I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My laptop has two SSD drives that run in RAID 0 configuration (so it's hardware RAID, not software RAID, but specifically RAID 0, where data are stored across two drives, not mirrored).

I am currently running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and ran into some difficulties when I turned on Bitlocker. I was able to get my computer back to functioning, and Bitlocker says that my drive is now fully encrypted, but I have an error message from
Intel, which is how we discovered that my drive is really two drives with RAID 0. I'm wondering if anyone knows much about this. Specifically:

Does Bitlocker in Windows 8.1 Pro support RAID 0 -- should I trust that it's actually fully encrypting my data and won't cause problems going forward, e.g., if I de-encrypt and re-encrypt to change the Bitlocker settings or upgrade my OS?

Would upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, which I haven't done yet but plan to do eventually, result in Bitlocker working better with my RAID 0 configuration (e.g., is RAID 0 newly supported in Windows 10 Pro?)?

I haven't been able to find information about Bitlocker and RAID 0 that is current enough to answer my questions.

After rebooting one of our test machines, bitlocker wanted the recovery key.
There were no hardware modifications on that machine.
Error message in event log:
Bootmgr failed to obtain the bitlocker volume master key from the TPM because the PCRs did not match
Event id 24635, source bitlocker-driver
Each time the machine starts, the recovery key is needed.
Any idea how to solve that issue and why it happens?
Second partition was created manually on that machine. So that's clear that bitlocker reacts...
But now: how can I confirm those changes so that the recovery key is not needed each time we boot?

A:Bitlocker enabled drive, recovery key needed during boot, PCS did not match, event id 24635, source bitlocker-driver

I would like to confirm if BitLocker accepts the recovery key?
Please update the BIOS to improve the stability for TPM first.
I also would like to suggest you disable and enable BitLocker again to reset the settings.

Hello and good afternoon, I have a issue where a manager started the Bitlocker process on the SD card in his Surface Pro 3

with Windows 8.1. The Bitlocker attempt failed at 3.4% completed but the SD card ended up being Bitlocked without providing the Bitlocker Recovery Key (I've never seen this happen before). He doesn't know the password for the SD card and of course
I've been tasked to somehow release the encryption so that he can get the required information off of the SD card.

Is there anything that can be done to release the encryption on the SD card or has the SD card been made non-accessible moving forward?

Initially I found that BitLocker on the Go supported removable media like flash drives and external drives. Why isn't a CD/DVD supported since it is considered removable media? Will this support be available in future releases?

A:Will BitLocker or BitLocker on the Go ever support CD/DVD encryption?

Bitlocker to Go is not supported on CD/DVD. Your suggestion is valuable, I will forward this information to the appropriate department through our internal channel.
Both the Microsoft Product Team and Development Team will take into consideration all suggestions and feedback for future releases.
Currently, you may need third party software to encrypt CD/DVD.

I have recently downloaded Bitlocker. The Install all went through OK and told me it was completed. I successfully (I think) set up a new Drive and put a couple of folders with files in there. I was then able to access the folder and files, no problem.

Now (since I restarted my computer, I think) the drive and folders are gone. I have run a number of searches but cant locate them.

How can I get them back??

BitLocker is included with the Ultimate and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, the Pro and Enterprise editions of Windows 8 and later, and Windows Server 2008 and later.

I know a BIOS update on my Latitude with Windows 8 and Bitlocker activated on the O/S drive triggers Bit locker recovery on startup. I don't have the recovery key and so am stuck. How to recover without the Bit Locker recovery key?

A:BIOS update without suspending Bitlocker has triggered a recovery and on start up I am prompted for the recovery key

The solution I found was to install the previous version of the BIOS, but without being able to boot into Windows, I needed to install the previous version of the BIOS in DOS. Some server products provide a F12 boot up menu option to roll back a BIOS update, but this is not available in my Latitude.

I downloaded the correct BIOS version (the additional info section made specific reference to it being installable from Windows or DOS). I prepared a bootable USB key (to a dos prompt) and copied the bios installer executable to the memory stick.

Because secure boot (UEFI) is enabled, it is not possible to boot up from USB key, so legacy boot mode needs to be enabled. There were 3 settings that required changing in the BIOS before I was able to boot from the USB key.

Once I was able to boot into DOS from the USB key and got to the DOS prompt, I ran the BIOS update exe. The laptop rebooted, installed the previous BIOS version and then rebooted again. I pressed F2 to get into the BIOS and changed back the settings as they were (secure boot UEFI). I then managed to boot into windows without being prompted for the Bit locker recovery key.

You able to export or view the Bitlocker recovery key by going to Control Panel -> Security -> Bit locker Management, and temporarily suspend protection (until the next reboot). It is possible to run a commandlet to specify the number of reboots bit locker should be suspended for.

You may find that installing the previous version of the ... Read more

Hello. I have 2 SSD drives in RAID 0 currently set for my primary boot drive and would like to undo this to make them 2 separate drives again. The SSD drive is currently being run by some software SSD controller and not a hard one.

I would like to make 1 full system image of the drives to use on a new one. If I have the system image, would I need to reinstall Windows first to the new drive or just use the image to install it all back again?

Let me know if you need to know anything else! Thank you for more information.

I also have a program called Acronis True Backup 2.0 I believe it is called if that is better than using Windows default backup features?

I've got 2x1TB partition using raid 0 on C: drive which I recently shrunk a little to make a 10GB partition to put "secure" items into. When I try to enable bitlocker encryption on the partition, it gets part of the way through and then my computer dies horribly. It's not a BSOD, the screen is black and windows tells me it can't find its loader.

I reboot a few times and everything is back to normal. Delete the partition, re-create it, format it and try again, same thing.

Bitlocker works ok on my USB keys.

Can anyone give me a clue? I'm wondering if it's the bios throwing a hissy-fit, rather than windows!

Hi Robinson,

Is this a software-based RAID? BITLOCKER is not supported on software-based RAID systems:

BitLocker Drive Encryption in Windows 7: Frequently Asked Questions

For hardware-based RAID systems, whilst all the Microsoft documentation says that it is supported, many people seem to have no success with it - possibly issues with the controller. Some people report success if adding a 3rd drive apparently:

@jphutch Welcome to HP Support Forum. Firtly you nedd to check does your machine have TPM or not. If yes it does have, you can see it from Device Manager   otherwise you have to do fifferent way. It is a piece of hardware. BIOS upgrade without hardware won't work. Regards.

Forgive me if this should go in Hardware rather than Win7.

My motherboard/cpu fried and replaced it with new ones.

Change the SATA config to RAID and was able to recreate the array on the new motherboard. I didn't actually have to actually create it, it just recognized it once I changed the SATA config to RAID and my volume label/name was there (was using/used the Intel Chipset).

Only thing now is that obviously the OS won't boot up (BSOD on Boot). I'm able to get on Startup Repair but all the options on there none of them are helping me get into Windows (Restore Point and Automatic Repair). I'm pretty sure this is something beyond that obviously but was wondering if anyone can explain to me what I'm missing or what's going on? And what can I do to fix it if possible?

If that fails, I'm okay with reinstalling windows but I'll need help in transferring over my files (if thats possible - I'm assuming so because it recognizes the volume)

A:Transferring Raid Array (moved from the Windows 7 forum)

Best way is to install another drive. Do not make this part of the raid array. Install windows on the single drive however do not activate it. Once windows is installed, and functioning on the raid controller, make an image of the single drive. Now access, copy, whatever you want from the raid array. Once you are all finished, you can remove the single drive. Boot with the rescue disk for whatever imaging program you used. Restore the image to the array and you are done. Copy back whatever data files, etc you copied above. When you are all done [and everything is working] go ahead and activate windows.

The above is one of the many reasons why I do not like onboard raid. IMO if you want raid, then buy a real raid card.

I use and recommend acronis true image for the above task however there are a few free programs that will do this also. The problem might be the raid array. I do not know if the free version of macrium will recognize a raid array.

I am working on a community project where students from university can engage with each other on various educational topics.

I have done a bit of research but I am not sure which software to use that allows advance features and engage with the students actively. I want the forum to be comprehensive in terms of students gaining reps and are involved with academic activities, us posting and advertising events that the academic departments through banners etc. and allows me to make changes, migrate data if in the future I want to move to a different software, SEO friendly and targeted towards university students, nothing too technical or boring?

I have looked into the software as below but I am really confused as to which one is the best in the market as I do not come from a tech background.

I honestly have no clue what happened to my computer. I thought it was a Vista problem, but i was directed here.
Original post:
"Im running Vista with i believe SP1 on a Dell XPS m1530.
Well, i left my laptop unplugged last night, and it ran out of batteries. When i booted it up today, i immediately noticed how slow it was running (just switching between programs locked it up for a few minutes). I tried restarting a few times, and eventually, i couldnt even load up the desktop (i normally just get a black screen. however, i can use the task manager to load up folders. and once in a while the desktop will actually load). So i tried to do a system restore from the Vista OS cd, but it told me that there were no restore points made (i know for a fact there were) and when i tried to set one up, it told me that i was running on low diagnostic memory and couldnt create one (something about not identifying the hard disk). Now, i can only boot into safe mode to actually use the computer (oddly, it still runs painfully slow, taking at least 15 minutes just to load firefox, and windows explorer constantly locks up).
Ive run an error check on the C:Drive and it came out clean.
Ive run a memory diagnostic check, which also came out clean.
Ive called Dell support, which ended in them offering help for $200.
The only thing stopping me from doing a complete factory restore is the 200gb of data on the drive. Ive tried transferring it to an external drive, and occasionally shows up... Read more

I was logged on to the Tech Support Guy Forum and was viewing a posting in windows 2000/XP and all of a sudden I got blown off and some kind of program was getting installed on my computer. Program named "Virtual Bouncer" which I never heard of nor did I ask for. A window popped up and said it was a 30 day trial and I had to send $29.95 to activate it. Needless to say I did file search and deleted all files related to Virtual Bouncer except 1, A file named INSTALL.LOG which it stated file cannot be deleted access denied. Dear StaffI have a technical problem that I can't find a solution in the forum. Therefore, I am sending you this feedback as well as require your assistance to troubleshoot this problem.Recently, I installed Windows Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista, and my built in speaker was not working. So like the last time this happened, I right-clicked on "my computer", click "manage". Click on the "device manager" tab, clicked on the "sound, video and game controllers". My previous sound card or some sort is there however, the speaker is not working. So I right clicked on it and clicked update software. Now it is updated and it changed into Coxenant High Definition SmartAudio HD2. Now the speaker is working fine. However, the built microphone is not working, and same goes with the microphone that is plugged to my computer. I have searched with the "help and support" on my computer, search through the net and the forums of Microsoft Technet, and I still can't find a soultion. So please tell me how to resolve this problem.I am running on Windows Vista Home Basic, and my soundcard or some sort is Coxenant.ThankyouTedpad

For those of you who are unaware, I seem to have run across a problem that was noted as being fairly common at majorgeeks.com when I first ran across it there yesterday.

In visiting their site, and yours, I found that I was unable to logon and post a message. At first I thought it was something wrong with my system, because I had been doing a lot of fiddling with the registry, but as the day wore on, I ended up finding out that apparantly in AOL's last update they changed something in their browser software that has made it unable to logon to some websites, this being one of them.

I bypassed my AOL Browser, and brought up my Microsoft Explorer itself, and found that both of these sites are accessable to me using it.

Basicly, any site system that has vbulletin as its logon programming will not let AOL's browser Logon. Those at MG's thinks it is because it blocks cookie installations required for posting on that software.

Change the default browser on AOL systems to Explorer or whatever other browser you have on your system and you can logon. Just thought you might want to know.

I have been working with Ried on an issue concerning a Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop, Windows XP Home, SP3. The laptop became infected with the rootkit.zeroaccess exploit, which was successfully removed.
The laptop has Avast! A/V that apparently removed the IPSEC and TCP/IP parts of the O/S. Here is the thread:

I had an old Windows XP Home CD from an old Dell desktop that I used to have. I slipstreamed SP3, so that I could do a repair install per Ried's instructions.

The laptop has a valid XP key, which I verified with Jelly Bean Keyfinder. When I try to use that key, I get a message that the key is not valid.

Is there a way to find the key that the slipstreamed CD has embedded? I got rid of that machine several years ago, and if I wrote the key down, have since lost it. But, it should use the original key.

Ried suggested that I post here for guidance. Thanks in advance!

I have, today, performed a complete os re-install on 2 x sata hdd's, striped for raid 0. The instruction at 0xa20afa3b referenced memory at 0x0000013d.
The memory could not be read.

Click on OK to terminate the program

Here are the commands I eventually ended up using to build my WinPE image:

dism /image:C:\boot\macrium\mount /add-package /packagepath:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment\amd64\WinPE_OCs\WinPE-WMI.cab"

A:How to enable BitLocker support (unlock drive) in WinPE 5?

I resolved the issue, but here's how I got to it:

1) I even tried using the 8.0 ADK, but I still got the same error.

2) At one point during my troubleshooting, I stopped just prior to performing the Commit to create the WinPE image. Then I navigated to the <mount directory>\Windows\System32 and ran manage-bde.exe. The result: A Windows error (something to the effect that the program crashed/stopped working).

3) I tried running Notepad.exe and it worked fine.

4) I compared the manage-bde.exe from my mount directory to the one in C:\Windows\System32 using the comp utility and they were identical.

5) I have always been able to run C:\Windows\System32\manage-bde.exe. So I created a "temp" subdirectory in my mount directory and copied C:\Windows\System32\manage-bde.exe. When I tried to run it, I got that error (program crashed/stopped working).

6) Running it from the C:\Windows\System32 directory, however, worked without any issue. This led me to conclude that it required some dependent files in C:\Windows\System32.

7) After a bit more troubleshooting, I discovered that in order for it to run, it needed something in directory C:\Windows\System32\en-US\. I copied that folder I into my "temp" folder on my mount directory and then manage-bde.exe was able to run without any issues.

8) Final solution was to create a subdirectory called "BitLocker" in <mount directory>\Windows\System32, then copy C:\Windows\System32\manage-bde.exe... Read more

The other day, I turned on my receiver to listen to the radio and I could hear a loud humming noise on every station that listened to. I then tuned into the CD, TV, and DVD channels and didn't hear the humming noise. It just came from the radio. I'm trying to figure out what it is and how to get rid of it.

Does anyone know of a good tech support site (as good as Techsupportguy.org!) dedicated to radio problems?

A:Anyone know a good forum on radio tech support?

It sounds like a fault in the RF/detector section, probably a faulty electrolytic filter capacitor. (but there are lots of them)

If you have good soldering skills, and a multimeter that measures capacitance, plus an understanding of where to look on the internal PCB, go to it.

Last Summer I was given advice to use EWIDO software to scan for security
issues. I never heard of the software although it seemed very effective in
removing security issues.
EWIDO software is rated best in a computer magazine this month(Smart Computing i think is where i read it)

Once again, Tech Support Guy posters provided top notch advice. When i am back employed, i will support TSG once again: $

A:Tech Support Guy Forum advice was top notch again

Good to hear sharky.

Bookmark this site "Calendar of Updates" and it is a good place to checkout each day for updates on Security Software and your see software listed there so can read up on it at there forum and or go to the software site.

I do hear good things about EWIDO but it will not work on 98.

Hi  ashish,
The drive must be unlocked by the recovery password or recovery key. But you lost it and haven?t print the recovery information or save it anywhere. No any other method to help you.
I am sorry for that. I suggest you consult professional data recovery company.
Best regards,

CATBYTE previously helped me here, & got rid of odd processes I spotted which I thought were causing internet problems.

After the cleaning, I followed most of the security tips, updated old browsers, got each windows update, uninstalled programs no one used, defragged, changed security settings, etc...
I downloaded Spyware Terminator - I hate it. It keeps finding things that "don't exist" and can not be removed.

Anyway - The problems I'm having are just like the previous, however I can't identify any probable causes.

Main symptoms. Using the internet, the latest IE or Firefox, often won't connect to websites, if it does it takes a very long time to load - most often just continues loading nothing. I receive errors when trying to retrieve email.

Did we miss something, is there anything that Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, or New JAVA updates might have brought to disrupt this computer?

Thanks again for the help.

I have mentioned many problems for the click mini and no one from support have responded yet... That too bad and unprofessional.

I am creating a sort summary from the related problems that many Click Mini Users faced till today:

1. Back 5 mpx camera is not working after upgrade to windows 10

2. All Toshiba apps lost and can not be downloaded from Toshiba's site (like TruCapture) the same for windows 10 drivers.

3. Is listed as 64bit machine in many sites like the one that I bought it but Toshiba hasn't yet release the new firmware that
will allow to install 64 bit windows like click 10 (you have the firmware almost ready).

4. F2 or F12 (FN+S and FN + N) buttons not working if i need to enter bios and also to turn on wifi module.

5. Super Slow charging. Will Toshiba Click Mini charge faster using a 20W charger?

I hope someone to reply from the support. The worst part that makes you to regret (that you bought a product ) from a product is the lack of after sales support.

A:Satellite Click mini - Is this a support forum because I do not see replies

Toshiba has the support service recourse provided in the users manual.
As for win 10 it's all about the updates.

I was having fits calling mine up from 8. Microsoft has a manual update site as does Intel both free.
The real way to fix everything is with patience and persistence. Keep googling every search perimeter imaginable.

Win 10 is a Microsoft product so maybe use Bing there. It's probably not the manufacturer.
Read reviews as all others have issues arising as well. When you get things squared away (and you will).
You will reflect on the journey as being a worthwhile effort .
