Getting Logged in as Temporary Profile

Q: Getting Logged in as Temporary Profile

Hi, hope someone can help.

Yesterday I did a disk fragment with auslogics disk defrag. First time I used this so am not sure if this is the cause or not.

I'm on Windows 7 Home.

This morning I booted and things were okay. But I went out for lunch and since then I haven't been able to open since. Every time I restart I get the temporary profile.

I've tried a few 'fixes' like changing the .bak file in the ProfileList in the registry but that doesn't seem to work.

Hope someone can help. I can't get to my files.

PS. Anyway to get access to the files works for me.

1. It would be great to get the same user (Admin) again. If that's possible.

2. If not, I'm okay with creating another Admin account. (Have done that but can't seem to access the files of the other Admin (problem account)... says I don't have permissions.

Please help. Have been trying different 'tips' on the web for the last 3 hours. Nothing works so far.

Preferred Solution: Getting Logged in as Temporary Profile

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So my standard user account was recently switched over to an administrator account. Now I am logged in with a temporary account. The Temp account only shows up under users when I am logged in. Up until now I haven't had them. Please help!

win7 Ultimate - I have admin account, my wife has her own account, and her profile appears to be corrupt. When she logs in we see the error message "you have been logged in with a temporary profile".

Initially, restarting solved this problem for her but now it's happening every time.

I've seen 2 solutions offered, 1 that says delete her profile key with regedit, and another that says run sfc /scannow.

Anyone have a definitive solution to this yet? Was hoping MSFT would release a "profile repair tool" considering how frequent this problem appears to be.

thanks.

Hi owen and welcome

Your problem might lie in the fact that you may not have admin rights on the domain. Are you in the admin group on the domain?

This morning I powered on the computer and I received the message "Preparing Your Desktop" along with the infamous MS circle.

Then I received a notification in the system tray that read: "You have been logged on with a temporary profile". What???
The message continued, "Log off and try logging back on as Administrator".

I have not changed anything recently nor downloaded anything recently except MBAE (Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit).

My OS is Windows 7x64 Sp-1 .

Never encountered anything of this sort. Prior to shutting down the computer last night I ran TFC and SUPERAntiSpyware as I normally do and nothing significant was noted.

Is this some sort of "glitch" or "anomaly"?

Any rational explanation anyone?

TIA

Hello. Recently, I've been experiencing a rather odd issue with my system which I cannot solve. When I type my password and press enter to get into my account, instead of "Welcome" it says "Preparing desktop" and then shows a message that reads "You have been logged with a temporary profile" because my system couldn't recognize my desktop (an error message indicating that the desktop folder is missing from c:/windows/system32). I tried to create a folder (as some people suggest) in system 32 and name it "desktop" but it didn't help. The background is black, everything is default, installed programs are still there but many things seem to be out of place. I've tried to find a solution to this but nothing seems to help. I tried restarting, nothing happened. I tried to create a second account but the same thing happened with it. It's like my pc can't recognize accounts at all. I tried renaming the profile extension through regedit (renaming the extension of my original account to .bak). It didn't work. I tried almost everything and nothings seems to help. I'm having my thoughts on whether it could actually be hardware related. Four days ago, I unplugged my PSU, my CPU and my two HDDs because I had to clean the case. I put them back in their proper slots afterwards, though. So, I'm not sure about that. What do you think? Please, I seriously need a suggestion.

Thanks in advance.

I couldn't access any of my files or folders, and it looked like a guest account. All the other accounts work. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary on my computer lately. I burned Ubuntu to my flash drive for my other computer using Live USB Install last night and then logged off. Someone else in my house logged onto their profile and when I logged onto mine a few minutes ago, I got that error message. I tried logging out and logging back in, and it didn't work. Hi, few of my computers on my domain have this same problem but I am just wondering if it's something to do with the server or with the client.

Everytime I log in as a test account which I have made, a balloon message keeps popping up saying that "You've logged into a temporary profile!" and it's telling me that the stuff will be deleted after I log out - what shall I do to stop from happening

In regedit, I see a big list in the ProfileList folder but there are no .bak files. So what shall I do? But I am just wondering if some parts of the Group Policy may be affecting it! But I don't know what's going on.

If anyone has a 3rd party application fixer which it might be easy for me to fix this problem out straight away?

Thanks!

Hi Negotron What I suggest you to do is to back up all your personal files on an external storage media (if you have one, otherwise, create a folder directly on your C: drive or other partition), then once done, I would delete your old profile(s) (if you created more than one) and create a fresh new one and go from there. It got the the point where this was happening nearly every time i switched on, and had to do a system restore to get the computer working again. i spent hours reading forums and trying to fix the problem, but nothing worked with my limited computer knowledge. So i finally caved in and wiped the whole computer and have reinstalled everything. How do i stop this happening again. I have turned off windows automatic updates as it was mentioned it may be caused by an automatic update-is this advisable?

A:How to avoid 'You are logged on as a temporary profile' error reoccuri

Hello Kirsty, and welcome to Seven Forums.

There's not one specific cause for this. However, to help avoid it getting this error, these tips may help:
Do not manually rename your C:\Users\(user-name) folder.
Do not move your user profile to another location. Leave it at it's default location.
Do not use registry cleaning programs, or the registry cleaning feature in a program.

When trying to run Windows Easy Transfer I get an message box that says I am logged into a temporary profile and to restart computer and try again.  This happens with every user account on my computer.  Even if I create a new user, the problem is still there.  I am using Windows 7 RTM.

A:Windows Easy Transfer says I am logged into a temporary profile

Same problem - running Win7RC, I'm preparing to migrate to the production version. I think the problem is that the error message is misleading. I created a new account and still saw the message ''You're currently logged on using a temporary profile. Restart your computer and try again.'' On checking with Regedit, I found that there was an entry in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList for a temporary profile that had been created some time back. See KB947215 and KB947242. It then dawned on me that EasyTransfer will not want to run if there are _any_ temporary profiles in use as this might result in lost data. Removing the ProfileList key with the .bak suffix enabled Easy Transfer to run. If you find a key with a .bak suffix, check the ProfileImagePath subkey and make sure you have a backup copy of everything within that path unless it is in your "temp" path. I hope this helps someone. Philip

A:Logged into temporary user profile...lost all administrator files

What part of this message did you not understand?

"change you make to this profile will be "lost" when log off"

The more you use the PC the less chance you have at recovering your files, turn it off.

If the files are irreplaceable you will either have to have a professional recover them (expensive) or attempt it yourself.

Remove the hard drive from that PC, install it in a external USB hard drive enclosure, then connect it to another PC that has this software already installed and ready to use
http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm
Then use the software to scan the entire drive, (takes quite some time) when it is done you can look at the results of the scan and choose the files/folders you wish to recover.

Hi-

This is a painful issue because things like chrome which are installed as per user do not work and nothing profile-wise can be saved on a temp profile.

This is the second time it has happened (the first time I created a new profile as suggested). However it has happened again barely 2-3 weeks after creating this new profile. I do not want to just create another new profile because I cannot just keep creating new ones when one corrupts. The installation of windows is pretty fresh, it's barely a month old.

Tried restarting (lots), running without startup services (msconfig) and running in safe mode but the issue still occurs.

Relevant Microsoft articles:

I have tried this and it did not work.

Fix a corrupted user profile

This is just telling you to create a new profile and copy the settings across which I do not want to have to do every month...

I have done my fair share of googline but have only found results leading to creating a new profile...

Any help at all would be appreciated

Thanks

Hello forumers.

So just today, I have encountered an error saying "You have logged into temporary profile". I have searched some various tutorials to fix my problem, I'm not quite familiar with all these so I probably messed up.

I have used this two specific tutorial as my guideline
Brick's
User Profile Error - Logged on with a Temporary Profile - Vista Forums
and
Michael Belsky's (the one on the comment, the tutorial from the link doesn't work for me)
How to Fix Temporary Profile in Windows 7

What I did:

1. Created a new administrator profile (Let's call it, newadmin)

2. 1. I deleted my user profile from the control panel and kept the files (the one that encountered the problem, let's call it brokenprofile)

3. In the registry of newadmin, I located brokenprofile's SID (the one with .bak and has an ProfileImagePath data of C:/Users/brokenprofile.

3. I exported the SID folder for backup porpuse and then deleted it from the registry.

4. I copied the files inside C:/Users/brokenprofile into newadmin's desktop (my pictures, my documents, etc, etc..)

I'm lost now, any help would be much appriciated. Thank you very much.

Reason I can't move on with the other steps:

Everytime I try to re-create the brokenprofile in the control panel user account, I ended up having an ProfileImagePath named brokenprofile.computername-PC. When using a different user profile name, it ends up clean with only my desired username, withouth the .computername-PC

A:"Logged into temporary profile" assistance please

Hello Hellocritz, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Have you already logged off and on to see if the C:/Users/brokenprofile gets recreated?

If so, and it still is corrupted, have you already tried doing a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you got this user profile error.

If so, and it still is corrupted, then you may need to copy what you want from the old account to the new one and use the new user account instead.

Hope this helps for now,
Shawn

Hey all,

I've run into a surprising issue, and its a very serious problem. On the family laptop (my personal laptop is working just fine, lol), I created a user account for everyone, four accounts, three administrators, and one limited. One of the account stays logged on most of the time and is still logged on, and right now unfortunately is the only account working. I switched users and logged onto another account, and to my surprise, it said "Preparing your desktop....", and then, all the personal settings were erased, and I got a message saying "You have been logged on with a temporary profile". I immediately thought "Oh ****, this is bad." I tried logging onto another account, and received the same results. All of the other three accounts now log on with a temporary profile error message, except the account I'm in now, which is still like its supposed to be, because it hasn't been logged off. This is the main account, has a crapload of e-mails all organized in Outlook 2010, crapload of documents, pictures, and desktop files that I have taken a hell of a long time to restore. The last thing I would want is to log-off and find that all this is thrown away. I deleted all the other three accounts, because they were now useless. This has pissed me off quite a bit, and I'd like to find a solution ASAP. I have no clue how this happened, I haven't changed any settings or installed anything new. A:Windows Cannot Load The User's Profile But Has Logged On With The Default Profile

Corruption of the user profile can be a pain to sort out, especially if it’s the index file that’s failed. SOMETIMES, however, simply logging off, leaving the computer at the ‘Press Ctrl+Alt+Del’ screen for about 30 seconds or so, then logging in as usual, can solve this without any further intervention, so I’d suggest giving that a go first.

Further suggestions are a bit more involved.

Log in as another user with administrative rights (such as Administrator) and then open the My Computer icon and navigate to the local hard disk and into the Documents and Settings folder. Look there for the folder which has the same name as the user who’s profile cannot be loaded and go into it. You may have to unhide hidden files and folders (from the Tools menu, select Folder Options and then the View tab, then, in the Advanced Settings box, under Hidden Files and Folders select ‘Show hidden files and folders’) and then locate the file NTUSER.DAT and rename it NTUSER.OLD, then log out, and back in as the failed user. This should replace the corrupted file and allow you to log back in.

If that fails for any reason, again, log in as another user with administrative rights (such as Administrator) and then open the My Computer icon and navigate to the local hard disk and into the Documents and Settings folder. Look there for the folder which has the same name as the user who’s profile cannot be loaded and rename the folder; usu... Read more

Little is done locally other than printing.  All machines are imaged with the same software. All users do the same thing.  One user in an office of six machines, can only login to three of the machines with a temporary profile.  She has no

Thanks.  She's working on the computer and does not logoff and back on quickly.  I just rechecked and there absolutely is not a .bak with her name.  On either computer.  I did find one for Temp and one for another user so now I have a

Guess I will just re-image the computers although I'd like to figure it out but I don't have the spare time to waste and don't want my user to keep getting the temp profile.  My company won't pay for the support and frankly, in all the years I've

Hey guys,

Yesterday, I shut down my computer. A few hours later when trying to log back in, I get logged onto a blank profile, which I assume is a temporary profile.

Curiously the ProfileImagePath string under key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-21-842173820-3506557639-1618326103-1004 is pointing to C:\Users\Mike_2.Mike-PC instead of C:\Users\Mike_2, which I assume is a temporary/alternate profile. (which I didn't create)

This has happened before, but usually a few restarts fixed the problem, however, that doesn't seem to be working now.

My question is, is there a way to reassociate the profile with the correct user folder? Or do I have to transfer everything over to a clean profile?

A:Solved: User profile dissasociated from account/logging onto temporary profile?

Its not an association issue, the user profile is corrupt, and is replaced by a temporary one.

Best thing to do is create a new user account, and migrate to that.

Hi. I'm having this problem where when I tried to log into my computer it gave me this thing that my user login has failed and a temporary profile had been created. I was looking at other form posts with this problem and going through the steps. But while I'm in safe mode at the moment I still can't get into my administrative account on my computer. It won't let me access it because the profile is corrupted(I'm assuming?)

I was using: User Profile Service failed the sign-in - Fix in Windows 8 this thread to help me. But I'm stuck on step five because it just says: profile image path: c:\users\TEMP which is not my user profile but under the .bak it says my correct profile.
I don't have another admin profile. I'm the only person who uses my computer.
Ugh I don't know what the hell I'm doing I'm terrible at this kinda thing.
Please help :'(

Hey all!

I've been experiencing stability problems on/off with my rig, but now they seem to have been stabilising (hurr durr).

I've recently bought a 1TB harddisk and 4 additional GB of Corsairs XMS3 DHX RAM, bringing me up to a total of 8GB.

Now, I tried to install 6 GB first, in tri-channel mode, and it worked fine.
When I installed the remaining two in dual dual-channel mode, however, my profile will not load, and I am given a temporary user profile. All my personal preferences are gone, including firefox bookmarks, desktop shortcuts, start menu preferences etc.

I'm posting a query to corsair as well simultaneously, but do any of you know or have a clue as to what might cause my problem? Or more importantly: how I can fix it?

I ran the memory diagnostics tool included in vista, and it told me I had a memory problem, but did not specify what.

Thanks for all help. It is much appreciated!

(Rig in sig)

ran a repair on a computer that ran into some trouble with booting after a recent power out
the ntoskrnl.exe file was corrupt so I copy/pasted it from a windows 7 dvd after trying startup repair several and setting the proper disk(s) as active.

the "system" partition appeared to be empty just so you know.

Now the system starts just as it should with one problem. I'm only getting logged in as a temporary user, even after creating a new administrator account and while booting into safe mode.

EDIT: I also notice that under windows activation it says status not available... why might this be? It was fully activated and the like about a week ago. The computer is running much slower than normal as well.

A:Logged in as temporary user

That's because you did something W7 thinks of as being illegal.

The ntoskrnl.exe is NEVER (or nearly never) really corrupt. It is the process that is mentioned in a crash which most probably was caused by a faulty driver or maybe faulty HW. One should never "just" copy single system files.

The only thing I can think of here to repair is to go back to a restore point.
If that is not an option... a repair install
Ir that is not an option either.... clean install.

Post back if you need help on those steps please...

The battery is no good on my Gateway laptop, so computer will only run a few minutes when unplugged.  I accidently kicked plug loose from wall and didn't realize it; I saw computer was shutting down due to low battery and I quickly plugged it back in, but it was already powering down.  When I re-booted it, it had to run through all the disk-scans and then when it finally booted, it was under temporary profile and not mine.  I tried to follow directions on Microsoft help forum (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile) to fix corrupted user profile, but their step-by-step instructions don't match up with my computer.

In particular, MS tells me to create a new profile and copy my old profile to the new one.  I created new profile, but it tells me to copy all files except the following: Ntuser.dat, Ntuser.dat.log, and Ntuser.ini.  On mine, there are 2 Ntuser.dat.log files and I don't have Ntuser.ini.  The other thing I'm not understanding is once I copy them, I can't figure out how to move it all to the new profile.

P.S.  I also tried to change the corrupted profile settings using this method: http://www.sysprobs.com/fix-temporary-profile-windows-7 but had no luck there either.  When logged off/on had the same temporary settings as before.  Plus, the computer is running incredibly slow and locks up a lot when on the internet.  Anytime I have to restart it has to run through... Recently my computer was freezing a lot and I had to shut it down (from the turn on/off button) and I know this is bad.
Yesterday I shut it down like this then I tried to turn it on it didn't load past the "Welcome'' screen and after some time it loaded and a message showed ''You have been logged in with a temporary profile. You cannot access your files and files created in this profile will be deleted when you log off". I tried to log-in in save mode but it did the same thing.

I was going to try ''Repair user account'' to see if it works but i can't see the ''ntuser.ini'' file? (This is about trying to copy the the files from the old account to a new one). And there are 2 ntuser.dat files one is called ntuser1.dat and the other is ntuser2.dat (or something like this) and I don't know which one to copy. Also i tried to copy all the files but it said there's not enough space.

I read some things and it said there is either not any solution or there were some things that worked for SOME people but I'm not very good at computers and in these solutions it said to delete some thing but I'm scared to lose some things in my old account or to ruin my computer!

When I log in the new account i created or when in the temporary account I CAN'T connect to internet. My internet is with cable and before when i start my computer i was clicking on the connections icon (in the right corner of start menu) and then i would click to connect. Sorry mate but to be honest I don’t know what you are talking about.

If there is some kind of system problem, I would recommend you to login using the “safe Mode” (while powering on, press F8 → then choose: safe mode)

Running the system in Safe Mode, you would be able to get access to the system files as well as other personal data…

Hello!

I upgraded to Windows 10 on 4/21 around 2:30pm. I let them computer sit and do the upgrade all day. I came back to the computer around 8pm that night and noted the upgrade was apparently complete. However all of my files, pictures, settings, were gone. I had saved emailed myself copies of all important documents and wasn't concerned that my documents were not there. I opened Word and began creating a new document for work. I saved it and then went to bed. The next day I woke up, opened up my laptop and found that all my OLD settings (from Windows 8.1) were back including documents, pictures, settings but that the document that I created in windows 10 the previous night was gone. I've done some research and think that maybe the installation of Windows 10 wasn't complete or maybe I was logged in to a temporary account but I still can't find this one specific document that I created in Word with Windows 10. Any suggestions?

Hey there Vista Forums,

Earlier today, my computer froze while browsing the internet, which it does from time to time. When i rebooted it, however, it ran a checkdisk scan, which it also does from time to time after i force reboot it.

The problem is, when i got it to restart and i tried to log on to my account, it says that it could not locate my account, and that i am now on a temporary account. I googled the microsoft fix for the problem, (making a restore point first, however) and changed the registery as suggested to get the account back.

However, all my files and documents are still missing, even though they are somewhere on the computer.

For example, i tried to find my Skyrim save games, and i found the folder, but when i tried to open it, it brought up the message that says how the file is missing or has be moved.

Any help would be appreciated, i want my files back =(

I ask because I've been experiencing something the last few days on the system that *I* never see.

On another profile, there's a version of Smith running (Spy Sheriff?) but...it was a fluke that I found it.
Spybot scan was only coming up with cookie type items, as was the Trend Micro Internet Security scan.

My son (limited use account) called me into the room and he was getting pups and redirects to a site selling something called, I think..internet security 2008? or something similar.
He was also getting the red X sheilds in the systray. One, when clicked took you to the website selling the security software, and the other opened what "APPEARED" to be Windows Security Center showing no firewall in place.

Also, a popup would appear intermittently claiming to be a warning from the Windows Firewall (which it just alerted to not even being on) that it had blocked something and "click here" for more info....um...don't think so!! lol

I never once saw anything of this nature when logged on as myself.
Also...Vista's UAC makes it very difficult to initiatite a program from another profile as administrator.

My main question concerns what HJT is looking at..(there are four profiles on this machine and my wife occassionally works from home ..ITS developer, the son's and guest.)

When HJT runs...is it looking at the registry's start profiles or is it only looking at actual running processes for the logged in profile?
If so....is there a way to sca... Read more

Hii

last night when i went to got on i got a message along the lines of "cant load profile, being sent to temp profile". and true to its word, it logged me on with a default profile, by this i mean close to empty desktop and settings, very few services running and so on.

i poked around for a while and have found a few things,
in event viewer under windows logs -> apps i have this error:
"Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.

DETAIL - Access is denied."

if i open up a cmd my default dir is set to "c:\users\TEMP\" but if i run "whoami" i get the correct "laptopname/Josht"

if i make a new profile they seem to load fine so at one point i thought id just try to migrate my self to a new accont but that fails as "You are currently logged in to a temp profile"

i also notced under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList" that my user is called "\S-1-5-21-2874428609-2562944749-1494310866-1000.bak" none of the others have a .bak.

the sercuity on my home folder allows full control for "administrators" and "SYSTEM" but for "josht" (me) was missing "full control" and "modify", i thought this was a bit weird so i set it for full control but on sevreal folders it got denied access (AppData and alike)
sadily it didnt help

Hi, first thanks so much for trying to help me as I'm going demented.

For two days now windows 7 has been logging me on with this message:

"you have been logged on with a temporary profile. You cannot access your files and files created in this profile will be deleted when you log off. To fix this log off and try loggging on later. Please see the event log for details or contact you system administrator".

So firstly I googled this issue. People on forums were saying to others with the problem that they needed to go into the registry and follow the instructions given. I did that and can temporarily get my old profile back. But the problem is whenever I turn the laptop off or restart I am back to square one again.

So I rang HP and they passed me onto Curry's (where I bought it) and they said I should reinstall windows! Surely there is something else that will fix this without doing something that drastic?

If anyone can help me permenantly fix this I will explode with gratitude as I really can't take this laptop stress much longer

hi guys,

whilst messing around trying to change the permissions on an external hard drive, i irresponsibly executed some command or other i found on google. i was supposed to execute it on the external drive but unfortunately i didn't change the drive in command prompt.

problem is - i dont have a clue what the command was!

and now i have the dreaded problem of a TEMPORARY PROFILE every time i log in.

i have found other threads which suggest backing up everything from that profile and then deleting it and reinstating it.

unfortunately - i can't do this,for a couple of reasons -

A. for some reason, permissions on my system are completely messed up. i can't take any files from the folder with the (TRUE) administrator account because i don't have the permissions to,

B. i have a 120gb HDD, 110GB of which is the files for my profile - music, videos, etc. i have nowhere to copy them to!

if anybody has any suggestions or ways to help me i would be extremely appreciative.

the only thing i know about the command is that it was something related to changing an ACL (access control list). looks like i've altered the access to my profile, so that my profile cannot access it, if that makes sense!

i'll post this now and then i'll scour google to try and find the command which i typed.

PS - i've tried system restore, to no avail

A:temporary profile - help!

edit -

i found the command which i entered -

cacls * /G Ant:F /T

("Ant" being the username of the profile)

**EDIT**

backed up the files onto the hard drive root, deleted the account, re-created the account and now i cannot transfer the original users/ant/* folders, into the new users/ant folder, even though all of the permissions are set correctly.

can anyone help me with this?

when i try to copy, using either administrator, or the new "Ant" account, it says -

"You need permission to perform this action", and gives the options "Try again", "Skip" and "Cancel".

**FINAL EDIT**

sorry to waste anyones time, i managed to fix this, i changed ownership of all of the files to administrator, moved them back into /users/Ant, set the new account as administrator, and then transferred ownership from there. For some reason before i took ownership with administrator account, it wouldnt let me take ownership with "Ant", so i had to do it the long way.

hopefully my little self-discussion may help someone else along the lines

ciao!

Hi, I bought my laptop about 2 years ago and have never had any problems with it. It is a Toshiba Equium L40-10Z, and uses windows vista.

For about a month now it randomly closes Internet explorer and says that it has "stopped working". However this wasn't very frequently.

2 days ago I turned my laptop on and tried to log into my profile and entered my password as usual. The welcome page stayed on for about a minute instead of the usual 5-10 seconds, and then the page changed to say that it was "setting up my desktop" or something very similar to this. This then stayed on for about another minute or so. When it finally loaded up it was put on a "temporary profile" with only a few of my usual programs showing on my desktop. A pop up in the bottom corner told me that I could not be logged into my profile and so I was put on a temporary profile and that any changes that I made would not be saved.

I can still use my laptop for things such as accessing the internet however I cannot access any of my files, many of which have important college work in.
