KVM:Monitor but no Mouse and key board.

Q: KVM:Monitor but no Mouse and key board.

Attempting to connect a Dell Inspiron 8300 MS XP and a Dell Optima MS XP to one monitor using a IOGEAR Model# GCS612A KVM. Have a Logitech wireless mouse and key board that has a USB connector instead of a PS2 connector. I have used a USB to PS2 adapter to connect Logitech to the KVM. The optima doesn't have PS2 connections only USB. I am using PS2 to USB adapter to connect KVM to Optima. I have use of monitor but not the Mouse and key board.

Preferred Solution: KVM:Monitor but no Mouse and key board.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: KVM:Monitor but no Mouse and key board.

The USB to PS2 adapters are likely the cause of the problem; thy simply don't always work with every mouse/keyboard.
You'll probably want a USB KVM to resolve this.

A:my mouse and key board disconnected

Have you used those USB ports for anything aside of the keyboard and mouse lately? I've had USB ports go bad, and I've also had keyboards and mice go bad. If all other devices are running fine out of that USB port, and money is tight, I'd try borrowing another keyboard/mouse combo before purchasing a new one.

A second thought: does there seem to be any pattern to the disconnection? For example, every time you watch a video, or open a certain type of application?

So a couple of hours ago my brother came over to use my computer for a game he wanted to play. He brought his keyboard and proceeded to plug his key board in and then all of a sudden both my keyboard and mouse stopped working. I thought maybe restarting my computer would fix the problem. I restarted my computer and then nothing was working my keyboard and mouse and also his keyboard. I tried them on another computer which worked perfectly fine. Also have tried using different USB ports on my computer still won't work on any of them
I have looked online for some solutions but I can't seem to find a solution to fix it. I ended up trying to reinstall windows which worked but every time when I restart my computer now it asks me to pick between Windows 10 format 4 and Windows 10 format 6. Every time I pick the Format 4 everything stops working and every time I use format 6 everything works. Not sure how I can fix format 4 which is the one that has all my games and files. Not sure what could have caused the problem.
I can't do anything once I choose format 4 so I'm not sure if I should delete it or if I can fix using Format 6. I wanted to restore to an old point but the only points I have are from like a couple hours ago from when the problem already happened.

Did you uninstall the video drivers (related to the Nvidia 9800GTX video card) or the nforce drivers (related to the nforce 780i chipset of the motherboard) ?

Is this XP Home, Pro, MCE ? What service pack ? If you have the retail install CD then you can do a repair installation and keep all your files and documents intact. You'll have to use a CD with the same service pack as the one installed on the computer. Use these guides (with another computer) to create an SP2 or SP3 CD if needed :

Boot on the XP CD, press enter to setup windows now, accept the licence, select your current windows installation then press 'R' to repair the selected installation. Make sure the option you get is "repair", else exit and report here.

Edit : If you had installed internet explorer 7 then you'll have to uninstall it before starting the repair process. This can be done from the recovery console. Follow these instructions from Microsoft : How to perform a repair installation of Windows XP if Internet Explorer 7 is installed.

I have an Asus K52F running Windows 7. The keyboard has an Elan mouse pad that I can no longer permeantly disable or turnoff. It is a real nuisance and makes it difficult to type without touching it and creating errors. I use an external hand mouse. I have gone to control panel, mouse, Elan and disabled it. But it won't hold. I've been lucky a couple of times and did disable it but upon reboot its enabled again. I called Asus but they were of little help. If I uninstall it and need it down the road can I get it back. Thanks for any help on this.

Hi All

Not exactly earth shattering but this has been annoying me for a few weeks now.

I frequent various message boards and forums, most of which have the 'mouse over' facility enabled that allows a user to preview the first few lines of text of a particular thread when they hover their mouse over the thread title. This forum has that facility enabled and active.

From time to time and for no apparent reason whatsoever, on some message boards that I know have the facility enabled permanently (I have confirmed that this is so with them), the 'mouse over' doesn't display any preview at all. Nothing at all in fact. Even after reboot.

Then, again for no apparent reason, maybe after a day or two (nothing has changed in my folder or I.E. settings) the facility becomes functional again

Can any of you fine people enlighten me as to why this should happen? I find the feature very useful.

A:Mouse Over On Message Board Threads

I find that only works when I am logged on. When/if I clear temporary internet files folder my logon disapears, and so does that feature until I log back on and choose for computer to save that status.

This is the weirdest thing. Almost every day I have his problem where the mouse will nor "respond" to click especially in the IE. After clicking few times it will wake up, however it is frustrating. When it stops responding, all I have to do is open task manager (ALT+CTRL=DEL) and it will correct the problem. Really annoying. Changed the mouse driver, batteries, ran Lavasoft, AVG, CClener, registry fixing etc, nothing helped. I also noticed that at the closing of the windows a "open program” will pop-up for a second sometimes however there is no name so it looks like a ghost software that is running.

Hi everyone, I have had a my computer for around 3-4 years now and it has worked great. I'm an avid computer gamer and love to play games with my friends (CSGO, Gmod, etc.). Recently I have had this issue where at random times my keyboard and mouse will
just stop working. It happens at the same exact time that the keyboard and mouse shut off. The light form my mouse is still on yet, It does not seem to be putting any input into the computer. As a gamer this comes to be a problem because I have been screamed
at multiple times from my friends because I have to shut down my computer and turn it back on again JUST TO GET THEM TO WORK AGAIN. Afterwards I could be playing again and, low and behold, my keyboard and mouse shut off again. This has really become a problem
because one time i was writing an essay and had not saved it yet. GUESS WHAT? Key board and mouse gone. I couldn't save my work and I had to re write 3 pages of hard thought out text. Thanks windows, I appreciate it :).

A few days ago my son accidentally... got sick, on my new notebook pc. I removed the keyboard and cleaned out everything really well using Q tips and pipe cleaner with rubbing alcohol. The "fluids" did not seem to get past the keyboard and touch pad. There actually wasn't much of it. I reassembled it and started it up. Everythig worked fine. A day later though, I learned that my keyboard was typing in caps and lowercase at the same time. sOmEThIng lIkE THis (the caps lock button operates and reverses the letters) and I can not type numbers, only the [email protected]#$%^.

At this point I do not know how to tell if I have a soft ware or hardware issue. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Todd

I just downloaded the Mouse Without Boarders so that I could use my keyboard and mouse to control both my desktop and laptop.

My laptop runs Window 7 Home Premium and my desktop runs Windows 7 Professional and both of them are 64bit systems.

I installed Mouse Without Boarders in the two computers but they just could not connect to each other.

What I've done: I disabled all the firewall of both computers and things that might block the connection but it didn't solve the problem; I also used each computer to ping each other using static ip addresses and that worked fine.

Now I cannot find a way to solve this problem, and anyone have any idea?

my desktop connect to LAN with wire while my laptop wireless.

I recently replaced the palmrest on my T520i only to discover that the new palmrest didnm't come with a touchpad sensor mouse board. Hi. I have a Sceptre S1902D-RV X9G-Gamer monitor. I am having the problem where, when powering the monitor on, it will turn on for a split second (and look fine) and then turn itself back off. Apparently this is because the inverter board is faulty, and replacing this board should fix the monitor.

I am having a hard time determining exactly which board is used in the X9G-Gamer, and also can't figure out where on earth I would go shopping for a replacement.

It seems like replacing one little board would be cheaper than trashing the whole monitor and buying a new one, and it'd also be kind of fun for me to crack this open and see if I can fix it ... but if it's going to be so much trouble to figure out, or just as expensive either way, I guess I should just get a new monitor.

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

I have a fairly old monitor (NEC MultiSync 75) that always works with video cards but never works properly when I have it on-board.

The screen resolution is set at 640x480 and the color quality is set at 16 bit, and I cannot change these options. In the device manager, I don't even have a monitor tab, however I do have 2 sub-tabs under Other Devices titled SM Bus Controller and Video Controller (VGA Compatible).

The screen is fine and so is the monitor itself, but I'm thinking that there's an issue with the drivers. When I downloaded the drivers for it, there was no .exe file. Instead, I unzipped an ICC Profile, a Security Catalog, and a Security Information file.

Does anybody know if I can just put these files into the registry somehow and my system will automatically update them and fix my screen resolution?

trying to salvage a Packard Bell Windows 98 machine. The on board video (driver/card) appears to have died. The monitor does work (tried it with a different computer).

How do I install a new video card when a can't see to change drivers/Cmos/bios/etc.

I did try to plug in a new video card into the PCI slot. Of course the machine never seemed to detect that it was there.

Any suggestions.

A:on board video dead, no signal to monitor

Putting a new card in may not work as some BIOS's require you to tell them that there is another card there. You could try finding the CMOS reset jumper, which is usually near the battery/BIOS chip on the motherboard. Using that may reset it and tell it to use the card you put in.

Can you see the POST screen to enter back into the BIOS? You may need to go back in with the manual for the PC and make sure everything is properly set. If you used F2 to enter the BIOS, it should work, but you will need to make sure the display setting is supported. If you disable on board video, you will need to get a stand a lone video card to make the change.

take new ram out, boot no picture.
take new card out, put new card in, boot no picture.
take new card out, put old card in, boot no picture.
take all memory out, try known good stick in all slots, boot and no picture.

Hello All,

I've been having this issue while playing games lately. I just got an Intel 2.8Ghz Prescott with 1Gig of DDR ram and I'm now using an ATI Radeon 9950 by Sapphire (256MB DDR). I dont have a sound card so I'm using the one on-board that comes with the Asus P4P800S-X motherboard (SoundMax).
While im playing a game after a reboot, everything is fine for about a minute, then the video starts lagging and lagging and getting worse and worse. Its like it locks up more and more, and the sound cuts alot. To the point that its not even close to being fun playing anymore. The game im playing is Guild Wars which requires alot less than I have. I also talk on Skype at the same time and when I'm fighting 4 or more guys, I cant even hear anything on Skype. I have a 3mbps connection on cable. And this is with the game graphics at the lowest.
Now get this... If I disable the audio in the Bios, and load up the game with full graphics... smooth nice game play... I've tested playing a long time and its perfect with no lag at all. Now I'm guessing that is pretty conclusive... Should I get a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 or could it still be something else? Conflicts? Im also running windows xp sp2.

Thanks for taking the time...

I have windows xp pro installed om my pc. I was working on my pc and it suddenly shut off. I rebooted and went into the set up screen to check the CPU temp, thinking it may have been hot and shuit down. I can't recall exactly what the temp was but it wasn't usually high. Turned the pc off and let it sit for a few minutes then tried to turn it back on and NOTHING! The pc boots up, you can hear the fans working and the lights flash on the cd drives like normal but, the optical mouse doesn't light up and/or work (tested it and it works fine o ther pc's and have tried other mice) and the monitor acts as if it isn't hooked up to the pc at all. I turn it off and back on and get the no input signal message. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

A:Monitor and mouse don't work

Sounds really bad, like something died that was major - mobo probably. Does your box make any beeps on boot. Your mobo manual will tell you what the beeps mean but it does sound bad...doc

computer specs?

Hello all, this is a problem that I've encountered for the first time today.

The monitor on my desktop will randomly disconnect while the CPU is running, and the only way to get it to work again is the reboot the machine. I've also noticed that the mouse is dropping as well, as the light on it goes off with the monitor--I suspect the keyboard is also disconnecting, but I can't confirm that as I have no light and, obviously, no monitor.

The problem has gotten progressively worse. Initially I was able to boot up and work for a while before it happened, but now it drops immediately after the Windows loading screen...never makes it to a viewable desktop.

I was also getting a problem where upon booting the cpu didn't load everything it normally loads on startup, and it wouldn't allow me to open anything explorer based (outlook, ie, control panel, etc). If I logged off my user and then logged back in it would work fine...until the pesky monitor disconnect.

Not really sure what to do here, but it's turned into a potentially disastrous problem. Any help would be of great appreciation.

As of a few days ago it was running fine. The only thing I've downloaded in that time is ESPN Motion from their website, and when I finally managed to get into the control panel I removed it. That download had actually caused me problems months ago when it was first introduced...it would result in IE crashing on me. So I stayed away from it for a long time, but... Read more

A:Monitor & Mouse are Disconnecting

Your monitor goes amber, like your video card not recognized?

Sounds like a power supply on the way out to me.

Any way to try different PS?

Disable the "Digital Natural Motion" or "120Hz" features of the TV. The exact location of both options will be detailed in the TV's manual.

I have just swapped my old 19 inch square monitor for a dell 24inch wide screen monitor, now my mouse control has started acting strange, the wheel scrolling does not work, if i open any page it scrolles to the middle or right side of the page and if you try to take it to the left it springs straight back to the right. when i left click it show me the options dropdown which the disappears before you can click any thing ie: copy and paste, everything was fine until i swapped my monitor....i have checked the mouse control setting in control panel and everything appeares fine Help

A:Solved: Monitor or Mouse? help

A new or different monitor shouldn't affect mouse behaviour, I can think of no logical reason how it could.
It's probably one of those strange coincidences where the mouse has just now starting acting up.

If I were you, I'd want to see how a different mouse behaves before jumping to any conclusions.

I have 2 computers and an A/B box so I can use only one monitor/keyboard/mouse. After installing Win2000 I found that win2000 notices if a device has been "unpluged" so when I go back to the win2000 computer my keyboard locks up and I have to reboot. Is there anyway I can disable this check, at least while I am using the other computer. I tryed to put this computer in standby mode and that did not seem to help.
