I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

I have a group of files I created in Microsoft Works 3.0 ( word processing and spreadsheets.) I have the original files on Floppy Disc, Scan Disc, and on my Hard Drive. I have tried coverters, and the best results I have received are partial, or full text with symbols. Nothing with the original documents creation form and font style. I have been told that the only true way to see these files in their original form is to run the files through Works 3.0 with Windows 3.0 with MS DOS. ( before Windows had its own operating system. )
Is anyone out here running Microsoft Works 3.0, with Windows 3.0, on top of a MS DOS operating system. These files should open in their original form, and then are able to be save in DOC. format. All helps are Welcome!

Hi ljohn21752

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Did you try Exporting the messages in Outlook Express *to* Outlook?
In Outlook Express:
File > Export Messages

Or Importing the messages *from* Outlook Express into Outlook?
In Outlook (version?)
File > Import and Export > Import Internet Mail and Addresses > Next > Outlook Express > Next > Finish

What happened when you tried?

I've got my PST located on my external HDD. Imoved the location a while ago and I must have still been on OfficeXP 2002. All my machines are Office 2003 Pro and was wondering if it would benefit me to change the file folders to the new Outlook File Folders format.

Secondly, I've been trying to read up on converting possibilities. Would I just create a new PST (I guess in the same folder on my External HDD) and then move all my folders (Contacts/Inbox...) to the new Personal Folder in the list, then delete the old PST file.

I've read a lot about creating Profiles on the machine via Control Panel--> Mail. If I do that on each of my machines, would that cause any glitches (some error message that a folder is missing or something) whenever I plug in my external HDD and use outlook because the profiles may be slightly different for whatever reason on each machine. Right now, my Outlook runs really smooth in terms of email, contacts and calender.

The only bump I keep getting is if I am writing an email and I click the 'To' button to show my address list, I get a message that the list is missing. It must be trying to look for the contacts folder on another machine's setting, but in reality it should be looking at the same Contact List from the PST file on my External HDD.

Hi,

Is Microsoft Outlook Express put the patch on the Outlook Expree E-mail for blocking the VBS file? There's a regular Outlook e-mail that has a patch if the people download it for blocking the VBS file.or When will Microsoft put the patch on the outlook express soon?

A:Is Microsoft Outlook Express for blockingthe VBS file

Bob the best antivirus Attachment protector is yourself, don't open it if you are unsure of it's origins. Saying that, the I Love You Bug certainly had it's own appeal. I was bitten as it had a coworkers name on it who certainly wasn't in love with me, so I wanted to know why... Ten minutes later we all knew something was up.

There is a simple way to view attachments without opening them. Hit Ctrl+F3 and a message source box will open, scroll down and if you see code then it is advisable to delete the entire e-mail. Shift+Delete.

Now, there is another way to transmit a virus and it is through a Signature. The Kak worm is successfully doing that. I was protected the other night from viewing that Signature while in Outlook Express, a prompt came up asking if I wanted to run an activeX component not marked as safe. Being a bit more cautious with my own computer I said no and was rewarded with the reason. The poster was complaining about a signature being added that was calling for a kak.htm file. I also hit Ctrl+F3 and scrolling down the message source, I could read the entire code for the Kak virus. hi Im using Windows XP. Last Tues, my server had problems with email. I kept getting a Send/Receive error. Then a prompt box 'Enter Network Password', which already had all my details in it keeps popping up, when i click ok, it just pops up again. I contacted my server. They seem to have fixed the email problem...except for me! Spent 40 min talking to a girl from virgin last ight..no help at all! She said it was problem with Microsoft Outlook. 'Pressed a few buttons' and it eventually came up that file SKU112.CAB was missing! It then asked me to re-install ms outlook but it had been pre-installed when i got laptop! I can still access email via server but have used ms outlook for 15 yrs and really want it back! I have tried to find a 'free download' but they all charge!! so dont know what to do??? any ideas? Thank you!!

A:Missing file SKU112.CAB Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft does not allow you as an end-user to download office 2003 products from the internet. Therefore there is no legal way to download microsoft outlook 2003 from the internet.

However HP mentions below the error you are receiving with a possible fix.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...278&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=&product=427588&rule=9284

Second Option is to backup and re-image your computer with the recovery dvd/cd provided with your laptop, hopefully that includes the office product.

Otherwise you will have to order an replacement cd from either microsoft or your oem. If your computer is under warrenty I would contact your OEM first.

Order Replacement CD from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302822

Hi all,

I am hoping someone can give me advice on the following error message which spontaneously started appearing in Outlook (2007):

"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Errors have been detected in the file xyz.pst. Quit Outlook and all mail-related applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe" to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For more information about the Inbox repair tool see Help".

Is the "Scanpst.exe" file already installed on my system with Outlook? If not please post a url where it can be downloaded for Win7 64 bit Ultimate. I have read a few forums pointing to errors with xml files used for the Navigation Pane. Could that perhaps be the issue here or is the Scanpst.exe route the only way to fix it?

Any advice will be much appreciated

Hello all,

My Outlook .pst file is corrupted after a power failure. Currently, the file is 0kb and scanpst.exe doesn't seem to be working. I do have a backup but it only covers last week and before, and I've received important emails just this week.

Is there any way to recover my emails? One thing I've noticed is that I can "find" all those emails when I search by using Windows 7 Search, they all show up on search but I can't open/copy/preview them.

Thanks in advance.

Do a search for any other PST files on your computer. Open Outlook and go to File > Data File Management and double click the Outlook.pst entry. Where it says filename copy the path with the exception of the Outlook.pst portion and paste it into the search or file open box. Are there any other PST files in there?

So, Secunia has just told me that the versions of Microsoft Outlook 2002, Word 2002, and Excel 2002 I have on my computer (Windows XP Home SP3) are unsecure and need to be updated. Secunia provides direct download links to Microsoft for these updates, but there are some hassles (I know! Hassles? With Microsoft?!).First, it opens IE -- it apparently won't work with Firefox. Second, all the update links lead to a page that signs me up for a Microsoft Update service that gives Microsoft even greater access to my PC.Unless it's absolutely necessary, I just have no desire to provide more access to my computer to a bunch of strangers.Does anyone know if there's a way to update these programs without signing up for a service? Even today, not all computers are hooked up to the internet -- I figure there must be a way to just get the updated files. Thanks!Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

I have over 13 years of Outlook Express folders and addresses that I desperately need to convert to Outlook 2007. I should have imported them into Outlook before I made the "Easy File Transfer" to the new Win 7 machine, but didn't know I needed to do that. Several years ago I had imported the files into Outlook, although that data did transfer it is now way out-of-date and full of duplicates.

The up-to-date data is still in my old machine and also in an external hard drive backup. I have isolated the Outlook Express personal folders into .dbx format and the addresses into .wab format.

Is there a way this can be reformatted into Outlook? Or is there some other way? I would probably also need to delete what is already in Outlook first, or I would have many more duplicates.

I welcome any suggestions.

I haven't found a way to do this in Edge, but I did find a work around. I don't know why they've made things so hard! What I did is open Internet Explorer (you may have to search for it, but it's still on Windows 10), navigate to the address you want to favorite, add the site to your favorites in IE, go into the IE favorites and right-click on the one you want to change the URL for, choose properties, then edit the URL and save or apply. Next you'll just import the favorites again in Edge and it should pop up. Hope this helps!

Hi all,

I use Linux and CUPS to provide free and stable networking printing shares for our community centre. Its easy to connection windows xp clients to the linux printer server, windows 7 is a pain, I have a work around, but would like to make it more streamlined.

I can get some older printers that do not have official windows 7 drivers working by using windows update during the driver selection phase of the printer set-up procedure. And selecting a slightly different printer from the list of available windows update drivers.

While this method works, there is a delay of between 5-10 minutes after clicking the windows update button before the list of drivers appears.

I would like to know if its possible to do any of the following 2 ideas:

1. manually access these driver files on Microsoft website somewhere, and download them for latter use.

2. Find where windows 7 saves the downloaded driver files and package them some how so they can be re-distributed.

As always your comments/suggestions are very welcome.

Microsoft: Manually Installing Windows 10 Creators Update Could Break Down PCs

Microsoft pushed the go-ahead button for Windows 10 Creators Update on April 5, allowing experienced users to manually download the new OS version on their PCs.

One week later, on April 11, Microsoft also started the official rollout of the Creators Update as an automatic upgrade via Windows Update, but in this case, the release takes place gradually, and some users need to wait more than others to receive it.

As a result, more and more users are tempted to upgrade to Windows 10 Creators Update manually, but Microsoft says that you shouldn?t do this unless you are an experienced user.
Critical issues
The reason is that the Creators Update might be hit by compatibility issues, either hardware or software, and when you manually install it, the upgrade process bypasses any checks that could prevent critical problems. On Windows Update, on the other hand, Microsoft is only making the Creators Update available for your system when it is 100 percent sure that all problems are gone.

?It?s important to note that when customers use the Software Download Site to manually install the Creators Update they bypass many of these blocks,? Microsoft explains.

?Therefore, we continue to recommend (unless you?re an advanced user who is prepared to work through some issues) that you wait until the Windows 10 Creators Update is automatically offered to you. When your device becomes eligible for the C... Read more

Microsoft/Windows Update works when you let it "automatically" install updates - i.e. Click on "Turn Off".

It fails when I try to do it manually.

NOTE: It is only the install that fails - "A problem on your computer is preventing updates from being downloaded or installed". I have no problem selecting and downloading updates.

I have tried a number of ideas posted here and elsewhere. But, so far, nothing has resolved the issue. This is not a result of a repair, serivice pack update, etc. I tried Dial-a-fix also, but it did not work either.

I was able to successully copy all the .DBX files to the Vista Desktop and import them into Mail, but still cannot find a way to get the Message Rules and Accounts into Mail, either by importing them from Vista or exporting them from XP.

When I try to export the information, XP gives me some odd error message that I can't remember right now, but it involves one of the Services not working. I tried to fix it but could not.

And when I try to import the information, Mail cannot see the account. I get "No other e-mail accounts could be found" but the message appears so quickly I can tell it's not really looking. I cannot browse Mail to find them either.

I did some research and learned that these settings are saved in specific places of the Registry, and one option is to boot back to XP (shudder) and try to export these registry settings. But then I wonder what would happen if/when I imported them to Vista.

Should I try this ? Or is there a better way ?

Another idea was I was wondering if it is possible to get RegEdit to open a Registry on another partition; another non-booted O/S's Registry.

Anyways, that's as much as my ... Read more

A:How to Manually Import Outlook Express into Vista ?

If you can, boot into XP, run OE, and from the "Accounts" section export the account settings (should create an IAF file). This should be recognized by Windows Mail.

As to the rules ... You may just want to redo them.

Is it possible to run File History manually at a time to suit. Ideally I would like to run it once a week, but find there is no option for that under the advanced settings.

I don't really want to keep the external drive I'm using for this connected to my PC all the time so am hoping I can turn off File History before closing down and then connect the external drive, turn File History on again when required and hope it will carry on doing an incremental backup of my files. (I do manually backup my files anyway, am looking at File History as an extra safety net)

Its rather frustrating that there is no progress bar so that you know how much of the task has been completed.

I'm not a computer tech so a simple explanation would be appreciated

I downloaded a file to my desktop..& right when I did, Windows Explorer started to restart over & over again, with no stop. It won't let me delete the file on the desktop that's causing it..I scan it with AVG & Ad-Aware & they say it's clean, but I know it's what's causing it because this has happened before (Damn Vista), only last time it let me delete the file & that fixed it. I've tried System Restore..that didn't delete it.

So is there any way to manually quarantine a file?? I see no option for it in AVG or Ad-Aware.

A:How to manually quarantine a file with AVG?

What does Vista have to do with your downloading behavior?

Did you execute the file? If not, it cannot be responsible for your problem. What is the file's type?

Try one of these to delete it on next boot. AVG will only quarantine a file that it sees as a threat.

Okay, here we go.

We're running Exchange on our domain here in the office.

One of the clients utilizes Office Outlook 2002 (XP) and only receives email whenever she attempts to write a new message, or clicks the 'Send/Receive' button.

I can find no where in the options on any of our other PCs utilizing Office 2002 (XP) where something would have changed on the clients PC.

Can anyone point me in the right direction??

Thank you-

A:Outlook XP SP3 only receives mail manually from Exchange 2000

Try looking under "mail setup" in "tools", "options" look for "send receive"

I only have 2003 now so the exact locations may be different.

I installed a program from Microsoft called 'Windows Live Search for Outlook'. Since I installed it, Outlook runs very slowly (Microsoft Office 2003 Outlook on Windows XP). I tried to unstall the program through the controll panel but I still get a message that the program needs to be installed each time I open Outlook.

Does anyone know how to manually uninstall this program and to get rid of the popup message that it need to be installed each time I open Outlook?

Thanks.

Hello - I want to take wav files off an SD card and convert them for use on any CD player. I have been told to convert wav files to pcm files which come under the umbrella of "redbook files" - all confusing and still can't do it. I have Nero 7 and do not know how to go about this. I transfer the files from an SD memory card to the Vista PC and know that I cannot just drag them and hope they'll convert. Any ideas? Thanks!

A:convert SD card wav file to file playable by any CD player

If you have Nero, all you should have to do is burn an Audio CD and add the WAV file to the compilation. No converting by you needed.

Open Nero StartSmart, select "Make Audio CD" from the Audio tasks, click Add and browse to where you have the WAV file and Add it to the compilation, close the Add window and you shoudl that the audio file has been added. Click Next, give the CD a title and click Burn.

My son plays basketball for an out-of-town college and I can download the radio broadcast games from the audio streaming over the internet into asf files using software called WM Recorder and WM VCR. The broadcasts can be as long as 3 hours and the asf file for a single game can be over 120mg. I want to burn this file onto a regular CD that I can listen to on a normal CD player such as a CD player in a car. I used software called Riverpast Audio Converter to convert the asf file to a wav file but neither the asf or wav files work in my CD player. I can playback either file (asf or wav) through Windows Media Player on my computer and they work fine. How can I listen to these downloaded broadcasts on a normal CD player? (I understand that I may have to split the file as I was told that a normal CD can only play back up to 80 minutes of audio).

Your half way there with the wav file. Now burn it to a CD in CDA (CD audio), Nero or a freeware burner program will do that for you.

I have a sound file in Palm PDB format created in the Palm Voice Memo program. I moved it from the Palm device to the Windows desktop PC. Problem is I cannot find any way to convert this to any format readable by the Windows system.

I moved the file from the Palm's internal memory to its SD card because the Palm Voice Memo application would not allow it to be copied to the SD card so now it is no longer in the Palm's internal memory, neither can it be put back into the Palm's internal memory in any way that the Voice Memo program can recognize it.

If I could get it back into the Palm's Voice Memo program, I could at least play it; but, it is more desirable to just convert it from PDB to WAV or MP3 or any other Windows format.

I've been working on this problem off and on for several weeks and have no solution. I would even be willing to pay someone to do it for me if anyone can.

A:Convert a Palm PDB file to a Windows-readable file

After weeks of off-and-on trying, I finally used a combination of words in Google that got me to a solution and I'm posting it here in the event someone else might need to do the same thing:

How to Convert PDB to MP3

Programs needed:
Clie Picture Converter
Mobile Media Converter
Both are freeware programs downloadable from the internet.

Go to your Palm data folder on your PC. Something like
C:\Program Files\Palm\[user-name]\Backup

You'll find files like [xxxxxxxxxxxx]_Vpad.pdb

These are the VoicePad files.

Copy the files you need to a temporary folder

Open Clie Picture Converter, and drag the files from the temporary folder to the Clie Picture Converter window.

New files with .JPG extension will appear in the temporary folder.

Rename these *.JPG files to *.AMR files.

use Mobile Media Converter to convert the .AMR files to .MP3 files.

This is what worked for me.
