I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, my thinkpad x1 carbon with windows 10 64bit has started to crash after I put it into sleep mode (fn + 4). This used to work fine before, but now about 50% of the time (100% after a night), it crashes (or shuts of totally). The only way I can start the thinkpad then is by pressing the on/off button for about 10 seconds. Then it starts up, but all my work documents / webpages etc. crashed. If, for example, I open up my word document on which I was working on, it asks me if I want to save the normal.dot and gives me a list of optionional documents to "save". I thus have to tell it which versions to save and can then resume working on it. But then, when I put it into sleep mode again, it crashes again - especially if it is over night. I have checked the battery and done the standard lenovo diagnositcs, but this is not the problem. Thank you very much for your help! best, Manuel

Hey all,
I have an IBM iSeries Thinkpad notebook 1161-43U, that won't come out of "standby" mode. I have an orange battery indication, a green half-moon indicator, and the green power indicator. The notebook won't power up at all. If I disconnect the power AC adapter and then plug it in, I can hear a faint grinding sound and then nothing. I suspect that the main CPU cooling fan is malfunctioning causing a "CPU overheating" condition...

Does anyone have experience with this?

Hi Hello Just got my new X1 yoga, but even after reading the manual, couldn't figure out how to resume it from sleep? Getting it to sleep easy, lid down, windows menu or F4. When I came back to it, the screen is off, the fingerprit scanner has a light, but I cannot manage to get it back on unless i press 1 or 2 times on the power button, and then it resumes. Any other ways to do it?? I'm used just to press any key/mouse, to get it to resume, my old surface was like that. Sorry for the basic question, but the power button sometime takes as long time, as I think it's restarting the computer. Thank you

A:ThinkPad X1 Yoga how to resume from sleep mode??

Pressing the Fn key might do it if it has only been in sleep mode for a while, but after a period of time set under the power plan setting, it will go into hibernation mode  to save the battery power (it basically writes the system state to a file called hiberfil.sys, and powers off), and in that case you have to press the power button to resume. This might help too even though it does not explicitly mention your model.https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht075624 Take Care,

Hi, my T530 has recently starting giving me trouble rebooting in regular mode. Whereas I can reboot in safe mode, I do not even reach the initial login screen when I attempt to start-up regularly. All I get is a black screen with a visible cursor. Any ideas where this is coming from and what problems I have?

A:Thinkpad T530 not starting in regular mode

Most likely a bad driver since in Safe Mode windows uses generic drivers.   My guess would be the video driver, so while in Safe Mode, use device manager to uninstall the existing video driver and start clean. Right click on Start and select Device Manager or Start >> Run and type: devmgmt.msc  and press EnterClick on Display Adapters to openRight Click on the Intel HD Graphics and select Uninstall,  making sure to check the box to "Delete the driver software for this device".RebootIf it was the video driver, then Windows should boot normally using a generic driver, and then download and install a new driver via Windows Update. Since it just started, running a disk check (chkdsk) would be a good idea too.Right Click on Start and select Command Prompt (Admin) and press EnterIn the Command Prompt (Admin) window, type:   chkdsk C: /f   and press EnterPress Y to accept scheduling scan for next bootReboot and it will run at startupGood Luck,

Hi everyone, I do have a strange issue with a Thinkpad S1 Yoga: after a fresh (clean) install of Win10, I have installed the relevant drivers - including the Lenovo power mgmt driver. So far, everything is ok. However, the device does not enter sleep mode when I am closing the lid. It seems that it rather changes to tablet mode.  After x minutes of inactivity, the devices enters sleep mode - also if I manually select sleep mode via Startmenu. So I think this is related to the detection of the lid function. Any chance to correct this? thanks. best, axeon

HI,
I am unsuccessfully trying to activate dual display mode in Win XP. The goal is to have separate outpot (different from LCD) to the video port for an external TV monitor. I have managed to get the video port active but only in a clone mode to the LCD. There is a check box in the video driver settings for "dual display" but it is greyed out. The driver is NeoGraph 256AV.

My research indicates that it may be an XP compatibility problem. Any comments? I am considering rolling back to Win98 to see if that helps.
Thanks in advance,

My wife's IBM Thinkpad X41 won't finish booting - it populates the desktop with icons, but doesn't finish applying the icon pictures to them - about half of them remain as generic icons - and it doesn't get any further than this. The Start->All Programs list opens blank, the cursor goes to an hour glass, and the machine is unusable, it just won't do anything.

It will boot OK in Safe Mode, so I tried disabling all the startup items in case one of them was hanging, but no better. Then I tried a system restore, but again no better. I am not sure what to try next, so I would appreciate any suggestions.

I've had my X380 for only a few weeks now and I noticed it's already getting scratched from being in stand mode. I had an S1 Thinkpad Yoga for years and it never developed scratches from being in stand mode. I noticed that the rubber feet on the palmrest are not the high point but the area below the trackpad is and that's why it's getting scratched.I was thinking if I could get some more of the little rubber feet on the bottom of the palmrest I could maybe double them up to make them taller, but I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know if these can be bought on their own? Or maybe another suggestion to prevent the scratching? I've temporarily stuck some black rubber strips on the feet to make them taller, but it doesn't look that great. Thanks

Over the last few months my Thinkpad S1 Yoga has developed a habit of randomly entering tablet mode when the lid is about 90-120 degrees open, as if the lid was swung past 180 degrees. Consequently the keyboard and trackpad are disabled when this happens. Closing the lid to force the computer to sleep and then opening the lid again removes the symptom. Moving the lid past 180 degrees sometimes makes the computer go into laptop mode again, or sometimes makes the display rotate 90 degrees while staying in tablet mode. I tried to remove the sensor in Device Manager and let plugnplay rediscover it but the problem remains. So I'm guessing this is a hardware problem? I bought an used x240 8 months ago, a few months back it started not waking up from sleep but since I had work to do on it for university I left it that way and waited. Now that I'm done I'm trying to resolve the issue and it seems quite common. I tried everything I found online without success. Then I read that there were some bios updates and in the changelog the of the last one it says they fixed issues with sleep mode. Now I tried to install it from windows 10 and from usb since I usually only work with linux. The result is always the same:I boot inside the update utility, follow the instructions and when it reboots the lenovo splashscreen appears but it does not say anything about updating the bios (I saw it should on youtube). Needless to say, when I go inside the bios setup it indicates the version is still 2.37.I already tried changing bios settings in every possible way. If I can obtain a USB CD drive I'll try using that instead but in the meantime can anyone help me?

The first and only bug so far I have encountered with my P51: Out of the box, the machine is set with the Hybrid mode in BIOS, meaning it switches between the Intel GPU and the Nvidia Quadro M2200 (Optimus). I want my machine to always use the discrete GPU, so I switch to Discrete mode in the BIOS. This however means that you can no longer change the screen brightness of the internal screen, it is always set at 100 %. Definitely seems like a driver bug. I have tried reinstalling Windows already, same result: With the Hybrid mode I can change the screen brightness, with the discrete mode I canīt.

Is there a setting that only lets it boot to hibernate somewhere?

Force power off by pressing and holding the power button. Second attempt: Power On; Hit Enter at Lenovo splash screen; Hit F1 at Startup Interupt Menu; to eter the BIOS Setup. Disable secure boot (Security > Secure Boot). Save (F10); repeat first attempt. Same result. Third attempt: as before except that I additionally set Startup > UEFI/Legacy Boot to Both and tried again. Same result. Fourth attmpt: as before except that I changed the boot priority to put legacy first. Same result. Fifth attempt: as before except that I set  Startup > UEFI/Legacy Boot  to Legacy Only. Hello,I'm interested in buying a T580 thinkpad and got some questions: 1. does the 4K display consumes more battery power than the FHD display? 2. for those customers with 4k display - are you satisfied with that choice? (are the fonts readable)2. in reality, how long does the battery last with standard use? (with all types of rear batteries)?3. how is your overall impression of this model? Thanks, Johnny
