I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was doing a crossword puzzle online and all of the sudden a couple of windows flashed across the screen and the language changed from all English to a mixed English and Arabic (I believe). The menu bar at top of screen is gone too. HELP!

A:Language on my computer changed from English to English and (I believe) Arabic

Press the Windows flag key + R and in the Run open field type: intl.cpl (press enter)
Check that the drop down box under “Format: English” is set to “Match Windows Display language (recommended)"

I would be a little leery that something malicious may have been installed on the computer to cause this unwanted change. You may want to update and run any AV and or anti-malware programs you may have installed.

Hi all you savvy experts,

I recently bought a Toshiba Laptop in Saudi Arabia. It came pre-installed with an Arabic version of windows 7.

I have managed to change most of the language options to English under the control panel, but the core of windows is still Arabic, I see this with the welcome message in the beginning and some install/uninstall and error messages.

After contacting Microsoft support, they said that I should contact the manufacturer (Toshiba) and ask for a new OS in English.

Can anyone help me?

Kind regards,
Francois

Hi

As far as I know you have two options:
1/try to order original recovery installation disc on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
2/you must install own OS version using original Microsoft installation disc

If you use option 2 you must buy Microsoft disc and pay valid licence for it. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can download from Toshiba download page http://www.toshibamea.com/en/Download-Files

Problem is he has a laptop running windows vista that is set up in arabic, that is the filenames, the settings options and everything appears in arabic. It is not just the keyboard input, which is set up to use different languages through the regional and language settings in the control panel. I dont understand arabic, so is there a way to make the computer start displaying everything in english so that I can see what going on, and then have a way to set it back to being arabic? Hello everyone, my first post here, i hope you can help.

My girlfriend has a new-ish laptop that came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and recently it had some issues. The issues have got worse and it turned out to be a stuffed drive, out of warranty, its basically stuffed.

I got a new HD and installed it, but when i went digging for the Windows disc that came with it i couldn't find it. Some googling tells me that this laptop does not come with any install discs (seriously, wtf?!) only some manuals and other paper work. There was however a recovery drive which i assume was a partition for re-installing windows and the rest of the included bloat ware.

Without a Windows 7 disc we could not install it on the new drive, so i downloaded an ISO on my machine and created a DVD, but the idiot i am, i downloaded it in the wrong language. I didn't notice the NL at the end of the file, which im assuming is Netherlands? Please excuse my language ignorance if im wrong.

I know downloading software is wrong, i dont need a lecture. I'm just not going to pay for another copy of Windows 7 because the scumbag laptop manufacturer wont even include a bloody install disc!

I have the product key of course, luckily the sticker on the bottom of the laptop was still visible.

Sure i could download another ISO, but being bad once is enough for me and our net is pretty slow, it took 4 days to DL this copy!

Hope someone can help!

A:Windows Installation Not in English, Can I Force It To Run In English?

I would download or borrow an English language Windows Seven DVD. Install it with no product key. You have 30 days to evaluate. Also you can extend that period several times. It's not illegal. See this tutorial:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-120-days.html

By that time you should be able to determine you have everything working and can then find out what you need to do for activation to keep it permanently.

I live in belgium and naturally buy my hardware here. I don't, however, like to install my sotware in dutch as it's much easier to solve problems in english.
This means that I install an english windows 7 on my pc and I install english versions of software as wel.

Now, even though I do all this, I still get text in dutch both from the system and from software. For example, some error messages from windows itself are in dutch.

Can anyone explain to me how this is possible and how i can change it? It must have something to do with the hardware but when I install software in english, I expect it to be in English!

A:English installs on an english windows still in dutch

I don't think the hardware has anything to do with it. Question is whether you truely installed an English version. If that was an OEM installed Dutch Win7, then it is not part of the 5 language version (En, Fr, Ger, Span, JPN). You need a 5 language version installation disk to get full English. How did you actually install the "English version" - from what source.

So I purchased a Lenovo X1 Yoga in Japan and I absolutely hate Japanese keyboard layouts (anyone that has used one after using a US keyboard knows what I mean - a space bar that is smaller than the enter key, poor placement of certain keys, specifically ", ', and @. There is just no logic behind any of it and honestly, there is no need. One can easily type in Japanese, just fine, with a standard US English layout keyboard. Sorry, I guess I didn't need to state that, but perhaps it will help with SEO to ensure someone finds this page when searching for those keywords.  Anyway, I finally found the information I needed to swap this keyboard out (and throw it in the trash), even though Lenovo support in Japan basically told me it's not possible. It does seem like a huge undertaking though (as you basically have to dismantle the entire laptop to get the keyboard out). But it does seem as though the English keyboards are compatible with all X1 Yoga laptops (even my Japanese X1 Yoga). The Lenovo customer service staff told me to get FRU PN: 00JT864 (00JT864 N KBD,US,LB,screw,CHY,Backlit), which is the US English replacement keyboard. It's also specified on the PDF document  on this page (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/PD103738 ) for the 20FR and 20FQ. Scroll half way down and you will see it.  However, I am having trouble finding the keyboard from a seller in Asia, with the same FRU #. When searching for 00JT864, the only source I can... Ok, I have searched everywhere on Google for a solution to this, but I couldn't even find anyone else with this problem. My problem is, that after being on my computer for awhile, the English layout will appear out of nowhere in the language bar, even though I do not have it activated, so there is no way I can get rid of it, except for restarting my computer. Does anyone know how I could get it to stop doing this? To most people it probably wouldn't be a problem, but it bothers me to have it there when I won't use it, and I always make extensive use of keyboard shortcuts, and skipping from one layout to another a lot, so it makes it harder and longer to switch between them. I have included a picture to illustrate this.

Also, to avoid making two threads (unless I should), does anyone know how to edit the layouts of the Korean IME's layout, so I can have the Korean characters in a custom layout, instead of the prescribed way? Many thanks in advance for both questions, and thank you for your time!

I am currently in japan so naturally when I bought a new keyboard it is a japanese keyboard. It has romanji and kana on the keys. When I first installed it the system treated it like a normal us keyboard. Also the extra keys that allow you to switch between input modes do not work. I did some searching and found how to get most of the layout correct. However the yen key still does not work. Also the extra japanese keys do not work at all. I have the logicool k200 media keyboard and as I said it is the japanese version. It has 3 extra keys next to the space bar and the key left of 1 which tilde on a normal us keyboard also has japanese symbols on it. Also I used the lang bar after switching the keyboard layout to japanese to switch to kana. After doing this it did type kana symbols but they did not match the kana symbol on the key. I don`t know much japanese yet but I would like to be able to use my keyboard as designed so when I do want to type in japanese I can use the buttons on the keyboard to switch modes and also type the yen character.

Im setting up a computer for a family that is Russian and English speaking.

I have installed the Russian keyboard under region and language settings. I can set either to default.

The problem is, when I do shift+alt to switch to Russian, it always changes back to English when clicking on a new window. I assume that is by design as English is default.

What I want is NO default. If someone switches it to Russian I want it to STAY in russian no matter what window they are in, and vise versa for English.

Can this be done?

Thanks.

A:Switching Keyboard settings (russian and english) do not stay

I've noticed this problem in windows 7 my self,
One work around this is to click with mouse into notepad (or browser's address bar for example or any other writable field) and then switch to another keyboard language by using your mouse cursor and language bar located bottom-right on task bar, after that type something on your keyboard to make this language permanent until next change.
if doesn't work try to repeat this process few times, the point is to type something wright after keyboard language is switched.

Good luck.

I am running an english Win8 with german keyboard (and german regional settings).

That works fine except one thing: When I start Win 8 then always the English keyboard layout is enabled in the Login Screen by default.
I always have to switch in manually in the lower right corner.
When I proceed the keyboard in Desktop is switched corrently!

How can I tell an english Win8 to start AUTOMATICALLY with german keyboard layout already in the Welcome screen?

When I go to

Control Panel--->Clock, Language and Regio-->Language

then the
- topmost entry is English (Windows display language: Enabled; Keyboard Layout: German)
and
- the second second German (activated: Date, time and number fomatting; Keyboard Layout: German)

As you can I: Although I assigned a german Keyboard layout to the english Win8 entry the WinOS starts with english keyboard layout.

Because users sometimes use characters "z" and "y" (which are switched in the language layouts)
in their password and they mistype it when they do not pay attention to the keyboard indicator.

I don't have the windows software CD to try to do a system restore and I'm not sure if you can even do a system rstore if you can't logon. I've tried just about everything that I could think of and nothing has worked. At this point I dont care if I losse everything on the computer I just need it to work. Could someone please help me or at least point me in the right direction to get this issue solved. How can I fix this???

A:Keyboard layout changed to Japanese cant change back to English

If you still have English listed as one of your languages, you should be able to navigate through your listed languages using CTRL+SHIFT, even from the login screen.
