A dreaded error 11 encountered in Time Machine.

Q: A dreaded error 11 encountered in Time Machine.

I need to use Time machine. But it gives me a dreaded error saying "Backup failed with error 11". And i cannot run it any longer. What should i do to fix it?

Preferred Solution: A dreaded error 11 encountered in Time Machine.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Started a couple weeks ago where when XP would be starting up and 'ntdevice.exe has encountered an error and needs to close' would pop up. Once I'd close that window basically every other process and executable that Windows was trying to run would encounter an error and need to close. This basically makes XP unusable. I've ran a full Avira scan, which identified and quarantined a number of items, ran a full scan with SUPERAntiSpyware both in normal Windows and in Safe Mode, which again, both times identified and quarantined/removed items, edited the winlogon userinit registry key because it had been modified by what I assume was malware, ran the kaspersky TDSSkiller, which again identified things and cured but the issue still persists.I'm including my HijackThis log hoping that someone can identify the problem. Thank you in advance for any help that might be provided.Cheers,SeanLogfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4Scan saved at 4:46:58 PM, on 9/28/2010Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.6001.18702)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Devic... Dear All,

I hope you can help. Recently bought a new LaCie Wireless Space.
I am connected to it as a wi-fi router to get onto the internet.
However, my Time Machine software will not recognise it as a time capsule.
If I search for it in Airport Utility I a message that says "Airport Utility was unable to find any Airport wireless device" etc etc. Yet I am currently connected to it on wi-fi.

Also, if I open Time Machine and "select backup disk" the following appears:
MyShare on "WirelessSpace (Time Machine)"
OpenShare on "WirelessSpace (Time Machine)"

But on selecting either of them the following message appears:
Time Machine can't access the backup disk "MyShare". (or "OpenShare")
The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 5.)

Finally, if I go into my Disk Utilities , there is no LaCie Wireless Space icon in the left column
However, there is a Wireless Sace (Time Machine) icon under the "Shared" column when I click on the computers hard drive icon on the desktop, BUT is states "Connection Failed"

I really have no idea where else to look and what else to do - other than contact LaCie - but they have not got back to me now for 3 days.

Any ideas????

Hi Guys,

Every single time I use a Windows application I get the "windows has encountered a problem" popup. A couple of times a day it's followed by Dr Watson and when this happens everything just freezes.

I tried a repair install but it didn't solve the issue. I have had issues with Windefender recently but thought I'd fixed that, so I don't know if this is related.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Well first of all i want to start out by saying I'm about ready to cry right now.
Well I'm Pretty Sure Ya-ll At Tech Support KN ow About The Error 132 Message In WoW. But No Matter What Forum i look at, they all give indirect Solutions. Basically I Need A Way(doesn't Matter How Many Ideas), that i can fix this wow 132 message.

I Think My Comp Might Be Over Clocked But I Don't Know How Do Set It To Defaults, and there was a point in time where i couldn't even open wow without the error 132 message, i did a system restore, downloaded everything(patches. . .etc) and i was able to open wow (obviously), but instead of the error 132 message i get a blue screen of death, but eventually (probably to keep my comp safe), wow just brings it back to the error 132 message, so i cant even open wow. Any Help Would Be Great!!!!

About 75% of the time I open (double left click) My Documents or any sub folders therein I get this:

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512 ModName: explorer.exe
ModVer: 6.0.2900.5512 Offset: 00011900

after which it closes, all the icons disappear from the desktop momentarily, and the taskbar reloads. This usually happens the first three or four times I try to enter My Documents, so that I can get around it by retrying until it stops. However, it's not that rare for the first error message to be followed by this:

You chose to end the nonresponsive program Windows Explorer
szAppName: explorer.exe szAppVer: 6.0.2900.5512 szModName: hungapp szModVer: offset: 00000000

followed by a Dr Watson Post Mortem Debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I've actually had this problem for quite a long time now and just recently I started getting this:

Windows DEP (data execution prevention) has closed the program Windows Explorer.exe

I have no idea what's going on here. I have run various scans (Avira, Malware Bytes, Windows Defender, Ad Aware) but they found nothing. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what it might be?

I would be very grateful for any help or insight.

This started today as soon as I logged in to my computer, after running System restore to recover from 6x blue screens in one hour. The blue screening is fixed however. I was presented with multiple 'errors' all saying the same thing over Winspool.

C:\Windows\system32\WINSPOOL.DRV is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

Now the fun begins, as error messages pop up for all of my normal programs that begin on startup: Steam, Skype, everything. I spam click OK on the error messages and then most of the programs start up. Whenever I exit that main error message, though, it comes back about five seconds later.

I've been to various sites many say the same thing. Rename it, Restart it or Clean boot. All Failures.
So far I've gone in and disabled it. If I can get some help that'd be great.

I am facing the same "ntldr is missing" error

Have tried using various steps in booting...

among them... when i use the xp cd to go to the recovery console and after clicking R, instead of seeing the screen with the operating system I am directly sent to the C:\ prompt

Have also tried using a bootable usb disk (i dont have a floppy drive) to copy the boot.ini , ntldr, ntdetect.com file on to the C:\ prompt
This doesnt seem to help

I followed all the steps mentioned here http://tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm

I tried connecting an additional ATA hard disk using a serial converter to my mobo (i have a sata hdd) yet it doesnt seem to be booting the operating system on the additional disk although this time on the recovery console it does show. tried copying the files from here but it still doesnt work.

I am now going berserk here... I really do not want to reinstall windows xp again as I have a lot of data on C drive which i do not want to lose.

I also tried the reinstall/rebuild option that would usually be available on the XP cd by clicking on install, as it is supposed to search for any existing operating system on the hard drive but here also i reach a dead end as i do not get that screen and instead straightaway reaches the option of asking me which partition to install the op sys

Pls help.... I do not want to go and call a professional service guy who is either going to charge a chunk of money or else even worse would not... Read more

I have been trying to find a solution for this and the only ray of hope has been from someone at Tech Guys who analyzed a hjt log for a poster and found a program conflict that when resolved fixed the problem. I am hoping for the same kind of success. I have read every suggestion I could find especially those posted here and none have worked. I don't know if I can handle 1 more suggestion to remove lthe .net framework from my w7 os. The only place I can find any reference to .net in my computer is under control panel>admin tools>services. I have both office7 to load and my tax software and cant seem to get it done. Microsoft seems to care less about how it affects the users and suggests that the user may be loading a pirated copy and uses that as the problem/solution.

Hello again, Colleagues All,
After joining this forum today, there were so many nice welcoming messages and so much interesting stuff going on off-line that i almost forgot why i joined this forum in the first place ! (I found it by Googling on that pesky error number).
My Google Earth went funny - it would initialize but no earth would appear. Obviously, the aliens had spirited it away. I visited the Google site and found there was a new version. I therefore removed the two existing versions I had (Google 3 and Google 4, the latter having a control unit which I did not like as much as the earlier version). I also scanned my file-system and removed any files which had any reference to Google Earth. I then downloaded the Google_Updater twice. The first time, the (ADSL) transfer rate was about 500bytes/second - worse than my old dialup connection. I ran it straight from the download monitor. The second time, the transfer rate was better (about 6Kbytes/second) and I saved the file to disk and ran it independently of the download. In both cases, the program stopped with the opaque message that simply said it could not continue, because of error 0x80070005.
After reading some of the posts here and checking my registry, I believe that my problem may be a seriously dirty Registry, but what to do ? Hi Jim

This sounds like a job that CCleaner might be able to do well for you. It's a free-for-personal-use program that has won several awards and countless positive reviews [it's the main Registry cleaner I use, too]. It's available from your favorite download site, or here's the link at download.com --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...-10315544.html --- Use the "Cleaning" function to clean out unnecessary (and potentially harmful) temp files that might have accumulated over time. Use the "Issues" function to help clear up tangles in the Registry. Run the "Issues" function several times, until it reports "no issues found".

Try this order:
1) Download & install CCleaner.
2) Uninstall all current instances of Google Earth in Add/Remove Programs. (Remove any other unwanted programs while in there, too).
3) Reboot.
4) Run CCleaner. Use both the Cleaning and Issues functions.
5) Reboot.
6) Download a fresh copy of Google Earth. Don't use any "download managers" (temporarily disable any that you may have), and download the program directly from Google --- http://earth.google.com/tour/thanks-win4.html --- [you will likely have to click the message bar if you use IE6 or IE7, to allow the download] --- and save the file to a easy-to-find location, like your Desktop. Do not run the installer yet!
7) Reboot into Safe Mode [start tapping the F8 key on your keyboard as your computer is restarting, an... Read more

Hi, I am sure this is in the forums somwhere, I guess I could not find anything on it.

I am running Win2000 professional. I had this problem once before, and for the life of me cant remember how I fixed it. Now its back. Here goes.

When I start my computer from complete "dead' state, everything loads and I get the following generic Microsoft error box stating that IExplorer has encountered a problem and will shut down...do I want to send an error report... blah, blah, blah.

After saying no, and attempting to access an icon or "my computer" i get the following error: "explorer.exe" has generated errors and will be closed. You will need to restart the program."

I have also come across this error message: "msbb.exe has generated errors....blah blah..as above"

I have tried reinstalling IE6 over top of itself with no avial. I have tried Norton WinDoctor with NO problems found...

after a few attempts of messing with stuff I looked it up on many different forums, and found MANY different ways to try and solve this. after attempting all of them, I still get the error. the one time I do get past the error to attempt a startup repair, it saidsomething along the lines of "windows cannot repair your problem", so I did the command prompt bootlegbootrep thing, it said it was a success, but the next bootup I got the BOOTMGR Error again. I tried copying the cd to a memory stick and trying it that way, same deal. I've tried unplugging/replugging sata cords and doing all I can to fix this.

its a long read but I neeed some help! who out there can put in their 2 cents? I appreciate any comments, tyvm!

Anyhow, can anyone tell me what's best to do after the dreaded blue screen error ?

Go to C drive > go to Windows Folder > find Minidump Folder and click on said folder. There will be Minidump files within. I usually make a temporary folder on my desktop screen and transfer my Minidumps files for easy access.

When you post back to this thread attach Minidumps like you would any file or document; the best way is to put them in a Zip format if you can, especially if you have a number of them.

Hi folks,
Think this c000021a fatal system error was caused by a recent program un-install on a Dell machine running XP-sp 3. The good news is that I can operate in Safe Mode with internet connection, have a recent full hard disc image clone on an external HD, and that a subsequent error code-c0000135- has pointed the finger at "vct 3216.dll not found".

The bad news is that Restore to last known best configuration does'nt do the trick, neither do a number of System Restore points. Chkdsk has been run a couple of times - to no avail. Full virus scanning by an uptodate Microsoft Security Essentials does'nt come up with any problems.

Out of my depth here but how about returning to an earlier registry ? Can the cloned hard drive image be restored to the original C: drive and overwrite the existing O/S ? Any advice would be most gratefully received.

Thanks, Nick

Hi everyone,

I have a dual boot machine, running FC6, and XP MCE. I've been using Fedora for the last week and a half or so, and have just recently tried to boot into windows. Unfortunately, it comes up with the blue screen of death after the XP logo. When I boot in safe mode, the last line is mup.sys. I seem to remember getting Windows Updates just before my last reboot. Also, no hardware changes have been made. The system is identical to when it last shut down (before I took everything out of it to eliminate compatablility issues). All of the hardware functions normally under linux. I've tried booting up with an XP Pro disk (my computer came with XP MCE, and I didn't get a disk. I have the HP backup disks to restore the computer to its orginal state, but I consider this a last resort), and typing fixboot, dir, and disable mup. All attempts result in:

Directory of C:\

An error occurred during directory enumeration.Click to expand...

I know the hard drive still works, as I can access all of my data when I boot into linux. This is why I did not suspect anything was wrong until I tried to boot Windows. I have removed all hardware except for the Windows HD, the DVD ROM drive, and have unplugged everything except for the monitor, power, keyboard, and mouse.

Note: When I remove the FC6 HD (separate IDE drive), the machine should go back to normal, as it contains the linux boot loader.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.

I have been having problems installing 8 updates since early May 2012. I am getting the error code in the title line.

The updates are:

I have run FixIt, but to no avail. I have also turned off services and rebooted and ran Windows Update and still got this error.

Do I need to just skip these updates, or somehow troubleshoot this and fix it. If I need to fix it, I need help.

Regards, and thanks.

From day 1 my computer crashes to blue screens with various messages, such as Memory Management, System Service Exception, Kernel Data Inpage Error, IRQL not less or equal, and a few others that I can't remember anymore, but recently more frequent is the one saying "the system encountered an uncorrectable hardware error".
I have only a few programs installed on this computer, and I mainly use it with Photoshop, therefore most of the crashes occur while I use Photoshop. But some also occur when I do absolutely nothing, or I leave the computer with the desktop showing, and I go to the kitchen (for example), or, when I transfer files from an external HD to a flash drive, etc, so I can't connect a particular program to a particular error message.

I restored the computer a few times to factory defaults.

A:Error: 0x00000124 - System encountered an uncorrectable hardware error

Welcome to SF mariad .

You have quite a variety of BugCheck Codes, but the main concern at the moment
are the 0x124 bugchecks.
Those are usually a hardware issue, in your case it points to the PCI/PCI-e ports do you have
Are there other expansion cards installed apart from the GPU?
Is your GTX 560 Ti overclocked?
Are you monitoring the temperatures?
Have you tired a different pair of PCI power connectors to run to the card?
Have you tired the second PCI-e slot?
Have you tried reseating the GPU making sure it is firmly in place?

What is the make, model and age of your PSU?
Fill out this form and post back the result:
Power Supply Calculator

Test for thermals and stability:
Download HWinfo and post a Screenshot of the sensors window, one at idle and another while putting load on the PC using Prime95 for the CPU side and Furmark for the GPU.Before running Prime95 make sure to enable Round-off checking (see 1st post under the tutorial).

It is not mandatory to run both tests simultaneously, although possible as long as the temperatures are under constant monitoring.

Hello everyone,
Man-O-Man it is good to be back. Quite a few things have changed for me since the last time I was here, not the least that I have gotten married and now ha a beautiful baby girl who is a blessing (not to mention that "Over the hills and Far Away" by Led Zep is her favorite song for me to play on the guitar, so she is freakin' cool to boot!((Not like Kyle and "Kick the Baby" but you know what I mean.))).
O.K. now to my problems... my wife bought a Toshiba Satellite P-205D-S7439 with the Windows Vista OS( My 1rst thought was great another platform to learn) but I have been able to get around pretty easily. The thing is that she later purchased an external HD (Maxtor One-Touch with 380 gig ) I am a lucky happy man. But within about a week and a half 362 gig were somehow used by ??? ( I am sure I probably pushed the button that I was not supposed to push unless I was wanting to immediatly use 19/20ths of my available storage.)
Now my laptop has 180 gig and I am down to about 15 to 20 gig on it and I would really, really appreciate some direction in handling the required actions it will take to rectify whatever mistake it was that I made in the 1rst place. The folks here are the only ones that I trust with advice concerning these matters, and hopefully someone will be kind enough to guide my blind behind through this mealstrom of technicality that lies ahead.

Dear all,

I have a couple of annoying time delay problems with my XP machine as follows:

1. Even though I have 2MB connection my machine takes a while to load up web pages. It seems to wait for about 5-10 secs before doing anything and then loads up really quickly. Once I am within a website it navigates to other pages very quickly but if I want to go to a different web site I get the same delay.

2. When navigating using My Computer I get a huge time delay when trying to do an action such as Copy or rename i.e if I right click on a file it takes about a minute for the dialog box to come up. If however I disconnect my internet connection there is no delay at all?

I am running the same connection on my laptop which is Windows ME without any problem?

Any ideas?!!!
