Yoga 910 13IKB 80VF turns of external screen when I move away

Q: Yoga 910 13IKB 80VF turns of external screen when I move away

My Yoga 910 turns off the external screen - not when I do anything at all - but when sitting in front of it with external screen. When I leave the desk - then it turns itself off - or rather turns the external screen off. It is sooo weird - I do not TOUCH ANYTHING - just by myself standing up and walk away. It does not happen every time - more like in periods - some days it days - everytime I go away. Other days it just behave normally. This happens when i use my Yoga as a desktop with external screen, external mouse and external keyboard and only using external screen. Bob Johnston

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

For those looking for ICC profiles for their UHD Yoga 910. I found one on a review site which could be installed through Windows 10 Color Management App. The colors with this profile are way more vibrant and makes the black more, well, black. I love it! Not a graphic designer or any expert like that so my opinions could be worthless. You can find the ICC Profile file on the "Display" part of the review linked below. Enjoy! The link to the review:http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-Yoga-910-13IKB-Convertible-Review.188936.0.html

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to start a new post on this site so please forgive me for hijacking this thread.  I have a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB Model Name 80VF that died about 4 months ago - battery quit charging.  It was three months past warranty...sigh.... I took it back to Best Buy and they told me my charging cable was fine and to get it fixed I'd have to send it off for 6 weeks and it would cost me a minimum of $500.00.  Since I was using this computer for my job (I'm self employed) this really wasn't an option so I went to the apple store and purchased a mackbook pro.  However, I would like to get this Lenovo fixed and use it as a backup.  My questions:1.  Should I replace the battery?2.  Lenovo seems to be out of stock of batteries:  Is there another source where I can buy on line?  I can't find anything.3.  Should I look at replacing the little circuit board that connects the power source to the battery?  I can't seem to find a P/N for it (I removed that back plate of the laptop). Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Support for this product from Lenovo has been underwhelming to say the least. Jeff BueNewark, Texas, USA

I recently got my laptop repaired due to an issue with motherboard. It was fine for a month. Now I have a new issue. The screen flickers. Updated display driver.Tried installing fresh drivers.Reset Windows When I watch a movie or photos, the screen hangs. Blue screen. I have a water mark of the last seen photo on my screen upon restart. I will once again take it to the service center.  I am frustrated with this laptop now and I dont even get a good price if I intend to sell it. Such a waste of my money

A:Yoga 910-131KB 80VF Screen Flicker Issues

Hi, I have the same problem with my Yoga 730. I bought it in October 2018, from Chicago. After a few months, the touch screen stopped working. I didn't have time so I waited and got it fixed only last month, before the expiry of the warranty. It was covered under warranty. The warranty expired on 25th October, and I got it fixed on 8th October. After a month, on 15th of November, the screen started flickering. The brightness was going up and down on its own. I took it to the service center the same day, they kept the laptop and today on 18th, they sent me a mailing quoting the price of 8500 for repairing of cable. The person who took my laptop in the service center explained that since the screen rotates, the cable might have a problem, and that what it was, the cable had a problem!Of course, I did my research on it and turns out that there are many consumers like me who are facing problems like this. Because I am a student/researcher and I have traded off with Macbook to buy this model of Lenevo, I am highly disappointed. I have two basic points to state, one being that you have engineered a high-end product, where consumers are facing similar problems so much so that it has now become a pattern, yet your brand is taking no responsibility for it. If you cannot come up with better products just don't even try but don't make fool out of consumers. Secondly, since it hasn't even been a year that I have made two trips to the service center, it gets unacceptable as it can get whe... Read more

Hello! When I connect my Yoga 900 laptop to my Samsung external monitor using a USB-C/HDMI adapter, the laptop screen flashes black and the external screen does nothing. Between the flashes I can see my desktop background goes blue and every program/file that is open begins popping up and closing on repeat. Nothing ever shows on the external monitor. The only fix is to unplug the two, but if I let the laptop flash for more than about a minute it eventually goes black. When this happens, unplugging it from the monitor does nothing and it has to be manually restarted using the side button. As noted in other forum solutions, I manually updated all video and chip drivers.I have tested the monitor's HDMI port, the Yoga 900's USB-C port, and the HDMI cable itself. I have also tried a different brand of USB-C adapter. Pressing Windows + P doesn't seem to do much, as I can see the menu between the flashes and click "expand" but nothing happens. Any idea what else I can do? Thank you.

I cannot get the information from Lenovo support, so I hope there is someone in this forum who can answer. Can I connect the Yoga 910 (with UHD 4K display) USB-C 'always charging' port to an external 4K monitor with USB-C input like LG's 27UD88-W or Lenovo Thinkvision X1 wide and :- work on both devices @60Hz 3840 x 2160 resolution ?- have through the same cable the Yoga 910 charging to 60W (with LG 27UD88-W led monitor) ?- use at the same time the other monitor's ports as a hub seen by the notebook ?- transmit at the same time data on the second Yoga 910 USB-C port ?Some question as above with external USB-C monitor connected to the USB-C 'display output' port (I don't know really what the difference is between the 2 USB-C ports, if they are dedicated to power OR display, but cannot do both) thanks for your time

I am going to detail my experience connecting my brand new Lenovo Yoga 920-13IKB-80Y70063US to my also brand new LG 43UD79-B 43" Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor which has a USB-C port in addition to its 2xHMDI/DP/2xUSB3.0 ports. First of all , it works! I get both power delivery and am able to extend the screen onto the monitor in 4K resolution using one USB-C cable. I am writing here to help others, but also because there is a power cycling order in which it does not work, which I would like to know if someone knows what it is. If I play with it enough, I get back to making it work again, but have not figured out the order of rebooting, connecting and disconnecting cables where it consistently works. Power delivery is always working through the cable, the monitor extension is what I have to play to get it working. OK, so here are the steps I need to get these to to work together: 1 - After unboxing Yoga 920, run windows update and reboot several times until it says there is nothing else to update. I am looking to upgrade my lenovo yoga 910 13IKB screen to one compatable with an active digitizer that is available with some of the newer models. From my understanding, as long as the form factor is the same(fits computer) and the connector is identicle it should be possible with just a torx driver. My finance's laptop is a generation newer (has digitizer pen) and seems to have the same dimensions as mine. Has anyone tried this or know if I am missing something? Thoughts?

I'm experiencing a very annoying blinking/flickering of the built-in 4K display.Have a look at this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdd4UICu_T4On the movie it isn't nearly as bad as in reality. The flickering is only visible with a blue, dark gray or purple color background. White, red or black is fine. The issue appears to be independent of the OS - the same can be observed in Linux or even in the BIOS.It all started after I attached a second screen (FullHD 24 inch using Thunderbold->HDMI adapter) in Windows 10 (latest Intel display drivers as of January 26, 2018).Just after connecting the external display the laptop screen went gibberish but the external display worked fine. After disconnecting the screen and restarting the computer the blinking started. It looks like a problem with the refresh rate. The laptop display behaves like an old CRT display with a low refresh rate I found this procedure https://support.lenovo.com/pl/en/solutions/ht500364 in another thread and followed it but unfortunately it didn't help.  The computer is almost brand new (bought in December, top version i7-8550U, 16GB RAM, 1TB NVMe, 4K UHD display). Any help appreciated.

My Lenovo Yoga 920-13IKB is a 2 in 1 laptop running Windows 10 Home.  Meaning full Active S Pen and Touch screen.  After installing the Version  1909 update, it's Device Specifications (via Windows Settings) Pen and touch:  No pen or touch input is available for this display.    In Device Manager/Human Interface Devices, no HID Touch screen device or driver is available.  The Wacom Device cannot start.  I'm assuming because Version 1909 eliminated the pen and touch support. I ran a full restore of Win 10 Home (no pen or touch support found), ran a driver update scan via Lenovo.  It identified a "Touch Panel Pen Driver - 10" driver to be updated.  Update the driver and reboot and nothing has changed.  Start the Lenovo Pen Settings App and get a message that the Wacom Pen Driver is required.  Odd, since the Wacom Device won't start as stated above.  Follow the Lenovo Pen Settings link to download the Wacom Pen driver, install it, no change in functionality.  Same process before and after v1909 update with no Pen or Touch support.  It's barebones, no antivirus, firewall, anti-malware to get in the way. The machine came with a HDD partition of drivers but nothing identified as an HID touch screen.   Brett

I purchased this laptop about 6 months ago and it cracked right at the hinge for the screen. The touch screen no longer functions properly and the screen flickers black. The laptop has been treated with care the whole time and was never dropped or anything like that. This crack merely developed from using the laptop as intended. I called Lenovo customer service and they said the warranty did not cover physical damage. I asked to speak with a supervisor and she did not care at all that I had an unsatisfactory product. This laptop is either poorly designed or built with cheap parts if it can not withstand opening and closing the screen without cracking. I am very surprised that Lenovo is clearly not concerned at all with the quality of their products or customer satisfaction.

Hi...I am hoping to get some guidance on an issue that I am having.  We bought my daughter a Yoga 730 for college in July and she started experiencing issues with the screen flickering to the point she cannot use it except for in tablet mode.  In tablet mode she says it does not flicker at all but it is harder for her to use (and she honestly should be able to use it as a laptop also..that is why we chose the Yoga).  I purchased it via Amazon and their tech support sent links to update the BIOS etc. which my daughter has done but the flicker continues. My problem(s) are these 1) Get the flicker issue resolved.  Since it works fine in tablet mode it most likely is not a software issue and I have read quite a few posts online about the wire to the display being pinched but need someone who knows about these things to take a look at it and resolve the issue.  2) She is at college 13 hours away and needs to use her laptop on a daily basis for school.  The 13 hours means I cannot drive over to her dorm and take a look at it and her need to use it means she cannot go without a machine for long. If someone could provide some insight into how Lenovo typically handles these types of issues and what type of turnaround time she can expect?  There is a warranty place near where she is at school and that might help with the shipping time etc. but not sure. Thanks in advance....

I was enjoying streaming on twitch with my charger in for around 2 hours when all of a sudden my screen went black and my laptop shut down. I tried to reboot and hard reset and nothing was working. I get a led light when i plug in the chager and it either stays solid white or is white and blinks  every 3-5 seconds and also when i hold the power button in to boot up after close to 10 seconds the power led blinks 1 time. No boot, No post, No display just black screen and unresponisive. No fan sound no nothing. I looked up and saw that removing the battery and draining power then putting it back in may do the trick. I tried since my year warranty was already up and it did nothing, same issues from before. I then dug deeper and found out that with taking the battery out and draining power to also unscrew and unattach and reattach the CMOS battery. So I tried this and got everything put back in and I'm still stuck with the same problem. NO boot no display no sound of things trying to start like fan. Completely unresponsive besides the charge led and power led. Any solutions becasue I have hit a wall and want to find out as much as I can before buying a battery or sending it in.

This goes on endlessly, until the battery is discharged.I force power off the notebook by long pressing the power button. Anyone facing a similar issue? 2. For startup, when I press the power button, the LED light flashes, Lenovo logo comes on the screen and goes off. Hello,I have many issues with my Yoga 920 that I purchased less than a month ago (but over 14 days). The machine runs Windows Home Intel(R) Quad(TM) i7 8550U  16GB RAM 526SSDFirst as stated above the screen flickers. This is extremely annoying!Next my event log has a TON of error codes; however, I am not a developer so I have no idea if these errors/warnings are important. When I run Lenovo Companion, Webroot or previously McAfee nothing is reported. Is there anyway someone from lenovo can connect to my laptop remotley to figure out what is going on?

I have been suffering with the screen flicker mentioned in a number of other posts.  However I have had the sense that it was not related to hardware.  The reason being that any moving of the screen or tapping of the screen joint would not cause any change in the flciker. I took the back off and tried the fix that is shown on YouTube but then a few days later the same issue was apparent. Then I caught that it seems to be related to Firefox.  A tab for BBC news had the flicker, a different tab did not. It also seemed to be related to only a section of the webpage that was open, as scrolling would stop the flciker.  Chrome on the same page did not flicker.  Even in window mode the Firefox tab flickered and would do so with Task Manager open. All drivers are current and all software up to date. I turned off the Hardware acceleration in Firefox and the tab was fine after.  That said I have seen the issue in another app so I wonder if it is a fault with using the video memory sharing or something like that.  Either way I wish Lenovo would be more proactive in trying to resolve the issue.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

It may sound to me like hardware issue of your monitor, the best thing to do will be to open a ticket to Lenovo. If the machine is on warranty they will cover, otherwise they are going to charge you. But I'm not complete sure.

But maybe you can specify what kind of movement are you doing to get your screen black, is it a light movement of screen when you move it on the hinges? , or is it when you disconect the laptop from the power and lift all the computer? what if you move it gently? how hard do you need to move it for the screen to turn off?

Sorry for having more question. I can suggest you to check the support site and update the BIOS, Power drivers and Video drivers just in case.

Regards

My Yoga 910 performed a Windows 10 update yesterday afternoon and soon after, my left and right touchpad buttons wouldn't register. I was able to mover the curser by gliding my finger across the touchpad surface, but couldn't click to activate anything. I did a bunch of things: 1) Deleted and suposedly reinstalled the touchpad driver (although when I try to identify the driver in Device Manager, I cant find any concrete information--just an assurance that the most up to date driver is installed.) When I open "Human Interface Devices" I DO NOT see and "!" after "HIP Compliant Touchpad". Further, when I open "Mice and other pointing devices", there is no mention of "touchpad". 2) Confirmed that touchpad is "enabled". 3) Using Lenovo Advantage and Bridgelink, I confirmed that all drivers are current. 4) Did a system restore to the day before the Windows 10 update. 5) Reinstalled the most recent version of Windows 10. 6) Chatted with Microsoft tech support, but they weren't able to help. 7) Spoke to a trusted IT person who told me that this exact thing happened to his wive's computer following a Windows update and that he thinks the glitch is on the Microsoft side. Nothing restored touchpad function. From reading the boards, I understand that there aren't any touchpad drivers from independent vendors available to download because they are suposed to be embedded in Windows 10. Good evening I am hoping that we as a community can get this issue solved. Lenovo must do a recall on the Yoga 730 for the very clear and apparent screen flicker problem that has affected 100s and possibly 1000s of people. This is an obvious design flaw that causes the hinge design to cause stress on the display cable attached to the motherboard. I have called Lenovo support but because the warranty is past (of course) they cannot do anything. If this was a random issue it would make sense. But since this is a very common issue that warrants some form of recall I must share my frustration as the Yoga 730-13IKB Laptop (ideapad) - Type 81CT is othewise a fine computer. Join me in calling for an official response from Lenovo so that they will fix this problem that is clearly their fault. Thanks

I bought the Yoga 720 13IKB Type 81C3 - Model 81C3005LPG - last week to use it for photo edit and I noticied that the screen have strong yellowish tint.I tried to find a calibrated ICM (or ICC) color profile on the vga_drivers folder but could not find it.Also tried to use the windows 10 color calibration tool with no satisaftory results. I'm really disapointed and before start to tell the world on photo forums that this laptop is not suited to photo edit because of this super strong yellowish tint screen I decided to ask here if any members of the comunity or the Lenovo support team have any ICM color profile file that minimizes it.Note that this model have the BOE06FA panel and not the LG (like some USA models I believe). Thanks in advanceHugo Veríssimo

Hi there I've just got my first touch screen computer, a Yoga 710 14IKB and have noticed recently that it has started entering sleep mode if I touch the screen.  This doesn't happen always, if I'm using a downloaded app (often those designed for touch screens) it might not happen, but definitely happens whenever I'm using Chrome, most other programmes, and also whenever there are no programmes open. I've tried searching the forums but couldn't find any mention of this, but if its already been answered then please just point me to the appropriate thread. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Past few days, I have been using Ethernet connection fine. Suddenly, it is gone.In 'Control Panel' -> 'Network & Internet' -> 'Network Connection', there are 'Bluetooth Network Connection' and 'WiFi Connection' only. No Ethernet Adapter.Open the Device Manager, there are 'Qualcom Wireless', Bluetooth Device + 8 different WAN Miniports.I downloaded & installed Intel WLAN Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Yoga 920-13IKB, Yoga 920-13IKB  'fqy801af', no change.I switched the ethernet connection from the C Hub to another USB Hub with Ethernet port, no change.Swapped cables, swapped LAN ports, no change. Same cables and ports work fine with another laptop (6 years old).Hope that someone would give a helping hand. I've been struggling with it all day long and am giving up.Help, please. P.S. Got a couple days more to be able to return, with regret of course. Hope this can be fixed.

Hi there,  My Lenovo Yoga 710 IKB 15'' Laptop has had many problems. The fan was making noise and I started a topic here that was ridiculously marked solved when it wasn't, and now I have this new problem. For some reason, my screen has been blinking white (see attached pictures). Sometimes the white screen is blinking, sometimes it stays for a few seconds and other times it's not there at all but is clearly still an issue. I have already updated both the Intel and NVIDIA display drivers and when I run a scan I'm told there are no updates available. When I run a game or anything that requires the computer to switch to using the NVIDIA card, there is also a buzzing sound coming from the side of the computer, although this is not present when the Intel card is being used (the white screen appears no matter what I'm doing or which graphics card is being used).  I like this laptop but these are really too many problems. I bought this as a replacement for another laptop as I'm a student who really urgently needs to use a computer. Is lenovo going to fix this??

A:Lenovo Yoga 710 Screen turns white

I didn't see or respond to your first thread, but the temperatures (42C idle and 65C gaming) see normal.  85C or 90C is a high temperature under load but not temperatures in the 60's.  (Most CPUs, desktop or laptop, have thermal shutdown when a CPU hits about 105C.)  The thread said to contact support and gave you a support document to reference for fan noise.  Your fans would be running when your temperatures are in the 60's, but not at high speed.  Did you do that?  I didn't mark it solved, but if I read the questions and the response, I would have thought the issue was solved, although someone should have said that 65 was OK.  If you had posted back and support couldn't find the support document, that would have meant that it wasn't solved.

Regarding the white screen,  you are going to need to contact support for warranty repair.
