I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Around 4 days ago I was using my laptop when suddenly my keyboard stopped working . I went through all the common troubleshooting options but to no use . Thought my keyboard was dead so tried replacing ,turned out keybard was just fine . I took my laptop to a service center , they told me that the chipset is shorting somewhere . They said they can try replacing the chipset but it might render my laptop totally useless .  My laptop is out of warranty . Is there any chance of repairing the motherboard or do I have to get a new board?

Hi Admin and Forumers,

I have an issue with my Dell Inspiron 14R-i5-1st generation motherboard Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit in which the new battery I've bought (an OEM 3rd party battery, NOT a Dell Battery from online store) causes my laptop reboot to freeze at startup, unable to proceed to windows startup.

For your knowledge, I've been using the laptop plugged in to wall (no battery, as the battery died many months ago) until recently, it's time for me to get a new battery so it would make my life easier during travel.

When I removed the new battery, the laptop can reboot normally. I went to several PC shops, trying all available OEM, they all show similar symptom, the Windows freeze (will NOT go beyond the DELL logo) at the moment the Power Button pressed. Remove the new battery it will go normal boot again. I guess the laptop doesn't want a battery anymore (haha). I even tried using a new Dell adapter to narrow down the issue but still similar problem occur.

There are few theories I can think off;

1) All OEM battery is NO good - but that's is not entirely true. They're a lot of other Dell and Laptop users using replacement OEM (3rd party) battery and it works fine as the original.

2) One of the technicians thinks that this could be related to the motherboard issue (I've had a major motherboard repair months ago when the old battery died on me - coincidence?) But I had the motherboard repaired with a Dell Official service center. They've used a refurbished motherboa... Read more

A:Laptop will not reboot (freeze) when a new OEM battery inserted.

OK, OEM stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer", and that will be Dell.
By definition a third party manufacturer (or second party for that matter) can not be an OEM.

So what you bought was a replacement battery from a (second party) manufacturer or a (third party) reseller. Some 3rd party resellers are not so reputable.

You can have good results buying a replacement battery if you check to make sure the output voltage, amperage, and connector (the connectors are slightly different and usually color coded) are all exactly the same as the Dell original battery. You can read this info on the label on the bottom of the battery.

Some of the better replacement manufacturers and/or resellers will "certify" the battery as a replacement for your laptop model number. This means they have checked that those specs above have matched. It does not have anything to do with the quality of the battery.

So an original equipment (OEM) battery from Dell may be just what you need.

Hi, my laptop's battery is not charging. I replaced the battery with a new one, but do not load the same. By accident I retrieved the power Jack around 2 mm from the socket of the pc, and charging has begun regularly! I tried several times and I noticed that the battery will only occur if before I insert completely the plug into the pc, and then pull it of about 2 mm. What can be wrong?

Hello World.I have an old and very trusty X200 12" laptop. Sadly the other night it started getting really warm around the battery socket and the socket for the docking station (I never docked it though)... I took out the battry and the laptop cooled down again. I fugured it needed a new battery though the old battery (original Lenovo) was not even two years old. I just recieved my new battery, but same problem... Any clues? Yours Esben Taersker

A:Lenovo X200 laptop gets warm when battery is inserted

Does this happen only when the AC adapter is plugged in and it could be charging?    Batteries do get warm, but they laptop's cooling should keep them from being uncomfortable.    I would check the air circulation vents, and use some canned air and a vacuum to ensure they they are not blocked as the first step.

Hello,
My E6400 will not power on with the battery installed and will only start with AC power after I remove the battery, hold the power button for 15-20 seconds then insert the AC adapter.  I have tried installing a new battery and the same issue occurs and even went as far as unplugging the BIOS (?) battery.  Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

I have lenovo ideapad g585gc 59-356202 e1-1200, dvdrw, 4gb, 500gb, radeon hd 7310m, 15.6" led, ....
Almost 2 years old.
Yesterday it didn't want to turn on, and then I took out the battery and try without it and then turned on and everything is ok.

So,
1. with battery (with or without ac power) won't turn on
2. without battery (of course, with ac power) turn on

The problem is evidently in the battery. I want to buy a new one, but how can I be sure that the battery is really dead?

A:Lenovo won't turn on with battery, without battery turn on!

There are no good practical ways the average owner can test the battery. You have to go on the evidence.

It's not the biggest deal in the world, but it should at least work if it is part of my laptop. Appreciate any ideas or suggestions. Thnk you much,

It is not on the list of devices that are supported for the upgrade to Windows 10, so I can't say how Windows 10 will work on the system. It does not appear we have Windows 10 drivers for this system online either. Maybe another user has tried installing Win 10 on this system and can provide some additional insight.

Hi guys,
I want to overclock my Grpahics card, Ati mobility radeon.
I downloaded the ati gpu clock tool. It says my memory speed is approx 396 Mhz.
I have a laptop (HP) and my question is should i overclock it and if yes by how much and upto how much should i go. Originally my cpu temperatures go to like 40 to 45 c. so if i overclock it a little more they should go up to like 50 to 55. Depending on my temperature i can set the defaults. My specs are:

Hp Dv6-1238CA

4Gb ram

2.10 Ghz Dual core (Centrino Processor)

Windows 7 OS

512 mb dedicated graphics. Core clock 500 mhz

Has anyone ever had any experiences with overclocking GPUs (ati's)
if so please reply to this thread !

I wouldn't suggest overclocking your mobility graphics card, there wont be much of a point in doing so considering you'll only get a couple more frames you wont even notice.

I just got this Acer Aspire 4530-6823 a couple of weeks ago. It's running on Vista Home Premium 32bit. I've been using the computer for many hours a day and I have wireless on all the time. I deleted some bloat ware... hope these are not the reasons why the following is happening...

So the problem... sometimes I close to lid to go to sleep, and it doesn't. In fact, it will restart and say that it recovered from an unexpected shut down. What scared me was the blue screen error I got today. In addition, it now takes longer to go from the password screen to the desktop. It happens twice a day now... and this and other things in my life are making me really anxious.

What should I do? I know Vista has problems like these, so I was wondering whether I should just wait and hope Windows 7 is any better. Would it solve these problems? Also, if anyone knows my Acer model... is this computer the problem or is it the Vista? Thanks a ton!

A:Sleep Problems with Acer Aspire 4530-6823

If sleep doesn't work it's probably drivers. Try updating your video and sound drivers. If the laptop is relatively new look for an option to create recovery discs first. As for the BSOD's/STOP errors there is a guide I've written in my sig if you want to debug them. If not, .zip them up and upload them.

I have an Acer Aspire 4530 Notebook. And once I upgraded to 7 Ive noticed problems with the sound. I have the latest windows 7 Ultimate Drivers 64 Bit for the built in realtek card from the acer website.

This is my problem. Sound works fine. Then When I go to adjust the volume either from the bottom right icon or the dial on the front of the laptop, (Sometimes this happens its not a 100% thing which Is weird) the sound just stops. There are no error messages and or anything you just cant hear anything. And this only happens sometimes. To get it to work again I have to restart a few times or completely power it off.

Anyone have any idea what this is?

Thanks in Advance.

A:Windows 7 Ultimate SOund Problems On Acer Aspire 4530

Acer has a new BIOS version for your Notebook on thier support site, the date on the update is 11-17-09. It doesn't say anywhere that I could find just what that update was supposed to fix, so I am not sure if it would help you or not. Flashing a BIOS can be a tricky thing though, you might want to read up a bit if you have never actually done it before. You might try giving Acer support a call and see if they can give you more info on just what that BIOS update fixed before you try anything.

A:My hp 250 g4 won't turn on with the battery

Does the battery charge when the notebook is not turned on?That is the critical bit. If the battery does not have enough charge, it certainly won't be able to supply enough power to boot the notebook.  How long have you had the notebook? If it has been a year or more, the battery might no longer be serviceable.

How much battery life can I save by disabling Wi-fi? I don't have just a switch on the side of the laptop that I can turn off/on. By disabling it, I would go into Network Connections and right click on my wireless connection and disable it there? Would that save any battery life?

Hi,

The battery is fine, it's new. How can I fix this?

A:Laptop will not turn on with battery

It could be that the Charger can no longer handle chrging the battery and running the laptop at the same time. But how have you confirmed that the battery is good? Just because it is only 2 months old? Or has it been tested in another compatible laptop to confirm this. Also did you buy this battery from Sony or some where else?

The hardware manual here do offer power checkout guide (page 21-22) to help isolate the ac charger but since it can charge the battery from purple to white, then internal parts should be checked further.

You should be saving your work to either a USB flash drive for security or to a  cloud-based storage service.  Save your work to the flash drive before you turn off the notebookI  Dropbox, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive are perfect for Cloud based storage. USB flash drives are quite inexpensive. Pressing the power button for four seconds is a hard reset. That will definitely not allow the operating system or yourself time to save your work. I suggest that you return the notebook to your college's library so their IT staff can repair the OS and hardware.

I took it to my colleges tech department and they cleaned it and said there didn't seem to be water damage to the motherboard so i'm not sure if he just missed it or if something else is the problem. SOS

This first time it occurred when I was browsing websites for a school project. The laptop suddenly turned off. I did hard reset by holding the power button and everything but it won't turn on. The backlight key and fan still working but the screen is black.I let the laptop there for some hours. Then it was able to turn on normally. I then charged the laptop to 90% and turned it off. This time the problem occurred again. It won't turn on correctly unless the battery is completely drained !!! I contacted Microsoft and they had me reset my laptop, but the problem still occurs! I've tested many times !!!I was frustrated so I took the battery off with some screwdrivers. So now I only use the AC adapter. However, the freaking thing still happen! I can't identify what is the problem !! I need help !

My Lenovo T430 won't turn on. I am on an engineering trip in Liberia right now and am trying to get it working. It worked last night. I plugged it in when we had electricity last night and this morning, it is not turning on.  I unplugged the battery and AC adapter and drained the excess charge. It still did not turn on. However, when I put the battery back in and then plug in the AC adapter, the battery led blinks green 3 times, blinks a 4th long time, blinks once more and shuts off. The first three blinks could correspond to the normal AC battery status indicator. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

I recently changed the battery settings on my Dell Inspiron laptop computer, which runs Windows 7, to "extended battery life." For a few days, a box that reads "Extended battery life is activated. Change setting" appeared on my laptop screen when I initially unlocked the computer to use, but for two days now, the on-screen battery life message stays put on screen, all the time, and when I try to click on the "change setting" option to change it, nothing happens. I've gone into my control panel and tried various battery life settings, but the screen display still won't go away. Any suggestions?

Thank you!
