Random Chrome issues (Facebook)

Q: Random Chrome issues (Facebook)

Over the last few weeks, I've ran into problems with Facebook on Google Chrome. I've done quite a bit to try and figure out the loading issues. Basically, it's all random...I can jump right on the net and load Facebook, and five minutes later (browser still up), it won't load. OR, I can be off the computer for a while, get on and have trouble immediately...doesn't really matter. Nothing specific.

In the JavaScript console, I get errors...and they aren't always the same. Just now, I have a "failed to load resource" error, and while Facebook seems to have loaded my news feed, it's still trying to load SOMETHING. A few minutes back, it sat on a white screen, with "Uploading (0%)" in the left corner.

It's probably significant to note that my Facebook "share" buttons (on multiple sites) are giving me problems, randomly, as well as the Facebook comment boxes.

Just a few minutes ago, I wiped Chrome from my system, downloaded it again, and I'm still having these issues.

I've cleared cache, cookies, and everything in between.

In addition to this, I've re-registered a few DLL's (such as jscript), dropped the firewall, lowered every internet security settings, checked security exceptions in Chrome, disabled malware and anti-virus programs (didn't have any running in the first place), scanned with Malwarebytes...and still, it's there.

The puzzling thing: it all works fine on Firefox, and that's where I'm really stumped.

Please tell me I'm not the only one running into this problem.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This is very unlikely to be a malware issue so moved to web & email

I'm seeing a rather odd problem in Chrome on a work-managed machine. I suspect that some kind of GPO was pushed recently that is breaking Chrome's functionality, but I'm not sure of this at all. When I try to access certain websites, they either only partially load or fail completely. The Chrome Web Store fails. It loads most of the stuff the page requests but hangs at either googleads.g.doubleclick.net or google.com/uds. When trying to access Facebook, the site loads but then hangs trying to load a CSS file. While it's hanging, Flash crashes several times and it's not possible to click links, scroll, or do anything else. Additionally, I'm unable to even close the tabs that are hanging. Few websites actually work - most hang, even sites I've never visited before.Additionally, I use the "Chat for Google" plugin daily. This also fails to load correctly or log me in to Google talk.I've used a couple malware scanners to see if anything comes up - my machine appears to be clean. I don't have this issue in Firefox or Internet Explorer. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Chrome and wiped out my Chrome user profile to make sure it wasn't a bad extension or something. I've also manually uninstalled and reinstalled Flash.Edit: I also went through and disabled nearly every plugin for Chrome, including Adobe Flash 11 and Google's own built-in Flash player (PepperFlash). That fixed Facebook but not the Chrome store.

A:Chrome - cannot access Chrome Web Store, facebook, chat app, etc.

Do you use AdBlock? It was on the fritz this afternoon but seems to be OK now.

This just happen a couple a weeks ago. So, I was using Facebook like any other day, but for some reason when I tried to video-call a friend I got a pop-up window saying that I needed to install the plug-in, but I already had it installed. I closed Chrome and open Firefox, and the video-chat WORKED, but just yesterday same thing happen with Firefox.

So I clear all the cache, uninstalled Facebook video-chat plug-in, re-installed it, updated java and flash, but the problem remains.

Anyone having this problem? Please help!

Hello all - I have an issue browsing Facebook on my Google Chrome browser only. Occasionally, when I attempt to go to Facebook, I get the error that I posted below. (sorry the edge is cut off) This error only comes up for maybe 10-30 seconds. Facebook is quite slow on Chrome, and rarely allows me to watch more than the first 10 or so seconds of a video. The chat will show people on the right, but as soon as I hover over the names they disappear. Lots of other strange quirks I can't even explain. Same exact links, etc, work if I view them on IE or Firefox, and they work for my wife on Firefox. It seems to be specific to Chrome only. I'm completely lost on even where to start. Any thoughts?!

Hi,

I've just got my new laptop with windows 7 64bit and installed chrome.

Tried to login to facebook and got through to the checkpoint screen. After typing in a device name and clicking save device I was taken back to the main login page. Everytime I try to login it just refreshes the login page.

I've checked the settings and cookies are allowed. If I clear the cache it works through to the checkpoint screen again then falls into the same loop.

IE works fine. The problem is just chrome which is really annoying as I much prefer using it.

Guys please help every time I try to access facebook on google chrome it keeps redirecting and gives an error "Facebook has redirected you too many times" and I have to delete my cookies every time just to access facebook which is annoying becuase before this never happens and I don't know what cause it or how to fix it.

I tried...
-Deleting cookies and cache but this is just a temporary fix and I have to do it again every time I access facebook
-Same thing happens on Incognito mode
-I have scanned my computer with Avira Antivirus, CC Cleaner and also using sfc/scannow using command prompt and it comes out no virus was found and no errors
-My antivirus and plug-ins are the same and facebook works fine before even with plug-ins that I have now and my antivirus enabled so I'm sure that's not what's causing it.
-My Google Chrome browser is also updated
-I also tried reinstalling Google Chrome as well it still didn't work
-I tried accessing other websites and all we're accessible without any problems only facebook was experiencing this issue
- I also don't want to delete my google user profile for I will lost all my important files or use system restore for I will also lost all my applications that I just installed that's something I can't do if you have any other alternative fix rather than this two that would be great.

Up until a couple days ago, Facebook was working fine on Chrome (I haven't changed or added anything). Then I noticed lots of funky little problems with Facebook a day or two ago.

For one, I'm unable to comment on posts, because normally, you just write your comment and press "Enter", and that posts it. But now, when I press "Enter", it just takes me down a line in my post (like it would when typing text anywhere else). With no other buttons, it's impossible to submit a post.

Additionally, there's a little drop down menu next to every post that allows you to hide or delete them. When I click the drop down menu button, it highlights (like it has something dropped down), but there's no drop down menu. The same thing happens when I have notifications in the top left part of the screen; it highlights (and removes the notification counter), but nothing drops down.

Also, if I click the "v" button in the top right corner to Log Out, it immediately directs me to the Account Settings (which is the first option in that "v" drop down menu).

Any ideas what the heck happened? If I go on Firefox, Facebook works just fine. All of a sudden, it's not playing well with Chrome, though. Did Chrome/ Facebook recently do an update, and it's still out of whack, or something?

So for the past few hours, without any discernable reason, Facebook has stopped working on my Chrome browser. It fails to open, giving me an error page instead.

The site works on other browsers and also on other computers connected to the network, just not the main computer.

I have so far tried the following fixes:

1) Restarting my computer.
2) Clearing all cookies, temporary files and caches.
3) Resetting Chrome to its default settings.
4) Resetting my Hosts file.
5) Disabling all Chrome extensions.

In most cases, what will happen is after applying a fix, I'm able access the main page of Facebook, but the moment I try to click on any other pages (for example, the groups page, or messenger) it will break again, and I'll no longer be able to access any pages, including the main page.

This issue is very recent (last few hours) and I have no idea what's caused it.

Hope somebody can help me out with this, thanks.

A:Facebook stops working on Chrome

It might just be an anomaly. See if it changes in the next few hours. You can also do a System Restore to a time before this happened.
Other then that, you may be infected. Please click on the link in my signature for Virus/Malware Help and do those things and post in that section of the forum and not here.

My friend's computer has a major problem accessing Facebook and Dropbox on her Chrome browser. Every time she accesses the website the whole screen turns black and freezes which requires a forced restart to get out of it. I had uninstalled chrome in one instance and it wouldn't let me re-install it until I went into Safe Mode. Whilst in Safe Mode, the two sites and AVG would open however a 0xC0000005 error would occur when exiting from Safe Mode.

Some virus scans were run and nothing was found. To add to it, the AVG says it is running in the taskbar when re-installed but clicking the icon does nothing.

I have tried the following:
1) Running a virus scan with Malwarebytes
2) Ran sfc /scannow and no problems were found
3) Removed third-party and bloatware programs
4) Uninstalled Mcafee, Norton, Malwarebytes and AVG virus scanners
5) Couldn't find any System Restore Points to revert to.

I would appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions.

I have uninstalled google chrome and then tried re-installing it however it wouldn't let me download it again until I installed Chrome through a clean safe boot.

Also another problem persists in that the AVG Cloudware we use shows it is running in the background but the program will not open at all.

What other possible solutions do you guys have? I am running out of ideas.

Very annoying. Other browsers run smoothly, but I am a dedicated Chrome user. Hope there is a patch or something soon.

seen recently, as part of a Google Chrome extension's JavaScript files. when users install the Chrome extension in their browser, it waits for the victim to visit Facebook.

BPlug spams your friends via user groups and Facebook mentions

BPlug will hide some of the user's top-right menu options, preventing them from accessing the logout menu, but it will also create a randomly named group in the user's name. see here for more:

Hey guys, been having an issue with Facebook on google chrome the past 3 days. It's unusable.

Very slow loading, constant "spinning" loading icon and when it finally does semi-load (30 mins - 1 hour) the entire layout is all screwed up and interacting with the website causes it to get stuck loading.

Have tried:
Clearing cache+everything else via google chrome settings.
Disabling all extensions, and then doing the above.
Installing Click&Clean and running that programs cleaner.
Running Advanced Systemcare 8 and CCleaner.
Rebooting 500 times.
Checking for chrome updates (None)
Reinstalling Chrome
Nothing fixes it. Every website is running perfectly fine, except Facebook.

Any more ideas? Thanks.

TTT, it's off the first page. Don't want it to get lost. I did want to add I removed another virus with Avast last night. Don't think it was affecting these BSOD's though.

Just curious..I`d tryed to figure out why my Adobe shockwave keeps crashing on a couple of Zynga games on FB and not the others.I`d did a Ccleaner,Hp and Windows update.Deleted, all cookies, cache, temp,Task manager on my Win 7..not much there..trying to find out the cause.I`m useing Chrome and disable it`s plugins.the only thing active is the adobe,Not the chrome 2 file.but I did what I could..I was wondering..?

Could the crashes on FB games be caused by my 1-mbps speed ?
cause I`ve been crashing like every 10 mins on FB.

Hello. I am new here and am daunted by all the technical jargon you all so brilliantly use, so please be patient.

I have a Lenovo Laptop and am using Windows version 8.1 (this is where my knowledge of computers ends).

I need my Facebook account for work to promote my buisness and it isn't working anymore! It was working previously and has now stopped, I do not know why.

When I type www.facebook.com in the address bar of firefox, it just presents me with a page of indecipheral script (see photo above).

I tried to access it using Google Chrome, which worked for a while but now does not function correctly; although it allows me to log on, some of my contacts who happen to be online in the right hand column are showing as grey blanks and when I try to read my notifications, the little wheel (no idea what that is called) just turns and turns and nothing happens. I can read the newsfeed but I cannot post. It also will not allow me to log out so I have to open Facebook on my mobile and logout remotely from there. So annoying!

This is only a problem on my laptop as I can access Facebook from my mobile phone, as already mentioned, but that's a pain, I want to use my laptop!

Please can anyone help. I've read that I could disable add-ons but I don't have any on Firefox. I have plug-ins but I have no idea which ones I need and which ones I do not! I'm really stuck.

Thank you in advance.

Aurore

Hello Everyone I am new to computers and I had created a shortcut that opened up my StumbleUpon page directly in Chrome which allowed me to create bookmarks. I had to run CC Cleaner and also had to remove an unwanted Ask Toolbar. I tried several things to remove the toolbar that were recommended online but the only one that worked was installing Revo uninstaller. I couldn't get the original page back on internet explorer browser and so I ran Windows Fixit. When this was taking forever and seemed to hang up, I just restarted. When I restarted my shortcut that opened directly in Chrome was an explorer shortcut on the desktop and would not open the site in Chrome where I could do the bookmarking. I researched the ways to create the shortcut. I tried to drag the url to the desktop from Chrome but it would only come up as a explorer shortcut. I tried to go to tools and create an application shortcut but this would not get the Chrome circle that allows me to open directly in Chrome. How do I get the shortcut to be, I guess I would call it a Chrome shortcut that has the Chrome emblem as that one opens the pages directly in Chrome and allow bookmarking of selections. This has had me pulling my hair out as I could find no solution. I would appreciate it if someone might have a suggestion other than the ones I have tried. I know Chrome has problems sometimes and I think it has something to do with my browser history being erased or some setting that has been changed as a result of... Read more

Hi,

I am facing a very weird issue. facebook.com wont work in Chrome, Windows 7 64 bit but all other websites are working just fine.

Chrome says:

This webpage is not available

Reload Less
Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.facebook.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
Check your Internet connection
Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.
Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server...
Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect "Use a proxy server for your LAN".
Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
Have reset the wireless adapter.
Restarted the PC.

Hello, thank you for reading For about 5 days now I have not been able to get to facebook at all. It keeps saying:

Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.facebook.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.

A:At wits end with google chrome and facebook videos

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

I was under the impression that Chrome had Flash built in - no need to download anything for it.

Uninstall all versions of Flash that you see in programs and features and then restart the computer.

For 32bit IE, install 32bit Flash - open IE and visit here...
Adobe - Flash Player
...to make sure that you have no versions of Flash showing.
You can then install Flash from links on that page.

Do the same for Firefox - open Firefox and visit that same website.

I have finally had it up to here with the BSODs, so I really need help. I ran a windows memtest and it detected no errors. I just finished updating to SP1 with pretty much most updates too. The BSODs I get the most are:

Driver IRQL not less or Equal
System Service Exception

and these two I just got before I decided to post:
Interrupt Exception Not Handled
No More IRP Stack Locations

I recently took this desktop back from my brother. I bought a new harddrive and installed a fresh Windows 7 x64 Home Prem. on it. I have two other HDD's connected too, a 1TB and a 500gb. I built this originally (and I had no problems when I built it) back in 09. System Specs are included. I replaced the RAM too. I know it isn't on the Approved List for my mobo, but nothing on the mobo lists 8GB and I'd like to use 8GB.

My parts are:

Asus P5P43TD Mobo
Core 2 Duo 8400 Wolfdale
(2x4gb GSKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL)
XFX Radeon HD4890 (but i hadn't noticed, but radeon now only sets out drivers for the entire series, 4XXX, etc.)
Sunbeam (Ithink) 780w psu

I'm not in the market to buy a new performance pc (although the parts I have my eye on are roughly 1400)

Please lmk what you think I should do.
