Q: Firefox, Ie7 And Pinball Game, Firefox.exe And Internet Explorer.exe.

Well when i get on firefox and IE7 its comes up saying firefox.exe incounters problems we need to close this, same with IE7 i cannot get on any site to i got browse the net, and also it happens to a pinball game, in the games on all programs.

When i just click on the Pinball game, it open then closes.

I am not sure if this is Malware or a threat to the computer, but maybe you guys here may know if it is or not.

Preferred Solution: Firefox, Ie7 And Pinball Game, Firefox.exe And Internet Explorer.exe.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey everyone:

I'm running Windows XP and I'd like to update my browser to the easiest yet most secure application. I'm currently running Internet Explorer, so I'm leaning towards IE8. However, i've heard lots of rumors about IE...that it's not secure, that there are bugs with the new IE8. With firefox, friends have told me that it isn't as easy to navigate but is safer to use than IE.

If anyone out there can tell me the pros and cons with using IE vs. Firefox I'd truly appreciate it. Also, if there's anyone out there that's having serious problems with IE8 and wouldn't suggest, please let me know! I've seen the postings with being unable to access certain websites using IE8 like pogo.com (a site that I love to use!)

Thanks in advance guys

A:Internet Explorer 8 vs. Firefox

Which you prefer is really a matter of personal preference. In no particular order, here is a list of reasons to prefer Firefox.
1. It is not a MS product.
2. It is not a part of the Windows Operating System.
3. Security patches and system enhancements are frequent and timely.
4. With the use of add-ons, you can tailor your browser to meet very individual needs.
5. It is not a MS product.
6. It loads (at least for me) pages much faster than IE.
7. It includes a spell-check function for Internet entries ( I am an forum addict).
8. Bookmarks are easy to organise and are automatically backed up.
9. Personal preferences are kept in separate files, so you can reinstall Firefox without loosing them.
10. It is not a MS product.

A:Internet Explorer VS. Firefox

I think googling firefox vs. ie would be a start.

Personally I use firefox, I used to use ie.
Not everything works in firefox(most normal webpages do), for example sites that use active x don't work, like windows update, so you still need to keep ie around even if it isn't the main browser. I really can't stand using ie anymore after using firefox, mainly because of tab browsing, although you can achieve a similar effect by just opening ie several times, or installing a browser add on like maxthon.

But IMO, Firefox is way better, I love tabs, and the find as you type thing is nice too, plus there are extensions that let you add features that you like, and themes to change the look.

Hello, I have a computer that has Firefox and Internet Explorer installed (latest updates) on Windows XP Pro and everytime I launch one of them my computer freezes. It does not display an error of any kind. I cannot do anything. Although I can move my mouse anywhere. I've ran programs Ashampoo, PC Checkup and a Register clean up program. I don't know if those are any good but apperantly they do not do anything to fix my issue. I know I have access to the internet because I can connect to my messenger.

Yesterday I re-installed Firefox (trying my last way of fixing this issue) and after I finished installing it, it launched to its default website. I then closed the browser, I launched it again to recheck and my computer froze up again.

I have been using Firefox as my internet browser, yet Internet Explorer still pops up with advertisements from several companies or AOL searches for products (such as: www.searchfeed.com, c5.zedo.com/jsc/c5/ff2.html?n=377;c=99;s=36;d=27;w=1024;h=768, www.pcsecurityshield.com/lp/shield-deluxe-5.aspx?trk=WTK&affid=541, url.adtrgt.com, and other companies). These seem to pop up every few minutes.

My computer's desktop image was changed to a blue screen with a yellow box that read "Virus detected, please download an adware remover" and as a computer administrator (on our multi-user computer) i had privileges such as removing programs and changing my desktop settings. About the same time as the pop ups started occurring, I lost my administrative privileges. *note, this problem has been solved, but i thought that it may be relevant*

I asked a friend of mine to help me, and he told me to run several programs: SpyBot S&D, Spy-Ad exterminator, and HijackThis. While these programs did detect many infected files and what not, my problem didn't go away (completely), so i did a system restore and the only things that remained were the pop ups that opened in Internet Explorer.

Hello to everybody in this forum.
Just a dumb question from me, again to start the new year.
Should/would a site look exactly the same whether using FF or IE?
I am obviously asking as I have found a site which i have to log into,
where there is a difference between the Two?
Not life threating, but would appreciate any feedback.
Thank-you

A:Firefox and Internet Explorer

The site obviously looks the same on both FF & IE.
Difference being when i hit the settings tab, selecting
privacy, on IE, I get the option to change my password,
Whereas, that same page appears different on FF,
Could it be a setup/settings issue that i can adjust?

Last week my computer had a virus that I successfully removed using Malwarebytes. Since then I have been unable to access the internet using my default browser Google Chrome (instead I receive a 'This Webpage is not available.' message with the error: Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

Or with internet explorer where the following message is received: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Yet it works fine with Firefox. I then tried signing in via Windows Live Messenger where it failed and upon doing the connection troubleshooter received an exclamation mark next to the proxy and key ports sections.

Is there any way for me to fix it so that I can have normal internet access? One major problem right now is that I cannot even upload pictures via Photobucket or even e-mail where Google Chrome gives the message: Attachment failed. This may be due to a proxy or firewall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since earlier today I have been getting Internet Explorer popups mostly for games and gambling. One of them appeared to be promoting AVG which I have. The popups cannot be closed except by Windows Task Manager (control alt delete). Within a session the popups return after they have been closed. I would not know whether they are classed as adware, spyware or whateverware and I don't know anything about software to combat this problem. I have AVG and I ran it but the popups still come back and I am not even sure if the AVG window I see is not itself some kind of nastyware.

It sounds like you need to reset IE as your default browser. Open up internet explorer and and under the 'TOOLS' menu you with find 'Internet Options'.

Under the Internet Options window, choose the 'Programs' tab.

Towards the bottom you will see a button that says 'Make default'. That will revert IE6 back to being your default browser. To prevent this from happening in the future, also check the box that says 'Tell me if IE is not the default browser'.

Restart the computer, and before opening anything check task manager (ctr+alt+delete) for either firefox.exe or iexplore.exe. If either is present, you may have the Poison Ivy Rootkit.May want to read the article here. It explains possible causes of your issue, and also how to determine if you have the Poison Ivy Rootkit.

First, we need to make Internet Explorer stop checking to see if it's the default browser. To do that, we need the Internet Options control panel. This can be opened in 3 different ways, but I think the easiest way is by doing this: open the Start Menu, type internet options, and press Enter.

In this little control panel, switch to the Programs tab. In there, look near the top of it and disable the setting called "Tell me if Internet Explorer is not the default browser". Then click OK.

Now open Firefox. In Firefox, open the Tools menu at the top and select "Options". In the Options control panel, switch to the Advanced tab (on the top-right). In the Advanced tab, enable the setting "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup". Click OK.

Now, restart Firefox. If it asks you if you want to make it the default browser, then click Yes. After that, you should be all set.

Hi Everyone,I'm running Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 and all updates installed and I'm not sure what my problem actually is but it started about two weeks ago when my system had crashed after four back to back power failures within less that one minute. I had to take my PC to the shop because it got stuck in some kind of endless loop where it just kept rebooting over and over and my so-called rescue disk didn't want to work for some reason. The counter tech that checked out my machine when I brought it in said that I was going to have to do a system restore to get it working again so I had them do a data recovery for me so that I wouldn't be losing a lot of stuff that I can't replace. That data recovery was supposed to have been done that day and my PC was supposed to have been ready for me to pick it up the following evening. Well I finally got my machine back five days later after having received several different excuses as to why the data recovery hadn't been completed during that period of time. When I got my machine home, hooked everything up, turned it on and was getting ready to do the much dreaded system restore... when Windows started up by its self. For some reason the Windows CHKDSK program [I think that is what it was called] had started to run. I let it run all the way through and Windows opened on its own once that program had finished running.Needless to say I was surprised by this happening but glad that I wasn't going to have to go ahead with the system re... Hello Wendy K. Walker and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean. There are a few housekeeping items we can clean out so let's do that while you are here.First, we need to disable TeaTimer so it soes not interfere with the changes we are going to make.Start Spybot-S&D.Go to the Mode menu, and make sure Advanced Mode is selected. On the left hand side, choose Tools and then click on Resident.Uncheck Resident TeaTimer and choose OK for any further prompts.Restart your computer. Now start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. I recently installed Mozilla Firefox and made it my default browser for security reasons. Since then it seems to have affected some sites (such as my monthly phone statement) and they won't open. When I click on the link a window opens up asking me to "Locate Link Browser". When I click on Firefox I get a message "Outlook cannot start the web browser for X. The web address may be incorrect, or your web browser may be incorrectly installed".

I removed Firefox and Internet Explorer and couldn't find IE, so I have re-installed it.

What's going on here and can anyone help?

A:Does Firefox Block Internet Explorer?

I've had this problem myself. What I did to correct it was go into search and type in "IExplore.exe". It most likely is in a file other than the Internet Explorer folder. What you want to do to fix this is right click the application and drag it to the Internet Explorer folder.

Good luck!

I have had this very irritating problem from time to time but it has never lasted this long. usually just a few hours but this has been for over a day now =[

I can get on msn, xfire, counterstrike: source and other internet stuff, but not firefox or ie7. When I try it says page cannot be displayed. I have gone to services.msc and checked my dns settings, everything is enabled etc.

I'm not the most technical person in the world as you've probably guessed, so explaining how to fix in steps wouldn't go amiss.
Thanks,

This problem of being redirected started with a Malware infection. I was browsing the Internet (using Firefox 3.5.6) for game downloads, after following a link to a website my computer took a pretty hard hit. I never clicked on anything to choose a download, and was leaving the site to check out other leads. Windows alerts came up telling me my Firewall had been shut off, and next my antivirus (Symantec Antivirus) was shut off. I was totally taken off guard and had no idea yet what was taking place. The next thing was I see a notice about "downloads completed" and "Media Pass" was being installed on my computer. At this point Symantec is struggling and popping warnings that I have been infected with "Downloader and Trojan.Vundo". The first thing I do is disconnect from the Internet. Symantec wants me to reboot to remove the risk, I do this but keep getting reinfected. I decide to go to "Safe Mode" to work from there. My computer won't go into "Safe Mode", I'm getting a stop error BSOD. I don't know if this is due to the virus or a problem that I had and was unaware of. From this point I leave this computer off the Internet and get on a spare computer looking for answers. I download Malwarebytes and attempt to install but the virus won't let me finish. I find out about using the Malwarebytes with a renamed executable and download that. I also read to use "Rkill" first and do that. Now I have been able... Read more

A:Firefox & Internet Explorer Being Redirected

I am updating my previous post for those of you who may be interested in my experience. I am in the process of reformatting my infected computer; what a trip it has been. It was difficult for me to believe that my computer took such a beating as I am faithful at keeping things up to date. Before I began the reformat this was the final trigger for me:
I decided to run another online scan, this time I chose Kaspersky. It was very thorough, about 2 hours in, it was still only at around 30%. It had found a few things but I was leaving it alone to finish before reading its findings. Up comes a window saying something like "Generic host process for Win32 services has encountered a problem and needs to close" I read the details but it's a language I don't understand. I ignored it knowing it was probably something to do with my infection and I could see that my computer was still being scanned. Shortly afterwards up pops another window, "System shutdown NT Authority System, DCOM server process launcher service terminated unexpectedly". Oh yeah, my computer shut itself down. I made one more attempt to scan online with Kaspersky but this time I was only on for a minute or so before it shut down.
That was enough for me, my computer was out of my control and I believe I could not take any chances with this creepy thing that was hiding inside. I have changed my passwords to be on the safe side and hope I never run across anything like this again.

A week later I got problems with IE constantly giving me popups. I assumed it was some sort of malware and I used superantispy to remove it. Now I have a new problem, while I can load websites just fine when I enter the address in the address bar, I am unable to conduct searches with google. It just never loads. Also my father has told me he is unable to log onto his email at gmail because the loading jus continues with no progress.

Also the laptop is having problems with hooking up to a external monitor when before the reformat it didn't have that problem. It only lets me extend the desktop onto the monitor but it won't let me set the external monitor as a the primary one. The monitor is a Acer x18w I think.
