I recommend trying the free service from Zip Cloud. It's currently our users' favorite backup and storage solution and will save you headaches down the line.

You can get it direct from this link http://goo.gl/rFYDxc. (This link will open the Zip Cloud homepage.)

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

I bought a laptop last July it had Windows 8 preinstalled, I had it for about a month and the screen went black on it so i sent it to a guy in my town and he fixed it but ever since it kept telling me to activate Windows 8, but it wont activate when i put in the serial code it says "Error: 0x8007007B The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect"
I've tried to fix it and i'd get it to go away for a while and it'd pop up again but since the other day whenever i turn it on it goes to this blue screen asking me to activate it and after a while on it the blue screen pops up again but it still wont activate it says "Windows can't activate at the moment"
I think there might be corrupted files in it...

Would someone be able to help me out please

022611 I downloaded and successfully installed Windows 7 SP1 for my 32bit Windows 7 Professional, installed on a HP 2710p 1.2 Core 2 Duo Tablet Computer with 3GB RAM and 80GB HD.  030111 the system attempted a Windows Activation which failed with a
0x8007007B error "the filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect."  I have 25 days before Windows makes my life really miserable.
I have tried creating a new administrative permissions user and ran the activation with the same error.  I have looked through the forums on Microsoft Support, here and googled this as well.  The closest thing I found is here for installing
SP1.  I got it installed, but it reset my activation and I am stuck.  Most articles for the error code are for backup or restore operation.  I suppose that could be involved as the system creates a restore point and does backup files during
install of the SP.  Somehow I wonder how this is related to activation.  I also downloaded MGA tool and from what I can tell the license indicates it was legit awaiting activation.  So no errors there from what I can tell.  SFC /scannow
did not find any integrity violations.
What do I need to do to clear this error and reactivate windows after SP1 install?  I really appreciate your time and effort to assist me to solve my issue here.  Thank you.

A:(SOLVED) WINDOWS 7 SP1 ACTIVATION ERROR 0X8007007B

OK Sportsfans!!!  I figured it out...I remembered something I read somewhere in Googleland that entering Product Keys and Activations need to match the software installed.  This is mostly important when for some reason you need to reinstall
Windows from the git go.  You need to use a Product Key that matches the software you are going to put on the computer new.
In this case I did not realize the used computer I bought was not activated.  In the course of getting it up to speed with applications and updates I put SP1 on it from Windows Update.  Three days later, caused by some process, SP1 and/or KB 971033
(MS anti-pirating spyware) the system attempted an automatic activation.  It failed as noted above with error code 0x8007007B.  I further narrowed the issue to File Mismatches as detailed above with the MGA Tool.  I tried to use Add/Remove programs
to remove the KB971033 update and reinstall it.  That did not work either (took me 2 times to do this for some reason) the activation still failed with the same error code.  There were no file issues SFC /SCANNOW and chkdsk did not find anything
to fix.  Sorry Andre I did not try to replace the files as above with expand.exe as it nagged at me that there was something else wrong with the files and they were not corrupt.
The issue?  The computer was loaded with Windows 7 Professional 32bit.  Since I loaded SP1 on it, not knowing the OS was no... Read more

Hello everyone, So I have an HP Pavilion 15-ab211nx which came pre-installed with windows 10 home x64 and everything was working fine. After a few months I performed a clean install of windows 10 and I reinstalled the same version as before. It has been almost a week now and I still my windows hasn't activated yet and I'm getting this error: "Windows can't activate at this time. Try actuvatung again later. If that doesn't work, contact your system admin. Error code 0x8007007B" From what I understand my windows key should be built in within the motherboard and it should activate on its own, but it hasn't. Also, I haven't made any hardware changes. Any idea how I can activate it again? Thanks!

I have recently updated my preloaded window 8 to 8.1. However, after the update it does not accept my old window 8 key and requires me to activate again using a product key. Here is the error code: 0xC004C003
My DELL XPS came with a preloaded copy of window 8 and yes it has a window 8 sticker at the back
and was fully activated before I updated to windows  8.1.  And as far as I know, system which comes with preloaded window 8 has its product key injected to the motherboard and 8.1 is a free update for window 8 users.
So why the update does not accept my window 8 key and ask me for a new key ? I know my window 8 key cannot be used for any other system because the key is injected in the motherboard and I don't even know the key myself.
So what can I do now for my Window to be activated again ?
More frustration is that I can't get back to windows 8.
I tried to reset to the factory image by using DELL backup & Recovery software built in the system.
However, after resetting to the factory image it does not accept embedded product key.

I came across the following error message when activating Windows 8 Enterprise x64 RTM en-gb, downloaded from MSDN:
?Error 0x8007007B  The File name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.?

The Solution
Using the key provided to you (MSDN etc.) you will need to run the following in an
elevated command prompt ?
if you are new to Windows 8, click Start ?> type ?cmd? ?> right-click on a command prompt and select ?Run as administrator? in the bottom of the page:
Next type the following commands:
slmgr.vbs /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
slmgr.vbs /ato
The first command will update the key.
The second command will activate Windows.
Replace the "XXXX" bits with your Windows 8 Key (you do need to enter the dashes and you don't need to surround it with double quotes).

Please go to service and check Volume Shadow Copy and Windows Backup service are started and set to automatic.

And it’s a possible that  the file name or volume label has special characters. System does not accept some special characters like “<>?/;=-”,
please correct it.

If the issue persists, I suggest login with

also you can create another user account to login and check if the same issue occurs.

Has anyone encountered this error shown in the subject line? My computer will start running very slowly and so I do a normal shutdown and then try a reboot of the machine.  During reboot I get some kind of "Lenovo Automatic Repair" message going on.  It ends up with the ubiquitous blue screen of death with the "missing or corrupt winload.efi, error code 0xc0000185" error. This has happened numermous times in the last two months.  Here's how I've managed to get it running:  I disconnect all cables and the laptop battery and let the laptop sit for an hour or so.  I then reboot with ethernet cable only plugged in.  While rebooting, I'll press the F8 key a few times.  One of two things happens 1)  the "Lenovo Automatic Repair" message comes on again, then the same error code.  2)  I'll get a screen that allows me to access the safe mode.  At that point I just do a normal shutdown.  I start the computer up again and it starts up normally and the problem is fixed........................ until the next time this happens which is usually weeks later. All thoughts suggestions are appreciated! Rick

hi rick8864,
Thanks for Posting!

This error seems to show on some  users booting up normally and ended up booting into safemode to boot to normal mode again.

I suggest running an msconfig command an perform a clean boot.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
than enabling the background files ny one's or by twos to check which is causing it.

On some cases this could be a UEFI hardware check with the ODD causing it to fail.

You probably installed a gVLK used to activate KMS based clients.

Get your key from the attachment....

Run the following commands:
slmgr -upk
slmgr -ipk xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx (Your windows 8 product key - not generic)

Go to website of that company and try to download driver.

You may have to use another compter and download to a finger drive etc.
Once you have it, you can boot from the Windows DVD and try to install.

Alternatively, you can go to device manager, under view, check show hidden drivers. If you find one with a yellow marker, you can try to dowload from there.

I've been getting an error message every time I try to upgrade my Win7 Pro install to Win10. When I researched the issue I discovered that somehow my system partition was only 37MB instead of the usual 100MB that Windows creates when installing. This probably because I cloned the drive from a 1TB mechanical to my current 256GB SSD a year ago.

In any case, I attempted to resize the system partition by using Partition Wizard to first shrink the OS partition, then expand the System partition to fill the extra unallocated space. Everything went smoothly with the resize, but now I can't boot Windows - I just get the error in the title of this thread every time. I knew it probably wasn't a good idea to mess around with the beginning section of the OS partition, and I'm really kicking myself in the pants right now for not doing a disk backup first like I knew I should have.

So far I've only tried the bootrec commands and system repair, but neither have worked. Can anyone provide some additional methods I should try?

A:Windows Failed to Load - Winload.exe Corrupt or Missing

I finally got this issue resolved! Not sure what did it other than pure dumb luck. I kept at it with System Repair and the bootrec commands. It was strange that I kept getting different results each time. Sometimes System Repair would crash, sometimes it would say no problems can be resolved, ect. The bootrec commands were the strangest. At the very end when I would run "bootrec /scanos" it said 0 OS detected. For the hell of it I decided to do fixboot, fixmbr and rebuildbcd one more time and it seems to have worked!

My OS is back online and the System partition is a solid 300Mb. Time to do a disk image and then try the Win10 upgrade again!

EDIT: It seems I spoke a little too soon. I can boot in to my OS now and log in, but ONLY when my USB flash drive is connected. It seems that bootrec put the boot configuration on that drive instead of using my System partition on the SSD. When I run bcdedit within windows it says "device partition=I:"

Since I can't run the bootrec commands within Windows, how should I go about changing this? See the attached image for details.

Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log

Hi everybody,

This is my first post on this forum. I've recently come across a problem with my computer. I'm running Windows Vista 32 bit. I shut the computer down one day, and the next day turning it on I came across this problem.

File: \Windows\System32\Drivers\nqgbwc.sys

Status: 0xc0000225

Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt.

I have no clue what this means. It said insert windows installation disc and repair computer. I did this, self repair found nothing. I then tried system restore and it could not initialize which is a pain in the ass. My last resort is to reinstall windows vista but I think I'm going to lose everything.

If anyone has any advice or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Kevin

A:Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt.

First see if you can boot into Safemode without it giving you that error. If you can, first try searching for that driver to see if its even in your system32 folder.

I recently just checked my computer and it is not in mine by default, which means its a file relating to a third party program/app that has been installed on your machine. If you can figure out what the abbreviation for NQGBWC is from the list of installed applications on your computer, then you can isolate which program on startup is causing the failure on booting windows due to the missing system file.

As you may have already tried, i cannot simply google search nqgbwc.sys as it gives me just THIS post only. If you cannot find the problem, then the only thing possible from there is to reinstall your OS but of course BACK UP EVERYTHING IMPORTANT FIRST.

When I log on, windows asks if I want to activate windows. I say yes, it goes to the background screen with a window that says "windows is already activated, click OK to exit". I do that and it logs me off immediately. It doesn't matter if I log on as administrator or user, it does the same thing. If I answer no to the first question, then it assumes I am shutting down and I get the standard shutdown/restart window. What is wrong??

Welcome to TSF....

Try the following:

1. Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode".

A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222/en-us

2. Go to Start > Run and type: %systemroot%\system32 then press the Enter key.

3. Locate these two files: wpa.dbl and wpa.bak

4. Rename the wpa.dbl file to wpaold.dbl and wpa.bak to wpaold.bak

5. Reboot your computer into Normal Mode. This will force activation on the following boot. Sometimes if those files get corrupted, they can cause this type of problem.

If the above procedure does not solve the problem, then try:

My harddrive recently failed on my laptop which is a Dell, I've purchased a new harddrive and installed windows, unfortunately the sticker containing the key has faded to the point where it's unreadable, however I did manage to get a copy of the key. On trying to activate the key it says it's failed and gives the error code mentioned in the title. The SLUI 4 does not bring up a phone prompt and I've tried the stop service and rename tokens to .bar to no avail.

Hello,
Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to a flash drive.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.
Click Start and while holding Shift key on your keyboard click Power --> Restart.
Note: It is important that you keep Shift key pressed while doing this or it won't work.
Now you should get a window like this where you need to click Troubleshoot.
In the next window, click Advanced options and select Command Prompt.
Now you should log in into your account and after that Command Promptwindow.
Access the notepad and identify your USB drive

In the Command Prompt please type in:

Code:
notepad
and press Enter.

When the notepad opens, go to File menu.
Select Open.
Go to Computer and search there for your USB drive letter.
Note down the letter and close the notepad.
Scan with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Once back in the command prompt window, please do the following:

Type in e:\frst64.exe and press Enter.
You need to replace e with the letter of your USB drive taken from notepad!
FRST will start to run. Give him a minute or so to load itself.
Click Yes to Disclaimer.
In the main console, please click Scan and wait.
When finished it will produce a logfile named FRST.txt in the root of your pendrive and display it. Close that logfile.

Transfer it to your clean machine and include it in your next reply.

Hi,

Recently I've been prompted by my computer to validate my windows 7 as it may not be genuine etc. Although when I go to either activate online or re-type in my key, I receive the error 'code 0x80072f8f' and it closes.

I've researched the topic before posting this, and ran the diagnostic tool and got the following results,

You appear to have a problem which is preventing activation - but the report is not very specific about it.
Recreate the Licensing Store
1) Click Start button.
2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
8) Type: net start sppsvc
9) Type: slui.exe
10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

I have done a clean reinstall of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1 on and Acer Aspire 5738G Laptop that I originally purchased Brand new from a large trusted company.

I am having trouble activating "error code 0xC004E003"

I got that error using a product key a programme retrieved for me before I done the clean reinstall. I did not know about the product key sticker on the bottom of my laptop at that time.

The key on the sticker won't even type all the way so I can't even test that key, I had the same problem and with that key on the last install and was told i had the wrong ISO now this ISO is no different.

This laptop has been in for hard drive repair with new image, now I don't know what key the they used to activate. I would assume the same one(hopefully)

I had BSOD problems and thats why I have done a clean install which has fixed all the problems I had previously.

what can I possibly do to activate asap I only have three days to fix this?

Hi,
I was updating my windows 7 premium windows on my laptop to windows 10 using the windows update tool and ran into bit of a snag. Mid way of the update my laptop turned off due to thermal overheating. Upon starting laptop after it had cooled down, laptop started rolling back to the previous version of windows. Rollback was flawless except for losing the activated windows key.

The few options of restoring key is out for me, such as, the sticker behind laptop is not there anymore (its an old hp g62 laptop), possible code within box is also not an option, the code I got from produkey software is giving me error 0xC004E003, the option to activate through phone is absent in slui.exe 4 and system restore option is out too (possibly due to no recovery partition available).

Hi, I had upgraded my OEM version of Windows 8.1 (64bit Single language) to Windows 10 but now when I am trying to activate it, it shows the following Error code: 0xC004F034, windows can't activate try again later.  Is there any solution for this error code.

A:Windows 10 Activation Error code: 0xC004F034

There are literally MILLIONS of folks trying to activate Win10 right now -- mainly because MS is pushing this out for free! This code means that the activation servers are overloaded and unable to process your activation request before timing out. LOTS of folks have been reporting this problem on the Win10 forums and the advice there is to simply keep trying.  If you did the upgrade over an existing activated Win7/8/8.1 machine, it will eventually activate -- once the server load goes down.  Some folks have also reported receiving a recent Windows update and upon reboot, their PC was activated.

I have a Dell purchased machine that had problems last year.
It was refreshed using a Dell OS Recovery and Restore USB key
I would like to install Windows 10, but it won't allow me because Windows is not activated.
When I attempt to activate it I get error code 0x8004FC12.
Windows support suggests reentering the Windows code, but I don't have it.
The activation screen is showing the final 4 digits of the code, so I am guessing this machine has it on the BIOS.
I cannot access the Event Logs for some unknown reason so it is hard to diagnose any problem.
How should I proceed?

It is said on a white rectangular box and the Toll Free # it's saying to call is "(888) 524-0577". You need to have the "password" to get in and i've already tried "closecloseclosecloseclose" (CLOSE lowercased 5x). I've tried F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, Shift + Restart, and many many more. I've even DELETED all my files and everything and its still there. I do not have any access to anything on my PC and that is the only thing that shows up, nothing else. I currently have the latest version of Windows and simply do not know what to do at ALL. The screen also says near the top/middlish left corner on a card, "ask for GENUINE Microsoft software" and it also contains 3 buttons. "Server 1", "Server 2", "Server 3". I can do Ctrl + Alt + Delete and access the settings charm with Shift + Restart. I simply do not know what to do so I have come upon this forum for advice.

Windows will not boot on my Dell Desktop system. I get the following error:
Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt. Status:Oxc000014C
I stupidly did not have a recovery disk for this system so I created a recovery disk on another Windows 10 system. I tried the repair feature but it wasn't able to repair my registry. I don't have any backup images (again, stupid!). What can I do to repair
my system?
Some history:
I recently switched over to a new boot disk (an SSD) which has been booting just fine. Today I got a message from my Norton software that I needed to reboot to install a security patch. Perhaps this was a virus I picked up, because that was the last thing
I did.
I am happy to run commands on the DOS prompt (from recovery disk) if there is something I can do.
thanks in advance for any help you can provide,

Hi
The error code  0xC004E003 simply means that the Software Licensing Service reported that license evaluation failed.
Here is what you need to do.1. Press the WINKEY+R to bring up the Run dialog box.2. Type  SLUI 4  in the box and press OK. This will start the Telephone Activation Wizard.3. Select your country in the drop down menu and click the Next Button. Follow the instructions on the screen and call the number that is shown there.
Follow the recorded instructions and when the telephone activation fails, stay on the line and an Activation Representative will answer. Just describe the problem you are experiencing and they will manually activate the system for you.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7
