Lenovo Yoga All-In-One Touch Display is No Longer Working

Q: Lenovo Yoga All-In-One Touch Display is No Longer Working

I have a Lenovo Yoga 720-121KB Laptop (ideapad) that has worked great in switching between laptop-keyboard to the tablet-mode. However I can no longer utilize the tablet-mode as the touch screen is no longer working. A year or so ago I had a similar problem and the fix was to install a BIOS/Driver change and it started working again. I have install all the latest Bios, drivers, patches, Windows10 updates from the Lenovo web site. Still broken. What do I need to do to get this touch screen working again?Thank you,Darwin

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

My touch screen has been working fine however the touch screen is no longer working in either the laptop mode or the tablet mode, which of course makes the tablet completely unusable.  I do have the auto install set for upgrades.  I have searched the Forum and the Google web for possible solutions but nothing seems to work.  I have run the "Lenovo Check System for updates" but get a message that the lastest drivers are installed.  Here are my System specs -   System SKU:  LENOVO_MT_81B5_BU_idea_FM_YOGA 720-121KB   BOIS Version/Date:  LENOVO 5GCN29WW, 11/1/2018   SMBIOS Version:  3.0   Embedded Controller Version:  1.24   BIOS Mode: UEFI   OS Name: Microsoft Wiindows 10 Home   Version: 10.0.17134 Build 17134 Need advise to get this working again.

ISSUEThe 720 touchpad and touchscreen are the worst.  This issue started out of the box before I had even gone on line.  When the touchpad does work, the right click/left click distinction doesn't work and I have to use the screen, when it's working, for the long hold until the right click options appear. When the screen is working, the ability to close a window and touching it just the right way is dubious at best.  I've tried modifying sensitivity, etc, in the control panel, but there is no difference.   When both window and touchpad stop functioning, I plug in an old HP mouse I have, but when I'm mobile, this means running the mouse down my leg if I don't have a surface to place my laptop upon.  And it also means carrying a mouse with me everywhere I go.  My line of work is often standing and walking with clients so  not really possible in my line of work.   RETURN/REPAIR OPTIONS AREN'T OFFERED OR ARE NOT PRACTICALTo back up a bit, I attempted to return this to BestBuy, but was four days beyond the allowable return date.  I contacted Lenovo, but it's all about mailing it in or turning the laptop over and being without anything for a few days.  Hard to find those few days.  I've tried to live it, but it's been an enormous killer of productivity, not to mention incredible frustration and some embarrsassing typos.    PAST YOGA BUILD WAS GREAT - WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE 720?My last Yoga 710 wa... My recently purchased X1 Yoga touch screen has stopped working. Things I've tried to so far: Updating all drivers for BIOS and other devicesDisabling and re-enabling the touchscreen device and Wacom HID device in Device ManagerUninstalling touch screen device and Wacom HID Device in Device ManagerUnchecking "allow computer to turn off this device to save power"Reboot from safe modeRestore Windows to factory defaultFor clarifications the pen is working just fine.  I was able to get the touchscreen back for awhile by uninstalling the Wacom device in Device Manager and rebooting. That fix doesn't work anymore. I'm really frustrated by this - not even restoring windows to factory default fixes the problem. I've looked online for many hours on this issue and pretty much tried everything suggested. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I've had a happy first year with this machine. A few days ago it all went south.  No USB mouse (is a Lenovo Wireless USB dongle thing). No Touch on the display. The Lenovo Monitor that I use it with is a touch display and the touch on that is also stopped. In device manager I see this: I've tried all the usual stuff like deleting all the bad marked devices in the device manager and restarting and nothing works. I've ran all the latest Lenovo driver updates and that makes no difference. I've tried a hard wired mouse, but that comes up in device manager as bad. They all show: The drivers for this device are not installed. Hi. Touch screen on my device is working from time to time. Mostly not working at all. It stops working after suspend/reboot. I can't understand what makes it work again. Sometimes you suspend/reboot again and it starts working, sometimes its not. The reason of this is I2C HID Device with status "This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed." which is shown in Device Manager. When it doesn't have yellow warning icon - touch is working. What I tried: Windows Troubleshooter. It reinstalls driver. Doesn't help.Remove driver in Device Manager. Doesn't help. It restores automatically.Disable/Enable device. No luck.Install latest Lenovo updates (including BIOS, V.2JCN36WW) via Lenovo Companion. No luck.Install Windows updates. No luck. BTW, Creators update installed.Suspend/Restart. Helps in very rare cases around 1 of 10.

I bought my Yoga 530 less than a year ago.It used to work fine but every now and then a wild windows update appears and I lose the touch screen function. I have to go to a previous update every time to recover it, I've found no other way to solve it.This morning another update came in and as usual, I lost the touch screen. I tried to recover it, but it failed in the process so I've been forced to do a full recovery. After that, the touch screen is still not working. I tried to disable/enable the driver. There is no driver. I tried to update the laptop and the drivers via lenovo vantage, apparently it's perfectly updated. I tried with the web and the LSB. Nothing. I tried to reboot in safe mode. More nothing. After all my struggle I tried a factory reset. And still nothing. Basically it says that the screen is incompatible with the touch mode and the stylo which obviously isn't true.I've quite literaly tried every single solution I've found in the forums and I still have no real answer. The only thing remaining is to ask for a replacement.

Hello my name is Santiago. Today I tried to update my drivers using a third party software named "Driver Booster". As soon as I restarted my laptop I could notice that the touchpad was not working. As i didnīt create a restore point I restarted my computer back to factory settings in order to get rid of the drivers. But when the restart finished, the touchpad did not work either. I tried to look for touchpad drivers in the driver page of my computer but could not find any, in my settings I looked for touchpad and is nowhere to be seen, when I go to the hardware section of the mouse settings the box to enable touch pad isnt either, and lastly in my device manager in the sector of mouse & other pointing devices I can only see the driver of the Lenovo Pen Device. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? Because I already ran of options that I found on the internet. Thanks For Your Time.

I have a Yoga 11s Laptop (ideapad) with windows 8.1, bought it 3 years ago, and the touch screen hasn't workedfor about two week. I've installed touchpad drivers, and refreshed the computer. Installing the drivers did nothing, and the touch screen worked after the refresh until I flipped the screen to use it in stand mode.  Thoughts? Will a factory reset make a difference?  I really need the touch screen for the work I do, and I can't send it out for repairs.

After a launch of updates including the BIOS update from Lenovo Vantage, my touch screen stopping working all of a sudden, as the screen does not react to the pen. When going in tablet mode, the mouse cursor does not dissapear and the screen still does not work. I restarted the laptop a few times but the problem continues to persist. When I went to touch screen & pen info, it said that "no pen or touch screen display is available for this display." It never said this before and I still have Windows Ink available. This is the best laptop that I got for college until this happened, and I am hoping that Lenovo and/or Microsoft comes up with a fix quickly as possible. I really need help with this becuase I just got this laptop and I don't wanna think that $1099 was a waste of money. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Finger touch and pen seem related, but they are handled separately.  It could be a hardware problem.  Do you have warranty remaining?

Hello, This is my first time posting, so please bear with me. A few days ago, the touch screen completely stopped working. I am also unable to rotate the screen. Navigating to the Device Manager, I see three I2C HID Device drivers, but one of them has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. When I click on it, I see the error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed." Disabling it does nothing, neither does uninstalling it - when they are reenabled or reinstalled, the error persists. There are no drivers that can be updated, and there is no way to roll back to a previous driver as I never updated these due to there being no problems. I assume this is a hardware issue, but I am not sure how to verify this or if there is anything else that can be done.  I have had quite a few problems with this machine, sending it out twice for the same problem and having the same problem occur for the third time (the power button does not work), but I am hoping this is something that is fixable.  Thanks!

I bought this Lenovo Yoga 900 Orange on Arpil 8 2016. Today is June 8 2016, I have to make this post.  I was in the meeting yesterday and taking note on MS words. And that was the only program that I opened at that time. Suddenly, the screen turn pitch black on me. I thought that it was the display driver again. Yet this time it stopped for at least 15 minutes, and I had to switch to pen and paper to take note of the meeting. During that time, I try to restart the computer by hitting the power button. Until the third time, the screen was coming back to me. This is very awful.  I bought this machine and heard the rumor that its display driver is not good. But I DO NOT expect it to be that bad. Before the major incident above, the driver did stop 3 times in the past, but it restarted within second. I did a little research and knew that other users had to deal with that too. So I thought that once in a while the screen will die for several seconds, and it was ok with me.  Yesterday, during my meeting, stop more than 15 minutes. Unbelievable!!!.  I want to return the product. Please guide me through this process. If I have to pay the 15% fee, I will do it.

Yoga Pro 3 1370 This is an old laptop that I've had laying around. The battery went dead a few years ago and I chose to upgrade. I recently decided to sell it so I purchased a new battery. Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40°. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. I had no luck trying driver versions 7.3.3.12, 7.3.4.8 and 7.3.4.13. I would really appreciate your help since this issue makes working in the tablet position... Read more
