Satellite Click Mini L9W-B cursor keeps moving left to finish on top left corner

Q: Satellite Click Mini L9W-B cursor keeps moving left to finish on top left corner

the cursor on my click mini, every now and then keeps moving left to finish on top left corner, this causes typing errors. what is the cause? and how can I put it right.

Preferred Solution: Satellite Click Mini L9W-B cursor keeps moving left to finish on top left corner

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Try cleaning the whole touchpad, perhaps it may require recalibration. I previously had issues with the touchpad and removed the additional drivers that came with it

Hello, yesterday my Pro Windows 8 laptop had updated and now I am having trouble turning it back on. When I turn it on it gives me the option to press the ESC button which leads me to a Startup Menu that allows me to press F1, F2, F9, F10 and F11. After that, it goes to a black screen with a white blinking cursor in the top left corner.  I've tried taking the battery out and holding the power button and I've also put in a "Application and Driver Recovery DVD" not really sure what else to do.  Any answers? Thank you.

Hi all, When you move your pointer to a left corner you should get either the start page or your open tasks/apps.

But it's only working occasionally on my desktop.
Is this a known problem, just my computer or just me being stupid?

A:Moving pointer to left corner not working.

I've experienced a few situations where the thumbnail didnt' pop up... once I was in mail, and the upper-left corner didn't work, but the lower left did. It was like that consistently for a while, and then it suddenly started working again.

I haven't found any reproducable scenarios yet. It seems random, but at least for me, it's rare.

Good evening:

I'm hoping some can offer some advice on this rather troublesome problem.

I have a Dell laptop that was recently formatted, XP Home was re-installed from the original Dell ReInstallation CDs.

Everything has been working perfectly for the past month. However, this past weekend, we're now unable to boot into Windows.

When powering the machine on, the Dell logo appears as normal. When the Dell logo disappears, instead of the Windows splash screen appearing, a flashing cursor appears in the upper left hand corner. Nothing else. After letting the machine sit for approximately 30-minutes, an error message never appears.

I've already attempted a few things...

Removed the drive, attached it to a working computer via USB adapter. There, I performed a scan disk. No error messages appear.
Placed the hard drive back into the Dell laptop. Inserted the Windows XP ReInstallation CD to access the recovery console. FIXMBR completed successfully, however the problem continues.
Verified that the system BIOS recognizes the drive and correct drive size/parameters...

I really don't know what to do. Apparently the repair install function is not available with the Dell OS ReInstallation CD... Can someone throw a hint or two? I'm almost out of gas on this one and need to have it running again ASAP.

Hey guys I have a Song Vaio RBG-53 (I believe) with XP. I was using google images when I clicked on a picture and got a fake anti virus pop up. It wasn't the normal one I've seen quite a few times so I alt f4 closed it and immediately ran my AVG virus scan. That found nothing so I ran Malwarebytes which found 4 infected files. Two were in the registry and two were in my temporary internet files...I believe. Then I had it remove them and it said I needed to reboot to safely remove the files. I did that and when the computer started back up, it showed the initial Sony Vaio screen and then it goes straight into a black screen with a blinking cursor at the top left corner. The fan in my computer will run pretty loudly for about a minute and then slow back downto normal. At this point I'm not able to do anything. None of the F keys do anything. I tried ctrl alt del and that has no effect either. I can't get into safe mode or recovery console or anything like that. I've been researching google for the last hour on this and all the fixes involve just going into safe mode or using a repair cd, which I do not have. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.

DELL XPS 410 XPSP2 - system will not boot past the blinking cursor in the corner. I can't get to the BIOS and the PC will not boot from CD. I have tried to hit F1, F2, F8 andF12 at startup to no avail. I replaced the Video card with a known good card, still no luck.
I tried the unplug/plug method for the I/O panel with no changes.

The fans are working correctly, so I don't think it was an overheating issue and the power supply is up and running.

Any suggestions? I'm at a loss.

Hi, I have an Acer laptop - Aspire 5315-2470 and when my son turned it on it goes to the Acer screen and then goes to black screen with cursor in the left hand corner.

I have tried to reboot in safemode but all I get is beeping noises. I also read in the manual on how to restore the computer back to day one we bought it, by holding ALT and F10 upon turning on . All I get is the same beeping noises.

This computer is only 1 year old , so if someone can give me any advice on how to fix this I would be very happy.

Thanks In Advance...

A:Vista with black screen and cursor in left corner

Look at your BIOS settings. The Acer screen may tell you how to access the BIOS (boot) settings with a function key - probably F2. Press that F2 or whatever it tells you when the Acer screen comes up. When the BIOS screen displays, make sure the "boot from" setting is your hard disk. If not, change it.

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this question. My daughter was using my MSI laptop and when she tried to start the computer all that came up was a black screen with the cursor in the upper left corner. She selected the restore option which came up because the other options would not do anything.

Is there any possible way to recover my files, pics, etc. or is it just gone now? I'm really upset because I had five years of photos of my grandchildren. =(

Norton Ghost is a Clone/Imaging software to clone your existing HDD to a different HDD. What exactly were you trying to do?

Boot off of the Windows Disc Or download the Recovery Console ISO. Burn it to CD with IMGBurn Boot off of the CD and get to the Recovery Console. Here type chkdsk /R and press enter. Disk Check Outside Windows (Windows XP) The Check Disk utility will try and fix any file errors.
You can also download the ISO image for Seatools, or DriveFitness in my signature and burn the image to a CD using IMGBurn also in my signature and boot off of the newly created CD and run the Quick and Advanced tests on the HDD to test the integrity of the drive.

Good morning,

Here is what I have:

Dell Precision PWS470
Xeon CPU 2.8 GHz
1.0 GB RAM
Windows XP SP2

Yesterday, while attempting to download Windows SP3 to my wife's Dell, it became unresponsive. CTRL+ALT+DEL would not shut it down, so I forced it down by powering off. Afterwards the PC would not reboot and provided me the following error message:

NTLDR is missing
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart

However, CTRL+ALT+DEL just brought me back to this same screen. I copied the NTLDR and NTLDR detect files from my computer and attempted a reboot. Now all I have is a flashing cursor in the Top Left Corner and a blank screen.

The Windows XP was preloaded so I do not have the software on CD nor do I have a recover (or boot) disc. I am not computer savvy, so taking the thing apart is not avery good option for me.

Can you give me any advice?

My warranty ran out in march 2017 and I've only had the computer since March 2016, I am a university student so the laptop gets alot of use and is constantly getting carried to and from campus. Although this mark has appeared over night, when its just been sat on the desk so nothing has knocked or damaged it.

Hi I have been having this problem for a while.

it only effects certain programs and it dosn't always happen but any way...

sometimes in AIM the cursor moves automatically to the left. while in Photoshop and Sony Vegas the bottom scroll bar movies to the left. i am assuming because they are equally moving in the same direction they are the same problem.

I found that if i minimize and resize the AIM window that it temporarily makes the problem go away so that i am not typing backwards but it is starting to be cumbersome and time wasting and i am just getting tired of it.

Minimizing however dosn't help or make the problem go away in Photoshop or Vegas. I have been dealing with it for a while but now that i am using photshop more and need to use the zoom tool and move the window around with the hand tool for class projects i need to resolve this issue. i have googled to no avail. so i am hoping someone can help me.

Turned my laptop on after being on holiday for 2 weeks was working fine then all of a sudden left click stopped working and double tap on the touch pad stopped working i can move the mouse with the touch pad and i can use right click but double tap and left click will just not work.

Tried system restore 3 times without victory, i then backed everything up and formatted my laptop also restoring the bios to default settings just incase something decided to change on its own.

Ive uninstalled and re installed the touch pad drivers with no victory also so now i am absolutly baffled on to why these few features arnt working so im presuming something is stopping them because if the touch pad was broken i would presume the right click and touch pad would stop completly also.

Incorrect assumption, stuff partially breaks all the time. The left click button/sensor is separate from the right click or the touchpad even though they are part of the same bigger component. If you've done a format & resinstall that would rule out software and point at a hardware failure. You can likely buy a new touchpad on ebay for fairly cheap.

Earlier today, seemingly unprovoked, my left click function stopped working on my touchpad--both the actual left button and the touchpad-tap feature. I've tried rolling back drivers, updating drivers and uninstalling the device and allowing it to reinstall itself and nothing. I've plugged in a USB mouse which works fine so I am able to easily enough try different things. Any suggestions? Any help at all would be appreciated. I've tried all the options that I've stumbled across searching on Google and nothing.

PS I'm running 32-bit Vista.

Edit: I just tried a system restore (it looks like I had a couple of Windows updates today). Still no luck.

Hey I just went through something very similar. I found that my SATA cable connecting the hard drive to the motherboard had failed. I replaced it with a new SATA cable, and it booted right up. Try the cable first if you have one lying around, plus its a cheap solution. If you replace the cable and it still won't boot up, it might be your hard drive. Seeing as how your machine is that old, it could fail at any time.

Do you get anything on the screen when you turn it on?

A:Satellite Pro M40 - touchpad and left click repair guidance

I think you will not get some guides because only an ASP (authorized service provider) has someone. These documents are not for the public.

I don?t know how to disassemble the notebook but this procedure is tricky. You must remove a lot of screws and parts like keyboard, LCD, upper cover and so far.

*You can try it and try but it?s your own risk*. I think this should do by a notebook technician.

By the way, I founded a maybe interesting article for you:

I have just purchased a Satellite Pro A300 and downgraded it to Windows XP SP3.

When I left-click any folder icon on my hard drive I get the 'Windows Search' window displayed instead of opening the folder. When I right-click any folder icon, the first item in the menu (bolded) is 'Search'.

How can I change the order of these menu items so as 'Open' is the first item?

Can I remove (Control Panel-Add or Remove Programs) the Windows Search facility without affecting any software I have loaded?

Is having the Windows Search facility installed the likely cause of my problem?

A:Satellite Pro A300 - I get the "Windows search" if I left click any folder

Have just solved my own problem:

1. The order of items in the shortcut menu for Folders can be changed by updating the actions for specified file types in the Folder Options Menu. Select +Folder Options+ from the +Tools+ menu of any folder, select +File Types+ and scroll down to *Folder*. Click *Advanced* then click *New* and add *Open* with *Explorer* as the program to use. Click *OK* and *Close* and bingo! Appears the order of the short-cut menu in XP is Open before search, but in XP Pro is Search followed by Open/Explore.

2. The Windows Search utility can be safely removed despite the warning issued - the Microsoft website indicates the warning is simply a generic warning and it is highly unlikely that removal will affect any software installed since the Search utility was loaded.

3. The Windows Search utility was NOT the cause of this problem.

Trust this might save others the hours of research I had to do to find this solution ...

Can anyone on this forum tell me how to download .pdf files from local restaurants. I have a Dell P-4 with SP-2, Norton Antivirus 2003, MS Antispyware, Ad-aware SE, & Spybot.

Three restaurants that I contact on the Web offer menus with .pdf downloads that provide only a Red X in the upper left corner of the window that opens. I already have Adobe Reader 7.0 that was updated two days ago. One of the restaurants offers a free download of Adobe Reader 7.0 but I see no point in doubling up on what I already have.

This is not a critical problem, but it bugs me why I can't have access to these menus. Do you think that MS-Antispyware is blocking these programs? I haven't opened up MS-Anti to adjust the program since I installed it this year.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

So instead of explaining what I'm looking at right now I'll post a picture here:

So as you can see that bar there is putting my volume automatically up to 100% every single time I touch it. Also, recently this has made the computer unable to drag the top or side or have any Windows 8 features available this includes both Windows buttons on my keyboard. I have tried cleaning my keyboard as that seemed to work last time on fixing this problem for maybe a month, however it worked for only an hour this time. It also seems note worthy that I cannot capitalize these letters at all: z x c v m , . \ and then I can't capitalize certain letters with certain shift bars so I can capitalize s with my left shift but not my right this happens with many other letters too but the ones I listed above cannot be capitalized at all.

If you need any more info I can give it to you. mainly (could not capitalize the m and any other letters that I put that are capitalized and said could not be I Google searched for the capital version of it) what I'm asking is how to disable this bar I've searched for answers and even reinstalled my audio as some websites said to do. Is this a problem with my keyboard I'm not too sure. It's a AzzA Gaming keyboard so yeah and it's mechanical keyboard. Post this on a hardware section of this forum, may be best to try and get help.

Hi, I've had a problem with the app switcher since upgrading to 8.1 and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

When I hover the cursor in the top left corner when two or more apps are happen, I get small white outlines instead of the small preview images that I used to get on Windows 8 (screenshot attached to this thread, with settings), making it impossible to see what application I'm switching to!

Dell Latitude E6220
Windows 8.1 Pro
i7-2640M @ 2.8GHz

Would appreciate any help, thanks =)

A:App Switcher / Top Left Hot Corner Broken?

Did you try moving the pointer into the upper left corner until you see those boxes, then moving the pointer slightly down?

Ok, I have Windows XP Home Edition and I seriously doubt it has anything to do with this but, well.. the top left corner of my screen is like faded a small tint of green. it's not just one window, it's everywhere... desktop, any screen, any game, any program. Then, going down, it's sorta darker.. it's like fading into black but just barely. It's kinda blinking too, like an old flourescent light about ready to go out. Could this have something to do with my monitor? I checked to make sure all the plugs were in tight.

A:Top Left corner of screen...Fading?

Sounds like the degaussing circuit is going in the monitor and the screen is getting trashed. All color TV's and color monitors have these degaussing circuits built into them and you cannot replace them they are actually an integral part of the monitor. Save your bucks and purchase a new monitor.

Hi SuyimarLets get the ball rolling Step 1Download ADWCleaner to your desktop:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and get an alert that stops the program downloading, click on the warning and allow the download to complete.Close all programs and click on the AdwCleaner icon.Click on Scan and follow the prompts. Let it run unhindered. When done, click on the Clean button, and follow the prompts. Allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report. Copy & Paste this report on your next reply. The report will be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.Step 2Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".The tool will open and start scanning your system. Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications. On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Hi,  I've noticed lately that my Spectre has been making a weird clicking sound whenever I run my laptop. The clicking seems to come from the top left corner of the laptop and it stops whenever I put my computer to sleep or shut it down. It is quiet and I can't usually hear it in a noisy room, but if I am in a quiet place it is impossible to unhear it and it is very annoying. Is there a way to fix this without having to replace any parts?

I've just noticed a feature which I don't think was present on Windows 7, but is on Windows 10.

When a pop-up window is opened by an application the window is not aligned with the top left corner of the screen, it is slightly padded to the right. This seems to affect both pop-ups from browsers and from other applications (i.e Tkinter python frames).

Is there a way to prevent this from happening? I have written a program that interacts with an application that creates these kinds of pop-ups and my program is expecting the windows to be about 7 pixels to the left of where they are appearing.... any ideas?

This can be tested by turning off your ad blocker and going to http://www.popuptest.com/popuptest3.html.

Yes, it is a known nuisance. Just grab the title bar with left mouse button and snap it up.
