MS Patch Tuesday, June 2010 - 16 Updates

Q: MS Patch Tuesday, June 2010 - 16 Updates

MS Patch Tuesday for June 2010, has the largest number of Windows Vista and associated Updates I have ever seen in one hit......16 in all!!

Get ready for the raft of problems that some folks will no doubt have, in completing a successful download of all this lot.

Preferred Solution: MS Patch Tuesday, June 2010 - 16 Updates

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

OK, so after getting spooked by the "hidden agenda" of a series of recent 7 updates that apparently track your computing habits and install Windows 10 nagware, I uninstalled all the updates on my computer and have decided to start from scratch.

I just got a notice about a series of updates coming in on "Patch Tuesday" (9 June) of this month. I've looked up some of them and they seem to be somewhat important (I hid all the "recommended" ones which were nothing more than Windows 10 crap), but I'm curious to know what exactly do they "patch" or otherwise do, and how do they do it.

In layman's terms.

Microsoft's security bulletins are too technical for my understanding and I want to make sure I'm not installing adware, nagware, spyware -- or upgradeware.

The updates are:
KB3058515, Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (and which has apparently had some problems)
KB3033890, Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (apparently something to do with Windows Media Player)
KB3057839, Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems
KB3059317, Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems
KB3063858, Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems
The last one is just MRT (KB890830) which I know to be safe.

For the first two, do I need to install them if I never use IE or WMP? I actually have them "turned off" (inaccessible) in Programs & Features. Should ... Read more

A:June 2015 Patch Tuesday updates: What do they do?

I installed them all including 11 or 12 for MS Office products. The only problem I had was with Word on the first use after the updates. For some reason, it reset Add-in security and I had to OK one that I have but don't use often. (PDF generator)

So far no problems from the updates.
Everything running smoothly.

According to the Microsoft Security Response Center, Microsoft will issue a single Security Bulletin on Tuesday, and it will host a webcast to address customer questions about the bulletins the following day (January 13 at 11:00am PST, if you're interested). The vulnerability is rated "Critical" and it earned the rating through a remote code execution impact, meaning a hacker could potentially gain control of an infected machine. The single patch may require a restart.

Here's my post - after I installed all the Windows updates on 2/13, we starting getting intermittent freezing of the applications and operating system (Windows 7 32 bit). After a while, trying to open an application returns "not enough system resources to complete the requested operation." IE, etc. I also cannot shut down the computer. Once I do a hard re-start, it all comes back until it locks up again. I increased the virtual memory capacity. System restore fails each time after the updates on 2/13.

Any suggestions would be great!

thanks so much!

I've noticed users having installed the June updates cannot open certain attachments. They are automatically blocked by outlook 2010. So far I've seen .pdf and .docx blocked and the only common factor is the length of the name (so long they were truncated and have the "....docx" at the end). Users who haven't installed the updates yet can access the attachments without any problem.
Level1Remove in the registry doesn't work.
Has anyone else encounter this issue? And does anyone know how to fix it?

A:Outlook 2010 blocked long filename attachments since June patch

Hi G,
Exactly the same here, still looking for a fix. I tried the Level1Remove in the registry doesn't work with no luck.
In addition to not being able to open attachments our users can't send them. The only temp fix I have is to shorted the file names to just a few characters.
Second time this Month MS has caused problems with updates.

I've been trying to get my system back up for the past 2 days with no success and I'm at my wits end. I can't do a clean install as there is data i still need and can't get pulled from the other install i did to get in.

This happened right after i completed the new updates from either June 11th or June 12, i don't remember what they were. but after i restarted the computer as it told me it would load all the way up to the windows start up and then crash before it got to the log in screen and gives me the blue screen of death.

this is what i get.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0X00000050 (0XFFFFF98803768020, 0X0000000000000000, 0XFFFFF800012545F5, 0X0000000000000005)

From what i gathered from Microsoft and some other forums its a faulty driver with either ram or the graphics card. On the other install i did i can get in just fine but my original install no matter what mode i go into i get this exact same stop code.

Help me please.

I've found: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4558998 which I *think* is the July patch Tuesday update for WIndows Server 2019 (long term support channel).
1. Is there any way to confirm which KB is the "patch Tuesday"?
2. Why doesn't the above link, list all of the fixed KBs that have been rolled into it?
I did find this site: https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-US/security-guidance/advisory/CVE-2020-1350
3. For example, for CVE-2020-1350, it does list 4558998 in the Security Updates table at the bottom. Does this imply CVE-2020-1350 is fixed by applying 4558998? But again, why isn't there just one page for 4558998 which lists all addressed CVEs?
My overall goal here is to be able to have a definitive list of cumulative updates and know exactly what is included in them.

Dear Experts,

I have few queries :
> i have been pacthing IE on win 2012 R2 servers from Oct 2017 and the latest deployed pacth is April 2018 roll out. but when i scan these server by Vulnerability scanners- it detects  june 2017 IE patch missing(which i know was never deplyed as
i started patching from Oct 2017 ) and i believe this June 2017 IE patch requires below registry key to be present , which they are not :
The following registry key is missing.
This registry key is required to enable the fix for CVE-2017-8529:
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PRINT_INFO_DISCLOSURE_FIX\iexplore.exe
SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ENABLE_PRINT_INFO_DISCLOSURE_FIX\iexplore.exe
My Query is -
Does the installation of the superseding patch adds/updates the registry keys required for the patch it supersedes. In this case should  the successfull installation of April 2018 IE patch be adding these registry keys required for June 2017 IE patch.
if not  is there any documentation related to this ?

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

Today is Patch Tuesday, which means that it's that time of the month when Microsoft updates all versions of Windows 10. In total, there are six separate cumulative updates for the OS, as phones on version 1709 are on a different branch than PCs now.

PCs on the Fall Creators Update will see KB4048955, or build 16299.64. You can manually download it here, and it includes the following fixes:

Addressed issue that causes the Mixed Reality Portal to stop responding on launch.
Addressed issue that causes a black screen to appear when you switch between windowed and full-screen modes when playing some Microsoft DirectX games.
Addressed a compatibility issue that occurs when you play back a Game DVR PC recording using Android or iOS devices.

Addressed issue to ensure that certain USB devices and head-mounted displays (HMD) are enumerated properly after the system wakes up from Connected Standby.
Addressed issue where the virtual smart card doesn't assess the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) vulnerability correctly.

I am inquiring if any members have experienced this, I ran these updates from 7:55pm to 8:22pm EDT this evening 10-10-12.

I have Windows set to check, but let me decide.

For my particular setup I received 14 updates:
Four for Security.
Nine for a general update.
One for the Malicious Software Removal Tool.

The four started to download then stopped, and restarted the download.
The installation went okay.

The nine did the same thing, except for the installation phase. It stopped, re-started the download then restarted the installation twice.
After the second installation phase it concluded successfully.

When I clicked OK on the one to start its download it went right to installation.

As an afterthought I forced a check for any more updates, and a MSE showed up. With my fios (25/10) it took over a minute for 238KB, went to install, and that took longer than usual.

All updates showed they installed successfully.

Our machine seems to be running okay, and all other web-sites that are visited snap to completion.

Could this be a situation on MS's update server, our machine, our ISP?
As an aside, before these 14 showed up I was notified that I had a Silverlight update. it was the same one I hid several months ago. When I tried to hide it again it cleared my check-mark, and reverted to the original notification.
I did this twice.

I finally closed then re-opened Windows Update in Control Panel, and all was normal with the update in question hidden. Another MS update server g... Read more

Just in case it helps anyone else.

I have all my PC's & Laptop set to Auto update, and I take all patches.

Normally I have no problems at all.

This last Patch Tuesday I did my main computer (AMD 64bit) and it failed so I had to use the Windows 8 repair facility it then worked fine.

I then did my wifes laptop no problems at all.

I did my MediaPC (Intel core 2 32bit) and that was a mess so it had to be rebuilt. one possible problem was this PC is only switched on when I want to watch something from the WEB on the TV. so its updates may have bunched up. When it got into the updates I left it overnight and it was still going in the morning (I think waiting for something, the HDD heartbeat flashing once a second) thinking it must be in a deadly embrace I restarted expecting to have to repair, but did not get the option.

In the end I had to do a complete rebuild, then update.

It works fine again now but it cost me 2-3 days, which these days is not acceptable.

I was NOT given the option to restore nor any other simple method...!

It's Wednesday morning here. I spent last night in Vista after installing Windows Update packages.
This morning I've been trying to boot in W7 (7057) and I keep getting a BSOD.
On my first attempt everything seemed fine but I got a restart to load security patch message from Kaspersky so I clicked restart now.
Since then I've had BSODs every time (about 8 attempts)
I've tried Safe Mode but can't find what's wrong other than superfetch and security center are not starting (?)
I have EVGA precision running at startup and it seems to get to the point where that would normally request permission and crash.
In other words it gets past the Welcome screen, I see my wallpaper and then BSOD.
Could it be the Windows Updates I installed last night?
It's been working like a dream before that.
Any help would be appreciated, John
