How do i adjust the brighness?

Q: How do i adjust the brighness?

In Window 7 Home Premium?

Preferred Solution: How do i adjust the brighness?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How do i adjust the brighness?

Usually through your cards control panel.

Nvidia, ATI CCC, Intel etc

Without knowing a thing about your pc it makes it difficult to be exact.

Hi, I have just installed Windows 10 (Build 1803) and I have ran Leanovo Vantage on here to update all drivers and firmware, however for some reason I cannot increase (or decrease) the brightness of the laptop at all. I did some research into this and I saw this has been an issues before on some other models but I couldn't seem to find anything related to the P51. The screen is visable, however I would say it is currently fixed at around 40-50% brightness. Has anybody come across this before and is there anything I can try to do to fix this?  Regards, Jonathan.

Using the laptop on battery, when I press on F11-12, the brightness meter is shown on the upper left like usual, but it won't move up or down.  Yet I think it's strange that all other places I can adjust brightness are fine, and especially strange that everything is working totally fine on AC power.
I tried uninstalling the Generic PnP monitor and reinstalling, but to no results.  Also, both my power settings on battery and on power indicate no adaptive brightness.

Hi, Since the day i got the HP Envy 13, i've been experiencing this absolutely horrific auto brightness feature. I've tried the following things to turn off this utterly useless feature. 1* In the intel graphics driver menu I've sett all the option to "high performance"2* Disable the Windows sensor monitoring service.3* look in the Windows power management setting et set adaptive brightness to off. All to no avail. As soon as i enter a mostly black screen application and exit this application my screen is in a low brighness state and slowly fades back to full brightness. Please help me turn off this feature once and for all. It's almost if HP is trying to hide the huge backlight bleeding that this model has I hope this is not the case.

I dumb-dumbed and spilled liquid on my One. Keyboard and touchpad wouldn't work but was able to do a work-around by using USB keyboard and mouse. My problem is now I do not have the Fn key operations to control the screen brightness (backlight?) by using the usual Fn + rt/left arrow keys. Is there a work-around for this? The Advanced option under Display in the Control Panel does not achieve the same outcome as the Fn key controls did. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have an Athlon 2000+/1024DDR/WinXP and I recently rebooted it. But I noticed after I did this my computer had Athlon 1250 mhz written on screen where Athlon 2000+ used to be. I went to Taskmanger and it confirmed my computer was running at 1246 mhz and it should be running at like 1670mhz.

I know I need to go into my BIOS system and adjust my frontside bus to like 133, but I don't know how to carry out this process. The only BIOS option I see, is when I am starting my comp up and it asks me if I want to restore BIOS defaults. Clicking on that does nothing for me though.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this problem?

A:How do you adjust your fsb to 133?

What mobo/bios are you using? It should tell you in your manual where you change the fsb. It's either by jumper on the mobo or through the bios.

I don't know how it happened, but recently, the sound has gotten all screwed up. It seems to be set to an unbearably low volume at maximum. I can hear the asterisk system sound, but the others must be too quiet to hear. I can hear my MP3s and some other sound files, but they are so soft I can't hear them well at all. even when WinAmp is set to 100% volume. Turning the knob on my speakers has no effect at all.

I can hear sounds online (such as the Crazy Frog movie: http://dd0s.org/~wooolf/crazyfrog/ ), but the volume is rather quiet.

Using the Volume Control, I find that nothing is muted, and everything is at maximum. I can lower the volume to make it even quieter, but I can't make it louder (since it's at maximum).

I am currently using NVIDIA nForce drivers (the most recent ones)...in fact, I just installed these new ones, hoping it would fix my problem, to no avail.

What can I do?

A:Cannot adjust volume -- please help!

Have you given it a try by plunning headphones into the jack? Try to bypass all external amplification, it may be your speakers.

you may need to reinstall your sound card drivers
go to control panel, then Sounds and Audio devices

and under Sound Playback, see if there's anything listed there
if not, chances are you need to reinstall those drivers

Im trying to optomize my other computer. It's FSB speed is 133 and its ram speed is 200. I hear when they sync up its more stable. Is this true? If so, what should I do. I get extremely poor memory benchmarks and I think it might be a factor in lag.

A:Adjust ram speed?

Yes it is true. You can make your PC run faster than the ram is capable of running, because of this different mobo makers have designed workarounds in the bios in order to make the ram run at a slower speed than the fsb. This is a workaround, not a perfect solution, so it does affect the performance. You probably suffer around a 10% drop in memory performance by clocking the ram at a slower speed making use of the workaround in the bios, and then a drop in performance due to useing the slower memory. Therefore the best answer is to loosen up the memory settings and/or up the dimm voltage and/or buy ram that is advertised as running at the same bus speed or higher that your running. Keep in mind that any or all of the solutions may or may not work.

If your running 3.9gigs of ram you may be creating the problem. There's no gain that I can see from running that much ram, and some boards may advertise that they can use that much ram but suffer a performance drop when useing that much. The old Pheonix bios versions used in older 486 and pentium boards comes to mind, there was a glitch where to much ram would actually make the PC slower...

A:can not adjust brightness

Hi: If the brightness is stuck on maximum, you probably need to install the graphics driver. The problem is that HP only supports that model for W10. See if this W8.1 graphics driver works... This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72773.exe

I have (tried) to help 2 different people with brand new laptops using Win 7 Home Premium. One laptop is an Acer Aspire, the other is an HP. On the Acer, the display needs adjustment (possibly brightnes or contrast).

On BOTH laptops, if you connect to Control Panel/Display, you see a text link to "Adjust brightness." However, if you click on this link you are connected to Power Options--with no way to adjust the display.

Is this a bug, or have I missed something?

I searched this forum, but found nothing relevant.

On my old Inspiron 6000 (using Win XP SP3), if I connect to Display/Advanced/Color, there are controls for gamma, brightness, contrast.

A:Win 7 Display Adjust

Most laptops offer brightness and contrast adjustment via a combination of a Function Key (usually labeled in blue text) and an additional key with a secondary function which becomes active when the function key is pressed. Check the laptop's documentation or online help.

Hi, can anyone help me with Windows 7 when I apply ?Adjust for best Performance? in Advance settings, and then when after I use say... bubbles screen saver (or any other screen saver) there is a delay in frame rate, but if I use, Adjust for best Appearance, the graphics frame rate is back to normal fast and smooth!
This does not happen with any other graphics such as Media Player Visualizations or games just when I use the screen savers.

A:Adjust for best Performance!

Sounds like the setting is doing its job. The best performance setting turns off most, if not all visual effects. The best idea is to go down the list and choose for yourself which options you do and don't want.

Hey guys,

I posted this earlier in the Multimedia thread but was told to post it here.

I have been having trouble with my sound this past week. Is stays at 100%. I try to slide my volume, but it quickly goes back to 100%. I don't know what the problem is. I have ran dxdiag and it says there are no problems found. My speakers are Conexant High Definition SmartAudio. I have tried pretty much everything: googling it, but no answers there.

I do believe my roommate has something to do with it. He went to high school for technology, and after a dispute over my music being too loud he said he would start to control my volume. Some time during the week, I had found my computer had mysteriously restarted. So this has led me to believe that he has installed a program, which allows him to control my volume. I want to make sure he's doing this, so he can face the consequences. I just need your help. Is there something installed in my computer? What can I do to get rid of it?

There's also another strange thing that occurred. After posting this in the Multimedia thread, my volume somehow became adjustable again. Weird. I now have a feeling he can see what I do on my computer, and realized I posted this? I am so confused. I just would like answers.

Thanks so much beforehand. My operating system is Windows Vista and I have an HP Notebook PC, if that helps.

Ok I've had vista for a long time, but I switched over to XP and everything is perfect except from one small detail that is kinda big for me. I can't adjust the brightness in my laptopIn vista all I did was press fn left/right arrows to adjust it. And from what I know this is the way you do it in most laptopsNow in this XP I had to install all drivers. Specifically from this page http://www.laptop-software.com/acer-softwa...5738zg-drivers/when I install the graphics driver, VGA intel driver for vista is the one that's used for my computer from that list, the brightness just goes to the max apparently and I can't use fn arrows to adjust it. I CAN use fn arrows up and down to adjust the volume so there is definitely something fishy here. If I uninstall the driver I can use fn to adjust the brightness normally so I know the problem is when I install the driverthis brightness is driving me crazy! the driver bring something called Intel Graphic Media Accelerator which has an option for brightness, but it seems as if that's a different type of brightness cause it just makes the screen duller. You can actually still see a lot of brightness coming out from the computer but the screen is very dull. And it still damages my eyesany help?

Hi, Try the following. Download the graphics installer on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72370.exe When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69575.exe When the Chipset installation has completed, do not restart as prompted - instead, open your Downloads folder, right click on the graphics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Start the notebook and let Windows fully load for a few minutes before checking if the f2/f3 buttons function. Regards, DP-K

I had the notepad popup box open, fills 1/3 of my screen, a convenient size to work with.
I dragged it down to the bootom of the screen, expecting the box to disappear behind the edge of the screen like other boxes will.
I saw the bott. edge of the box stopped at the edge of the screen while the top part collapsed into it, leaving a long thin rectangle shape barely 1/3 of an inch hi.
I've done all I can find to get it to go back to its original size. I can't find any reference to it, not in Google, or Sony support, etc.

Of course I can click the large X at top right and expand it FULL PG SIZE. I don't want it that big. I want to be able to place data on it while its in that "popup box size' that is handy to work with while a larger pg opened on the screen behind it.

I am not at home to test on my 7 machine but I am thinking you will have to disable the new Aero Snap feature to get the windows to drag off of the screen without sizing. There is an option to turn off resizing of windows.

You are going to have to drag the sides of the application to get it back to the size you originally had. Once you close a program it normally remembers the size and position it was in.

A:Adjust ram timings?

What FSB and CPU multi are using?

390*9 or close to?

If so, going with a 1:1 ratio will put you at 780Mhz RAM speed.
But you should be able to get 5-5-5-15 Timings.

Looks as if your RAM is Rated at
800MHz DDR2
CL 5-5-5-18
So this may be the best route.

Quickest way to compare is run a quick memory assesment. CMD Prompt and type : winsat mem
Youll get a general idea of the bandwidth.

TBH, there will likely be no noticeable real world difference.
Only in a benchmark.

But I also understand the desire to tweak and get the most you can

A good motherboard has voltage adustment in the bios. Some programs, like clockgen, can for some boards. There are also "wire tricks", which are where you put a wire between 2 certain cpu pins and it makes the cpu run on more voltage, it only works on some cpus, and is somewhat risky.
