Latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager?

Q: Latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager?

Hi,
I'm trying to download the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager. I'm using Windows 7 HP 64 Bit. I went to Intel and downloaded the one I thought was for my operating system but when I tried to install it I was told that my OS was not the right one for that download. Could someone please direct me to the right one?
Thank you
Mark

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,
I'm on the latest build 7600 (Supposodely RTM, and have installed it as Windows 7 Ultimate), however i need the Intel Matrix Storage Manager so that i can install the AHCI controller so i can access my other drives. However when i launch the setup it says

"The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.
Setup will now exit."

I assume this is because of the version being different to that of the RC, and it doesnt recognise it as a viable operating system to install the drivers on.

My system spec is fine, Q6600, 8gb ram, nvidia gtx260.

I was just wondering if anyone knows a way in cmdline to get past the installshield requirements, or a way to install the drivers? I have access to the iaAHCI.inf and iaAHCI.cat, however when i right click onn the iaAHCI.inf and press install it fails.
I know there are other ways to install it but i just dont remember them.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated as i really need the backups i have on the other drives!

Thanks,
Matt

Have you tried the newest Intel Matrix Manager? Else right click on the controller in the device manager and select update driver and point to the inf file.

While installing all the drivers on a new OS re-install on my Dell XPS 435T, I noticed on my Drivers CD from Dell a program called Intel Matrix Storage Manager. What is this program and do I need to install it? I am not running any type of RAID configuration. I have a total of 3 hard drives installed, but the extra hard drives are simply for additional storage. My question is, should I install this program even though I have no RAID, or can I leave it off my system? Do I gain any benefit from installing it?

A:What is Intel Matrix Storage Manager

You don't need to install it.

If it's already installed, you can disable it from automatically loading and running.

Hey guys, have any of you manage to install Intel Matrix Storage Manager? Everytime I try to install it it says my computer does not meet the minimum requirements. Without it I can't switch from IDE to AHCI for my SSD...

A:[Q] Installing Intel Matrix Storage Manager

Firstly I assume you had AHCI enabled in the bios before installing Windows 8.

So, just try installing the matrix driver in compatibility mode with Windows 7 or Vista : To install a driver/program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with windows 7 / vista etc. - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

If that doesn't work post back what controller is installed in device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.

I recently reinstalled Vista 64 bit on my Gateway P-6860 FX laptop and everything ran smoothly except when I went to install the Intel Matrix Manager Driver. It said that the system does not meet the requirements for the software and that the installation could not finish. Obviously the laptop meets the requirements for it, considering the Manager came pre-loaded on the machine.

How can I fix this? I've tried installing the driver via the Gateway Recovery Center, but even though it said the driver installed successfully, the Intel Matrix Storage Manager program is still nonexistant.
Thanks.

Hello,
im trying to install XP on a Tecra S5.
As described in the manual, I created a disk with Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
With a USB-floppydrive I tried to install XP with the F6 method.
I could choose the correct driver from the disk and was able to create partitions and format them.
Short time later in the installation process, XP asks for the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager"
in drive A:.
Altough disk is still in the drive, there is no reaction.
Even when I change the disk, nothing happens.

Any ideas?

A:XP installation on Tecra S5 - Intel Matrix Storage Manager

Hi

Start WXP installation again and when necessary load driver from floppy disc using F6 option. This will make HDD ?visible? for WXP set-up. When the HDD is recognized properly install WXP. Later when WXP is installed properly you can change partitions structure.

I don't understand why is floppy suddenly not accessible anymore. Check the data saved on it.

Hi

I have windows 7 64bit running on my main desktop pc now. HDD's on the ich7 interface are running in AHCI mode.

I decided to install intel's ahci drivers and upon the first reboot there was around a 5 minutes pause of nothing on the windows 7 loading logo screen and then it finally booted, after logging in there was a very unresponsive desktop followed by a balloon popup telling me my drive is detected and to reboot. On the 2nd reboot the delay was back again at the loading logo but this time it was infinity and after 30 minutes I hit reset and booted using f8 last known good configuration, this gave me the 5 minute pause again but I was able to get to my desktop.

Looking at device manager showed that whilst using intel's drivers 2 of my 3 ich7 drives are detected properly but my boot drive simply shows as 'disk drive' rather than its actual name. I then uninstalled intel's ahci software and on reboot it was fast again using microsoft's ahci driver.

My laptop I did the exact same procedure, installed windows using ahci and its integrated ahci driver, then installed intel's ahci driver on top and that has no such problems booting.

I will update my specs so people have the info needed to help.

A:intel matrix storage manager and windows 7 64bit

ok did a bit of googling etc.

the driver that my laptop is using was an 8.7 version of the driver issue by dell for its customers I had downloaded a couple of months back, the same driver works ok on this machine no delay in bootup (although no official windows 7 support). However the drive stays as just 'disk drive', if I load the intel matrix app it does correctly identify the drive.

I found a beta 8.9.4 driver (the official latest drive which hangs is 8.9.0) and that has the same issue as 8.9.0, it seems intel is writing bad drivers for windows 7 in my experience as some may remember I had issues with their graphics windows 7 drivers as well. I would love to know if there is a solution to this as for now I am probably going to revert back to the microsoft ahci drivers.

My research so far indicates it is possibly a compatability issue between my new WD 640gig cavalier and the intel matrix drivers.

So 8.7 no pause
8.8 not tried as cant find it anywhere I expect be same as 8.7
8.9.0 first driver to officially support windows 7 pause on 1st boot, 2nd boot does not finish
8.9.4 beta driver same behaviour as 8.9.0 but pause is a bit shorter

8.7 and 8.9.4 do not recognise the drive by its name in device manager, 8.9.0 did recognise it after some unresponsiveness in the OS but the reboot after did not finish.

Good afternoon,

Having a bad day here trying to figure this out. Father's computer is a gateway running XP and w/ Raid. Windows will no longer boot after he tried to turn it back on from hibernate today.

The boot goes to:

Intel Matrix Storage Manager

all ok except

Port 1 (drive name) - error occurred (0)

Than gives the prompt for Configuration Utility but I don't want to be deleting Raid if I don't have to....I dont know what data I would end up losing either.

Than if you don't click that, it goes to the windows didnt load properly menu. None work and it will have windows trying to load forever. I tried safe mode with prompt and it hangs up everytime at

agpCPG.sys

I tried the gwbasic memory basic and smart tests....no errors at all. I did not try the extended yet as it will take hours.

Notes: Upon going into Bios...it seems I can not even change the boot order. I downloaded an XP recovery disk and it won't boot up. I can get it to go to Intel Boot Agent than it immediately goes back to the windows didnt load properly menu. So far, I can only get the gwbasic memory tests to boot up from a CD.

I tried all the reseeding and unplugging with no luck either. Did a lot of research on here with the closest problem being an Itunes related one but they were allowed to still log into windows whereas I can not nor do we even have Itunes on here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

If you were to uninstall the driver, does the squeaking stop entirely? This is odd. I'm not sure if this could be due to the hard drive attempting to cache data more often. Doesn't make a lot of sense. I will google this and see if I find any other reports of something like this.

Hello all. I'm having an issue with the Intel Matrix Storage Mananger driver (v8.9.2.1002) and windows 7 updates. I've spent quite some time looking around the net about this issue.  Thinkpad T61 widescreen intel grapics.Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bitHDD: 5400rpm 2.5" SATA 1TB (ST1000LM024-HN-M101MBB - Samsung SpinPoint M8) I've broken down the issue to two things...  The size of my HDD (1 TB) and these newer drives using 4mb sectors or something instead of 512kb one person mentioned (if you can confirm this please do so). Which this intel matrix storage driver doesn't like apparently, so this conflicts with Windows update effectively breaking it. My current solution was to use the generic windows ACHI driver, which allows windows update to function normally. I've read in places that the solution for them was to update their driver to Intel's newer RST. But for this model laptop (T61) there doesn't appear to be a version available that supports this chipset (intel ICH8M). The latest verion that supports it from intel's website has the same issue (v8.9.0.1023).  So my question would be two things... Is there a performance or stability concern with using the standard windows driver? Is this intel driver "faster/better".? Because "if" the standard windows driver performs just as well then my problem is solved.* *I've noticed small high pitched sounds from the HDD off and on. Less so with the Intel driver installed it seems. ... Read more

Hi everyone. I recently downgraded from Vista Home Basic that was already pre-installed when the computer was built last year to Windows XP Pro. I definitely like the performance boost and back to the old-school style layout of XP, however I have one problem. I installed all the drivers, and everything is working--but I cannot install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps.

Before I downgraded, I searched other forums that mentioned in order to do the downgrade for the 9200 series, I would have to do either two things: load the SATA drivers by pressing F6 during XP setup, or changing the BIOS settings and turn off the "RAID ON" option. I chose the latter and turned the BIOS setting to the "RAID AUTODETECT / ATA" in the SATA OPERATION fields instead. Others had mentioned that after I choose this option, I could install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps & then turn the setting back to "RAID ON" afterwards in XP.

However, the problem is I cannot install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps. I've tried the ones from Intel AND the ones from the Dell site. I've tried a total of 4 different apps from these sites. I've tried the newest one from Intel (... Read more

Good morning everybody!
I have recently performed a factory default installation on the notebook object of this thread followed by Windows 7 update.
I had some problem in reinstalling all the drivers, but I solved it.

Because I always am a lucky guy , the installation of the AHCI driver has brought another undesired issue.

I have a problem in searching and installing Windows updates through, obviously, Windows Update (WU).
When I try to perform an update research, I get this error:? Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running...?.

The first thing I did was to check if WU service was running looking into the service ?tab? of control panel.
Nothing was changed accidentally and in fact the WU service was turned on as always.

The second step, suggested by some tutorials on the web, concerned into stopping the Windows Update service, deleting the ?SoftwareDistribution? folder and turning on another time the Windows Update service. This procedure did not solve the issue.

After many others attempts, I found the solution reading a thread in an Italian forum.

Briefly, the post explains that the issue (more evident on just formatted machines) is caused by an incompatibility of Intel Matrix Storage Manager with some processes of Windows Update. This causes that error appearing without any apparent reason.

The solution is uninstalling the Intel Matrix Storage Manager software and installing a newer one, for example this suggested by... Read more

Everytime my power goes off and my computer shuts down I get an icon at the bottom of my screen that Intel Matrix Storage Console is doing a volume verification and repair. I look at what is going on and it says View hard drive and volume status and says all hard drives are okay. Under array it says status is verifying and repairing with so much complete and no errors found.

This happens every single time my power flicks off and takes around 2 hours to complete. No errors have every been found when it is over. The computer runs so slowly while this is going on it is pretty much unusable. I don't know anyone else that has this problem and they all seem to be able to use their computer right away when the power flicks.

I certainly want any errors to be fixed, but this is very annoying and just wondering why my computer seems to do this, but I have never heard of anyone else going through this.

Thanks

It happens because your computer powers off unexpectedly, the solution is to prevent the computer from being powered off unexpectedly and to prevent damage to the data, file system, and hardware in the computer. That is easily done with a UPS/Baterry backup such as one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...MATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=ups&x=0&y=0

Welcome to Seven Forums LJFENNELL. This is a laptop problem from what I was able to see. I dealt with this for a girlfriends laptop a few years ago. In researching I did find it was just an annoyance since the popup said everything was ok as in your picture. You can right click taskbar, click on properties, taskbar tab, customize in notification area, and set it to always hide, that will remove the annoyance at least.

My girlfriend had a Dell, and the first thing we did was a BIOS update to the latest version, as people on the forums were having sucess with that. It didn't work for us, so we ended up updating the Intel Matrix Storage Console. THAT did the trick.

For you, I'd suggest go to start menu, see if Intel Matrix Storage Console is listed in all programs, click on the help/about listing and see if you have the latest version available for your PC. Dell had a newer version listed for her PC, and uninstalling, and reinstalling new version fixed it. Good luck, A Guy

Hi,
I am going to be getting 2 new WD10EALS drives in the next day or so. My plan was to put them in raid using the onboard ICH10R controller on my mobo (an ASUS Sabertooth X58). I had wanted to run WDTLER to turn TLER on, but after reading some reviews it seems I might not be able to as it is reported WD disabled TLER on these drives completely.

Im curious if there is a way to change the timeout for the drives in the matrix storage controller? So if I do have an issue my raid won't die (I'll be using these drives in raid 0 for gaming only). I dont care about the data, I just don't want to have to go thru the hassle of reinstalling the games should a drive get dropped from the array. I am thinking about getting a wd green 2tb drive for backups but just curious if there is a way to change timeout via the controller.

edit: And by change timeout I mean how long the controller waits for the disk before dropping it from the array, like could i set it too 2.5 mins just to be sure?

A:Intel Matrix Storage Controller and Raid Timeout

For an architectural overview see wikipedia.org's page on TLER. The idea is to set a RAID disk's TLER to a value that is less than a Hardware RAID controller's disconnect timeout value. On-board Marvel (I believe) and the Intel controllers are not true Hardware RAID, thus AFAIK neither expose nor use a disconnect timeout (:. With or without TLER, when using two disks you can tolerate a fault (such as an outright failure of one disk) by choosing RAID 1. But no fault tolerance can be obtained by choosing RAID 0 (instead you will gain IO performance). With RAID 0 when one disk fails I am afraid everything will be lost .

We will need to view the system status from an external environment. You will need a USB drive and a CD to burn. There will be several steps to follow.

Download GETxPUD.exe to the desktop of your clean computer
Run GETxPUD.exe
A new folder will appear on the desktop.
Open the GETxPUD folder and click on the get&burn.bat
The program will download xpud_0.9.2.iso, and upon finished will open BurnCDCC ready to burn the image.
Click on Start and follow the prompts to burn the image to a CD.
Next download driver.sh by noahdfear to your USB drive
Also Download Query.exe by noahdfear to the USB drive. In your working computer, navigate to the USB drive and click on the Query.exe. A folder and a file, query.sh, will be extracted.
Once this process is completed, download Dumpit by noahdfear to the USB drive.
Remove the USB & CD and insert them in the sick computer
Boot the Sick computer with the CD you just burned
The computer must be set to boot from the CD
In some computers you need to tap F12 and choose to boot from the CD, in others is the Esc key. Please consult your computer's documentation.
Follow the prompts
A Welcome to xPUD screen will appear
Press File
Expand mnt

I bought a 250GB HDD to supplement the 160GB HDD in my HP Pavilion. It is not showing in Device Manager. When it's plugged in and I try to open the BIOS, a "splash screen" for Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.6.6 pops up and then a message the system halted. The "splash screen" does NOT appear when the SATA cable is disconnected from the new HDD. I checked the cables by plugging them into existing HDD and everything works fine. Did I get a POS HDD? Is MSM 7.6.6 puked? I went to the driver download site and it said version 7.6.9 was a critical update. When I tried to install it I got a message my system didn't meet the minimum requirements - HUH?? Thank you.

Hi everyone. I recently downgraded from Vista Home Basic that was already pre-installed when the computer was built last year. I definitely like the performance boost and back to the old-school style layout of XP, however I have one problem. I installed all the drivers, and everything is working--but I cannot install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps.

Before I downgraded, I searched other forums that mentioned in order to do the downgrade for the 9200 series, I would need to go into the BIOS settings and turn off the "RAID ON" option. I turned it to the "RAID AUTODETECT / ATA" in the SATA OPERATION fields. Others had mentioned that after I choose this option, I could install XP with the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps & then turn it back to RAID ON.

However, the problem is I cannot install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps. I've tried the ones from Intel AND the ones from the Dell site. I've tried a total of 4 different apps from these sites. I've tried the newest one from Intel (version 8.5) as well as an older version (8.2.) I then tried the two versions of the Application and Driver from Dell (both are version 7.5). ALL of them say "minimum requirem... Read more

Thanks !

hi Drepanon,
you are searching for...

the intel storage manager is a driver for your sata harddrive and offers some configuration features too...
if there are not 2 hdds in your machine - nothing to do...

maybe i dont get you right and you search an option in the bios to activate the *ahci* mode...
search for "ide mode" to change...

Okay, I'm running Vista Premium Home Edition 32-bit on a Dell XPS-420.

Every once in awhile, I'll reboot and it gets stuck on the "Intel Storage Manager Option ROM v7.6.1.1001 ICH94" screen. It bypass this, I restart the computer and boot from the harddrive, this seems to get me into Windows.

What is causing this problem? I was having a bluescreen issue the other day and someone helped me with it, I ended up reinstalling/reformating and installing the new chipset driver.

Thanks in advance.

A:Intel Storage Manager

think but not 100% sure its either raid configuration software but you probably not using raid or your bios is set to check hard disc for errors, have look in bios on dell press delete or maybe f2 on start up , look to see whats enabled, for example there may be halt for errors or halt for HDD errors enabled or no halt

I installed Intel SSD Toolbox - v1.2 just for curiosity because i know i didn?t need it for trim, i read agood part of the manual (requirements and similar stuff) and i thought i was ready to install the Intel SSD Toolbox - v1.2. 1) If the system is in RAID mode, delete any RAID volumes

I'm trying to get my RAID setup working with the IMT, but for some reason, I can't install the software for it. It claims that I don't have the system requirements to setup the software.

However, I'm running WinXP, with the Gigabyte P965-DS3P rev3.3, which should have the IMT.

The program I'm talking about is here:

A:Intel Matrix Technology?!?

Have we moved past this part:

You need to install the raid driver (from floppy) before (while) you're installing Windows. Push F6 at the prompt. You must have 2 SATA drives, and they MAY need to support NCQ. The standard WD caviars 320GB and below DO NOT. Model # Initials SE. The WD RE ("Raid Edition")drives ALL support NCQ, As do (I think) all the Seagate SATAs. On Intel's 965 boards, Viiv is only supported with C2D processors. You can't run a single SATA drive in the SATA mode (Intel calls it ACHI) unless you have Vista. With XP single drives run as IDE. I don't know how much of this applies to other mfgs. boards with the 965 chipset.

Hi there all, have spent far too long Googling and x referencing every number I can find to replace my 7260 Wireless N with an 802.11AC version in my U430P 80B3CTO I know it can be done per other posts (credit to amouses - thanks), trouble is the part nos have moved on.I read that an 04w3814 works, and the poster actually upgraded his with an 04x6010 / 20200555 Looked to buy a great deal off ebay, with 04x6010 FRU, when asked for confirmation seller advised it is an 04x6090. Reverse looking up one item at a time:the 20200555 is good with IdeaPad 430 Touch, and its listed equiv 04x6010 is good with S440/540/Yoga The 04x6090 doesn't have a 20200xyz FRU, but is listed as good for S440/540/Yoga. Can I reasonably deduce that '6090 will work in my U430p? I.e. by linking the trail back to Ideapad touch via S440 and Yoga? I know of Whitelist BIOS methods , but not sure if a) U430p has one , or b) if it does is it any more precise than looking for a simple 04x type FRU, rather than an absolute list of variants? Could just give it a go for $20 and see what happens, it'd be so much easier if there was a lookup matrix - couldn't find anything from Intel either, and I've spent ages looking. Thanks if anyone knows

Hi,
First thing I'd like to say is that I'm not a newb who's posting his first ever question here on the site. I had an account here and I guess I haven't logged in for awhile so I was deleted. So I had to create a new account using my old member name.

So here's my latest problem. I hope someone can help.

My old Asus P5GDC Deluxe mobo died. I had 2 500gb drives setup as an Intel Matrix Raid as 2 drives, 1 mirrored, and 1 un-mirrored.
I moved these HDD's into my new system. Now I know that I'm going to have to re-install Windows 7 x64 on them because I've made a really dramatic hardware changes. But before I do a complete new install, I want to move my data off these drives first. So I installed Windows 7 x64 to another drive temporarily so I can copy data over but I can only see half of my Raid set. The other drive which still has data on it is not visible at all in windows. Except in Device Manger, but in disk management it does not show up at all, not even as a foreign disk.
I did a quick Google and several things I read said that I have to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. So I DL'd the latest IMSM from the Intel site and tried to install it and I get this error msg, "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements". So I did another Google and read that I have to load the Intel Matrix Raid drivers as you're installing windows. But I've read that Win 7 already comes with the ICH10R drivers pre-installed. If it didn't I would'nt be able to see my... Read more

A:Got a new mobo - Intel Matrix Raid problems!

I don't know whether you will be able to get data off your old RAIDed drives (ICH6R on the P5GDC Deluxe) with your new system. If you use the RAID BIOS to configure them as a RAID 1 array, it may destroy all of the data on them.

Sorry that I can't be more encouraging.

I have 2 Formatted Hard-drives in my Laptop, an Alienware m9750. When trying to install Vista on them with my recovery disk, I cannot create a partition in the unallocated space and get an Error: 0x80042453. If
I try to install there it says that there is a problem and I have to enable the drive's controller in BIOS. I have a feeling it has something to do with my RAID drivers or BIOS, as when I boot, ever since the error that made me reformat them in the first place, the Intel Matrix thing never comes up, and I never get an option to press <CTRL+I>.

With RAID disabled, and vista installed, I can access both hard drives fine.

Anybody know what to do? I was thinking of reinstalling the driver, either the Intel Matrix RAID Controller Driver, or the Chipset driver, but i dont know which, or how to install them
How do I even install drivers without installing vista first?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mooseman,

Welcome to the forums,

Try booting from the dvd in normal mode and deleting both drives and then try your raid again.

Normally you would also have to set up a raid array in the Bios. It is to my knowledge not just a case of selecting raid over sata, but then your laptop could possibly be different

You should normally install the raid drivers, when vista fails to find your harddrives which would be a part of a normal raid install At this point you would be given the option to insta... Read more

Hello all,

I have two 160gb Samsung Spinpoint hard discs in a Raid0 array, they used to be in a Raid1 array (therefore having a total storge capacity of 160gb) but since then I have migrated to Raid0.

But, i'm still left with a 160gb Raid0 array since the migration (with 160gb of available space on the array).

Anyone know how to resize my Raid0 partition?

PC Specs are as follows:

Asus P5K Premium
Intel Q6600
4 x 1GB DDR800
Samsung 160GB Spinpoint NCQ HDDs

Cheers!

Are you left with a 160GB array or a 160GB logical drive or a 160GB partition? This is very important.

I have a Vista Ultimate 32bit machine, where I run RAID5 Intel Matrix Storage for my Data disks. The actual OS is not in a RAID config.

I plan to upgrade to Win7 64bit, but would like to have a dual boot option, were I can access my RAID5 disks independent on which OS I booted up.

I.e.

Disk 0: Partitions 1 Vista 32 / Partion 2 Win 7 64
Disk 1-6 (5x500GB RAID5) 2TB Intel Matrix Storage Data Disk

Q1: Is this actually possible?
Q2: Can I do clean install on partition 2 of the disk0 without losing the RAID

BR /// Rob

A:Clean install without losing Intel Matrix Config

Q1
Is the RAID set up from the Bios or OS?

If it is set up from the bios you should be OK.
If it is set up from the OS i'm not sure what would happen.

Q2
Depends on your setup, is the raid array already partitioned?

I have windows 8 and windows 7 installed on the same hard drive (AHCI)

On my windows 8, i updated to this: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...er+11.2.0.1006 because i thought it will make hot swapping work properly. After installing it, my computer won't detect my external HDD. so i uninstalled it because there's no option to roll back drivers and it didn't create a restore point.

I uninstalled it and my computers goes on a boot loop (has the windows 8 BSOD, way too fast to see the error). After a while, my computer will say that it will attempt a automatic repair, but never actually works.

B4 i can't even log on to my windows 7 partition, but now i can.

Anybody know how to fix this?

sorry if this is the in wrong section.
EDIT: I fixed it. Apparently i can still boot into safe mode for windows 8, uninstalling the intel matrix storage driver dind't uninstall the actual software from the control panel. After i uninstalled it from the control panel, everythings works normal now.

Got home today to find that IE would not open at all or very slowly, and my discovered errors in the system log regarding a failed paging operation on the hard drive. This is generally an indication that the hard drive is failing, so I began preparations for the funeral. Looking through the logs, I noticed that my computer had awoken itself at 3 AM and that's when the errors started. More investigation showed that it was Windows Update that woke the computer and KB980182 had been installed. Rolling back KB980182 resolved my problem, but not after I'd wasted a couple of hours troubleshooting.

Hi smalis,Your image shows two Microsoft updates:1) MS Security Essentials virus definition update. (this should automatically update in the background)2) Intel Storage Sata Controller.Neither update will "format your computer" but my recommendation is NOT to download (#2) Intel Sata Controller from the Microsoft Update site. This type of driver from a stability and reliability standpoint is best obtained from the manufacturer of your motherboard or the manufacturer of your computer system (Dell, HP, etc) if it is OEM.
