" website. Shortly thereafter, a "system message!" appears in my notifications toolbar (the bottom corner, by the clock? Did I get the name right?) which takes my browser to "PC Privacy Cleaner." This happens every time I start my computer, and sometimes randomly in the middle of the day. I don't know how to make it stop! I followed the instructions in the Preparation Guide, and my DSS reports are below. You can do it. See this DR help link:

Step 2 ? Download the ISO Image of Windows 7
Please obtain these links by contacting Digital River customer support. The Windows 7 ISO file is large (>2GB). Please verify that you have sufficient hard disk space to download this file and install Windows 7. Approx. 20GB will be enough for both operations.
Download the Windows 7 ISO image and save the file to a location you can remember. The download may take a considerable amount of time on slower internet connections.

I've been following the above thread where a guy kept trying to download a Windows 7 iso from Digital River, and it was wrong size/'not an iso' etc. Even though I don't need any iso's myself, I thought I'd have a go at downloading one to see what the OP's problem was. Sure enough I had the same result - 2.49GB (not 3.09GB for x64). Twice in fact.

That was browser download, so I tried 2 separate download managers. Seemed fine at first, but both stopped at 99.9%. Curious . . .

I'm starting to wonder if Microsoft are playing the old 'poison torrent' game - record labels sometimes release bad torrents of music CDs into the wild and fans download them (illegally) but are disappointed when it's a fake. After a few more useless attempts to get the CD, the pirate gives up and buys the product (well that's the theory).

Pretty soon all computers on sale will be Windows 8, and a lot of folk will buy one but want to downgrade to W7. MS seem to be moving the goalposts on that scenario, but no probs - we can just get a W7 iso from Digital River. Or can we ???

Just like the 'poison torrents', after several failed W7 Digital River downloads I guess MS expect us all to give up and buy into W8 (and buy their video's + mp3's).

Anyhow, at least I haven't broken any EULA law - all the iso's I downloaded tonight weren't copies of W... Read more

A:Something wrong at Digital River ?

You can remove your tin foil hat - sort of.

I used Pale Moon to download the ISO mentioned in the thread and it was fine
(e.g. I could mount it via Virtual CloneDrive and look around at the files...
...I could also build a virtual machine from it via VirtualBox.).

I also downloaded two other ISOs at the same time. One was fine, but X17-59465 was weird.
The last ISO in the screenshot above should be that same size as the first ISO.
X17-59465.iso looked fine.
I could mount it via Virtual CloneDrive.
I could even start the OS install process, but it barfed:

Notice the size being reported during the download.
That download was the 3rd try.
The completed download below it was 2nd try.

And these two download attempts were via another ISP:

Both of those downloads were via IE10. Both claimed that the download was interrupted. I looked at the file size of the ".partial" file before hitting the Resume button. The ".partial" file was the same exact file size (2.619...) shown in the first image of this post. Pressing Resume started the download all over again - but the "resumed" download made no claim of an interruption. Each second try just gave me the 2.619... file.

How odd.

There is no trial version of Win7, only a 30 day grace period before you must activate so you can decide if this is an install you want to keep. You should already own a license. If so then read carefully over the steps to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7. It discusses in Step 1 how to find replacement media.

In our household we have two students, and so ordered a copy of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Home Premium in both x64 and x86 versions - a total of 4 products from Digital River.

Having used their download manager to download these files, I now have 6 files: 4 .exe files (as expected) plus 2 files named setup1.box and setup2.box.

The .exe files are, however, only just over 70KB each, setup1.box is almost 3GB and setup2.box is 163KB.

Running the Home PRemium versions fails immeditaely, saying it can't find the required files. Running the Pro x64 .exe file starts to build a .iso file ("Unloading the box"), but then fails with an unspecified error.

Any ideas?

I have just had an email from Digital River, that I will be getting a full refund for the Windows 7 upgrade within the next 30 days, for the problems caused. I haven't even emailed them to complain (yet!)

The email also states that if I ordered the backup cd's these would still be dispatched.

Ok, I know some have cracked it, and others haven't, but I thought I would share this one with you.

I am running a MacBook Pro, and had Windows XP running under bootcamp. Downloaded from Digital River and had all the problems. Finally got it to boot, but wouldn't install due to unable to create folder.

Scrubbed bootcamp partition and tried using Parallels. So far so good, but not for long. Won't take my product key as I have the upgrade product 32bit, but at least it got that far.)

Now, reloading windows XP on bootcamp, and my XP disc has a scratch on it and can't be read

Ah well

Any help would be great.

Quite a bit to clean..Lets start with this first....

But first get this Purityscan uninstaller and run it...

Go to Start > Control Panels > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs if listed:
PuritySCAN By OIN, OIN, OuterInfo or similar.

Reboot and delete this folder if found:
C:\Program Files\PurityScan\

Please download Combofix: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/combofix.exe
and save to the desktop.

1. Double click on combo.exe & follow the prompts.
2. When finished, it will produce a logfile located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
3. Post the contents of that log in your next reply with a new hijackthis log.

* Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause your system to stall/hang.
* Do not proceed with the rest of the fix if you fail to run combofix
* Disable script blocking if you have NAV installed so it will not interfere with the fix. Trojan Hunter has been reported to detect combofix as Worm.Qiv.100.

Please save and run this download. It will copy the results to your clipboard. Will you copy and paste them back here please.

Please post back a new HJT,ComboFix.txt and the Clipboard text

I have used Ccleaner and REVO to clean and maintain my Windows environment.

So I am looking for your thoughts and comments as to what you recommend for cleaning Windows and Windows registry. And if you could add why I would really appreciate it. I feel that registry health is key to Windows functions. I chose Ccleaner and REVO after asking a similar question over four years ago. Thanks in advance. Stu

A:Windows cleaner, registry cleaner recomendations PLEASE!

As is commonly known, Windows tweakers, cleaners and registry cleaners are useless. There's no need to use any of them. Windows is totally capable of taking care of its registry by itself.

This extract from How To Geek:

In reality, registry entries aren?t a drag on your computer?s performance. The registry is a massive database containing hundreds of thousands of entries and individual registry entries are fairly tiny. Even removing a few thousand entries won?t make an appreciable dent in the size of your registry. Now, if our computers only had a tiny amount of memory or an extremely slow hard disk, there could be some value to shrinking the registry a bit. But this will be completely unnoticeable on computers in use today. We don?t live in the days of Windows 95 anymore. The Windows registry has also become more robust as Windows itself evolved from Windows 95 to Windows 7 and 8.

Windows just isn?t getting confused and slowing down because you have a folder (known as a ?key? in registry parlance) dedicated to an uninstalled program in your registry. It also isn?t getting confused because certain entries point to an outdated program.

No legitimate benchmarks showing a performance increase as a result of a registry cleaner have ever been released. If a registry cleaner offered boosted performance, we would have some benchmarks by now. It?s anecdotal evidence, but the majority of our readers didn?t find that registry cleaners helped improve their perf... Read more

I heard about this just now in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 thread:

You are forced to use microsofts new downloads page which requires you to input your authetation code in before download. As mine is a OEM licence it won't let me and advises me to contact my vendor

As Jann from Heidoc reports in Windows 7 Direct Download Links as of now only English and Spanish are still up, links being replaced by a new MS Recovery Center that provides ISO's for a retail Product Key.

I'd also had heard from SIW2 who couldn't get it to take his retail key due to a Language error. I also had the same error on two of my retail Keys. The address we were using is Microsoft Software Recovery

But if it's not allowing Product Keys from COA stickers then it is another ridiculous attack on the ability of MS customers to get the best possible install of the OS they bought with their PC even after over a million consumers have done so following Clean Reinstall Windows 7. I honestly thought we were beyond this, but apparently not.

I'm going to wait a day before bringing this up to the MVP forums to see if anything changes.

The biggest problem is how the download is delivered (an exe file), then expanding the file, then burning the files to a bootable ISO.... Personally, I wouldnt go through all those hoops if it were free... and apparently a lot of other people agree..

Of course I would have to buy a joystick and would very much prefer the very simple, single calibered joysticks that we used to use (OLD BLUE) that will connect to my Windows XP.

Any opinions, or suggestions please?

These days, I am feeling very nostalgic (not to mention, old and weary), and I do miss those good old days where life was much simpler.

I have four usb 3.0 ports, one of them has max speed of 35-41 MB/s, tested with two different usb 3.0 drives.
Could a driver error cause just one port to be slow?

Core i5 3337U 1.8
Chipset Intel HM77 Express

A:Can one slow usb 3.0 port be river related?

Hi there
some of the passport / other self powered UBB3 drives aren't particularly fast - although faster than the usb2 disks. There is still an issue with Native usb 3 drivers for windows 8 -- maybe latest version of 8.1 might have fixed these.

Note also a lot of mobos that don't have native USB3 ports won't give you very fast usb3 speed with a pci extension card - bus speed isn't fast enough for true usb3 speed.

New laptops fitted with usb3 ports should provide full usb3 speed provided your device can handle it.

Note it's possible that your "Slow" usb 3 port is not a "powered one". Otherwise sounds like a defect - all 4 should have the same characteristics unless the manual says the spec is different.

Well, here it's now 00:13, October 22nd, was wondering if anyone knows when the Windows 7 download from Digital River will be up? Hopefully before I go to sleep?

A:Digital river student download?

I'm in the same boat. I imagine they will stagger the downloads so as not to cause chaos on their servers, but I'm really hoping to install tonight! I will post if I get my email tonight.... anyone have any insider info??

I purchased the student offer version of Windows 7 yesterday top up grade from XP, as for ?30 I thought I couldn't go wrong.

So there I was this morning thinking I could set a side a few hours to get it all up and running but 11 hours later i still dont even have all of the first .box file downloaded!

I live off campus (in the UK), but still have a cable broadband connection and can usually expect file download speeds of 300-800kb/s as reported by the windows download window.

Now I know that there is probably high demand on Digital River's servers at the moment, but still... My download has only managed 40-50kb/s on average with a couple of short peaks to 70-90kb/s.

At this rate it'll be tomorrow evening before I get to a point where I can install.

Anyone else having this problem, or ideas of how to speed things up? I ask as i can't find anywhere else which mentions this problem, only people talking about creating .iso files as if their download flew by and now they're installing.

Hello! While I know that this is the very first day of Windows 7 release and everything, I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar problem and had found a way to fix it.
So, I finally got Windows 7 Professional Upgrade (since I'm a student) to start downloading through my Campus' proxy and after downloading smoothly for a half an hour or so it hit 68% and paused. At first I thought nothing of it, but now when I try to click "resume" it downloads about .01-.02mb of data and then pauses again all in less than a second.
Anyone know how I might fix this? I've exited the Download Manager and started it again a couple of times, and restarted my computer and have unplugged/plugged back in my Ethernet cord.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

A:Digital River Download Pausing Constantly?

My download has been pausing at the 68% mark too. Maybe it will budge during off-peak downloading hours.

A few days ago I wanted to download Windows 7 Profesional 32 bit iso from Digital River. It started to download and then it stopped to download at 10.9 mb. I tried to download it with Free Download Manager, Internet Download Manager, DownThemAll but it also stopped at 99%. This problem is on all my browsers. I didn't have any Internet Connection problems while downloading the iso. I tried to download files that are larger than 2GB but its the same problem. I am on a DSL connection. I need this iso to install it on another computer. How to solve this problem ?

A:Why I can't download Windows 7 Profesional 32 bit from Digital River ?

Usually what happens after 99% is that the file is moved from a temp folder to the download folder, and then scanned by your antivirus program. Try and delete all browsing history, verify there's enough free space on the disk, and temporarily disable the antivirus.

I first purchased Windows 7 Home Edition (32-bit), then upgraded online to Windows 7 Pro (32-bit).
The hal.dll corrupted and I couldn't fix the problem because I only had the Home Edition discs.

Several sources in Forums advised me to fix the problem using a boot disk from an ISO downloaded from Digital River.
That disc couldn't fix the hal.dll problem either so I did the Custom Install. That put a new installation of Windows 7 Pro on the computer.
Now I'm being asked for the Activation Key. The Key I was given when I upgraded to Pro isn't being accepted. I'm told that the Key I was given only works for the Windows 7 Pro upgrade..!

I've signed-on to the Microsoft site and followed links around for a while, but I can't find any understandable information about my problem. How do I get the Activation Key for Windows 7 Pro now that it's been reinstalled?

A:Can't find Activation Key for Windows 7 ISO from Digital River

Unfortunately I think you are going to have to install it the way you started install home first then upgrade to pro

As I posted several days ago, I am just shocked that MS didn't work with Digital River to get a solution out there ASAP...to avoid just this type of press. I really have been surprised that I didn't get an email a day or two after release day from DR or MS stating, "if you have issues, you can download the ISO from here." I mean seriously, what's the value of the ISO without a key?...and if you managed to get a cracked key, I doubt access to the install media is what is holding you back.

I am sure that this issue is DR's fault since they appear to have written the installer based on its signature...but the result is the same either way - bad press for MS and Win 7.

Anyway, just thought that I would share.

A:Is Download From Digital River Safe & Legal??

Hello Parashar,

Yes, Digital River has official Windows ISO file downloads since that is also a Microsoft site. Of course, you would need to already have a legitimate product key to use to activate with.

In the 70's, my family and I enjoyed playing Atari on TV.

Fast forward to 2012. Here are the basics.

I have a WIndows XP laptop computer (7 years old). I do not know much about computers however.

I am feeling nostalgic and am WISHING I could once again play RIVER RAID on my computer. But I don't know where to even begin.

I just read about Stella downloads but don't know if it's safe. Some say they are free, or do you buy it?

Has Atari resurrected its games for computer? Specifically RIVER RAID, that's the only one I liked.

Also, what kind of joystick would I need that would work with the XP that is basic in nature, for a one-person player?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thank you in advance.

A:Solved: Atari River Raid on Computer

Most of what you are asking (except for whether there is a PC update) would require the use of emulators. Since they are illegal because games are licensed to run only on their original machines (with some exceptions, I would imagine), we can't really give you much help in this area. But I'm sure that searching will allow you to make a decision about whether it is possible or feasible.

It looks like the Digital River iso downloads of Windows 7 are done. A person now has to enter a key on this page to get the iso. I have not confirmed yet if an OEM Windows 7 key will work. Maybe Microsoft will reinstate those links but I doubt it.

A:Microsoft Digital River iso downloads - gone for good?

Looks like they are gone. sari and Toffee informed me about it yesterday, apparently, a lot of people (including MVPs) aren't happy with that decision, but there's nothing that can be done. I have the Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bits .iso on my computer, which is one of the most popular, and I can access all the others be entering the product keys I have and also use my e5.onthehub (DreamSpark) account, but I think that uploading them and distributing them would be illegal. This is kind of stupid too. What if the person needs a recovery DVD to access the Recovery PE, but lost his product key on the sticker. The only way would be to grab it from Windows itself, but it wouldn't be bootable. Hopefully they'll make these .iso available to the public again.

legitimate copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit from them?

This is from an old thread:
Which version of Windows 7 is the DVD? If the DVD is damaged, which it sounds as if it is, then you can legitimately download a legitimate version of the same Windows 7 ISO - hint : do a search in Google using the terms "Digital River".

I bought a DVD for a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit upgrade, but my DVD has been stepped on and cracked. I have my product key. The person above made it sound like I can download the software from Digital River, even if I didn't originally buy it there, if I have a legitimate key. If not's not the case, is there another site that will let you dowload the exact same files that I can burn to DVD, in case I ever need to do a clean install?

Thanks in advance!

A:How am I supposed to download from Digital River if I didn't buy my...

Hello Eatingscabs,

When you purchase Windows 7, you are actually just purchasing the product key number. You could use any 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate installation disc to install it on your computer, then use your product key number to activate it.

You can download an official 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate ISO file below. Afterwards, you can create a bootable USB/DVD with the ISO file to install with.

I have purchased Win7 Pro 64 from Digital River. I would like to buy another Pro64 bit key but I am only allowed one Pro64 bit download. They will allow me to buy the Pro32 bit version, will the product key that comes with the Pro32 bit version allow me to install and activate another Pro64 bit install. Are the keys version specific?

A:Digital River Win7 Product Key Question

All I can say is that the normal keys are version specific, that is you can install only pro with a pro key, but they are not to my knowledge architecture specific (64/32 Bit).

However with Digital River's history on this roll out I would not state this a s fact

It will not be in three seperate files. that was a torrented fiel. It will come in either an ISO (most likely) or a vhd (doubtful). to burn you take the ISO file and burn it to dvd using an app like IMGburn, or powerISO, etc

Hey Folks,
I was wondering something. I currently have a trial of the Web Drive FTP client running on one of my computers here. A friend of mine has a server which this software connects to beautifully. I've also been able to connect it to some other servers, but at the same time, there are servers which it resists connection to and either gives me a winsoc error (error code 4504), or it gives me a server connection failed error (error code 4509). I can't find any articles regarding it's server compatibility (E.G. if it only connects to windows FTP/SFTP/Group Drive), or anything about whether it connects to Linux servers or not. The only server I ever had trouble connecting to (the one that gave me those errors), was a server of a guy who basically worships linux and disses windows and it's integrity as an OS, so he wasn't very helpful nor was he supportive in finding the issue. I am still contemplating the possibility of buying the software simply due to it's convenience, allowance of server integration with Windows Explorer, and most importantly of all of these, it's accessibility with screen readers since that is what I rely on being a visually impaired user of a computer. Any input slash experience reports would be wonderful. Thanks so much. BTW, I tried contacting SRT myself, and in order for support requests to be sent, the one sending them must be a registered user and have purchased a license. No offense to them, but that doesn't really help folks like me. ... Read more

so, I went on with buying windows7 for students (german version, since I write this from germany).
Digital River Download manager, downloads the 3 files... 2 of them are fine, but on around 50% of the 3rd file, I get the message that reads something like this:

"The destination file could not be located on the server. Digital River download manager that you are using seems to be outdated. Would you like to visit Digital River Website?"

Yes / No

When I click on "yes" nothing happens. I REINSTALLED vista completely just minutes ago, and tried downloading it again... same thing. Same error, the download cannot finish.
Anyone else experienced this or with any solution on the matter?

A:Digital River unable to find filr 3/3 on the server

Finally there's someone with the same problem: Mein Beileid btw
I am from Germany as well, bought the german 64bit upgrade for students and tried to download it via digital river. At 49% when part 3/3 starts it is stuck complaining that the file can not be found etc. same as above.

My first research has brought up that this error does not seem to be that common... let's hope for some more complaints!

I just installed Win7 from disc on my computer, Dell 8300. Came from XP. Really like Win7, very happy with it. I just have one problem, I can't boot from disc so I can reformat hard drive when I install Win7. I changed Bios settings to boot from DVD, it loads disc, does the long white bar at bottom of screen, then proceeds to blue with flower stems background page and everything stops. Stays their. My computer knowlegde is limited, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

A:Win7 Digital River Master Disc Won't Boot

You say you can't boot from the disk even after making correct BIOS boot order settings, but then describe the disk loading. How does the disk load if not booted?

Do you get the prompt to "hit any key to boot from CD/DVD drive?" If you do this, does it then begin loading with a progress bar and proceed as you say? That is booting from the DVD.

If it was not able to boot from the DVD then it would start into Windows 7 and probably bring up the Autoplay menu of the DVD in the drive. Is this what happens?

It is possible that the DVD only has the files and isn't bootable. If so, we can help you create a bootable ISO from the files to burn to a DVD.
