ActiveMovie Window:explorer.exe - application error!

Q: ActiveMovie Window:explorer.exe - application error!

Ladies or gentlemen, I am hoping you can help me with this problem. Most recently, I've been getting this error message on my desktop as follows:

ActiveMovie Window:explorer.exe - application error
The instruction at "0x04d2321f" referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be "written".

What does this error mean and how can I get rid of it? Thank you so much for your assistance.

I am using Windows XP computer by the way.

Preferred Solution: ActiveMovie Window:explorer.exe - application error!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I suppose it's all because of installed video codecs.
If you have so much different ones - try to remove all of them and install all-in-one codec.

Recently whenever I open any movie in Windows Media Player 10, I get this little window that opens up seperately from WMP that is titled "ActiveMovie Window"

This isn't too annoying but the fact that I cannot resize this window without freezing up the movie is....

No matter if I try to make this "ActiveMovie Window" fullscreen, maximized, or drag it a little larger it freezes the movie, how the hell do I get rid of this ActiveWindow thing?

The only recent change I made to my system was installing ATI 5.3 Drivers, but I removed those using the full uninstall utlity and reinstalled the previous drivers....but that did not fix my issue.

A:ActiveMovie Window

I had the same problem, this fixed it for me:

in Media Player go to TOOLS-OPTIONS-PERFORMANCE-ADVANCED- under video Acceleration select Use Overlays rather than Use High Quality.
Hope that helps.

Heya, i need some help. I have no idea what this error is about or what brought it about but was wondering if maybe someone had a clue and could help me out. The error appears sometimes while i am playing World of Warcraft Beta, sometimes when I am running my music player, sometimes just when i start up AIM. The error reads:

Error label: ActiveMovie Window: aim.exe - Bad image

The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\wt\webdriver\4.1.1\wtwmplug.ax is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

I have tried putting in my Windows XP and repairing but that seemed not to work because I continue to get the error message. If anyone can help i would be very grateful, thanks so much

Should I just ignore it and maybe it will eventually go away like other windows I got in the past that were identical but had different numbers? Thanks.

Hi

I was trying to install ccleaner in my laptop and in the middle of the process a popup window appears saying "AXWIN Frame Window: ccsetup318.exe - Application Error". I've read in some forums that this could be a malware issue. Below are details about my laptop;

Dell Inspiron 2200
Windows XP

Also, I've also attempted to install flash player. When I double click the downloaded file, it doesn't do anything. Does not confirm if the installation was successful or not. Also, I've noticed that the installer I've recently downloaded from Adobe was automatically deleted.

Thanks!

Hi, this just happened yesterday and I have been searching the net for a solution ever since. By the way, my Dell system automatically performed a Windows update on shut down last night so that may be relevent.
The problem is that every time I close a window in explorer I get the following message: "The instruction at 0x01f5b80 referenced memory at 0x018ead58. the memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate the program."

I've ran Norton anti-virus, as-aware, spy bot and Windows beta anti-spyware.
I've also re-installed IE from the xp disk. But nothing has worked. I've included a hijack this log and I really would appreciate any help! Thanks.

A:Solved: IE Application error when I close a window

For other's info, I've managed to fix the problem.
I clicked on the tools menu of internet explorer and selected 'internet options', then 'programs'. Then clicked 'manage add ons' and selected 'add ons currently loaded in internet explorer.' Then disabled each program one at a time and tested if the problem occurred (remember that you have to close IE first and then restart.)
Turned out the source was 'solid converter pdf' (a free program from a computer mag) which translates pdf files into rtf or doc for editing.
However, this program has sat quite happily for two months so don't know why it suddenly started causing a problem.
Anyway, everything is now rosy in freddyfeet's computer garden (until next time!)

I've searched the web for authoritative treatment of this subject and found nothing other than the sledge hammer approach of doing a clean install. I have a Lenovo 0468-05U which translates into a 3000' N100. It was having a strange problem of the desktop freezing (meaning accepting no input) whenever automatic updates were enabled. This problem was solved by clearing the updates cache and running "sfc /scannow". But immediately afterwards I noticed that chkdsk would not run at startup when requested, and that when requested the system got a BSOD c0000145 Application Error on every other boot.

I've run memory diagnostics; all OK.
I,ve scanned for viruses - Avast Free, Adware Free, Malware Bytes Free - Nothing but cookies.
I've run chkdsk /r from the recovery console. - does not fix the problem.

Seems clear I have a relatively simple problem of misconfigufred startup, chkdsk, or disk boot files, and I wish to affect a non-format repair. Can anyone assist with this?

Ok mashenden lets pick up where we left off.If you are are using a CD Emulator (Daemon Tools, Alchohol 120%, Astroburn, AnyDVD) be aware that they use hidden drivers with rootkit-like techniques to hide from other applications. When dealing with a malware infection, CD Emulators can interfere with investigative tools producing misleading or inaccurate scan results, false detection of legitimate files, cause unexpected crashes, BSODs, and general 'dross' which often makes it hard to differentiate between malicious rootkits and the legitimate drivers used by CM Emulators. Since CD Emulators use a hidden driver which can be seen as a rootkit and can interfere with investigative tools or cause other problems, it is recommended that they be removed or disabled until disinfection is completed. Please download DeFogger by jpshortstuff and save it to your desktop.Double click DeFoggerexe to run the tool. The application window will appear.Click the Disable button to disable your CD Emulation driversClick Yes to continue.A 'Finished!' message will appear.Click OK...DeFogger will now ask to reboot the machine...click OK. If not, reboot manually.Do not re-enable these drivers until instructed or your system has been cleaned.IMPORTANT! If you receive an error message while running DeFogger, please post the log defogger_disable which will appear on your desktop. Please download ComboFix from one of these locations and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!Note: If you download... First may I say thank you, to all of you for what you do. I think this is honorable and speaks volumes of your personal character for you to take your personal time to help individuals like myself. I received a pop-up stating that I had all types of infections on my laptop. I immediately used my MALWAREbytes Antimaleware (free version) program to run a scan. Nothing detected. Then I ram my AVG (free version) Anti-Virus program and it also detected nothing. Then I ran the Spybot Search & Destroy (free version) and it also detected nothing. After seeing the pop-up of the ISO2010 repeatedly, I went to google to search for a removal method and noticed that I was being redirected. I would get the opportunity to see the appropriate links, but once I clicked on those links, I was taken to a similar site sometimes, and other times I was taken to a completely different site. However, I noticed that if I clicked on the link within google's search engine, usually about the 3rd or 4th time on the same link, I would be then connected to the appropriate site. One site did share with me how to remove the ISO2010 program by going into the files section and just deleting that file and 3-4 other files named ISO2010. That all worked fine until a day or two later I received this svchost.exe - Application Error. This error will stay on the desktop until I click on the only two options it provides you, but no matter which one you click on, it starts an automatic shut down/restart of my lap... Read more

I cannot get past the Application Error 501 screen on my HP Elitebook 8760w. I have tried many of the suggestions and they do not work. The solutions using the key combinations and f10 key don't do anything. I originally activated the HP Quicklook and now I get the error. I think I need to download something to a USB drive and boot with that, but I cannot find anything for Windows 10. Can anyone suggest a solution?

I am having a problem with the following error:

AXWIN Frame Window: svchost.exe - Application Error, etc.
Generic Host Process for Win 32 Services, Windows has closed this program. Data Execution Prevention etc.
System by NT/Authority/System DCOM Server Process, etc.

Then the PC begins to shutdown. I have been able to stop the shutdown by using Run Shutdown -a.

Other symptoms earlier included not being able to do an Alt/Ctrl/Del, followed by an hourglass. In the lower right I could see that Task Manager had opened but there was no way to get it on the screen to review/stop processes. End result - a hard reboot was needed to go further.

System restores even back to the initial restore point (which was only about 4 months ago) have not been successful.

I am to the point of wanting to run combofix (I have never done this before) but the warnings seemed very clear that I should post and get help first.

Thank you in advance.

A:AXWIN Frame Window: svchost.exe - Application Error

Using Norton, I disabled svchost and all is good (with the huge exception being I cannot get out to the Interent), but the PC is not autoshutting down or getting hung up with the hour glass and Alt/Ctrl/Del always works. Point being, it must be some rogue program that is using svchost to send info over the internet as well as rendering my PC undable to exit without a firm reboot.

Norton, Defender, Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyWare have not removed this problem.

Any ideas? Can someone help me use ComboFix?

Hello, starting about a week or so ago, a few minutes after I start up my computer (a Dell Inspiron E1705 running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3) a window pops up with the title: "AXWIN Frame Window: svchost.exe - Application Error." In the box is written:

"The instruction at "0x02b5f7a0" referenced memory at "0x02b5f7a0". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

As time goes by, more and more of these windows appear. They remain on top of all other windows and, usually, if either the OK or the Cancel button is pushed a warning window appears telling me my computer will restart in a minute, which it does. Also, by unknown causes, my hard drive is filling up. There wasn't much room to begin with, but up to several Gigs will fill up seemingly without cause. Other than this, the computer seems to work fine--I can move the error window to the side and continue to use it. I don't know if these problems are caused by malware or not. Help would be greatly appreciated. Rygy

"The intsruction at '0x010ef7ao' referenced memory at '0x010ef7ao'. The memory could not be "written".
Click OK to terminate the program
Click CANCEL to debug the program

If i click OK, the internet stops working, if i click CANCEL the computer shuts off.

I tried searching the internet for '0x010ef7ao' but nothing comes up.

Any suggestions, other than a reformat?

Print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Don't run it yet.

Download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

1. Install Ewido Security Suite.
2. When installing, under 'Additional Options' uncheck:
* Install background guard
* Install scan via context menu
3. Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double click it.
4. The program will now open to the main screen.
5. When you run Ewido for the first time, you might get a warning 'Database could not be found!'. Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
6. You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
* On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
* Then click on start update.
7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. The status bar at the bottom will display 'Update successful'.
8. Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can go to http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/ to update manually.

I rebooted my computer and managed to log in via safe mode. I then went to Control panel >> User accounts and turned off UAC (User Account Control). I then rebooted and was able to log in as the Admin via the Normal mode.

Now when I create other user accounts and try to log into those accounts I get the above error message.

How can I resolve this problem?

Does this computer have a built in diagnostic that you can run at startup?
I would first try going back to an old restore point. If all is well I'd error check the drive. Could be something else though.

For the people who can help,
I built my computer recently, about a month ago, and have started getting an error message Explorer.exe-Application error instruction "0x07*&%$#be" referenced memory at "0x07*&%$#be". Cant remember numbers just now, anyway the memory could not be read. Cant recall when I started getting this message but happens without fail on start up, and pretty much any other application I open (and am able to use after clicking OK and watching desktop icons disappear-reappear, tasktray icons disappear-reappear). Ive spent hours on the phone with microsoft trying lots of different fixs mentioned in these forums and am close to either doing a clean boot or trying to create a partition (partition magic) and start from there, since when I built it I never incorporated any. Ive tried turning off all the hardware since I still get the message in safe mode, no change. Ive repair installed 3 times, Ive /scannowed once, no change. Yesterday I was looking at some other site for info and found interesting stuff about leftover registry entries which I know little about. Doubtfull it could be a trojan or virus scanned for each numerous times with various programs.(housecall, symantec, stinger, TDS-3, spybotSD, adaware, hopefully all the good ones) I cant partition magic to make it to DOS mode to begin its procedure and NEED information of any kind, even if Ive already tried it.

Try Classic Media Player?

What are you using for a Video player? WMPlayer?
If so, try Classic Media Player.

Sounds like the Windows Media Player Codecs might be all messed up... Trouble shooting some sort of reinstall would be another suggestion.

If Classic Media Player works, I recommend using this as your main media player.

Hello everyone. When I start my computer, Before I get to windows I get an error message reading "Explorer.EXE - Application Error: The application failed to initialize properly(0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application". Once I click on ok, my backround loads up, but no taskbars or Icons are present, and I am only able to run programs through the task manager. I am however able to run the computer and get all of the icons and toolbars in safe mode. I ran McAfee Virus scan, and found no virus'. I downloaded Ad-Aware SE and ran a scan and found a few bad files, and deleted them. I also downloaded and ran Spybot S&D and again found a few bad files and deleted them, but I still have the same problem. I then downloaded Hijackthis(all of my actions were instructions I got from this website in another topic) but when I would try to run it, McAfee would tell me my computer was infected, and would not allow me to open HijackThis. If I scanned HijackThis it told me it had a worm in it. When we boot up the computer, I get the windows screen, then I get the following error message
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application".

I then get the background screen and no access to the desktop.

I can open windows task manager and select "create new task" to get to my desktop and files; I cannot get to the control panel. I can run various programs e.g. Registry cleaner, adaware, etc...no help.

I have 5.1, service pack 2 installed. I tried to run windows update manager...won't run. I tried to download latest patches, get an error message about cryptograph...can't get into administration tools to check that (can't get into control panel).

I can go to F8 and chose safemode, and, after it scrolls through files, I get the black, safemode screen. I then get the sign in screen, then the black screen, and then I have access to my computer.

How do I fix this problem? Any thoughts?

THanks, Angie

The error states:

explorer.exe - application error

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application.

When I click OK, i just have a black screen. I can get the task manager going by hitting control, alt, delete. I've tried to start explorer.exe from the file menu, but get the same error.

Help?

A:explorer.exe - Application Error

Hi Pawan, Welcome to Seven forums.

run a SFC/Scannow to completely scan the whole system and repair all missing, corrupted or broken system files. If some system files required by the system cannot be found properly, an application error 0Xc0000022 can also happen. The sfc /scannow command (System File Checker) thoroughly scans the integrity of all protected Windows system files and automatically replaces the incorrect, corrupted, broken, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible. To do this, just go to Start, run, type "sfc/scannow" within the box and press Enter to continue.

You can refer to this tutorial. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Do SFC SCAN atleast 3 times.
Please boot to the recovery environment ('Repair your computer' in the boot menu) and open a Command Prompt Window there.
At the prompt type DIR C:\Windows and hit the Enter key - if it comes back 'file not found' then try DIR D:\Windows etc. until you get a listing.
Once you have that listing, type the following command

DIR <drive>:\Windows\System32 /AR /S
where <drive> is the drive letter found above

and see what the response is.

If there's more than half a dozen files listed, then you need to run the following command

ATTRIB -R <drive>:\Windows\System32\*.* /s

You will get a large number of errors - don't worry about that.
now reboot to normal windows, and see whether the problem has changed.
DO NOT run the command if there's only a few file... Read more

My operating system is Windows XP Home.

Did not install new programs/upgrades but did uninstall games that have not been used in over a year. After the uninstall, when I tried to start up, instead of the usual 4 user choices as before, I am asked my password for my desktop, when that is typed in I get Explorer.EXE-Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc015002)Click on OK to terminate the application

When I try Safe Mode with Prompt, I am still asked for my password and when typed in, I get a gray screen with Safe Mode logo on all 4 sides but no icons. If any information is available on how I may solve this problem it will be greatly appreciated.

System manufacturer and model, please?

From what I see...this error occurs when users are trying to install something.

Did you try Last Known Good Configuration? The other safe mode boot options?

The instruction at "0x7342611a" referenced memory at "0x7342611a". The memory could not be "read".
Click ok to terminate the program.

That is the error I get as soon as I boot up my computer. I click ok, the explorer will shut down, then explorer starts back up again. This is getting very annoying. How do I get rid of it?

I see nothing under my event viewer.

Hi. First Post, really struggling with a computer issue, there are multiple facets to this so I'll try to be concise. This error is highly related to an error listed HERE. However, because the circumstances differ, I thought it appropriate to list my error. For a long time since I built my computer, i'd receive strange application error messages, but it never caused serious problems because if i terminated the program it would come back. Recently, I had to take my computer to Best Buy because it would not start, which was ultimately linked to a power issue. In addition to replacing the power supply, they also performed a system optimization, which is described on Geek Squad's Website as the following:Your computer, like your car, is a finely tuned machine that needs regular maintenance to keep it running and in good working order. Our optimization service includes over 100 system tweaks that will shorten your computer's boot time, delete unwanted files and remove unnecessary background processes. Agents will bring your system up to speed with the most recent updates to guard against security threats.Their updates included, among other things, updating my CMOS BIOS for my motherboard. As soon as I started using my computer again, the computer started using it's Automatic reboot feature to recover from a fatal error, which was not listed to me. Sometimes it would reboot seconds into the boot, sometimes into the desktop startup, and sometimes the computer would be stable for... Read more

A:Explorer.exe Application Error

The explorer.exe error (and it's rapid cycling) is (IMO) symptomatic of a nasty virus infection. I would suggest doing several free, online scans to rule this out:http://safety.live.comhttp://housecall.trendmicro.comA full format will fix your system - if this is a software issue. Not because it fixes everything, but it wipes everything out and starts over fresh. An option is to backup the music and documents to an external hard drive before reformatting. Since explorer.exe isn't reliable, you'd have to resort to a Live Linux CD, a BartPE CD, or the Ultimate Boot CD in order to ensure that it copies correctly.FWIW - if you copy an infected file, you copy the infection over to the new location - so it's essential to ensure that the infection isn't in one of the files that you're backing up.

Being that its happening in multiple situations, my first 2 guess would be your xp installation is flaking out somewhere, or maybe your ram needs to be re-seated or the ram itself may be flaky. Whats the specs of your machine?
